Remastered versions of their games. Its when the games we cherished growing up become almost impossible to find, and those same companies make NO EFFORT to even give us a way of purchasing it legally, we have no choice but to pirate.

@ReviewTechUSA I question how Nintendo got that figure of a million downloads, how can one even quantify that close to accurately, or (especially) get a nice round number like Nintendo seemed to somehow be able to do? IMO it reeks of the same number game (read: making stuff up) the RIAA and MPAA played in regards to piracy in the 2000s.

Find digitally isn't owning and never has been. It is however licensing. And the license itself has value. So it is theft if you do not. Further buying a physical copy of the game is owning.
I can't 100% side with Yuzu on this one, as they profited off of something that Nintendo is still profiting off of. It be different, if this was 2025 as then it would be more about game preservation.

Yuzu doesn't provide anything, you need as many other emulators supply copyrighted content yourself.

The thing is though Yuzu doesn't include the decryption keys you have to get them from an actual switch or a different site so it'll be interesting to see where this goes.
They don’t include the keys but they have a guide that tells you how to get them and lists all the sites you can get them from. Why would you even have that info on your site? Kinda dumb on their part

@@ReinMixTape I think Nintendo WILL lose because precedent was set for this sort of case when Sony tried to shut down TWO PS1 emulators that you had to PAY FOR in store and they lost BOTH cases, but you are able to download Yuzu for FREE. Also if Nintendo wanted to shut Yuzu down, why didn't they do it sooner?
@@CaptainB1994 I don't want them to win and I hope they don't. Maybe Nintendo want to maximize game sales in this last year of the Switch? It's already been speculated that Nintendo are sitting on some big releases until 2025 when they drop their console's successor. Any additional sales will tide them over during a dry spell.

Yuzu doesn't have any links to piracy on their site, in fact, they only give you instructions on how to dump your legally obtained games and console to use with Yuzu.

Because Nintendo would much rather you pay for Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions and play the ROMS old games on their emulators that come with NSO, because they'll make more money doing it this way rather than a one-time purchase of a game.
Yes they want you to pay for a subscription to play legal ROMS on their legal emulators, you can't even buy those ROMS unlike the Wii virtual machine.

He's an old guy with a sick kid and his career invested in being an online personality. Ya, apparently he did want to quit making news vids and did so briefly, because he thought streaming would suit his current life situation better, but, he choose to come back after closing the news side down and letting go of his editor. People change their mind about stuff and when you have a sick child and volatile career like an online personality that's a lot of stress added into the mix. Kinda sucks that people keep bringing it up all the time though.

The maker of Yuzu also made Citra. Nintendo wants to shut down the maker of Yuzu and Citra because they are worried that once the Switch 2 is released, some time after that, an emulator for the Switch 2 will be made by these same talented people.
AM2R still works on Series X in retail mode
Yuzu requires the user to provide the keys as they are not included in the emulator!
Also when TOTK was leaked it was only playable on Ryujinx not Yuzu.
Providing an emulator does not use proprietary code or any copyrighted material then programming and coding and emulator is legal.
Bleem established this in court and beat Sony. Sony had more money and even though Bleen won they ran out of money and went out of business. Perhaps Nintendo wants to try and drown Yuzu developers in financial debt even though Nintendo may lose the court case.
For me I'll just play it safe as long as I'm able to play import games 🎮 then I'm OK with it

I heard that Yuzu decrypts the roms when u enter a key. Big mistake. A safe emulator needs to only play unencrypted roms, like Citra. To keep it legal only decrypted roms should be allowed to run. Problem solved.

This is Sony VS Bleem all over again? Both Bleem and Yuzu improved the graphics of the games they emulated, both gained revenue with the former being paid and the ladder having a patreon, and they were considered illegal.

