Absolutely loved this, Ben always comes across so well! I was always a massive fan, was gutted when his lost the win at Valencia to Stoner in the last 50 meters... Shame he wasn't in the paddock that long, looking forward to seeing what his team does in AMA. 🏁
Fabulous that one. Always enjoy listening to Ben, a down to earth humble man. A top rider in all classes, saw his gp win in Assen, atmosphere was electric. Thanx Ben , Keith. 👍👍
Keith chatting with Ben Spies about Kayla Yaakov and Jennings GP?? Am I dreaming?? I'm glad to see that American racing in general is getting the recognition it deserves again. Kayla is wildly talented and I fully agree that her future is filled with nothing but possibilities. She is the real deal with plenty of time to develop her skillset. In the same team with PJ , both receiving guidance from Ben with all his experience.. Rahal Ducati are gonna have a good season!
This is one of the BEST podcasts…!!! I absolutely adore Ben Spies and used to watch AMA in the boring days when Matt Mladin used to thrash everybody until this gangly kid I’d never heard of called Ben Spies turned up as his teammate in the Yoshimura Suzuki and gave me MY ABSOLUTE BEST YEARS in AMA!!!❤❤❤❤ I became his BIGGEST FAN and subsequently followed the emotional rollercoaster of every single step of his career till he retired!! Love Ben Spies to death honestly!! Had no idea he was creating a team! I’m definitely researching it and will follow his team avidly and closely and am HUGELY excited about the young female rider he mentioned that they’re nurturing and cannot wait to watch her and the other 2 riders including PJ Jacobsen who I watched a fair bit of in the past Huge thanks to OMG and Keith for this brilliant podcast and much love to one of the greatest motorbike riders of our time Ben Spies!!!❤❤❤ So fascinating listening to his views on modern day MotoGP bikes; he’s really helped give me a better understanding of the impact of aero and modern day tech on bikes As he rightly said, aero has little value in the streets yet it now dominates the racing…
Lowes brothers and now spies ! You guys are killing it!! And stoked that he's involved with developing Kayla she's an absolute beast on the brakes people should watch some of the early 400 races she competed in.
This is the stuff, all too often motogp podcasts and news articles recycle talking points. It's nice to see and hear new information, and insider views! More like this and down at the pub!
Great interview. Spies is one of my favorite riders of all time. I'm glad he's doing well. Hopefully all the new efforts will develop more great US riders and get them back to MotoGP and more.
Super nice guy. Never heard him talk before. Down to earth guy. If you make MotoGP in racing career, it's easy to forget for us non racers what of an achievement that it. There are only 20 sports in the world to get.
Definitely excited to see what Kayla can do. My daughter Elena proved that girls can compete and win in the highest level of racing here in the states. I’m glad and proud that she showed everyone that girls can do it! All the best to Kayla to bring the sport to the next level! Much love and support. ❤
Matt, dang, as much as I like Kayla, I die a little every time they don't mention Elena and what she achieved in the AMA. Especially, when discussing girls and racing....all my best...
Ben, I'm so proud of you for giving Kayla a rider this year....she's got huge talent and potential....and smart, OMG, have you heard her race commentaries and interviews....
Absolutely great interview with Ben it gonna be really interesting to see how things progress for him and his team in the future. He was so right when he talks about where MotoGP have been going and the airo that is currently starting to ruin the sport .👌👍
THANK GOD that I found you guys. After you left the other channel i didnt know whete to look. SADLY ...more like Pathetically ... MotoGP doesnt have many Podcasts or a promotional Brain cell to rub together. SO relieved ! Tear it UP ; Gonna be a Great Year
Can you get Brian Staring on? Always liked that guy for some reason. I think a lot of people thought his crt was the same bike as bautista's honda. Would love to hear more about that crt era.
Street bike platform racing is one animal. GP is a totally different animal. We must have training and platform for kids in this country for gp racing.
Big spies fan shame he he got injured and it didn’t work out in gps but to win a race in gps back then was almost impossible and he did it I think he was as good as dovi and simonchelli when he was at tech 3
I saw Ben in some of the comments on Mat Mladin's facebook. seems they've patched things up. I know Mat was going through some serious turmoil a couple years ago and is finally free of it. would be interested to know how they are getting on now. It sure was good to see the small communication between them after so many years of "we don't like each other".
I always felt ben retired at the request of his mother, being his manager, her putting the injuries he had above his happiness and love for racing, convincing him to retire. He definitely had more ama and/or superbike titles in him. Could have even went on to bsb. As an athlete you don't retire when you are still good. Spies was still great. An athlete can only compete for so long. So each year is precious. He gave it up too soon imo
Put ben spies in charge of moto go he tells it exactly how it is, fsns just wanted to see close racing and overtakes even if lap times are 2 seconda slower whos going to notice
Totally agree with him on the aerodynamics, they are ruining GP. I just don’t understand why they’ve allowed them when they’ve witnessed the trouble F1 has had with aero and it preventing close racing.

