This song was such an experience in their early 80s tours. The whole audience would put their face, cover up their eyes, and not look until they signaled - then the laughing demon heads and evil clown would appear! The who;le audience would pogo and yell to the "HA HA HA HA!" Yes Devo would play real guitars - because they were a real, hard-working, sweaty and ROCKIN' band! Thanks, Devo, for concerts that remained highlights of the past 30 years.
Devo emerged into the light and people didn't know what to make of them except Rock Stars. !!!!! Mark Mothersbaugh changed the face of American Music, we're so lucky he did.
hell yes ! they opened with this song thursday, july 1st 2010@ hollywood park. they were as incredible as the first time i saw them / stage and effects all of it Phenomenal ! were all D E V O !!!
Those eyebrow specs look like something I won from one of those claw machines at a Wal-mart. Love those keyboards! The clown is just creepy to the nth degree (love it!).
@1devo6587 That 1982 show was great! Yep, I was fully aware the Letterman thing was just a recording. I wish that 1982 show would get released with a bit of clean up.
By the gods...I saw this in the what, late 70's?, early 80's? and to this day, I still think about it when taking toast out of a toaster! I really need to see someone cosplay Spaz Attack ! LOL!
@1devo6587 When Devo performed "that's Good" on Letterman Bob 2 used the same keytar he is using in this video but other than that I've never seen him use it anywhere else.
most of devo's work is "disturbing"...actually just because it has to do with things that most people refuse even to think about, but are indeed real ....
Hi...Devo was not just whip it...when I meet their music I was like cool! and l always look for their videos but hard to find Im talkin mid-90's...but later I found the DVD and I was like Wow! Masters !
@1devo6587 IT because they're just props really. "Oh no its Devo" was made on a point a click computer much like today, the keyboards were never played like that just programmed and played back by the machine.
@TypicalJAFO My husband has a niece who was *terrified* of this video as a little girl abou 6 when this came out. My would cover her eyes and run out of the room crying. He would tease her by laughing "HA HA HA HA!" with his head thrown back in the same way. Boy he was mean to her sometimes! She loved it, as well as getting mad about it, too.
This song has been out for awhile and yes Captains Kirk and Picard, we are into the 70s, 80s, and beyond. The time on my watch says 2016 but that's probably fake. If it's for real we're making good time.
Vintage computer graphics... clowns... I can see you... and I know what you do. Holy shit, this is completely disturbing. Still a better love story than Twilight, tho.

As an 80s DJ I played this on 12" and the crowd rocked. I got so many people coming up and asking me who it was. I miss the early 80s.
No, not weird and wonderful ... just absolute genius!! One of the most creative and influential bands ever ...
I almost forgot how truly wonderful this band was (is).
Wow! What a rush that was. I must have seen this video ONCE back in the 80s on MTV. It was great to see it all over again for the first time. Thanks!
My daughter (who's now 30) knew all the words to this song when she was three years old! Now my GRANDKIDS like this video!
Found one that wasn't muted by greedyass WMG - thank you!!!!
Devo emerged into the light and people didn't know what to make of them except Rock Stars. !!!!! Mark Mothersbaugh changed the face of American Music, we're so lucky he did.
Love this song. The mad clown laughing was my favorite bit in the video.
I always love that synth that kicks in near the end of the song!
hell yes ! they opened with this song thursday, july 1st 2010@ hollywood park. they were as incredible as the first time i saw them / stage and effects all of it Phenomenal ! were all D E V O !!!
They played two nights ago in Clifton Park, NY...no keytars. But an awesome show! So glad to see these guys finally come back to save us.

Toaster incident. Yeah!
@1devo6587 IT because they're just props really. "Oh no its Devo" was made on a point a click computer much like today, the keyboards were never played like that just programmed and played back by the machine.
OH NO IT'S DEVO

That wrestler John Cena stole his signature "you can't see me" move from DEVO! It's at 31 seconds in.
I was just thinking the same thing haha
Well good thing is...we can still hear it...
ha ha ha ha haaaaaa. awesome.
@level242 They are more unique than any other band who has ever been unique.
John Lennon was the Walrus, but only Mark, Jerry, and the Bobs are Devo.
……. the corner stone to the age of internet piracy … ever the prescient group, that Devo … brilliant, those Spud Boys, just brilliant ~ (•8-o
Is this an ad for the NSA?
Good one!
The 80s, when vector graphic effects were cutting edge!!!
I suggest you watch the Letterman performance if you want to see them performing with keytars...it's only one of the most watched on here.
We used to like to watch the video but it creeped us out when we was kids!!!
scary 80's
Ha-ha-ha-hah! Now I got Nana being spanked by a monkey burned on my brain.
When you think about it, this video is kind of similar to "Time Out For Fun."
Who played the evil clown? Toni Basil's onetime beau Spazz Attack?
F'n Sick. I was about 14 then, and this is even more the shit now.....HA HA HA HA, HA HA HA HA
I was a young adult and I still can't figure out what this song is about...still a fun Devo toon.
COOL FRENCH DUDE
Steinberger headless bass. Very new wave and tech progressive, or something.
This song has been out for awhile and yes

que recuerdos
" ha ha ha ha!"
Next on USA's Night Flight....
Jerry said in an interview that the entire band has always hated clowns.
@KyoTheFoxDemon
It would be some weird synth voice program I'm guessing lol.
@lithead that is hilarious. HA HA HA HA.......peek-a--boo!
@1devo6587 Check the onstage performance of "That's Good" on Letterman. I think they have them there.
I wonder how many months of computer time it took to render those backgrounds.
I still wonder why the pirate kicked almost all of them to the ground?😂
Please also here in Ecuador the video we whip it thanks
Devo's awesome. period. Their new work is also truth, but not as fun, to me.
lovely memries!! my de evolution generation
Can anyone confirm if the punk clown is 'Spaz Attack' in this video? Thanks in advance...
It is Spaz Attack. There are pictures of him getting ready for the video posted a few places.
Thanks so much for the confirmation! Any idea what he's up to these days? I am just really curious...
creatornat
The information I've seen on him is years out of date, but apparently he's been a clothing designer with a shop...
Thanks mate!
I can see you and i know what you do.
Odd thing is..the clown never firghtened me..it was always those silly devil faces.
"Who writes that stuff?"A reference from the Monkees.
Jerry Casale...RIP
Sungodv I think it's about the government watching or something.
That laugh reminds me of televangelist Kenneth Copeland.
These guys....and Kraftwerk:-)
@1devo6587 they did it again in 'Fresh'!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Where did Devo find that picture of the devils?
@1devo6587 Really should anyone be playing a keytar onstage?
This reminds me of The Wiggles
More like if The Wiggles guest starred on Pee-Wee's Playhouse :p
@tjcoffey now you get it!
This is not as good as their other stuff, it's more just HOLY SHIT? WHAT?! material.
Vintage computer graphics... clowns... I can see you... and I know what you do.
Holy shit, this is completely disturbing. Still a better love story than Twilight, tho.
