Glad to see you guys didn't get eaten by mountain lions! Always a pleasure to see a new video from you and especially a trail you've not shown before! You don't need any other excuse in my opinion! Just a nice ride!
Yep, no pesky mountain lions ruined the ride. :) We'll have to do another video showing the other end of the trail south of Placerville. Thanks for watching!
As you said at the ed, one way to deter an animal like a mountain lion from attacking would be to make yourself as large and intimidating looking as possible. Which would be pretty difficult to do being so low to the ground on a trike.
Hey Evan! Yep, it's just been non-stop rain and foggy gloom here. We're taking trike and bike rides in between storms in the slop (getting tired of cleaning the mud off the underside of the trike) but no sun for video shooting. March is just around the corner so maybe we can get a break from the fog and rain! Take care, Rich
What a beautiful trail and a great ride. Music is perfect. How did I not see this when it came out last month? Happy new year. Keep cycling away. I escaped New England a few weeks ago to ride south Florida all winter!btw… where do,you, get your short brim cycling caps? They are tough to find!1 anything ever happen with those vintage jerseys we were trying for last year?
Hey Mark! Happy New Year! You're not alone. Not many views on the last two trike videos we did. When I check my UA-cam home page for recommendations these day, there are no trike or bike videos. I think they changed the way they recommend videos. No, UA-cam, I don't want to watch Taylor Swift videos! :) You're lucky to be in Florida, it's been really cold here, with storms from Alaska heading down to us. I think I found those caps on-line somewhere. Can't remember where. I'll ask Joe and see if he remembers. We checked with the jersey manufacturer, and we still don't have enough folks to get a real discount on the jerseys. I'll let everyone know if and when it happens. Have a great year of riding!
@@bikestrikesrazors thanks for the info. Amazon has pages of the caps online. I will find a few interesting ones. I’ve been in Florida for three weeks and I’ve seen the sun one day so far.haven't been to pool or beach. It’s been very cool, windy, overcast and wet here. But it snowed in New England today. Been cycling and very little golf. I need a hip injection as I have a pretty bad left hip labrum inflammation. Can bike pain free but it’s nearly impossible to hit a ball as all the weight and stress goes into, left hip. Getting and appointment for steroid/xylocaine injection. Stay well and thanks for the updates. Your videos are great!
Wow, at least you're not in the snow! Good luck with the injections. For some reason, golf has always been a "tear down" exercise for me. After a good bike/trike ride I feel energized, but after a round of golf, I can barely walk, and my back is coming off. :)@@markfeldman6509
Being on a trike is a vulnerable position,so in areas where you are not on top of the food chain, I encourage you to carry a self-defense weapon to the extent as the law will allow 😎
Ok so I’ll give you a like, I hate UA-camrs who title a video with got to look title, but you admitted to it straight up at the start so I watched more of your video. Got some good information on a trail to ride my trike. After riding the American River parkway 2,000 times good to know I have other trails to ride in the future. So a thank you a Sacramento cycles.
Hey John! Thanks for watching! I'm not a fan of the "bait and switch" videos either. My original idea for the video was to go up a few years ago, when the mountain lion was up there and do some "reporting" on the situation along with the trike ride. Life got in the way, and it took me two years to get back the Placerville trail! It really is a nice trail, and the Diamond Springs trail head lets you cross a great old train trestle bridge. The only problem is that it's mostly all uphill one way. It is fun heading back. :)
Since I always ride with my wife, I just have to out run her...Ha. She will drop me on a long downhill on her VTX. I guess I will have to out climb her or I am "toast"...or Cougar Food...
LOL! I said that to Joe a few times on this ride! Ha! What little I know from observing domestic cats, I'd think the fast, low trikes would catch their (unwanted) attention and be worth a swipe or two. :)
@@bikestrikesrazors I was actually raised in Placerville and Camino. Such a beautiful piece of the world. And I’ve seen a lot of the world. All joking aside and any personal subjective opinions. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you could out ride a mountain lion... Even going down hill. Its a cute title to get viewers, but not a chance. The mountain lion can accelerate to it top speed in a few seconds. Much faster than you trying to pedal as fast as you can up-shifting through your gears. Plus... Here's the catcher (pardon the pun), you will NEVER know or see a mountain lion crouched down in the beige brush waiting to pounce on you from a advantageous position. Mountain lions chase down deer which can accelerate much faster than any person pedaling a bicycle or recumbent trike. I think you just used that title, just for clicks and people watching your down hill lolly-gagging ride. Pray that a mountain lion never see's you riding in that area nor decides it wants to prey upon you. P.S. The melodramatic music isn't quite the mountain lion test music to see if you are fast enough to out ride. Carry bear mace on your trike in-between your legs in the bottle cage. Quick accessibility! Rocks and sticks really don't work in defending a mountain lion who has decided that it chosen you for it's next possible meal. They have been beaten by people with sticks and rocks during attacks. Those items didn't even phase the cat protecting its prey (You). These cats are unbelievably strong, fast, QUICK and determined. I carry bear mace in my front water bottle cage, for such a incident were to ever happen. Nothing to ever take lightly! Where i once lived, a 200+ lb. man was running on a trail and was attacked by a mountain lion. The cat pounced on him, dragging him up a hill, and killed him, then ate his heart and liver, before the authorities retrieved his body. Be extremely careful in mountain lion country; and always carry bear mace. NOT PEPPER SPRAY.

Yep, from watching domestic cat behavior, I'd guess the fast, low moving trike would be irresistible to a cat! :(
You just need to be faster than the guy behind you! Great video with beautiful views.
Thanks, Greg! I'll remember that! It'll give me more incentive to train. :)
Nice scenic trail pretty fall colors thanks guys for sharing. Do you pedal faster with Jiffy socks 🤭
LOL! I may! Another video topic! HAHA!
I haven't heard from you guys, I hope all is well.

@bikestrikesrazors Great, keep slogging. This is a good time to strength-train.
Yep, I've never spent so much time on an exercise bike before. Definitely not as much fun as riding outside. :)@@evanking920

I hope you won't have to! I hope I won't have to! :)