I don't want to call Ben a fibber, but his Suzuki , electronics tuned by Ammar Bazzaz, allegedly had rudimentary traction control and multiple maps gosted on to the ecu in a way that the AMA could not detect them. I remember watching he and Matt wack the throttle open way early in a corner and repeatedly leave with the bikes stuttering until there was sufficient traction , then have the engine smooth out and rocket into the distance. At the time I remember thinking it was odd how the engine sounded in the corners. This gave Matt and himself a definite advantage over the rest of the field. Were they the best two riders on the track at the time? I think so. But it hurts to hear Ben say how he is against all that tech when he benefited from that and I don't others others had that.
Mat said it wasn't tc but they did have an ecu that wasn't far off in a recent interview but it was inside the rules. Mat and Ben were still head and shoulders above the rest regardless.

Add a pit stop or something. There has to be a way to keep the performance. Take it all away and it will be slower than WSBK while one by one each rider highsides himself into oblivion until the grid is empty!@@em4945
i love Ben, he's my boy for ever but at 20:55 he's going sideways or he totally changed his mind. in another interview not so long ago, he said that his time in MotoGP has been Fd by his health issues and never could give 100% all the time. and that's why he couldn't do more. nothing to do with "i didn't do well enough to keep the handlebar" which is true but it's not like he was able to right? had he been able to, then yes he could say that. not here. after that, he says that he doesn't regret doing MotoGP?? once again, he said in the same interview i pointed earlier, that if he could recommence everything, he wouldn't go to MotoGP and keep winning in WSBK. and now he's saying he doesn't regret?? i don't get it but why not...

Great interview Keith. That’s a few times now Ben has slated the current era and riders doing well on the best bike who wouldn’t have won titles on something else. Slightly unfair honestly, he fails to mention Pecco dominated Moto2 on equal machinery to everyone and won races on an inferior Mahindra in Moto3 bike. Also Ben rode in an era with more advanced /bespoke Traction Control compared to the control ECU we have now. Riders cannot help what era they are born.
Raz can ride anything to the ragged edge, and make you watch your back at the same time, there isn't a ride in SBK doesn't have their eyes on Raz look what he's done on the BMW already so on inferior equipment he can make you look like MR McGoo... ducks all across the board have aspiration advantage and you wont convince me of anything different, I KNOW what makes HP, and that's A/F QUANTITIES, and yes its a rigged deck I know this for 100% certain.. hale they've even worked a standardized "let us control the ECU" into MotoAm were certain ducks are pulling everyone on the straights, and its ALWAYS 1 ducati that pulls harder than the rest, and that's the difference, straight away pull, corner speed is and always has been a product of compounds and guaranteed these lottery type tire distributions play into it as well, it insure MGP, so forth can manipulate the grid, anything you can gamble on is going to be manipulated and the reason being if MGP isn't rigging the deck someone else will, because of the amount of money circulating in the sports books, every pro ball sport in the USA is controlled in this manner and AI spits out the maximum yield, what scores need to be in what quarter of play and so its scripted... also in NO universe can a vtwin CC for CC keep up with a GSXR 750.. its not mechanically possible, not CFM to CFM, so they give it to the ducati so it can keep up, hale i was born in the day but not yesterday, these races are to sell bikes, that's why they get into it, inlines have schooled ducks for so long the duck sqaud was about to go under, so they gave the DUCKs, the v4s more CFM to win races and sell bikes, you don't think Suzuki knows this? its why they are not in it any more.. and its why honda and yamaha cannot keep up, they just aren't allowed to have the same CFM by design, why they went to standardized ECUs they have total control over..
far as motoGP if your not a spaniard on a duckie they don't want you in the series PERIOD, whats MGP right now? 60% spaniard, higher? seriously and isn't it kinda odd the duckies pull everything on the straights no matter what? uhh hope one doesn't have to say but yea, it is. . .
I used to be a hater. I considered it a waste of a slot for another class. But the racing is some of the most entertaining to watch and the money the factories are putting into MotoAmerica has helped generate hype for all of MotoAmerica here in the states not just baggers.
🗣️ Someone call Yamaha, pull Rea off and get Spies back in the game. 😅 The fact that Spies said WSBK was easier makes sense as you could see he clearly led the field the short time he was there. 🤌🏾
Top guy Ben Spies honest and humble, plus what a rider.
He was simple awesome!!
His battles with Mladin on his way to his 3 x titles was legendary and the way he won the World Superbike championship was just on another level
He may be laid back but his IQ is hard to hide, people like him make life look easy? Too big to hang in Motogp body wise I think, 160 lbs is a huge gp jockey
Great to hear Ben Spies talking! Really down to earth guy and always a pleasure to listen to! Wishing him all the best with his projects 🏆

