The 2024 PRP GT-R Challenge, now in its 15th year, continued the tradition is breaking records as the quickest GT-R street cars in Australia attack Cootamundra Airport's runway! 20 cars ran into the 8s this year, so making the Top-10 is an huge achievement. Let's check em out.

@@Simeon301091 Except EV. What you buy is pretty much what you get...with ICE, you can do little here, little there over time and end up with anything you can think of.
Absolutely, anything can be made fast..."fast, cheap, reliable, pick two" as the saying goes. Hell, I've seen big ass diesel pickups deep in the 10s without even doing anything all that crazy. With modern tech, it's not really all that hard.
I just get a kick out of people that think EVs are the fastest things on the planet. They've never been in anything fast so they think their new TM3P is the end all be all. It's hilarious. I worked with a dude a while back that didn't know what I drove and he's like, "I got you..." and posted a Pic of his TM3. 🤣
These cars are SICK!!!...bunch of 95% full interior ACTUAL street cars (not fucking pro mods with license plates...) going deeeeep into the 8s on the unprepped Cootamundra. Friggin NUTS!!
@@Simeon301091 The Plaid after tax is $130k USD. With that same amount of money you could buy a $5k 1995 Honda Civic and dump $30K into it and beat the Plaid in a race while having money left over to buy a brand new Model 3 Tesla, and still have money left over to pay for a college education.

I might be missing something. Didn't king32 go 7.9 at GTR challenge a while back? Was that a different class or why isn't that considered the record?
7.9 in the prostreet class which was banned a couple of years ago. What you see in this video is the true street class. But king32 will forever hold the outright record at coota.

This is crazy but what’s even crazier the videos of Japanese doing mid 8 seconds pass in the 90s with H pattern r32 and r33 and spring loaded legs!!! I still didn’t find a good explanation for that!
As impressive as that was, alot of the Japanese drag racing was held at Sendai Hi-Land in the 90's and the track goes downhill toward the end
@@redeyerob2176 even if they did a real 9 sec passes still unbelievable in the 90s with H pattern. And honestly lots of us would rather have a 9sec manual H pattern gtr if we knew what they did to their gearbox not being destroyed at +1000hp and changing gear that fast!!
Kinda Sad how most of these skylines are Auto,strips their personalities completely,but i guess its all about breaking records so🤷♂️

These auto guys probably own other gtrs for when they want to shift gears. Those built autos probably cost a stock r32
Luckily you can buy your own manual Skyline and do as you please. But yeah they look they're having a terrible time strapped to these automatic rocket ships
Atleast they still run RB's and basically stock interior and they look OEM from the outside unlike that guy that built a full tube chassis R35 GTR that doesn't have a R35 motor or gearbox or awd system or brakes or anything R35 Odom racing he claims it's the fastest GTR in the world but it's not a GTR it's just a GTR skin over a tube chassis he can literally go make a fiberglass shell from any car and claim it's the fastest when in reality it's a blown LS or Hemi

Wonder if some of the cars that loose a bit of controll, and time, has lsd diff in front aswell, and 4wd torque controllers. Maybe its just the power coming on to hard to fast. Some real beasts :) Seems like some of the R32's need some more downforce at the front/balancing front to rear, They wander alot on the track. Top content as usual :)
The wandering is due to the tires. Notice the cars with 18 inch wheels don’t wander as much? It’s the soft flexible tall walls of the tires on the 15 inch wheels. Great for traction, very bad for stability. Aero would only make them wander more because it would put more force on the super soft tire wall, and slow them down at the top end.
Can anyone explain why after the runs the cars all seem to belch oil smoke when they let off?
Is it blow by oil vapour from all the massive boost that has made it through and not getting burned during overrun?

In laymen’s terms yes seqqy is a manual, H-Pattern is also a manual but in all the older vids it has a little H next to the records
yes. a lot of sequential are conversions. say r154 toyota 5 spd with a s1 sequential shifter lever. just pull gears

Yes, these are street cars. All registered and must meet certain criteria. Give them full slicks, etc, like a drag car and they will go another second faster.

I understand they're pushing for times but putting an auto into a GTR just kills it for me.. Yaay get ready for some stomp foot and wait.. Zzz.... at that point are you even really doing any driving? Kinda just sitting there steering... You may as well go over to the American big block platform and build one of there drag strip automatics... You'll be faster too. Kinda feels like they're just trying to force/squeeze whatever they can out of this platform not for ego but just stubborn.. Going to big block platform makes far more sense for this application at this point going auto for wins.

@@MotiveVideo No I haven't but if you're just going to build an auto in a 90's GTR why not just go over to the R35 platform instead..? Like I said I understand going for speed/time but I never seen any skill in automatic racing. At what point does it just turn into roll racing to see who can stomp their foot down the hardest?
Might be faster but nothing will ever beat banging gears driver/car skill.
