I will say one thing: Switch emulation can be popular because it allows people to apply mods to their games! To do that on an actual Switch, you either need a very, very early iteration of the Switch for a physical exploit, or to pay out the nose to add a modchip.

yeah but why? at that point shouldn't be better just go for a steam deck?
@ The benefits as far as I can see of using Android are that you have all the easy access to Android apps. Your Netflix and Hulu should work a lot better on there than they should the steam deck. Still a lot cheaper than buying an iPad
I bought the Pro to flip. But now I'm keeping it, I keep trying to max it out w Burnout 3, but it just goes. It works in the lowest setting for power and fan management. MGS2/3 look better than what was available on the PS3 versions. It's almost weird how perfect everything runs. And the battery. I'm getting almost 9 hours of straight PS2 gameplay.
Totally on board with the Switch emulation thoughts. When I was in school I totally would have been tweaking on it for hours "because I can" even if I had a Switch. But now that I'm in my 30s and have too much stuff to do, I just want to play games and not waste time screwing around making things work. I pretty much play all Nintendo games on real Nintendo hardware because everything else so far is a compromise. A real Switch just works, and everything I've seen/tried so far for DS emulation is so much worse than just using a DS. I do have some of my PS2 and GameCube collection on my Steam Deck for convenience and if I don't want to go to the TV. Something like this would be cool for something smaller and lighter, and way longer battery life if you're not planning on playing bigger PC games on the go.
I feel you. It's fascinating for me to watch all these handheld work on emulators but I'm just too lazy to screw around to make things work. I don't play retro games but still playing nintendo. Just playing the real device itself make things work flawlessly. Also I play online a lot so Nintendo emulator was never a thing for me.
I am a retired network administrator. Back in my younger days I use to love tweaking on hardware and software to get stuff working. Thats how it was when I first started using Linux in the mid 90's. Today now that I am in my mid 50's, I guess I am just tired of trying to get things working right. I still like tweaking stuff, but not to the point that I use to. I just want things to work. There are so many of these devices these days, I feel that they should just work.
i think whats underrated about it is that if u compare it to like a steam deck for its price is the fact that the ayn odin is way smaller than the steam deck, runs quieter and arguably have the same if emulation capabilities
It may have the same emulation capabilities but it also lacks the ability to play most of the steam library which kind of more than makes up whatever cost difference there is.
@@pistolao_vr Who's going to game on a handheld for more than a 2 to 3 hour session anyway? The Steam Deck gets anywhere from 3-7 hours of battery life whenever emulating games (dependant on emulator). It's not exactly what I class as being an insufficient amount for most people. Hell, access to being able to play AAA PC games, having a fully functional PC and being able to play 80% of Switch games fairly flawlessly on the Steam Deck (far more so than on the Odin), is in itself probably worth paying out an extra $150-$200 for those privileges. However, the fact that the 256GB LCD Steam Deck can now be picked up for £100 less than the Aya Odin 2 here in the UK, just turns the whole decision, into an instant "no brainer". Hell, you could even pick up a Retroid Pocket 2S alongside that Steam Deck and still come in under the £450 price of a Aya Odin 2. The Odin 2 is just too expensive for what it is. If it was a £250 - £300 handheld, then it would be one hell of a good deal and likely a must buy. However at £450 it just gets outclassed and bitch slapped by both the Steam Deck and the Z1 Ally, which are both in the same ballpark on price. BTW, I've also got a feeling the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro due out next month for $200, will make the Odin 2 look terrible in comparison (around 75% it's performance for well under half the cost)
@@DarkSabrewulf123602 How retro is _retro?_ Is a PS4 a retro system? Does anybody want to play Atari 2600 for more than five minutes once? Something like this is overkill for OG Nintendo.
For $299, the best value handheld by a mile. The Switch has 4Gb RAM, so it should be possible for all games to run well on the 8Gb Odin 2. Emulation gets better each day. That Snapdragon Gen 2 is amazing value when you compare the phones that it comes with. This demonstrates that great tech can be made, for a profit at a great price. I would have thought that PS3 gameplay would be within it's reach.
@@Lasjah Firmware of the Odin 2 has been updated recently so that any model can use 4 additional GB of storage as swap. That has drastically improved Switch performance on the Base model.
Great video! The big thing the Odin 2 has going for it is it's CPU. This is one of the cheapest devices I've seen with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in it. But at this price, I'd recommend a Steam Deck
agreed if one does not mind that the steam deck is much bulkier, weighs 50% more and battery life is only half of the Odin. I have both devices, since owning the odin I do not really use the deck any more.
