@@l.Marissa.l Why are you so offended lmao. Finger combing is also a very real thing in the curly hair community, it essentially just boils down to personal preference and what your own hair likes more.
I’m a fellow hairstylist and I’ll be honest, when I first clicked your video I was thinking it was gonna be another video filled with common sense stuff I already know. But actually. You’re a genius and gave me a TON of great advice to pass along to my guests!! THANK YOU!
I genuinely came to this video expecting to be told "You're doing your hair wrong, buy these 5 items, they're all 50 bucks" and that wasn't what I got. They're actually very good tips. Not everyone can afford to spend all that money on hair care.I can't, I can make use of all of these tips. Thank you!
I love the leave-in spray that he mentioned. It's $30 or so and I figure that if it's good for my hair, it's worth it. I noticed a huge difference in my hair after using it after washing before brushing and styling. ❤
@@hollyc.691use once after washing hairs or every time before brushing please clear my query regarding leave in conditioner spray also after shampooing you just use his recommended leave in conditioner or adding something else?
@@hollyc.691 I am SO sorry it took me so long to get back to you, youtube is terrible at notifying me of replies til weeks later. I am gonna try it. I don't have the patience for like 5 steps in my hair. It's not thick hair but I have so much of it. I have literally never gotten a haircut without a comment on how much hair I have and how long it takes, and, not only that, but it's curly and I don't produce literally any oil. I need products that fulfill multiple jobs and leave-in products are my holy grail.
@@anamsandhu12 I would co wash my hair (curly hair, if you have hair that benefits shampoo, I would shampoo and condition it) and then leave it to air dry, I'll use t-shirt after washing and leave it to air dry. Style after dry. If you use heat, use a heat protectant.
@@EdwardoLover so I recently started watching this guy and I was able to get some of these products, but I still have a question. I take showers at night and I also let it air dry. The only routine I've ever heard of was just shampoo and conditioner but now I'm gonna use the trinity route, so after I shower and spray in the leave in conditioner do I let it air dry fully then add the oil? Or should I blow dry it (without heat protectant I'll buy that soon) and once the ends are dry then I add the oil? I never style my hair I either go with braids or loose bun.
Another option is to have at least 2 hair brushes that would be used Before and After Shampooing your hair to avoid dirt, oil, dandruff and build up from the same hair brush transferring onto clean hair. That makes a lot difference too.
This is what I do! I have ones I use shortly after washing on wet hair. I rinse them after every time I use them so they stay clean. Then I have ones I use on dry hair, which get dirtier. It really helps to keep them separate!
Dermatologists say to wash your hair as often as you need. Every head is different. Some people are super athletic or have gross jobs and need to wash daily. Others can go days.
I’m a daily washer because I have scalp issues that are made better with daily washing. My hair is also very thick and healthy, and I have no problems growing it long.
My hair has gotten so much softer and thicker with washing daily. I always used to follow the rule “leave it till once a week” etc and tbh it did nothing but damage my hair. A dirty scalp isn’t going to produce good growth, pretty logical really
I have waist length straight hair that likes to get tangled after washing it, and I NEVER understood why everyone at my salon was hell bent on combing my wet hair instead of using a brush! I can FEEL all the hair that's getting ripped out, and they struggle like hell, but when I use a wet brush, it only takes a few strokes to get through it. Why do so many salons still use such a damaging method for getting through tangled wet hair?
I can’t stand it either! It’s old school in my mind that needs to be changed. I’m not sure if you have spoken up about it before the the hair stylist? I just tell them that I will be doing the brushing of my hair after it’s been washed. Sometimes I blow dry my own hair too bc I rather do it myself they having it messed it lol I have long fine hair too that tangles easily, I felt your pain on this 😹💕
@@adriana27100 you have inspired me to speak up at my salon! I'm planning on getting a trim soon, and I am bringing my wet brush with me, and if they don't like it, they can find another client! You've convinced me to be brave, and my hair will thank you for it!
Just found your videos and devoured so many of them. Bought the products and followed your system. Went four days between washes for the first time ever! I have fine, highlighted, aging hair and have always washed daily. No more! My husband hates the sleeping bonnet but he is just going to have to deal because it is a crucial part of the system! I truly appreciate that your advice and recommendations stay consistent, based on extensive trial and error with your clients. You’re not pushing the latest product or allowing yourself to be swayed by companies looking to increase profits. If there is a way to give back to you as a thank you, please let us all know. Your work here has been life-changing!!!
@@Rosapixel Those made my skin break out (common problem) plus they don’t work well for long hair as much of your hair won’t stay on it. Also, hair bonnets also help with keeping the moisture in. Especially if you put leave in conditioner on before putting one on after every wash…it’s amazing. Silk pillowcases won’t do any of that.
What material is your sleeping bonnet made of? I am looking for one, but did not find a video of Chris yet with this information. Or if you could link the right video that would also be very helpful (:
I’m blown away (pun intended!) by how helpful and educational this video is. I’m a guy who’s kept my hair long for about a decade now. My hair is super duper thick. When it dries out too much it becomes embarrassingly wild and unruly. You’ve just enlightened some possible mistakes I’m needing to rectify - especially the properly shampooing bit. Bless you 🙏 ❤
I'm a guy w long hair is what made me smile. Looooove long hair on a man! So sexy! And dont c it nearly enuf! Keep those long locks sweetie. Some of us appreciate it immensely😉
@@donkeyballs3307 I found that the kryptonite for my hair was the bad water quality - our water was chlorinated. We moved and are on well water now. There's sulfur in it, which we filter out for drinking but otherwise it does wonders for my skin and hair. I wash my hair with moderately hot water, shower temperature, and have no issues. As a matter of fact, I've started to have to cut my hair once a year, when before it wouldn't grow past my waist. For reference, I'm in my fifties, so ... yeah, my hair suddenly grows like a teenager's.
