I'm going to be 110% real with you guys: Please dont play Stalcraft. The biggest problem is the non-con PvP, where all the high level trolls just spawncamp farm new players, resulting in a horrifically bad new user experience. If you want STALKER, just play Anomaly.
Hi mate, I played this game about 6 months after is came out and I had a ball with it, im a big fromsoftware fan so when I saw this game I had to give it a go and im glad I did.
Comedy games that try to actually be funny whilst also attempting to be fun to play are definitely the best. Good parodies can be born from hate, but the best ones are made with love. Ive seen so many games try to parody other genres and they all the same “lets reference this thing but not actually try anything different or do anything interesting with it” mindset. Nostalgaia pokes fun at the soulsborne way while also embracing its roots. Brilliant stuff as always mitch 💙
There's a PS2 RPG The Bards Tale that has the same sort of style: snarky narrators taking the mickey - there's a scene where the main character kills a couple of wolves and loots their bodies to find a large quantity of gold weapons and armour, the narrator asks why do the wolves have this
You should give it a try. They've spruced up some shadowing and graphical issues, and even added fast travel! (After I had to do it the old way before the update lol)
I love Pine's videos but I feel like he's becoming more critical the more soulslikes he plays. He often says the combat feels clunky where I feel like Elden Ring's combat feels clunky. Everything is subjective.
I just wanted to say that UA-cam recommended your channel to me not too long ago, and I'm really glad it did. These videos have a comforting old youtube feel to them that I really missed, and its clear you are just enjoying the experience of making and sharing. It's infectious; never let that go!
@MitchManix Weird, because on mine Fast Travel takes you to ANY beacon. Not just the checkpoint beacons like originally. It was the update that added new game+
Thank you for limiting the story and content spoilers in this - it was the perfect amount shown to really make me want to play the game without ruining the fun of exploring myself. Time to give this a go! Also I did not expect you to be quite such a gorgeous person in the "I need to talk to your manager" bit
When you accidentally sold your precious items only to be unable to purchase them back. As a long time gamer. I felt your pain my friend. We have all experienced it at least once... it never gets easier.
I just came here from Iron Pineapple's series about "X more souls-likes" where he played a bowling game I'm ready I think he played this one some while ago as well What a wild gem
18:16 Another Legend of Zelda reference, I suppose. Didn't expect that, but it makes sense considering the context of the game and how often it references Nintendo properties.
Below the first beacon you find the old man at, there's the heart room where you can remember the shield the Spirit of Heroism gives you AND the message box that allows you to write messages, so yeah those are players.
Would’ve honestly been even funnier if there’s actually a weapon called finger and to unpixalate it you have to literally try to use it on certain things near the signs on the ground that say “try finger but hole”.
I think you should try playing Her Majesty's Spiffing, a funny point and click adventure about British astronauts. Should be a perfect fit for your channel
That was a fun and enjoyable video, I wouldn't have minded some story spoilers, I'm probably not going to play it either way i understand the decision, it's still enjoyable. Good work thank you.
As someone who started as a caster in Nostalgaia from the word "Go", the homing pixel is the strongest spell you can find in the game. And you can either purchase it from the vendor or start with it, if you start as a sourcemancer. And, to be frank, the poison knife and homing pixels are the only spells I found useful for the entire game. Sadly, I saw you did not buy it whenever you had the shop keepers inventory screen open. I did try some other spells but they were too weak for the damage they could inflict for for what they offered or just too expensive. The Homing Pixels could deal a lot of damage at the cost of one source. One or two shotting enemies never felt better. As for magic damage with weapons, I found the Sword of service infused with soiurce material makes up for the strongest magic scaling weapon in the base game. Before that, the Royal Epeen was a distant second but good enough until you hit Warlock's Wild. Personally, I enjoyed Nostalgaia a lot. But the hit boxes were literally hit or miss. Especially if the terrain was slightly elevated, you had a really bad time hitting a barn door. There is somethign wrong with the hit boxes that was never fixed. But not bad enough. You just learn to play around that problem at some point and move on.
Such a great game. And old school Dark Souls difficult. I grabbed this during my "buy all the FromSoft" games phase. I did not expect the game to be even remotely as good as it is.
Side note the caster build is best done from the start since it will give you the base homing pixel bullet damage spell, and which only costs 1 ammo, since most other damaging spells are too costly for what they do.
Holy shit this game, i found about it through the trailers and found it hilarious but forgot about it eventually since there was nothing after the trailers, great to know it is still a thing
Yes actually, that's Blade the Bold, he's actually really well written within the themes of the game and specifically of Vengeance's plotline, the swordwoman he messed the quest of.
People keep saying you only have one fast travel point but when I played the game I somehow unlocked free fast travel (maybe by remembering? items I did a lot of rembering early game before commiting to a luck/strength build, and randomly noticed it)
The beacons upgrading the graphics remind me nicely of Evoland... an RPG where your game gets more graphically and gameplay-y impressive the further you get into the game.
This was a very fun game, specially with the dlc. But like you mentioned the inability to teleport around and a very confusing map made the game a "finish and forget" kind of game and no desire to replay it. Which is unfortunate because I missed many bosses due to the cryptic npc questlines
if i played this game, this is the equipment i'd use (bear in mind, there's no site that lists ALL weapons): Haunted Knight set, Unburdened Sword, Shield of Inspiration. i want to play this game, i really want to... but there's a lack of dragon bosses. besides, in the 5:44 timestamp, that red curved sword, the Drake Sabre, is made of a dragon's wing. this means dragons exist in Nostalgaia, but... where are the dragons? this is my idea of introducing dragons into Nostalgaia: - the dragon enemy would be simply called the "Blue Dragon". it's effectively the blue dragon from Demon's Souls (original), but it's the size of the Drake from the Valley of Drakes from Dark Souls. it'd behave like the latter, but would breathe fire like the former. it'd reside in the castle level, as well as the treasure room (don't know the actual names). - the dragon boss would simply be called the "Red Dragon". it's meant to reference Grigori, from Dragon's Dogma. he'd be the final boss of a DLC which, for a lack of a better name, i have decided to call "the Dragon's Keep". the Dragon's Keep would be a large stone fortress on a forested mountain, filled with traps and enemies - including Blue Dragons, given the fortress' name. getting back to the Red Dragon, he'd be the most powerful dragon in Nostalgaia... who just wants to live in peace (delivered in a humouristic way): he'd have a wife and son; a black dragon and a purple dragon, respectively (since the topic of the DLC would be dragons, why not reference Minecraft again, and Spyro?). but the Red Dragon also longs for a good battle with a worthy opponent. his attacks would be powerful fire breath, teeth, claws, tail, and a few magic spells. once he is defeated (not killed), you'll earn new gear: the "Dragon Sword", the "Dragon Shield", and the "Dragon Scale" set, which would resemble Rathalos' SnS (Sword & Shield) and armour, as a reference to Monster Hunter. and the Red Dragon will congratulate you, and would add that he'll await you in New Game+. look, i just want an excuse to get me to play this game.
I thought the initial voice was part of the games va and not the actual channel commentary. Was confused that it kept going in the next part of the video lol