A big draw to me of the Odin 2 over a Steam Deck or ROG Ally is that it is an ARM device and thus has significantly better battery life when emulating PS2, GC, Switch, etc. I am also hopeful that through projects like Cassia we will see the ability to run Windows based x86 software through translation layers in the future.
But you miss out on the Steam Library.. There's so much more great stuff on there than just emulated games. I think that library adds a lot of value to the device. It even encludes pretty much all new Xbox titles and a good selection of ps4/ps5 titles like GoW and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Well the steam deck OLED has a 50Wh battery vs 8000mah. So the power saving really doesn’t matter that much. It is a smaller device so that counts for something I guess.
Switch is arm based, Native code Execution (NCE) runs every arm base instruction from the processor directly on your android device since it is Also arm based, no emulation, its all Native, with some exeptions but in general thats what nce does
steam deck is too big and has a terrible battery life. literally should not be considered a handheld at this point. I have large hands but it's still way too uncomfortable. imagine this with someone with average hand size.
@@poffy02 I find it to be far more comfortable than the Switch to be honest. Battery life is more than enough, it's for use around the house. (also battery life is better when playing indie games)
@@pdj2975 2 hours is worst case scenario. 4 hours is more realistic, 7 hours if you play light indies. Nevertheless, I would have been okay with 1 hour. Who cares. This is to play in bed, on the plane, on the couch or in the backyard. I have never had an issue. Steam has the largest game library that has ever existed, that's where value is.
I had a terrible issue with Ayn when i bought the first Odin Pro, i ordered a blue One, they made me wait 3 months more, then sent me a transparent one with broken leds
The Steam Deck is my favourite for general emulation, I don’t know if it does Switch, but considering its popularity and accessibility, at least many have an emulation device now.
Steam Deck does Switch pretty well. With the current price drop for the LCD versions, it makes the Steam Deck a comparable price to the Aya Neo 2. Course if you only care about emulation, the Neo 2 has better battery life and is smaller.
Thanks for this video I’ve had an Odin 2 base for over a month now and it’s amazing I would recommend you have the same keys as your firmware version and have force maximum GPU clocks and use asynchronous shaders are turned on in Yuzu! It drastically improves performance and the key/firmware thing fixes issues like the MK8 Deluxe MII issue! Also Aethersx2 is no longer in development so make sure you don’t grab the latest version you get version 3668 because it’s the same as the latest but it doesn’t have ads and make sure you turn off auto updates in the play store!
@@WulffDen awesome I have a steam deck as well but switch emulation on both of these devices is more for fun otherwise I’ll just play a game on my switch for locked fps, but for all emulation I’ll use Odin 2 and steam deck for modern experiences!
I agree that Odin 2 vs Steam Deck is an interesting and real comparison. However I think you've failed to mention that you can play Wii, Gamecube and PS2 at an upscaled 1080p resolution as well as great performance in FPS. These games simply don't look or perform as good on the Retroid Pocket 2 and Anbernic RG405M
I’d been had this internal debate since the Steam Deck Oled released, which one is really worth it? Odin 2 or the Steam Deck Oled? Idk man, idk I hate it
@@Carcosahead The way I look at it, the Steam Deck is more of a gaming PC alternative than anything else. The battery life isn't that great and the thing is big and loud. I don't see it as particularly practical for on the go gaming. It is more powerful though and will play "modern" PC games. It's more suited to gaming on the couch or somewhere like a hotel room or a relative's house. The Odin on the other hand is smaller, quieter, and has a better battery life. In my opinion, it's right on the edge of practicality for gaming on the go. It's large, but still small enough that it's not a chore to take it with you when you're on the go. It's perfect if you just want to play some N64 or Gamecube games while you're out of the house. It just depends on what you want. Personally, I wish I could get something with the power of the Odin 2, but in the footprint of a 3DS XL. Something you could reasonably fit in your pocket. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon though, so I might just pick up the Odin 2 or the pro version.
I did actually broke a nail while opening the microsd slot... 🥺 But great video! I was waiting to see what your thoughts were on the Odin 2. I bought it and pleasantly surprised by the whole purchasing experience (especially after all the Loki issues). Thanks for clarifying the AYN and AyaNeo btw, I used to get them mixed up when I first started getting into the space cause I didn't know any better and I'm sure there will be others in the same boat too. Thanks man!