I seriously can not thank this man enough for helping me learn how to take care of my long hair. It’s naturally curly and super dry. I’ve always washed it once every 1-2 weeks, but I never knew how to keep it looking good everyday. Now I have a basic hair routine in the mornings to go with my skincare routine. I absolutely love my hair now, and I enjoy taking care of it
What do you do to combat the dryness and keep it looking good between wash days? Is there a video of Chris's you recommend or a product that helped you lots?
I'm subscribing because you sound legit. Not like other so-called "gurus". It never really helped my hair. I tried your routine just yesterday and my hair feels so clean and nice and light. And I don't have a hair fall yet! Now I'm gonna wait a day or two to see if it doesn't get too oily too much and see if I can get by til end of the week before washing. I mean just not seeing a single hair fall I'm already blown away.
I experienced COVID that lasted around 10 days. At first, I believed I was fine but I started to lose more hair than normal. Following some research, I am realizing it’s from the stress my body went through during that time period and also the shampoo that I was using. So I started doing meditation, yoga everyday and changed my shampoo and conditioner to littleextrraa coooconion anti hair fall kit. And now I don't face any hairfall. Thanks for this video! I feel so much better.
Just placed my second order for Littlllextra Cocoonion hair oil and shampoo. I absolutely love it. Since I started applying it, I experienced visible hair growth.
My tip is when brushing hair start a few inches from the bottom then go higher up towards the head with each stroke, so if there’s a tangle, you aren’t ripping it down the whole length of your hair
Do you have suggestions for swimmers? Wearing a swimcap isn’t always the answer and hair is going to get wet. What advice do you have when hair gets wet almost daily? If you could do a video to answer this dilemma, it would be much appreciated! Love your hair advice overall!
Put conditioner or a leave in mask on your hair before swimming, and put it in a protective style like a braid where it doesn’t get as knotted as easily. Obviously try to wear swim cap and limit exposure to water. When you shower use a hair mask and shampoo and conditioner that are moisturizing. You can try hair oiling too. Oil is hydrophobic while water is hydrophilic so the oil repels water molecules
I've heard you should wet all your hair first in cold water as dry hair soaks up all the chlorine or other pool water like salt water, then put some conditioner on it then your cap
I'd love to see you hair gurus talking about how much iron and low iron messes up your hair. 1 in 4 women have low iron, and it leads to dull dry hair or hair loss. I saw a dermatologist and he recommended supplements to get my ferritin to over 80 to regrow hair I lost from being anemic. Made a massive difference in hair regrowth, rehydrating it AND it improved the texture too! other nutrient deficiencies can massively affect your hair.
@@beabrandy any iron supplement. In Canada you can get Feramax which is awesome and easy on the stomach! I would recommend blood work to get your ferritin level checked. 80-100 is optimal for women and excellent health overall (my dermatologist recommended 90-100 for optimal hair regrowth). It took me 2 years of taking daily supplements to get from 27-80.
Chris can you PLEASE make a video on how to care for naturally curly (Wavy, curly, and coily)hair?? Products you recommend to keep hair healthy and how to properly diffuse hair to keep it protected from heat?
I came into this video expecting it to not apply to my Dominican hair but a lot of these are things we already do, and honestly I forgot about using hair masks. I’m glad I can incorporate that into my routine. I’ll also add this is why so many block people wrap our hair up at night to help prevent breakage, damage to the style or curls and it also keeps your pillows clean bc you don’t have to sleep on your hair making your face and pillow dirtier
I just want to say, Than you!! Your advice and directions have returned my hair to my 30's. I'm 59 originally from CA. Moved to PA and between humidity and grey hair, I almost gave up. I have thick coarse -curly hair that used to look great all the time without much effort, but the last 10 years or so.....anyway thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
I know, I told you many times, but again: your recommendations saved my hair 🥰 I can go 4 days between washes now and finally my hair is getting longer than shoulder length! Before I only could grow it to the shoulders and then they would break and get split ends. Thank you so much! 😊
@@Posch40 I am not married but I do still enjoy smelling nice. I also use dry shampoo on the in-between days, what does being married have to do with anything tho hahaha 😂😂
Everything you say is awesome ! But for me, my hair was horrible until I started washing it daily! I spent years trying to push my washes, and it would just end in my ends snapping off. Now I do the trinity routine daily! And my hair is much softer, less tangly more manageable! I should mention I don't use heat! Only because my hair becomes very unmanageable when I use heat. If I let it air dry then my hair is smoother and softer, more hydrated, the moment I try to blow dry or blow dry brush it, it feels like straw.
It's the same for me. I always washed my hair every day. Then for a whole year I tried to wash every other day or even less. After a year it's keeping producing sebum as much as at the begining. So today I go back to washing every day. I'm tired of greasy hair the next day after washing it. Too bad I have oily scalp skin and super fine hair which gets dirty very quickly
That means you have stripped the oils from your scalp to the point where it's overcompensating making your scalp so oily that you have to wash it daily. The more you do it the worse it will get. Waste of time and money.
