I absolutely didn’t know letting my hair dry for hours was damaging 😮. I always thought the hair dryer was more damaging than letting my hair air dry. Thank you for the tips!! 😊
Thank you for letting us know that sleeping with your hair wet is damaging to your hair. I also didn't know that letting your hair air dry is also damaging. Thanks for the tip.
I do ALL the protective things! I probably overdo it! Thanks for confirming that what I'm doing is best for my hair! One other thing I do, when I blow dry my hair, I have the cool shot on the whole time and it still drys quickly! I might put a bit of heat towards the end, but I always end with the cool shot! Always use a heat protectant too!
Air drying your hair causes less heat damage . It is more fragile when it is wet because the hydrogen bonds are broken . It will not cause damage leaving it to air dry . Drying hair with a blow dryer is fine with proper heat protectant . Leaving hair wet for long durations of time could potentially damage it . But after washing it and conditioning it apply proper leave in conditioner and detangle and apply proper hair products is totally fine . Im a licensed cosmetologist been licensed since 1995 .
@@tashavargas1514 I've also been a licensed cosmetologist for over 15 years 😊 and while yes I agree as long as the hair isn't left wet for long periods of time it can be air dried safely, most of my clients are fine and thin haired women and many of them have damage from sleeping in wet hair, putting it up, rubbing it on the seat of their car on the way to work. Most fine haired people also don't enjoy putting protective products (I do suggest air dry appropriate products in other videos) in their wet hair to air dry because of texture so they are more likely to put nothing. For most with this hair type I find drying quickly on low heat with products the least damaging option.
So I try to use a scarf/bonnet but it always comes off in my sleep. Can you do a tutorial of how you put on a night bonnet so that it stays on? I feel because my hair is so thin and fine that the bonnet slides off!
@@stitchy_linn as I explained in the video the hair is in a weakened state when wet, the strand is swelled with water making it much more susceptible to breaking. Any friction to the hair while wet is much more likely to cause damage then when dry. Leaving the hair wet for more then an hour is not advisable and not only will blow drying cause less damage then air drying but it also gives more volume and your hair gets oily less quickly when blow dried.

How do you protect your hair whilst sleeping? I find my hair is extra flat when I cover it with a bonnet.
What about fine wavy / curly hair even if I diffuse it blows out the curls I do use a microfiber towel helps it dry faster
As always super helpful❣️

You say air drying hair is damaging to hair yet you failed to inform how and why it is damaging to it. Answer please and thank you!