I love my Odin Lite. It's so good all the way up to PS2 and GCN games. It's the perfect size and feels great in my hand. I'd love an Odin 2 but I have so many handheld devices today including an Analogue Pocket, Steam Deck, and various others. Plus I just bought the Odin Lite about a year ago. Just can't justify the cost as much as I'd love to have one. I also have a Razer Kishi V2 and a Galaxy S23 Ultra phone that will perform better than the Edge.
$369 for a handheld that can play switch games better than the switch and even the steam deck for the most part is actually an amazing deal, not to mention how small it is in comparison to even a regular Nintendo Switch.
I have a Steam Deck and love what it can do, but find that unless I specifically need it for a PC game running locally off the system, it isn't my go to. Too bulky, battery life is poor, etc. It's just not an ideal emulation machine and despite spending significant time setting up like 1tb of emulation on it I removed it all and dedicated my Tab S7+ to that role. Much better experience, infinite battery life, killer screen, PS2 is no problem. It was great. But carrying a tablet and 8bitdo controller isn't super portable either... so that's where this comes in perfectly. It's definitely a niche device and if you only want one machine then Steam Deck will absolutely do it all, it just isn't necessarily the best option if you can spread things out and delegate a bit.
Anbernic 405M and V are fun but even close as an odin 2, i bought the ambernic 405V because i thought i have to wait long until my odin arives germany. In the end i dont even wait a month for it (bought it on the Ayn website) and i can say there are worlds between These two devices
The Switch lacking game saves on the carts themselves or offering a way to put saves onto an SD card is enough reason alone for me to dump and play my Switch on devices like my Steam Deck. I can go between an amazing upscaled higher FPS game with mods to remove dynamic scaling or blur on my desktop or laptop and then play it on the PC handhelds with an experience similar if not better than the switch hardware and it's super easy to manage your saves. I just picked up a copy of Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince and it says "Does not support cloud saves" on the back of it. A title released like a week ago?!??!
There’s a few games that don’t support cloud saves. All the main Pokémon switch games among them. I’m assuming in part to prevent the ability to dupe monster by trading, closing software, restoring from cloud. It’s frustrating that this was two companies solution to prevent duping in their monster collection games. Especially when you might actually need to restore a save for any legitimate reason.
I am not interested in Switch emulation, and that's even a tricky matter for a lot of reasons... I totally agree: if you want to play Switch games, just buy a Switch. But I definitely love the idea of upscaling PS2 and NGC games, and even use a handheld as a console to plug to TV: that's the main reason why I would consider an Odin2 (and also because it seems great with controls and ergonomics). However, I totally agree: price is an issue, and there's the Steam Deck just at the corner. Having something slightly less powerful, just to have 1080p PS2 without Switch emulation, around 250$ maybe, and in a smaller form factor, is what I would seriously consider (Retroid Pocket 4 hopefully).
My ROG Ally is great with some games…I mostly have to emulate Switch on PC. I also have an OLED switch and I buy the games I emulate…but the graphics for most games that are Mario are very dated.
The Retroid pocket 4 will be a great fit for you. By the way: When using emulation you can mod the games. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for example already runs breath of the wild with 60 FPS. something the switch will never be able to.
@@franzgucktyoutube When I wrote this comment, the RP4 Pro was not out yet. Now I can say that this device is the closest to my ideal handheld, but being honest I am still more than satisfied with my Retroid Pocket 2S, so I don't feel the need for an upgrade right now. I think also the upgrade to the RP4 Pro would not be worth, and this is because audio is better on the RP2S, as well as button positions (start and select in particular). I also need a really compact device, and RP2S is better also in this sense.
I would love to hear about it's cloud/streaming gaming potential (gamepass, steamlink, PS Remote Play, etc..) and compare it to Logitech G Cloud or PlayStation Portal that also just came out.
I think the only appealing aspect of having a console like this that can also do switch is that you don't have to mod a switch to do similar; and I feel like game wise, you'd want to do it to be able to run modded or hacked games. Animal Crossing is one good example with a pretty good modding scene, but Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has an amazing one. Because it was created in Unity, fans have been able to do all kinds of stuff to the game from fixing following pokemon, bugs, and removing the chibi-artstyle, to adding in every single pokemon across every generation including Scarlet and Violet, and adding back stuff like Mega Evolutions (as well as silly stuff like "play as kirby"). It's very cool to have that as something you can turn and play on the go... (but also kind of sad the game couldn't do all this stuff already). It really seems like Pokemon BDSP is going to become the future Pokemon Fire Red in terms of creating hacked games and fan projects.