@@nadias6435 I don't think so. Surely in a year of washing hair less the oils should have came back and everything should stabilize. But the hair is the same. I'm glad you can wash your hair whenever you want, but everybody is different
@@reercudiif you washed you hair every day with industrial shampoo, washing it every other day would not be enough to let your scalp recover actually and there wouldn't be a noticeable change. You would need to do a more dramatic sebum cure, which is a really specific treatment where you don't wash you hair for a whole month and you brush it regularly and in specific ways with a boar bristle brush to let the natural sebum moisterize you hair from scalp to ends, not letting the sebum accumulate on top. Obviously it's a really hard procedure that not everyone is cut out for but I did it a few years ago it's a life changer. I definitely recommend to people who have greasy hair problems and WANT to stop washing them every day.
Its actually a super popular and well known procedure in France but I can't seem to find anything in English except for videos of historical hair care ... That's interesting !
Brilliant tips. I've recently experienced the heat tip myself - I've always been using a lower temperature, but having to touch up with heat every day. And my friend convinced me to try a higher heat (with protectant of course) and the curls lasted for two days when after sleeping in a bun and brushing!
My mom told me a lot of this stuff when I was younger. I went through a rebel phase and cut it off, dyed the crap out of it too, but now that I'm older, wiser, and have hair down past my butt, I can concur. This advise he says will save you from spending hundreds on hair products fixing past mistakes. It's also nice getting compliments from strangers. People will look up to you if you have a well groomed mane. :)
I want to thank you for all your tips, it is universal! I'm Malaysian and live in a tropical country where I can't go more than 24 hours without washing my hair. We wash our hair daily due to the weather. After watching your video, I bought all of the recommended products and I can now go up to 5 days without washing my hair. No smells, no oily scalp, just healthy bouncy hair. I have curly hair and I felt awful for following all of the curly hair rules tips all this while; your tips works on curly hair. i have a request can you explain protein and keratin hair treatments?
@@corrinjessen I am totally familiar with hot, humid climates but what I mean is that even in cold climates, scalp issues make you struggle with this same problem.
I wouldn’t start messing with protein treatments unless you do your research first. If your hair doesn’t need it, it will do a lot more harm than good. There’s ways to test it that you can find online. I realized my hair didn’t need it so I don’t use any of that stuff anymore. Good luck!
I have been implementing a lot of your advice. I’m using redken shampoo, conditioner, and split end treatment, I’m wearing a silk sleep cap, I bought a wet brush and I bought the redken blow out product for when I dry my hair (previously I almost always air dried). And I’m not vigorously rubbing my hair with a towel. I’m hoping to get some extra length that I lost through colouring my hair.
Chris, i've hated my hair for so long since i've lost atleast half of it due to anemia, rapid weight loss, etc. I still have a good amount and it doesn't look bad at all but i always kept thinking of what it used to be. i've purchased the products you recommended and it completely changed my hair. i am in love with my hair again! i get excited for wash days since your routine is so simple yet it yields such good results. thank you thank you!!
@@stefanienoa4674 sure! I bought the redken volume injection shampoo and conditioner (in the pink bottle) and the pureology leave in conditioner. I already have a hair oil from Aveda that I use for my ends. My hair is on the finer side so these have worked beautifully for me
I changed some of the products I was using for the ones your recommend: Redken thermal protector, Olaplex oil etc.. and I am super happy. My hair is much better. Thank you for your videos! ❤
I’ve been struggling with my hair recently, this is a video I needed to watch but didn’t even realise it. Thank you, hope all your tips will make my hair lush and healthy again ❤️
How did you know I was recently asking myself how to clean my brush? Is there a proper way to clean a blow out brush as well? Also what hair mask is your recommendation for fine thin hair?
I hate invisi bobbles! I still get the kink and it doesn’t hold my hair in a pony well. Plus it feels horrible and tugs on the hair when removing. Much prefer a scrunchie. Gives volume and a bigger bun too when wearing up.
I also wanted to add that I tried the “Invisibobble” and it also ripped out my hair for some reason. Maybe because my hair is super thick. So I immediately stopped and threw them all away. Now I stick to mostly big silk scrunchies and the thick black hair bands.
I really like the pantihose ones. I've never tried the invisibobble so can't compare. I don't like scrunchies (reminds me of my very awkward pre-teen years).
I believe it’s because of how it was manufactured, it’s coiled/spiral shape causes the hair to get easily entangled within it, to the point where it can easily get ripped out if one isn’t careful taking it off.
I’ve had the same experience. I have fine, bleached hair and I’ve found that the Scunci no damage hair ties work well. They don’t slide out of my hair as easily because I can wrap them numerous times. Also, when they stretch out, you can throw them in the washer with your clothes and they go back to normal size. Because my hair is so fine and slick, scrunchies slip out. These have been a lifesaver.
You gave advice that has really improved my hair after months of following the regime. I wash my hair. Apply conditioner, rinse off. Then after towel drying apply leave in conditioner. Apply heat protection. Blow dry. Then apply hair oil to the ends. This regime has really improved the condition of my hair. It feels much more nourished and healthy!! 👍
Please keep these videos coming! I recently bought living proof perfect hair day shampoo and conditioner and I wash my fine hair every 3-4 days ideally, but sometimes it's tough. I'd been disappointed with this shampoo but ever since double washing I've noticed a HUGE difference! I can't believe the suds (which I didn't get from the first wash in the past) and I'm only using a dime sized amount per wash. My hair has been looking great and I love the new routine without 1,000 products!