I was there, couldn't believe what Stoner did on the last lap, unreal,,, But that's why a double World Champion 😊

Love this. Ben Spies is the cheese! Great interview. Thanks Keith and Ben.
🇺🇸 Elbows! Great dude, great rider! Great episode!
No way guys, Ben Spies is such a great guy to listen to (and see go racing not that long ago) thanks for this.

Cracking interview Keith, it was great to hear from Ben and listen to what he had to say, speaks a lot of sense….
Love to hear from Ben I still remember him winning WSK in his rookie season! Awesome sporting spectacle!!!
Great interview. Spies is one of my favorite riders of all time. I'm glad he's doing well. Hopefully all the new efforts will develop more great US riders and get them back to MotoGP and more.
Most interesting rider interview I've ever seen.
My favorite rider of all time. He’s the reason I have a Suzuki. #11 forever
Great to see Keith doing his own channel, not hampered by a pair of non riding Clowns 😮😊 Looking forward to more classy chats
Well said.
I had an opportunity to race Ben Spees when he was 16 years old and Henderson Texas on the CMRA circuit. He smoked all of us.
Good luck Ben you are the man!! Great podcast Keith.
Kayla will do well with Spies. Thanks for the episode!

Enjoyed the interview. Good luck this year in MotoAmerica!
Great interview! Ben is a interesting intelligent Man. I have always been a fan of his.
He is cool guy smart guy way won that first wsbk title first year in wow that was amazing .

Nigel Mansell, Mr Spies 😀 Great listening to Ben, nothing to disagree with, apart from Mr Mansell's achievements 😀
Dont forget they (Rahal) also have a Piaggio Group Motoplex dealership. Including Aprilia, Guzzi, Piaggio and Vespa !
Great interview.
I've been looking forward to this one.😁
loved watchin him race a gsxr 600
Super cool ,down to earth guy.
Brilliant!!
For the addition of Sprint races in motogp. In the past Ben (and other AMA riders would race 600 and Superbike races everysunday.
Saw him in Indy and I think he raced at COTA the first couple years…I forget. Good to see he is still in the biz of speed
Grande ben super pilota un personaggio sportivo molto corretto e incredibile, speriamo di vedere piloti come colin nicky e ben in motogp w u.s.a.
Respect!!!
Big spies fan shame he he got injured and it didn’t work out in gps but to win a race in gps back then was almost impossible and he did it I think he was as good as dovi and simonchelli when he was at tech 3
If you look at lap times of the baggers compared to superbikes of say 30 years ago you would be amazed how fast these behemoths can circulate
Always felt Ben & Colin were American's we wanted to follow and were happy for them to beat the European riders. Now bringing on female riders.
I saw Ben in some of the comments on Mat Mladin's facebook. seems they've patched things up. Only one thing would get me interested again: TWO STROKES.
!
Someone needs to get on a Buell and win a world championship.
I remember Ben Spies when he was in motogp, I was suprised and saddened when he left, got pushed out. Am I right thinking he is from New York
He is from Tennessee. Gives real TX vybez imo.
Put ben spies in charge of moto go he tells it exactly how it is, fsns just wanted to see close racing and overtakes even if lap times are 2 seconda slower whos going to notice
Surely a lot of juniors out of flattrack that would transition into road race
Always great content, but please tone down your graphica, they are hurting my eyes 😉
Totally agree with him on the aerodynamics, they are ruining GP. I just don’t understand why they’ve allowed them when they’ve witnessed the trouble F1 has had with aero and it preventing close racing.