The point this review is missing when comparing the Odin to a Steam Deck or other X86-handheld ist battery life and portability. The odin 2 weighs 35% less than the Steam Deck, is way smaller and has much better battery life. Hall-Effect sticks come on top. Switch emulation on Android is still in its infancy but the fact that as of writing the Odin 2 can handle Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing and basically any Indie Game flawlessly is remarkable. in a year or so it will basically be an adequate replacement for a switch. Without stick drift. The max variant of the Odin is too expensive, indeed, the pro model for 369 bucks might be the best deal in tech for emulation fans right now. By the way I love RetroGameCorps;-)
I have a question for all of you knowledgeable emulation people. When do you think the next version of the retroid pocket would be dropping? I was looking at the rp3+ and the rg405m (which I was gonna choose) but then realized both are about a year old now and idk if it would be wiser to wait for a new version that handles gamecube a little better
Us customers definitely know when a product we have no relation to will be coming out. It's coming out tomorrow. Believe me because I'm knowledgeable with emulation.
I could be wrong, and nothing official is out yet, but Retroid dropped a teaser for the rp4 over thanksgiving. Just a pic saying "What are you thankful 4?" So I would expect some info early 2024. As to when its out, total guess, but late 2024... 😊
@@Cavo1526 of course nobody knows for sure but that's the kind of info I was hoping for. I've been watching emulation videos for only around 3 weeks so I thought there would be some pattern in the release dates since there are more than 3 versions of the rp already. Thanks a lot ❤
I've never noticed before, but Bob's audio levels were all over the place in this video. I blame my new phone, having different speakers than I'm used to.
I think it is really easy for one to take the high-route on emulation and piracy when they get half their devices free and the price of games and consoles is not even close to an issue at their salaries.
@@crisiswax nah I don’t really think there is. I think Bob just wants to focus on other things. That fact that Will joked about it on the podcast like that (Wulffden podcast) just makes me think there isn’t really much there it was just time.
Thx B for going back on that razer edge comment lol not just as an odin fan but i did spent a little time with the edge as well its not even a race i love my odin 2 base and yes it runs juat as well as the others even nintendo switch now with some updates
I would probably get one of those for "high end" mobile gaming, games that are more complex in the play store benefit from having controllers, and by having that big screen i could use it as a tablet.
This is one of those things I would think about buying if I didn't already own a Galaxy S23 FE and a Galaxy TAB S9 Ultra which, especially both are very capable at emulation and Dockable to my TV, so it's like having a Switch for retro games and android games

You and Wood should have just kept your tweets to yourselves.
I honestly feel like you may as well get a steamdeck if you're going to do this at all. It has the cheap price or the other versions for more money, and can do everything here. And if that's not enough, wouldn't you get the ROG Ally?
I've been considering about getting the Odin 2 for the past little bit. When I watched your video, I almost bought it... but then I started doing more research on this device. It seems to have growing issues with the screen and battery right now... Screen: some people got their new devices recently (past 4-5 months) and their screens arrived with dead pixels. From my research on Reddit, Ayn changed the policy with Odin 2's dead pixels a few times: initially, they would send you a replacement device promptly (9+ months ago)... then they send you a screen…. Then they give you a $10-15 refund… and now they would tell you this is the "Standard" of their screen and do nothing -- with 2-3 giant pixels. Battery: a growing number of user are reporting spicy pillows... the number is not too bad yet, but it's a bit concerning be cause it's not even a year yet... Ayn seems willing to replace it if you send it to China within the warranty period.
I own this device. Too many merits for an android gaming handheld. This is definitely not a simple android device + a controller. - SD 8 gen 2 - 16GB of RAM - 512GB storage + micro SD card slot - Active cooling - Long battery life - 6 inch full size 16:9 screen - wifi 7 & bluetooth 5.3 - Hall effect joystick with LED - full function type-C which can output 4K60fps video - etc... around $450 is amazing.