Hi Chris, thank you for your informative, no BS videos. I could do with some hair care routine advice. I can get away with washing my hair once or twice a week, BUT, I work out every day, and my thick, shoulder-length hair becomes a sweaty, frizzy mess. Because I only have half an hour to get ready, I throw it in a ponytail (without washing) and head off to work. As you can imagine, it’s pretty stinky by day 4, and it never properly dries out underneath. I used to wash my hair every day and let it air dry in years gone by, but don’t have the time to do that now. My hair actually feels healthier now that I’m washing it less often, but because it’s wavy/curly, I need to put product in it to define and hold the curl. As soon as I tie it back and it gets sweaty, I can kiss goodbye the idea of wearing it loose because it gets frizzy and the curl clumps get messed up. Any tips? Greetings from Australia 😊
Thank you for all your tips! I’m 47 years old with thick down to waist hair. I always go to sleep with damp hair and definitely it doesn’t ruin your hair. I never blow dry or use any heating devices on my hair and I also have never dyed my hair and I think that’s the reason I have healthy long hair.
Like you, I have really long hair, ( I can sit on it), but my hair isn't that thick, kind of medium . I haven't used heating tools since the early 90's, ( the old curling wands), and don't blow dry my hair either. I only occasionally dye my hair, but only every couple of years. As a result, my hair is in pretty healthy condition, as nearly everything Chris said, my mother drilled into is as kids. I only really have to wash my hair once a week, except in summer, when it's twice a week due to sweatiness.( Australian, so our summers are really hot). Im not a fan of hair products, as I've always taken good care of my hair.
Maybe cause it's thick as well. Although my hair used to be so healthy as well when i didn't dye or bleach it. I have fine hair but a lot. Sleeping with wet hair didn't damage it at all
I am from India and it's very difficult to get the professional shampoo mentioned on the channel at a fair price since its imported. But somehow I managed to switch to professional Indian brands like Loreal Professional. Plus I got a leave in conditioner, followed the kungfu shampoo technique, got a scalp massager and made sure I use my conditioner shampoo and oil exactly like its suggested by Blowout Professor. I see wonders happening to my thin, straight hair prone to oil and buildup. I am enjoying the healthiest hair of my life right now and wonder how better it could be if I could get and use the exact same products he suggests. Another viewer saying Thank you! Not only is my hair condition improving, so is my bank balance because, even with buying slightly more expensive better quality products, I'm using less of them & not having to use shower/drier as often saves on utility bills too. Really appreciate your expert yet easy to understand advice.
As someone who works as fitness trainer and has oily scalp, face, chest and literally everything, I absolutely hate hearing “you’re doing something wrong washing your hair daily”. Yes, my hair is oily next day after being professionally washed by a hairdresser. And yes, they are 26 inches long and perfectly fine despite of my “over washing”. Hair experts should consider that some women might have PCOS f.e. which increases testosterone production and it affects skin oiliness. If people with oily scalp don't wash it every day, in addition to looking terrible, they will end up with acne along their entire hairline 💁🏻♀️

What made the biggest difference to the condition of my hair...coconut oil. I have bleached collar bone length hair and nothing helped. I tried pureology leave in conditioner, rebel tame frizz dismiss and they were both meh. I used morrocan oil weightless mask and it too was meh until I remembered coconut oil from the past so hadn't tried it in a while so I put coconut oil on dry hair ,left it in for a couple of hours, shampooed out,put in pureology conditioner, and then applied the morrocan oil hair mask and the next morning, straight ,smooth hair for days. Hopefully now I have found a winning formula for me.
Hi, Thanks for the valuable info. Two requests - 1. Can you please make a video on best hair treatments to manage frizzy hair. For eg - Keratin, botox etc 2. Can you suggest other options for leave-in conditioner? The one that you generally recommend is not available here in India. Thanks in advance:)
I have never used a "hair mask". I have very long (down past my waist), curly, dry hair. I also color my hair in three shades (which I am positive adds to the dryness). I receive daily compliments on my hair and try to take good care of it the best I can. What type of "hair mask" would you recommend? Thank you. LOVE your videos.
I’m going to be honest. I got my first haircut this week in a year and 8 months. I’ve had a lot going on with a family members health then I was diagnosed with stage 4 hormonal breast cancer. I’m not on chemo but I am on endocrine therapy. I am actually doing really good but in the last month my hair started thinning out on the sides. I follow the curly girl method (I can’t style right now, but still follow the method). I baby my hair. I prefer a dry cut so the only time a flat iron touches my hair is when I get a haircut. I had the stylist go through my hair to help me look for bald spots and see where all it is thinning. I’ve got a lot of hair so it is not noticeable until I pull my hair up on the top of my head. She was shocked with the health of my hair for not getting a haircut is so long. She couldn’t find any split ends. All she had to trim was half an inch of hair that was starting to look dried out. I follow almost everything you said in the video. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been since starting the curly girl method about 3 years ago. I wash my hair once a week and sometimes longer. I make my own dry shampoo but rarely have use it. If I need an extra wash within a week then I do a co wash or a very low poo shampoo. I do a bond treatment on my hair once a month to 2 months and a deep conditioning treatment every 2 weeks. I rotate my deep conditioning treatments with a hydration/moisturizing conditioner and a strengthening conditioner. Too much protein in my products start to make my hair feel like straw. At that point I have to wash my hair with sulfates to get the excess protein off my hair then it’s back to feeling super soft. Great advice on your video!
Hey Chris! Thank you so much for the advice on cleaning your brushes! I use all the products your recommend for fine hair and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t go 2 days in between washing! Made a huge difference. Today is day 2 and my hair looks great!!!!