wqnted to say that the bard's tale is the best funny-but-fun-to-play games , but i found tbat 2 others beat me to it

Hot dang I love God Hand!
This looks alot better than when Iron Pineapple tried it. Looks like the devs have been working hard.
You should give it a try. They've spruced up some shadowing and graphical issues, and even added fast travel! (After I had to do it the old way before the update lol)

Thanks for making my day with this comment. Really appreciate it.
As an avid Souls-like enjoyer, I loved this game. The sheer number of easter eggs and references to other video games is astounding.
I wish nostalgia got more recognition. It’s genuinely a good soulslike.
@mobilemetal4554 It seems like something Captain Eggcellent would have a field day with, at the least.
well sure buddy, you're not the only souls like enjoyer, game is good.
The important question. Moonlight Great Sword?
Maybe a Moonlight Okay Sword.
It has the Transistor.
Sunlight tinyhammer

This is the best jab at the pixel rendered games I’ve ever seen, by far.
It warms my heart to see how this chanel has grown ❤
I'm not sure when this was recorded. But Fast Travel IS in fact in the game.
It was in an update some time back..
It is yeah but as I said in the vid you can only go from one chosen beacon at a time instead of being able to go to any of them.
@MitchManix Weird, because on mine Fast Travel takes you to ANY beacon. Not just the checkpoint beacons like originally.

@@SubjectSigma0 Yeah is weird. Didnt have the option. I blame the pink naked bloke.

This really is a great little game. The easter eggs and satire alone are worth it.
I love your videos because of your style of narration.
Nice video, the game looks creative and has some unique style / elements. Cheers from Germany
Keep meaning to pick this one up. I played the demo on steam years back and i really liked it. Always happy to see you upload.

there was a TLoZOoT signpost with Hylian writing on it somewhere in the video too

18:15 - OK, that Banksyfication skill is pretty baller.
😂😂😂😂 amazing video! Can't wait for the next one, as always. Well done! 🎉
"the last hero of nust-al-gaia" is a phrase that exists.
I totally thought it was nostalgia as well, but the title is actually spelled differently and the narrator pronounces it pretty closely to that too.
3:45 - 3:51 these 6 seconds alone made me subscribe
I hate that I had a proper laughing fit on the "try finger but hole" part

The Resevoir of Pain strikes me as a nod to the mascot from the Loki tv series
God damn you're funny. Not too extra or anything, just plain funny, take my sub.
