For the 250 hours I've played this game I actually really enjoyed my time. Lots of ridiculous problems at times, but there aren't many games that have ever given me the feeling New World did on release. I absolutely loved it.
honestly if the devs started listening to people it wouldn't have a short coming, but yeah if they continue the trend you are right. need more of a end game loop with pvp and pve
I skipped T&L global release for this. There is such a charm in New World that I couldn't get rid off, but I stopped playing before The Angry Earth DLC due to my change of schedules at work. I've been trying to find a reason to hop back on not just to admire the scenery, but to actually have a purpose. I'm excited for it.
I'd recommend just enjoying the slow ride and not rushing to max level. A lot of people get burned out quickly because they rush to end game and miss out on a lot of the fun stuff this game has to offer at earlier levels.

One small correction. They changed the musket awhile back. It's no longer hitscan. It's a projectile like the bow but it's smaller and moves quicker. Gotta lead your shots no more hitscan cheese lol
A big thing for me in MMO's is the sound effects. I think NW nails is. From combat to harvesting, the sounds are stunning and satisfying. Im looking forward to the release
After being a guild leader on ESO in the past, I took a long break from MMO’s but came back on TL as a casual. And what I’ve found is that MMO players are just never happy. Millions are playing numerous MMO’s on the daily, but yet everywhere you look there’s complaining. Even under this video with the console version not even out yet. Both TL and NW are beautiful games that ppl can enjoy for a long time. Cave dwellers just need to get out more imo, it’s ridiculous.
I bought this and Throne and Liberty. One mmorpg is probably more than enough for me so I'm having a hard time choosing which one to play on my steam deck and PC.
Do you like changing classes freely or stick to a single character until it bores you? The former, go for Aeternum. The latter, TL then. Not to mention controller handling is trash in TL (for now, not sure if any fix coming).
This video does make me want to play again, even though I know it's sponsored fluff. Just going over all the weapons brings to mind the fun I had with knocking down enemies with the hammer and getting headshots with the bow. The only problem being, you know, once the honeymoon period was over and the endgame grind began it was kind of a mess. But the journey there really was something else.
I recently came back to new world and with the angry earth dlc alone you get so much content. Can’t wait for this update. There’s already so much to do compared to when it was released. Can’t wait for the PvP island and new raid. Plus replayable soul trials.
I was not going to get this game. But after hearing what you said about controller feel i change my mind. I seen gameplay about this game before was never interested. But it seems like the game had a lot of updates looks good. Your easy to follow explanation really hit home. Been a fan for years. Im getting this game on xbox. My combo based on my playstyle is Greatsword either with void gauntlet or frost.

Isn't this dev also making a lord of the rings game? Feels like this could be an amazing foundation for a lotr mmo. As great as lotro is, it feels ancient at this point and hasn't had many modern UX updates.
Latency will be fixed this update. Beta testers reported significant performance increases. Dupes were fixed years ago and are. A non-issue. There’s glitches here and there like in all games, but nothing game breaking.
It sucks this game was such a failure. And they're too hard headed to realize it's because they gimped it from being a pure PVP game at the end of the alpha. This game with a Planetside 2 style system of 3 factions fighting for sections of the map in a 24/7 war would have been amazing. I'm sure re-releasing the same game for console plebs is going to bring it back. 🤣
I keep waiting for this game to have fluid proper 2024 combat animations , so far it looks like most of these character have a broom up their booy , stiff and lacking impact

Hey guys. If you turn off the Steam controller support you will find that on PC, New World has native controller support. I have a PC and it plays just the same as if I was playing on my PS5 when the beta was out. Check it out because everyone in the comments above seems to be misinformed.

Yeah ignore the meta it's really just for the "Perfect" Gameplay or dungeon runs in the game I usually go SnS/Warhammer for tanking and for dps Musket/Rapier or Blunderbuss/VG, some people just don't like some weapons especially ranged because there are better for dpsing in dungeons consistently , I get it but kinda takes the fun away if they're too serious about the game treating it like work. There are some people who don't care about these but when it happens "range" players miss or die easy so I guess there are also skill issue. My advice is find a grp or inv some friends to play with you for some dungeons it's an MMO so experience wise it's better to play it with friends, have some patience if you meet ppl who doesn't suit your taste, just relax and enjoy the game. FYI the game is pretty addictive so prepare to lose some family bonding time
My tip is to turn on Open PvP whenever it's available. Low lvl pvp where there's no min maxing gears yet is one of the most fun experience you'll have in this game.