I used to always follow the directions when I came to heat protectants but I never felt like I was getting the most out of it. I have extremely thick hair! I found the best way to make sure I was truly getting full coverage with heat protectant is to apply it with a fine tooth comb, section by section why my hair was still damp. It’s been a total game changer and I’ve been able to maintain a straight style for 3 days without having to do touch ups. Would 10/10 recommend using a heat protectant and making sure you are methodically applying it every time.👌🏻
@@LK-lz6lk if you have tangles when your hair it wet then I would advise against using a fine tooth comb with wet hair….but my hair doesn’t tangle even a little so combing through my wet hair is effortless and applying heat protectant that way is the most effective for ME.
@@kriss.universe8899 I'm glad & don't doubt it works for you! You did reccommend it tho so, I just wanted to point out it's in opposition to his recommendation in the video. I appreciate you added in your reply: you don't advise for those with tangles - very helpful!👊 Thanks!✌️
I immediately subscribed after watching this. I wasn't expecting honest advice that I can put to use right away. I cut off about 5 inches of my hair 6 months ago and I've been trying to keep it healthy as it grows back, trying and failing. I'm hoping the advice I got here will help my hair grow back healthy and strong!
Thanks for the great advice. I'm not sure if I can go three or four days without washing my hair, though. I do sports several times a week and I'm sweating quite a lot on the head. So my hair gets pretty sweaty as well. Any recommendations how to deal with this?
I would like to see a video from you with advice on how to deal with hard water damage for people that live in areas with hard water coming out of their shower.
I had the same issue. I took a chance and bought ION Hard Water Shampoo and Conditioner. I only used it once so far, but I felt an immediate difference in my hair.
Hi! I know how you always highlight how important leave-in conditioner is but the reality is that those are incredible hard to find at stores, at least where I live, to the point that I didn't even know they were a thing until I started doing more research about haircare. I find all those leave-in treatments, serums, whatever that you mention too, but a simple leave-in conditioner seems almost impossible to find (the only ones I found are on a more expensive side and still very hard to find)
Hi, I have curly hair and really struggled to find d a leave in conditioner that didn't weigh my hair down. Then my hairdresser recommended Equave which I bought on Amazon and it was a game changer. My hair is now soft and silky and it doesn't weigh down the curls. I highly recommend this very affordable product.
I have the same problem…seems like I can’t find a “simple” leave in conditioner…even on Amazon. A lot of what is labeled as leave in conditioner are leave in treatments. I really can’t find one…
Such great tips! Practical and not expensive. I wear the hair ties bc they remind me of being a high school and college athlete, and being that fit. Don't know if it's related or not, but I'm a longtime consumer of fish oils and daily vitamins, and I have thick lush hair in my forties (and I color it). Thank you!
I’m so relieved to know I’ve been taking care of my hair correctly! A bunch of little changes I’ve made over the last 7 years and I’ve noticed a huge change, my hair has never been silkier. I stopped using the microfiber cloth to lightly squeeze out excess water a while ago, it made my thin curly hair a little frizzy, but I love what I’m hearing!
Just to mention, if you don't have microfiber towel, just use regular cotton t-shirt, it does get more wet than regular towels, but it's much more gentle to your hair. I have curly hair and a towel didn't touch my hair for years, t-shirt does the job 😊
My hair is a naturally fussy (Multi-textured, porous and dry) and I made do for awhile but between the breakage from BJJ and then post-covid hair loss, It definitely now has a story to tell. A couple months ago I decided to put a little more effort into taking care of my mop and I'm starting to see a difference.
I hate when people say that no one should have to wash their hair every day. I have super oily hair and I live in Florida. If I don’t want greasy hair, I have to wash it every day. I could use a new brush every day and it’s not going to change the oil and sweat coming out of my pores. And before someone says dry shampoo, it does not work for me. I end up with greasy hair that now looks dirty on top of the grease. 😢
cannot find any good hairstylist in Palm Beach. I have dirty blonde hair and now that I’m in my late 40s I’m starting to get white hairs in the front of my head and no matter how much I pay. None of these hairstylist know how to cover this up so I’m ending up spending close to $300 to have white hair in the front of my head am I supposed to dye my hair because it’s easier to cover the grays?
There is some misinformation in this video, so do what works for you, and don’t listen to people who not only make crazy statements on what YOU should do with YOUR hair but don’t even know what your hair is like, your environment, or whether you work or live in more humid, polluted, and/or hot environments.
Wow your hair advice is very helpful I’ve been doing everything wrong. My hairdresser has always told me I need a trim every eight to twelve weeks to cut of the dry ends and help it grow healthier. I also got told to use a de tangle comb which I found rough on my hair. I was told to never use a brush on wet hair
Hi Chris, thanks for the wonderful tips...Could you also dedicate a session for those with curly hair...if you have specific recommendations for natural curls. All the best.
Thank you Chris! 💕 I always struggle with dry ends. I NEVER knew that you were not supposed to wash your ends with shampoo. I'm a cosmetologist and literally did not know this.
Wow In all my years I’ve never learned so much about hair! It’s almost like most hairstylists want us to not know what to do so we can keep going back to them.
Here’s a tip too- hands off your hair. I notice when I’m home and I don’t my hair as much. When I’m out all week, I touch my hair a lot. Think about how greasy after putting lotion on, after we eat, etc. I have to remind myself to stop touching my hair! It’s a silly little habit but it may contribute to hair getting dirtier much quicker. I have very fine hair so it’s got a propensity towards being oily, but it’s less when I follow this rule.