Would you say the Odin 2 is worth it if I wanted to use this as a purely emulation device & on rare occassion PS app streaming? I was always interested in getting an Odin but I skipped out on it and got a Steam Deck. Fast forward to months ago and I had sold all of my consoles and games. I do still want a PS5 and Steam Deck OLED sometime this year but to preserve space on my Steam Deck I want a powerful and separate handheld purely for emulation so I don't have to waste space on Deck for that. I want to use PS5 for main AAA games, Steam Deck for pc games and indies and a handheld for emulation. My favorites to emulate are Gameboy Advance, SNES, PS2, Gamecube, and Switch. Also would 12gb of ram suffice or is 16 needed?
@@-Crustyboi- I bought Odin2 for a month and a half. I'm freaking love it. I use it every day mainly to play switch games and PS2, NGC games with HD textures. Also streams from work back to my PS4pro and PC at home. Odin2 covered the emulation of all retro consoles up to Wii and partial switch games. Some heavy switch games doesn't have good performance at this moment on android. You may have to check it yourself. I think the main difference from other handhelds is the Odin2 can upgrade the gaming experience decently and more premium. The grip and is comfortable. The portable size and weight are acceptable. A playable game is not enough for me. I can run it with 3xRes + HD texture, speed up the games. I can still play games while transferring 10GB files from PC via wifi ftp. I didn't tried a pro version. But the advantages of having 16gb RAM is running any high demand apps stable and do multitask smoothly. I can't upgrade the RAM from 12gb if I found the problem is because of not enough RAM.
I'm someone who will always prefer the ease of setting up a handheld device with Windows.. that said. With the current options available the Odin2 strengths lie within it's insanely impressive battery life and overall hardware quality. I DO NOT like Android or dealing with it's setup BUT it is the ONLY negative I have. The O2 destroys Steamdeck in every single way. My O2 PurpPro is the best powerhouse handheld I've ever owned
I have a (LCD) Steam Deck and mostly recently a used Retroid 3+. I stopped buying consoles at about the PS3 stage (didn't play this one that much) and play far less than I used to. I play mostly emulated gameboy Tetris (90%) of the time. The rest of the time I will play Mr Driller (Dreamcast), Zookeeper (android) and Baku Baku animal (Saturn). The last one has been the most challenging to emulate but works on my current machines. The screen retroid is a bit small whilst the Stem deck is bulky to take travelling. I was considering an Odin 2. I noticed that my phone (Galaxy fold 5 ) has the same chipset as the Odin 2. I inserted into a gamesir x2 controller, but Baku baku animal would go black when rotating to fit into the gamesir. I was fiddling with the Yaba 2 app and chose openGL instead of vulkan and lo and behold, Bakubaku works with the rotated screen. I might not get an Odin 2 after all.
With shipping and tax it cost 500€ in EU, I bought a second hand switch lite for a 100 made it cheaped for a 100 and bought a 1to micro sd for a 100, so it's a total of 300€ for the ultimate handheld, and for the other game, I bought the new gamesir g8 it turned my phone to a perfect retro device

emulating indies is only ok if you actually buy it. ive never used any steam software, but own multiple titles just to support some projects ive played 😅
one thing thats nice about nintendo switch emulation is that games play better, example being pkmn sword and shield run terrible on the switch but emulated on pc they run great
Got my Odin 2 pro with the screen protector but had an issue where the case I ordered from backing this device never showing up! I emailed Ayn about this a week ago and no response yet. Great device but the customer service over here, kinda mid.
I'll be getting my new Steam Deck OLED in the mail tomorrow...so I'll have that, a Nintendo Switch, and the Powkiddy RGB30..I should be set for awhile...
Another banger video. This honestly sells me a lot on the original Odin and Odin Lite since I don't care to play Switch games. And if I want to play AAA modern games I literally built a PC for that reason lol.
Ayn seems cool but if your walking around with a $800 - $2,000 Android phone/foldable just buy an controller grip for your phone or atleast use an Xbox controller if you already have one. Your android phone can absolutely destroy these cheap Android handheld... If you have money to waste... Your better off wasting it on a steam deck, Asus rog ally extreme, or Lenovo legion go.
Personally I'm glad for Switch emulation. I don't want to have to take my Switch out and about with me, partly because I don't want to risk the hardware but also because I have to take a bag with me if I do. My phone on the other hand I can slip in my pocket and I was going to have it with me anyway. Switch emulation also makes my phone the only place I can play all of the Telltale Walking Dead games portably, as Michonne isn't available on Switch.
This device is downright fantastic. If they stuck an Oled screen on it, and Yuzu gets from the infancy stage in the next year, switch will have a P R O B L E M
@@The_MEMEphisimo switch 2 would have already been released at that point and it honestly doesn't matter after that cause now the goalpost will be moved to emulate switch 2 titles.