I would play New World if they let your weapon buffs persist after weapon swapping. I HATED playing and feeling like swapping weapons mid combat sabotaged my setup for big d*ck damage.
Why do people keep saying aiming is hard on a controller? Just say you, as an individual, are bad at using a controller. sorry for the slightly negative comment. Just tired of hearing it and that thought process is why so many PC games don't launch with controller support. FFXiv has the best controller layout and PC games really need to copy it.
funny how in order to even ride a mount u need expansion xd how about new OPR map in the rotation. and better pvp balance? staggers/slows on every melee hit isn't a goog game design usually. and all this bonus elemental dmg. and can't combine most weapons really efficiently. need expansion for most good new weapons and even riding :O
The open beta on PS5 was a disgrace. On so called '4K' mode the resolution looks 720p, it's so blurry. The environment assets are also at ultra low. My i5 and 3060 ran this a hundred times better. Absolutely pathetic devs on console.
Naw hard pass for me. One of the worst tone deaf devs I ever encountered in mmo.every update broke something and this game did nothing for botting and duping issues.at one point they disabled trading and market place for 3 weeks but they patched a bug where we got bonus mats over night. Also their engine is horrible
someone still living in the past. It's like saying WoW is shit because back in the day windfury has endless potential to proc off the 2 additionals hits leading to a flurry of hits which had the potential to proc endlessly. It was in the game for quite awhile too.
As someone that has played since release. It's the same shit with a different questing camera. That's it. Don't forget, it still charges you 30 extra euros for mounts.
Good review, but I think the bigger early game impact from the archetypes is the trade skill bonuses. As with the weapons you can raise them all and getting to the bonus level of 50 is pretty easy, but they do give you a head start.

They've had 1 OPR (PVP) map since the game came out, how is that actually possible? Negativity will not get you far in life. I played this game every winter since launch. It has improved massively & was not bad when it came out, just had seriously bad mistakes with economy and such. Played the beta, it is like a whole new game. I agree some of the things you said, but it is still the best MMO in a decade & nothing else is worth playing in the genre unless you are already heavily invested in something older.

Are you new on PC? then you just need to buy the whole game (Now called New World Aeternum) at 60$ and you get everything. dont fall for it...game has nothing to offer, the new raid and pvp zone will hold up for 2-3weeks and then AGS will do what they do best (since 3years): dont update it in any way, let it rot like the rest of the content... expeditions (dungeons) are worthless open pvp (influence race) had 0 updates, outpost rush (20vs20) has 1 map and 0 serious updates since 3 years,... the list goes on and on

I own the game on PC. Got it about a two weeks after it released on pc, and played for about six months. Hearing you say it plays like a souls game makes me not want to go back to it. Not everyone likes that genre. Some of us hate it with a passion.

It looks like dual pistols will be the next weapon. It was leaked in the trailer. Daggers would be pretty nice too but that will be some time.

I put 200+ into it on pc. Played ps5 beta and decided I’m starting over. Ps5 felt amazing.

dont fall for it...game has nothing to offer, the new raid and pvp zone will hold up for 2-3weeks and then AGS will do what they do best (since 3years): dont update it in any way, let it rot like the rest of the content...
expeditions (dungeons) are worthless
open pvp (influence race) had 0 updates, outpost rush (20vs20) has 1 map and 0 serious updates since 3 years,... the list goes on and on
Not sure I'd classify this as souls-like combat. The combat is nowhere near as intricate as souls games, and is much more spammy
All you can do is literally heavy and light attacks, what do you mean it's not as "intricate" when souls games have one of the most outdated combat systems.

I own the game on PC. Got it about a two weeks after it released on pc, and played for about six months. Hearing you say it plays like a souls game makes me not want to go back to it. Not everyone likes that genre. Some of us hate it with a passion.
He was saying it was always souls-like, not specifically after this release. If you were fine with the combat previously, you'll be fine with it now, they've only made it more fluid.
@@DanWalshTV It was not souls like at all, there isn't even a lock on. Souls combat feels, imo, clunky and slow. This game feels more like an action game that a souls-like. Well, maybe it does when you use the big weapons, but I stopped playing before the greatsword released, so I don't know.

T&L is just so much better.
I couldn't stand more than 2 hours in T&L, because it was just poorly made. New world isn't really for me but at least it drew me in for 100 hours
