Another thing that helps is the fact that a large portion of the players using it are absolutely braindead. If they were smart, the gepard would shread anything. It's better than the shilka in every way: speed, penetration, damage, reaction time, accuracy, and even protection, as seen in the video. And yet somehow, when i play, i get more kills in my shilka than the allied gepards.
In real life it was also recently discovered that they're a great counter to small drones and loitering munitions. Everyone (especially the Dutch and German armies) is now realising that it was a mistake getting rid of their Gepards in favour of missile based anti air.
@@RoonMian Most aircraft at that time there much faster and they would be even faster by now, than a Gepard could destroy them, back 30 years ago. Drones and such are slow in comparison.

The one takeaway I learned when playing AA was to always wait until you were guaranteed to hit them. Even if non critically. Do t mindlessly shoot in the void. Not only does it never hit, but it also gives away your position making you less likely to successfully ambush the pilot in future engagements. Wirblewind went from ok to devastating real fast when I changed my strategy to this.
I think the reason targets above you seem harder to hit is because the shells are moving much more in line with gravity than they are when you're firing at a 25-45 degree angle. So they're going to be moving slower aren't dropping nearly as much, both of which affect where you need to aim.

Day 77 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.
During a visiting day in a Belgian military base in Koksijde, there were multiple older tanks and military vehicles being displayed, but the one thing that instantly stood out was the Gepard. It's massive and so much cooler in real life. There was a miltary museum there aswell with a see-through acryllic mock-up of a Gepard autocannon. Absolutely insane that those autocannons can spit out such a high rate of fire. I took epic pics and had an amazing day.
I wish Gaijin would add the real ItPsv 90 (the same turret on a T-55AM chassis). the 90 in the name signifies 1990 as the year of adoption and Finland bought its first Leopard 2A4s in 2002. what we have in the game now is the successor from 2015 (the same turrets moved onto a Leopard 2A4 chassis after original ItPsv 90 was put into storage). before the Leopard 2A4s Finland used T-55Ms in conjunction with T-72M1s, since the T-55Ms had better APFSDS ammunition purchased from Mecar and the Russians wouldn't sell better ammunition for the T-72M1s. some T-55s were in service even after the T-72M1s were retired, since they were used for mine clearing.

theres a tank museum in north queensland here in australia that i follow and they have a gepard and a funny fact they mentioned in one of their videos is that if you want to change belts or ammo or whatever from say anti air to anti armor someone needs to climb outside the turret and flip a little switch on the side of the tank theres apparently no way to do it from inside the vehicle itself lol

Taking down helicopter is harder than a light vehicle, is mostly because you hit mostly empty compartments, since mostly helicopter is a flying shell that has nothing inside 40% of the whole body, so you shoot through it rather than the components or pilots, and even bouncing shrapnel inside doesn't hit anything since there's nothing to hit, but it can shred a small piece off. At first it didn't made sense to me as well, but when you think about it, then it makes.

Late model Gepard tanks used F-APDS belts for their primary anti-air ammo. No AHEAD or HE-VT, but you got huge 15mm hollow point APDS instead.