3:08 I call cap. Metroid Dread ran buttery smooth when it was released on the Switch. Solid 60, never any drops. Did it "look better" on the Switch? No, it runs at 900p docked. Obviously, the emulated version looks better, but it certainly did not "run better."
There are many games, like the Pokemon Scarlet/violet and Arceus, Xenoblade DE/3, that would've been a more fitting example. All of which I bought, then emulated because, damn, those games need a more capable console. Almost 30 fps is not an acceptable framerate, and almost 720p (But muddier) is not an acceptable resolution.
Yeah I thought Dread was heavily praised when it came out for being one of the better running games on Switch

Also I kinda disagree with you say xcde and xc3 are fitting example, xenoblade games run fine on Switch. Especially xc3, you don't need emulate this game to run any better in order to enjoy it lol. And imo, and kinda hot take, I prefer jrpgs in 30 fps way more than 60 fps, 60 fps and above can sometimes gives people nausia easily btw.

I'll start by saying: that's fair.
My experiences with JRPGs have mostly been at 30 fps, but there's a difference between a solid 30 fps and a 20-30 fps. 60 is unnecessary for the games I've listed, but it's highly requested.
Also, you're right about XC3. It was the best-looking one out of the bunch, but emulating it still made the visuals pop much more and completely eliminated any distracting frame drops. Solid 1080p 30, even when the party is maxed during combat.
I agree that these can all be 'tolerated' and enjoyed as is (anyone who says otherwise has no authority over someone else's enjoyment), but I disagree that it's better, and I can't wait for the Switch 2.
Hopefully, Nintendo make a console that is more advanced and, therefore, more difficult to emulate.
I played many games on yuzu im gunna say the AA and higher resolutions look amazing for metroid prime remastered looks incredible on a higher resolution
Yuzu sealed their fate when started providing downloads for TOTK for their patreon members.
Totk and xenoblade 3 on emulation was amazing. I had so much fun

I have my original N64 with an Everdrive X7 and a modded 3DS XL between the two of those I have complete access to all NES, SNES, GB, GBA, DS, DSi, 3DS, N64, N64DD content, any region any version.
I have access to so many games to keep me occupied for the rest of my life as long as the original hardware lasts.

I'm just saying but, to this day, the Switch doesn't provide a deadzone option for controllers by default, only some games have it. Yuzu and most emulators for that matter do.

Not to defend Nintendo, but they stated that the current availability of a game in stores is not relevant as to its copyright status, and that copyrights do not enter the public domain just because they are no longer commercially exploited or widely available.
Considering the GameCube, Wii and Wiiu are all virtually the same console with minor upgrades. I’m willing to bet the switch 2 won’t be a major difference with the switch 2. A computer may be able to instantly run switch 2 games through yuzu
Switch emulation was only ever possible from the hardware exploit with the original model. I am doubtful Nintendo will make the same mistake again.

I have a psp but I played the games on PPSSPP because it looks better and plays better. Some games even have a 60 fps hack.
Good thing I ordered the mig switch.

We've been through this multiple times. Allowing you to pirate a game 2 weeks before official release isn't game preservation. Heck wouldn't consider dumping your games for the purpose of emulation game preservation. Game preservation would be you dumping the games and store them somewhere safe without touching them.

If I was a game developer that would piss even me off, Nintendo or not. The devs of GTA6 were heartbroken when people leaked a beta build of nearly all their stuff. These people are essentially hackers at this point trying to leak games before they’re released which is definitely no bueno

These companies will never wake up and smell the coffee tho, especially when you consider that they could eliminate a lot of the piracy on Switch (which is probably low to begin with) by not overpricing games. Other little things too, like a virtual console instead of a bad online service. Software devs making programs to let you do whatever you feel with the hardware you bought don't have anything to do with people leaking roms and downloading them anyway.

At this point, I just say that Nintendo will just make sure you don't enjoy fan made projects because of piracy. If they won't perserve their games, then I am for piracy if it means that we can at least perserve games in some way until there's something proper for it to be perserved.

@javierrodriguez7254 It's not about being petty, it's about being able to play games that you have no way to play except for old hardware that will fail one day. In the case of being a theif, if piracy is the only way you can get it and there's no alternative to play by those games, then so be it.
The people who are brilliant at making games could be the kind of people who end up having antisocial tendencies, because people with high functioning autism are amazingly skilled but they are known for having antisocial behavior, I'm not trying to say these people could have autism, it's just something to think about when you look at a situation that seems to be motivated by greed involving nintendo
