Awesome Interview guys and girl. Just subscribed and liked👍
50:00 Sorry but this is not true. Imagine Honda without Marquez from 2013.. how many championships they would have won? Likely zero. Marc got them 6. Marc didn’t lead them down the wrong path. He made the best out of what wasn’t the best bike. Honda got lost when they started thinking ’hey we have these championships without investing too much in this sport so our bike must be great enough, so it’s the fault of our riders now’. Marc ended their 4 years contract because Honda wasn’t willing to invest at all in bike development and he left and that only revealed Honda’s real investment in the project, not that Marc did them wrong. Also how can you say Marc is not technical in developing a bike? How do you think he got the 6 trophys with a bad bike? Ducati is where they are because they have been 110% invested since 2016 and even before that. They pushed through the years of Marc always taking the championships away from them, coming up with all the innovations with aero, ride height device and everything else. What has Japanese manufacturers innovated in the last 10 years? I just think Japanese manyfacturers stopped caring about the sport, and now they are on their way out unless they really start investing like Yamaha seems to be now.
Hats off to Simon,
I’m burning to see that body-size "unfair advantage" be "neutralized" in basketball (or pretty much any other sport) so that we can see any son (or daughter) be able to compete on the "same" footing as any other participant regardless of their size.
🎉❤love moto gp😊❤❤🎉
Simon is such a lovely guy & a legend will be missed from the Paddock
Great interview, Amy and Keith! I interviewed Simon earlier this year, too, and my listeners just love his authenticity.
One of the best figures of moto gp
THANK YOU SIMON 👍😄
Congrats on your new Job next year Simon, but i gotta ask, WHY is it WE always lose Great Pitlane reporters like you and Dylan Gray !?? :( , best of luck to you !
I liked Dylan too! Where’d he go?
Simon is one of the most beloved people in the racing community. He will do great.
1 hr with Yoda :-) his passion for the sport and life in general is magical, keep it up buddy, thanks Amy and Keith for letting Simon meander his wisdom to us, going miss you fella, as much as i still miss the Toby and Jules and Randy show from the 90's and the Keith and Jules show 'OH he's nutted it' was the Best of British R>i.p. Gavin
That was the first episode I've watched, and I just want to say how beautiful it was watching you listening and reacting to Simon speaking, Amy. The little smiles as he'd start to tunnel down a topic or when he said something insightful and affirming of one of the riders that indicated you were just taking joy in witnessing someone else just being fully themself, and in their seeing the world in a positive way. It speaks of a beautiful human being. I loved Simon's insights, and his passion for what he's doing. There was a lot to learn. I also loved the initial talk of wanting to turn up and be a little scared, so that he's always expanding his horizons and capacity. And the sense of fairness and humility that allowed him to call himself out for using the term gentlemen's agreement. Regarding I4 vs V4 and the difference frontal area makes, my memory is that the year Spies won WSBK on the R1, it was producing the highest HP on the grid, but had the lowest trap speeds (and the dainty Aprilia was consistently quickest through the traps).
That an I4 has more frontal area than a V4 is surely not true, eh? The rider is by far the biggest component that produces drag? Wadda yuh say?
I learn so much listening to Simon,Iwill miss him,all the best in your new job,
What a fantastic pod cast I love Simon he will be missed as far as he’s interviews and race building up and even he’s hot lap the man is a font of knowledge and the way he explains everything to the race fans and even the lay man is just on point.thanks Simon and good luck in your new role 👍🏻
A very eloquent gent . And I mean GENT. Like a piece of warm putty with a MUCH LESS pliable core. 👌🏻👍🏻
Am I the only one whose ears hurt every time these people say DOO-KATTY?!?!?!? DOO-KAH-TEE!!! Based on #93's crackerjack development work with HRC, Borgo Panigale better keep him the hell away from telling 'em what to do vs Bagnaia. But they know better based on the Casey Stoner experience...don't they? Crafar seems to know what he's talking about...will DORNA let him talk sense?
We were riding around Borgo Panigale asking Italian's for directions to the DOO-KATTY factory. None of the locals had a clue what we were asking! hahahaha One finally ran back and said..."Aaah DOO CARTI" And you have to sing it!
Honda got lost many times and MM93 covered it all up. This doesn t mean Marc and Santi went silent about it. I heard many times words from Marquez saying " guys i want last year s bike back". Simon is clearly anti marc, Yamaha suffered the same effect and who s guilty? Yamaha? Quartararo? You are biased Simon.
Everybody is biased my friend. Why am I betting you are a MM#93 fanboy!