I mean with the size of it, it's more of a true handheld than the Switch. It looks like something I could actually tuck away in my pocket instead of having a extra accessory specifically for it like a bag or carrying case. The Switch Lite was such a waste of potential. They could've made something much smaller and maybe even have given it a nice clamshell design. You can technically take the Switch on the go, but it's nothing like a 3DS or a PSP. Unless you have really big pants, your Switch isn't going to fit in your pocket, especially with Joycons attached.
To avoid being overwhelmed with the plethora of Retro handheld options, do like what PC gamers have always done. List down what you want first THEN filter down what's available on the market. 😀
Great review. I think what you get for your money is worth it. Yet get a (somewhat) portable unit that can (for the most part) play everything up to PS2 and some Switch. The benefit I'm seeing here is the "load emulator and play" and getting full frames. I have a 405M and while I like the design, I do find the screen to a bit too small and PS2 emulation is iffy. I'm going to upgrade to this because I will have the comfort knowing it will play everything I want and its portable (just not pocketable) which is fine for me.
This is a cool device, it really shows what an Android gaming handheld can do, but I could only see somebody getting it if the size of the Steam Deck is a deal breaker for them.
How does it compare to the base z1 version of the rog ally? You can find them at best buy right now for $319 (open box) or $350 brand new.... you're point of just buying a switch instead is more about being able to do that and MORE as apposed to buying it just for that...i was interested in the odin 1 or loki moreso than the odin 2 (i like having the odin and loki logo in the bottom left 😄).... But again, considering the current sale at best buy for the rog ally i would like to know how it would compare considering it's even cheaper than the steam deck at the moment.
I love that my snarky tweet about paying $11 per question showed up in this video 🙂

@ The benefits as far as I can see of using Android are that you have all the easy access to Android apps. Your Netflix and Hulu should work a lot better on there than they should the steam deck. Still a lot cheaper than buying an iPad
@portability and battery life. The steam deck is terrible for both.
@Android OS is so much more user friendly. Things tend to just 'work' on it, I like Steam OS..
Why is the title "the best way to play switch games" if it can barely run switch games well? Isn't the steam deck way better for that?
Because it's clickbait that gets a video more views which = more money
Wait for Strato emulator this year
Because it's wullf den
why am I still subscribed this guy fell off so hard
It's mainly cause it's not the system's fault, but the driver for switch emulator. Once that get fixed, it will be a different story
He took a note out of wood from “beatemups” and clickbaited
i think whats underrated about it is that if u compare it to like a steam deck for its price is the fact that the ayn odin is way smaller than the steam deck, runs quieter and arguably have the same if emulation capabilities
Let`s also mention the extra amount of play time you can get out of an android device when compared to PC/Linux!
It may have the same emulation capabilities but it also lacks the ability to play most of the steam library which kind of more than makes up whatever cost difference there is.
@@AwkwaBear I have a gaming pc for that. I think devices like this are more for retro games.
Did you get the Bass model? I was thinking of getting it but all the reviews are all for the Pro or Max. How’s the performance?
@@Lasjah Firmware of the Odin 2 has been updated recently so that any model can use 4 additional GB of storage as swap. That has drastically improved Switch performance on the Base model.
@@franzgucktyoutube Thanks dude! Now I just have to wait until the Base model comes back in stock.

The savage joke about quitting the podcast during the comfort grip ad was gold 😂
Great video! The big thing the Odin 2 has going for it is it's CPU. This is one of the cheapest devices I've seen with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in it.
But at this price, I'd recommend a Steam Deck
@MrSujano That doesn't look like Aethersx2's website. Are there updates for the emulator?
agreed if one does not mind that the steam deck is much bulkier, weighs 50% more and battery life is only half of the Odin.
They're already working on making Linux compatible
tbh the other factor for me was weight. I got tired of holding the Steam Deck for long periods of time. @@Nucleosynthese
Well the steam deck OLED has a 50Wh battery vs 8000mah. So the power saving really doesn’t matter that much. It is a smaller device so that counts for something I guess.
@@derosecm it does, it does a lot, have you seen any actual tests?