You’ve inspired me to take care of my care. So I’m starting over from doing very little. I tend to washing between 4-6 days so my hair runs a little oily. But it is constantly falling out. I purchased leave in conditioner for brushing my hair, then I saw your video about dry shampoo. I’m a little confused about when to use the leave in conditioner.
I wash my hairbrush when I wash my hair so I don't ruin my clean hair with a dirty brush. This one tip make my hair last so much longer between washes!
I went into this video thinking I was going to learn so many of my bad habits. But most of these things have been taught to me by my mum :0 I'm basically doing most of these things. I hate the old hair ties, so the moment my mum gave me a scrunchy I was stoked :> Thank you for this great video! I hope everyone will be good to their hair
I literally never knew there was so much to hair health... That being said, I have very badly damaged hair and the last time I went to a hairdresser or got it cut was 2 years ago. It's not like I think about it ever. I suppose I can use some of these tips, thanks.
Best hair education ive had in all my 63 yrs!!! So much sense made here! Thank you Chris, amazing and simple advice! Im fine flat hair person, that has wasted tons $ and time so long its crazy! ❤this easy, fun, way of hair advice😊
I have thick natural salt and pepper grey hair. I go between 4-5 days with washes. I'm in the process of getting my soulmate shampoo and conditioner. But have already started washing my hair properly NOW. Even if I'm using crap store products now. I already notice a difference in the weight. I'm just air drying for now till I get my redkin heat protector. I already have(medium length) hair breakage and dry scalp and hair so don't want to make it worse. All that back story to ask if you could do a video or do you have a video that talks about grey hair over 40-50 and is there a difference to taking care of it? Thx so much for all your help.
Wet hair sleeper here (waist length hair) great tips I pretty much use all of them ❤also I would add a silk pillowcase they are amazing. Since you mentioned the hair ties (totally agree with you) what would you suggest be the best protective styles as I said my hair is waist length and I need it up for work (dog groomer) or I accidentally clip my own hair 😂
Yes. My hair is super long and so heavy. No matter how I put it up on my head it's heavy and sometimes gives me migraines. I would love to find a style that helpes relieve those issues.
Your videos are the most insightful, clear and concise about hair care I've seen on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Thank you so much! 🥰🔥
Omg I am binge watching you because you bring us hope for a future of gorgeous hair! Thank you! I would travel to wherever your salon is in the world just to have a full refurbish! And I only let very very few people touch my hair 🙏🏼☺️
Some of these seem so obvious yet some of the mistakes are really hard to avoid. For example, I could never wear just a scrunchie or the invis thing for working out, or else my hair falls out of it constantly. Also, I have had hairdressers do the washing machine dry technique which is crazy. And lastly, curious if you have thoughts on the dyson airwrap in terms of a product that does less heat damage... ?
thankss very much for the good tips…some of which I’ve learnt from my grandma & mom last time although long forgotten by now…(haha, aren’t young anymore to remember my teenage hair advice). But you know what, the funny things is when I’ve never put hot stuffs onto my hair, it’s really healthy, thick and black (I’m Asian so it’s naturally dark black) but once i dyed my hair (got influenced by the Korean styles) and do curl perms, etc…people are telling me how much they like my hair looking nice any complimenting it despite the texture is all rotten (yes I can tell whenever after wash as my hair without any styling products on it nor beautifully permed curls…in wet state, it’s just horrid!) so guess this is the difference between professional views and public views, most people can’t really tell how spoilt our seemingly beautifully permed curl + brightly colored dyed hair are! 🤣🤣
Oh, I love how earnest you are at the end, begging us all to tell all our friends to stop using shampoo on our roots! Thank you for caring about everyone's hair 🤩
Thanks for the tips, Chris. Most of the things you said in regards of keeping your hair healthy, my mum taught me as a kid. ( I'm 50). I don't use hair dryers, or anything heated on my hair, like curling wands, hair straighteners etc, as I know that they can really damage your hair. I occasions use hair dye, but only every couple of years. The last time was about 4 years ago. As a result, I have pretty healthy, medium thickness hair, which is long enough to sit on. I cannot understand why people wash their hair almost daily, then complain that their hair won't grow, and isn't healthy!! They're just stripping their hair from all the nutrients they need for their hair to stay healthy. And it's causing the same damage they'd get from bleaching! Thanks for this video, I have learnt some things I wasn't to sure about, and I'm going to start buying a hair mask for extra protection. I normally use a leave in conditioner. Is it the same? Just wondering.🤔
Then let me explain, if I don’t wash every other day, the skin on my head turns red and burns and itches like fire. I need to use a shampoo that is suitable for this kind of skin and follow the instructions on how often to use it. My hair also looks greasy after one day of not washing (I use a wet hair brush that I clean after every use, so that’s not the reason) the reason is my bad skin which is caused by a mixture of medication I have to take and just bad luck with genes
Hair is an accessory. Your attitude is like saying you never drink, smoke, eat unhealthy or do something out of your comfort zone. Sure, you can. But lifes gonna be hella boring. I bleached -it did no damage. I have long, voluminous hair that easily grows even though I use heat, I don't use fancy products, I dye, etc. Don't obsess over hair. it's just hair and supposed to be fun.