I think Honda got ‘lost’ because they focused on only one rider, being MM
Amy, I've seen you on TV and the internet for several years and you keep getting prettier. (Can I say that?) Congratulations on the new role, Simon.
I'll never forget watching Simon beat Doohan for the win at Donington, he was on fire that day.
If I ever make it to a MotoGP race, to heck with the riders, I'll be hunting down Simon for an autograph
If Simon is happy, I'm happy for him. But he's by far the best there. Kind of Bond. James Bond. You can't replace Craig
When he first started, Simon was difficult to listen to. I personally, can tell that he worked incredibly hard to polish his skills to end up where he did. Good on ya, Simon.
💯💯💯💯💯💯 I agree. Except he still says DOO CAT EE.....aaaaarh! Come on Simon!
One of the best podcasts I have heard for a long time. Simons insights into some of the technical areas is very interesting. 👍
Simon WE LOVE YOU!!! You make me excited to watch racing
Simon, you are a Class Act! Good Luck with new job, you will be miss with information you shared. Thanks
If you want to go fast safely on track. Watch Simon's Motovudu series, practice, repeat.
I named my dog Simon after him. My Simon is a handsome Airedale Terrier. I’m going to miss him on the MotoGP broadcast.
Well done simon, all the best in your new job
Mr Crafar - absolute legend. Mrs Reynolds - looking beautiful. Mr Huewen - you're OK too mate.
What a great episode, this one will be hard to top off!
Fantastic chat 👏
It has to be remembered, Jorge Martin is a double world champion. They don't give those away with bags of sweets.
Great interview. I love it!
Love Simon C, he is my voice of reason with Kirsten, and they keep me safe on the road i.e. not buy silly bikes and get sucked into the marketing ❤️ Lovely family too
I'd hate to see Ducati dominate in 2025, so I hope aprilia and Martin will give them hell
Wish you could do both!!
10 minutes in and I already have issues with his approach of "filtering out negativity". The thing is, those things DO matter, there was a reason why people were being negative towards MGP stewards in the past (mainly inconsistency), it's not a full fault of stewards, rules have to be written in a way to not be open to interpretations. And why those things matter you may ask? It's simple actually, the reason stewards and MGP exist is the people who watch it, remove those people, and there's no reason for those things to exist. That being said, I'm not the one to judge anyone in advance, so I am and will stay hopeful that Simon might solve the inconsistency issues in ruling, unless proven otherwise. Look at F1, viewership is dropping fast, no amount of marketing can fix fundamentally broken stewards decisions and inconsistencies. MotoGP was much better than F1 in that aspect, but that doesn't mean it was good, pointing out something bad and saying "We are doing better" is not really a valid approach to the issue. IMO, the biggest issue is that stewards do not have the rules in their heads, especially in F1, so they end up opening rules books etc., and that's very unprofessional. If I was a racing director, I would make sure that everyone knows every single rule if woken up in the middle of night, that would remove that workflow bottleneck. I would also make sure that rules are written without any room for "elastic interpretations", and voice my concern if something isn't as such when it have to be.
Lucky for us your not in charge then!
@@ianjohnson1207 I don't know who "you" (plural) are, but it's unlucky for the MotoGP that I am not in charge, because stewards BS present in it and F1 would be a thing of the past, and rules would be strict and clear and equal to all.
@@Coupe-gf7sc I’m fairly sure the rules are strict and correct, all 382 pages of them, and yes some rules have to be open to discussion because not every single scenario is the same The rule book is adhered to by idiots and for the guidance of intelligent men What seems to be your problem
HONDA LET PEDROSA GO AS TEST RIDER WAS THE NO/1 DOWNFALL" IMO
Simon is a very nice person comes across really well good to listen to him talk 👍
Should have asked him about riding the bagger 🦅
Should have asked him about riding the bagger 🦅
Simon’s brain is going 1000 mph 24/7
I love this guy. Such a nice person. Wealth of knowledge. Great to listen and learn from him. Thanks Simon.
Lots of respect for Simon, love the way he communicates the subtle aspects of riding- his MotoVudu series was excellent. Then seeing him trackside these last years was always nice and always informative. GL on this next role!
Loving your work as always - but I do have one issue I'd love to hear you comment on ........ I seriously expected Maverick to struggle with the KTM given that a) he's a rider known for mainly being super fast when he has everything 'just so' with his bile, and b) the KTM is a bile that has given all the riders grief (even Pedro although to a lesser extent). Instead he was pretty fast and saying how much it seemed to suit his riding style. Could Vinales & KTM actually be a match that surprisingly works?
fantastic, massive respect for Simon, and I hope that people retain this when there are decisions made that they don't like in the future..unfortunately people are too quick to turn, and too binary in their thought processes these days.