Switch is arm based, Native code Execution (NCE) runs every arm base instruction from the processor directly on your android device since it is Also arm based, no emulation, its all Native, with some exeptions but in general thats what nce does
yes, that is why as of now even most AAA games from Nintendo run with fantastic performance
The ad is 🔥!!!😂 2:59 It had me on the ground rolling!🤣
I would choose a Steam Deck above the Ayn Odin 2 any day of the week. That Steam library is just so huge, it adds so much value.
Just can't do the screen. OLED or not it's 720/800p. The PPI is booty.
steam deck is too big and has a terrible battery life. literally should not be considered a handheld at this point. I have large hands but it's still way too uncomfortable. imagine this with someone with average hand size.
enjoy your 2 hours of play time, steam deck needs a tether to a power bank
I love the aesthetics of your videos and representation
Thanks for this video I’ve had an Odin 2 base for over a month now and it’s amazing I would recommend you have the same keys as your firmware version and have force maximum GPU clocks and use asynchronous shaders are turned on in Yuzu! It drastically improves performance and the key/firmware thing fixes issues like the MK8 Deluxe MII issue! Also Aethersx2 is no longer in development so make sure you don’t grab the latest version you get version 3668 because it’s the same as the latest but it doesn’t have ads and make sure you turn off auto updates in the play store!
thanks for supporting this amazing creater
Good tips. Ill set that all up!
@@WulffDen awesome I have a steam deck as well but switch emulation on both of these devices is more for fun otherwise I’ll just play a game on my switch for locked fps, but for all emulation I’ll use Odin 2 and steam deck for modern experiences!

Watching this and seeing Yuzu again made me furious with Nintendo again! To hell with Nintendo!
Idk man, idk I hate it
@@Carcosahead
Really not comparable
@@Carcosaheadif you want to play pc games, buy steam deck.
Simple as that.
I did actually broke a nail while opening the microsd slot... 🥺
But great video!
Thanks man!
I find the Micro SD slot is un-openable without a tool.
I've been playing Switch games on a GPD Win 3 lately, recently got one, really love that device.
"A yellow grip means you're about to quit the podcast with that person".
.....you take that back right now, sir!! Wood is a delicate soul and you'll break his little heart!
I love that Bob threw shade on his leaving Nontendo podcast during the sponsorship segment.
I also have a Razer Kishi V2 and a Galaxy S23 Ultra phone that will perform better than the Edge.
the odin 2 is on par with your s23, as its the same cpu
Having something slightly less powerful, just to have 1080p PS2 without Switch emulation, around 250$ maybe, and in a smaller form factor, is what I would seriously consider (Retroid Pocket 4 hopefully).
odin 2 has great switch emulation and I don't want a switch because of the shitty OS, android gives you much more
My ROG Ally is great with some games…I mostly have to emulate Switch on PC.
Start using winlator. If they can make a cheap handheld that can play some pc games... Well that would be insane.
Hold up! Marriage?
Just a pic saying "What are you thankful 4?"

This is one of those things I would think about buying if I didn't already own a Galaxy S23 FE and a Galaxy TAB S9 Ultra which, especially both are very capable at emulation and Dockable to my TV, so it's like having a Switch for retro games and android games

Why did your title say that it was the best device to play switch games if your recommendation is that it’s not? Weird lol.
Clickbait 🤑🤑🤑🤑
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored 5338 points. Can't wait for an updated version with larger screen!
The whole point is the smaller profile. Otherwise, just get a Steam Deck.

Agree
The ROG can run switch games really good even ps3 and Xbox 360 games run amazing on the ROG Ally just make sure to get the Z1 extreme version
This device is downright fantastic. If they stuck an Oled screen on it, and Yuzu gets from the infancy stage in the next year, switch will have a P R O B L E M
The switch is 6 years old it doesn't matter anymore
if people stopped glorifying piracy maybe nintendo wouldnt have a problem?
@@jub8891 if people stopped licking the boots of billion dollar companies that don't give a shit about you maybe people wouldn't have to pirate
@@The_MEMEphisimo switch 2 would have already been released at that point and it honestly doesn't matter after that cause now the goalpost will be moved to emulate switch 2 titles.
Switch is about to be replaced.

Unless you have really big pants, your Switch isn't going to fit in your pocket, especially with Joycons attached.
my odin 1 base came exactly 2 weeks after I ordered it
To avoid being overwhelmed with the plethora of Retro handheld options, do like what PC gamers have always done.
List down what you want first THEN filter down what's available on the market. 😀
I find Discord a good source of information to help sieve through what handhelds to get per use basis.