I can’t speak on behalf of everyone who washes their hair everyday, but I go to the gym daily and it’s basically impossible for me not to wash it daily
Watched this video when it came out I knew some of these rules but started following it religiously except for the water part Dampen my hair with a mister at night because I do heartless curls. I do not get it too wet. My hair is 100 % healthier already. Best advice I have ever gotten. Thanks so much
I've tried multiple times to skip days washing my hair...but my scalp breaks out terribly when I do 😩 if I wash daily the breakouts go away. I'd love to skip days, but honestly I always feel so much cleaner when I wash everything, especially in the summer.
Hi Chris, your videos and tips helped me so much! Thanks for that. Only one thing is still not working. As you mentioned in this video, high humidity is the worst for fine hair. As soon as the humidity is a bit higher, I look like I haven't brushed my hair in days at all. Especially my white hair loves to do whatever it likes and not what I want. Any suggestions on what I should do? Thanks
Yes! My hair is very fine. I wear it up mostly. If my hair is down, it rubs on my back and I get a nest of tangles in the back of my hair. I hate it. Why does this happen? Does it happen to everyone? How can I prevent it?
THANK you so much for the digestible and helpful info. You've covered and answered every worry/concern I've had about my hair in a quick vid! Subscribed
i really like how in your videos you only mention necessary products. I'm a low spender when it comes to cosmetic and all that beauty stuff because i prefer to be more natural even if it is not prettier sometimes but nobody told me the necessary products, everyone was just trying to sell me a bunch of stuff which made me frustrated and overwhelmed.
This is the best hair advice video I ever seen! I struggle with extremely oily hair and I realized every time I would take a shower and not wash my hair it would look oily and flat and I have thin hair and not at lot of it so it’s not cute lol but I tried covering it with a shower cap but like you said the moisture would still go through and I honestly given up on trying to have nice hair but now I’m gonna go get that shower cap you mention and will be washing my hair brush, thank you! I’m exited to try this hope it works
It’s amazing to watch your videos are realize how just little tweaks can help our hair. I for one didn’t know about Washing my brush so often. Or using a shower cap. But it makes perfect since. Thank you. ❤
As a trans person ive never had the proper advice for hair care. Then I came across your channel some time ago and my hair is healthier than it has ever been, I thank you greatly! I love the unbiassed and actually helpful tips keep them coming ❤️
Completely lost me at a "use brush instead of comb". The second I switched from brush to comb, my hair got a new life. I've never had any breakage with comb, when my brush was always full of hair. I'll be damned if I ever use a brush on my hair again :P
yea with almost every haircare tip, theres exceptions, some hairtypes r gonna prefer x while some prefer y, im guessing this vid is just some overall tips if someone is experiencing damage and dont know where it comes from
Wow, thank you!!! I have been battling my hair being dry and brittle for months now and I thought it was just my age but I am doing so many things wrong. Thank you so much!!
1. Have a clean brush
2. Use a heat protectant
3. Use invisibobble or scrunchies instead of elastics/bands with metal wiring (?)
4. dont dry your hair with a towel washing-machine style, press the towel in instead
5. Detangle your hair with a brush with flexible bristles
6. Have leave in conditioner to help detangling (not treatment, serum etc.)
7. Don’t sleep with wet hair too often
8. Use a shower cap (terry cloth liner) if you're not washing your hair in the shower
9. Have a hair mask
- healthy hair, once a month
- damaged hair, once a week
- in the middle, every 2 weeks
10. Shampoo the right way
- only on your scalp, never on your ends
Thanks, saved my time. 😅

THANK YOU!
I tried getting my hair lady to brush my hair from the bottom up, and not with a comb, and she wouldn't listen saying it didn't make sense 🤦♀️
Ditto! Stylist of 23 years here and I even learned something today. Thank you
He always does :)
what to use for ends ???
Hair oil after the shower, after leave in conditioner. Also a repeat mask for 10 minutes every once in awhile.(before hair washing).
That’s what I do it’s actually a really good tip
This is what I do! I have ones I use shortly after washing on wet hair. I rinse them after every time I use them so they stay clean. Then I have ones I use on dry hair, which get dirtier. It really helps to keep them separate!
@@instantkarmalr omg I'm so going to try this!!
Thank you Hannah!
Thanks that's really good advice
Dermatologists say to wash your hair as often as you need. Every head is different. Some people are super athletic or have gross jobs and need to wash daily. Others can go days.
Dermathologists also only want your money and they know what daily washing will cause to your scalp
A dirty scalp isn’t going to produce good growth, pretty logical really
.. dermatologists think they know more then they do...
@@sweetbeep So what did they go to 6 years of school for?

You’re not pushing the latest product or allowing yourself to be swayed by companies looking to increase profits. If there is a way to give back to you as a thank you, please let us all know. Your work here has been life-changing!!!
Buy the products from his shop.
You can use silk pillowcases instead of sleeping bonnet.
Yeah right, how the eff would he know anything about hair? He has like none wtf
Bless you 🙏 ❤
"embarrassingly unruly" - that made me smile:)

Wash your hair in cold water ,not hot ,hot water makes your hair dry out
@@donkeyballs3307 I found that the kryptonite for my hair was the bad water quality - our water was chlorinated.

For a guy with no hair, he's really on point!
Brush or comb the bottom first then make your way up. That's what a salon lady told me.
That's what I do.
Hi I have really long thick cut hair n swim 5 times a week but managed to buy a really big swim cap for long hair . It’s a game changer
@@brooklynray9536 was literally just about to say that 😅 . Try a leave in conditioner or maybe even a hair oil
I've heard you should wet all your hair first in cold water as dry hair soaks up all the chlorine or other pool water like salt water, then put some conditioner on it then your cap
Thanks for the suggestions! I’m curious to hear from Chris and hear what his recommendations are!
What supplement is this?
@@beabrandy any iron supplement. In Canada you can get Feramax which is awesome and easy on the stomach! I would recommend blood work to get your ferritin level checked. 80-100 is optimal for women and excellent health overall (my dermatologist recommended 90-100 for optimal hair regrowth). It took me 2 years of taking daily supplements to get from 27-80.
True fact!
Iodine deficiency can also make your hair fall out!

Hello Nawrin, may i ask which Products you bought? Thank you :-)
@@stefanienoa4674 sure!
Moroccanoil weightless hydrating mask
I hate invisi bobbles! I still get the kink and it doesn’t hold my hair in a pony well. Plus it feels horrible and tugs on the hair when removing. Much prefer a scrunchie. Gives volume and a bigger bun too when wearing up.
I also wanted to add that I tried the “Invisibobble” and it also ripped out my hair for some reason. Maybe because my hair is super thick. So I immediately stopped and threw them all away. Now I stick to mostly big silk scrunchies and the thick black hair bands.
That’s been my experience with invisibobble as well, unfortunately. Now I just use hair clips or sometimes bobby pins when I want to put the hair up.
I really like the pantihose ones. I've never tried the invisibobble so can't compare. I don't like scrunchies (reminds me of my very awkward pre-teen years).
Yes these plastic ties are terrible, they have sharp edges aswell, there where the 2 ends are glued together
Watch his video about gym days. It’s one with Emily in Paris widget.
Oh wow. Can you give some of your tips on how you grew it out that long? I’m trying to grow out my hair but it wont go beyond my shoulder blade
Every video has more or less similar points to communicate and still I can't get enough of this channel and continue to enrich my knowledge about hair care.
Thank you for bringing such untainted educational content forward and transforming the hair health of thousands of people watching you!
Which shampoo and conditioner are you using??
Honestly I've been following you're recommendations and tips for the past 6 moths ans I've noticed a massive difference in my hair

A little add on, I struggled with hair loss and started sleeping with my hair in a braid. It’s grown SO much and feels much stronger
Satin or silk pillowcases help a ton too ❤
Another viewer saying Thank you!
Not only is my hair condition improving, so is my bank balance because, even with buying slightly more expensive better quality products, I'm using less of them & not having to use shower/drier as often saves on utility bills too.
Really appreciate your expert yet easy to understand advice.
You are the most honest person in the hair industry..love your channel.
I use Dawn Powerwash on my brushes. Breaks down all the oil so quickly and easily.
Genius advice, it all works, it actually works!. Have used your tips with cheap products and superb results have convinced me to change to professional grade. My journey continues, but at 66 I have longer and more lovely hair than in my whole life. Thx a million.❤
This man is a hair genius ! .I've been watching his video's and followed his tips and instructions . My hair has superimproved and growing superfast . He's explanations are simple , to the point and ( above all ) honest (!!) . So thank you Blow Out Professor for giving me healthy and beautiful hair . Greetings from Belguim .
Hi,
Thanks for the valuable info. Two requests -
1. Can you please make a video on best hair treatments to manage frizzy hair. For eg - Keratin, botox etc
I’m so glad I bought a terrycloth-lined shower cap! It’s made a huge difference in my hair. Never would have thought of it without these videos ❤
Would 10/10 recommend using a heat protectant and making sure you are methodically applying it every time.👌🏻
One tip was not to use a comb on wet/damp hair tho.
@@LK-lz6lk I recommend using heat protectant. I never recommended doing it the way I do it. 🤦🏼♀️
I'm no expert, but a good dry shampoo works well. It can give you an extra day or two between washes.
Good tip to try is to wrap your hair in a microfiber turbie towel when you shower. No moisture gets inside to your hair. 😊
I would like to see a video from you with advice on how to deal with hard water damage for people that live in areas with hard water coming out of their shower.
Absolutely!
I had the same issue. I took a chance and bought ION Hard Water Shampoo and Conditioner. I only used it once so far, but I felt an immediate difference in my hair.
I second that!
Salons sell them, not cheap. Or Amazon.
Your curls are awesome! ☺️

I usually do 2 to 3 washes and that helps
cannot find any good hairstylist in Palm Beach.
Today I was 33 yrs old and learned sampoo does not go on ends of hair. Thank you sir.
I hate the old hair ties, so the moment my mum gave me a scrunchy I was stoked :>

I have done every single one of these “don’ts” my whole life - I’m 54. 😳 I now have a shot at healthy hair - thank you. ❤🎉
I agree a scrunchie has never held my hair up
I use two invisibobbles to hold my hair. It works
thankss very much for the good tips…some of which I’ve learnt from my grandma & mom last time although long forgotten by now…(haha, aren’t young anymore to remember my teenage hair advice).
This is very true. As a MUA ,one of the questions I ask when a client has skin breakouts is Are they washing their makeup brushes regularly.
Oh, I love how earnest you are at the end, begging us all to tell all our friends to stop using shampoo on our roots! Thank you for caring about everyone's hair 🤩
stop using shampoo on ends* not roots 😳
Almost. You DO shampoo the roots/ scalp. Not the ends. Do the opposite w conditioner.

Hey professor! I'm an avid follower with a question: Can I use Olaplex 3 on never dyed/bleached hair? I'm having a bit of breakage lately
