What is your favourite car 🚗 or motorbike 🏍 build u have done so far

OMG that white sporty Merc in the bkgrd😍
Guys , As you know not a fan of
Diesel , learned the hard way in
the 80's ford a series light truck
engine lasts about 60,000 , the
D series. had a wheel bearing
Nearside catch fire , another
time rear diff lock up on me
as l was coming in to yard.
Then 0908 ford cargo was the
best l had driven for 3 months
B4 leaving Luton & fly out to
Australia ,so yeah not a fan
of Diesel , how much will it
Cost to convert to petrol ??
And is it worth it?😁😁
Hi Rob and Chris, 100% repair this one please guy’s, great content and would be a great start to finish series of video content. Cheers, Alex.
I fully agree with you there Alex love all the content
Totally agree!
Rob....."the engine wants replacing"
Chris "hold my vanilla latte"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

😆😆😆😆
Typical new garages, they aren't mechanics, they are parts fitters, hear the engine rattling and without any diagnose: oh need new engine.. those engines have timing chains issues, they snap, they start rattling specially if parked for some time and they they snap. Normally on if the engine runs is to change the timing kit and done. Hope all goes for the better. Thats the same engine in the Jaguar XE
I used to work for a company that rebuilt Ingenium engines. They are really quite fragile. They have a very common issue with the counter rotating balancer shaft bearings going and to and to replace them t's an engine out job. A rep ( who shall remain nameless) came from JLR with a few of them and their full time job was Ingenium reliability issues. They didnt have a good word to say about them. They are indeed fractured rods and because JLR are no good at designing engines they don't even have tabbed mains or big end bearings so they spin up very easily. Timing chain is in the wrong place too and also fragile. LS swap it.
Yep, I have so many friends in the UK that went out in 15-16 and bought these and have had nothing but engine issues
At the risk of sounding old fashioned, it still makes me wince a little bit that you can buy a 2 tonne SUV with a 2 litre four cylinder engine in it. That's certainly going to highlight any weaknesses in the design once you put a few miles into the mix, and perhaps the odd skipped or late oil change.
WHY HAS LAND ROVER DEVELOPED INGENIUM?
Since the first Land Rovers rolled off the production line in 1948, a commitment to cutting-edge technology has been a key feature of the brand. The Ingenium engine is the latest innovative step forward in improving our vehicles, and will meet new EU6b emissions regulations which come into force from 1st September 2015.
But that’s not all: the Ingenium is ‘future-proofed’. Some of the world’s finest automotive engineers have worked to develop the engine from a blank page. This has meant no engineering compromises, and an engine designed with one eye on tomorrow. So not only is the engine state-of-the-art and EU-compliant in 2015, but it can be adapted to integrate future technology enhancements and respond to regulation changes.
Ingenium also shows Land Rover’s commitment to British manufacturing. By bringing engine production in-house, we’ve been able to create 6,900 jobs in the UK at the Jaguar Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Centre and in the supply chain.
@@petesmitt hahahahahahah. Corporate propaganda.
@@ianc7866 yep.. they're so proud of their finest British engineering.. no compromises.
Note for Chris -
Great to see you interacting on camera.
Don't be shy - your subscribers love to see and hear from you mate.
You're both doing a great job.
Keep up the awesome content.
Chris wants it,you can see it when you went into him,he was stalling. He wants to fix it right and keep it.He knows it will be a cheap car for what it is when all fixed.Rob put the man out of his misery haha.
Always listen to Chris. He’s not failed us yet with his decisions. Maybe he’s eyeing it up for his missus 👀. Nothing Chris can’t do. Let’s have a good crack at it
Great video Rob, lovely to see Chris, the guy is a genius , nice to see him more involved on screen, superb car if you do the work
Rob will turn up tomorrow in the morning Chris will have the full engine out stripped know the fault and ready to put it back together with the parts.
I had a similar experience when the MOT guy accidentally entered 36000 instead of 26.
I didn't notice it until it was time to sell the car. Every potential buyer kept accusing me of clocking the mileage
after doing HPI check. It was a bloody nightmare!
It's good to see Chris on the channel talking such a knowledgeable bloke
Rob, whenever a turbo goes out it's usually oil starvation and the furthest component goes out first. Next is the timing chain slacking and finally the bottom end. Check for poor maintenance and sludge or clog on the pickup screen in the oil pan before you sink mony in it. Great video and I hope it's easily fixable
@Al You sir are a good lad, thanks for the knowledge, you are a blessing disguised as a comment.
It says it all about Land Rover these days when after 6 years you can't get a trade deal! I have always liked their looks but have given them a wide berth due to reliability.
Definitely be great to see Chris rebuild the engine on this, a good polish and wheel refurb should see you in the money.
Rob, you've definitely made the right call to try and repair that car. The best bit is that we'll see the process of another repair during subsequent videos. Well done for thinking of us out here in UA-cam land.
This will make a great series! Always enjoy seeing you guys get stuck in to a proper technical job 👍
Fix it and let Chris and his Mrs have first dips in it! Chris deserves a nice comfy ride like that after all the graft he puts in.
I agree Jaker !👍👍👍
I think Chris want's to swap it for his quad bike Rob.
It's so good to see two bloke's who have got so much respect for each other.
Good luck with the hunt for the engine! 🙂👍
Absolutely keep hold of it and fix it Rob , an engine strip and rebuild will make amazing content , the blue range rover sport was what brought me to your Chanel as I love the engineering content.
I'm glad you have decided to keep it, I love the engine diagnostics and the rebuild after, keep up the good work lads! 😁
Don't know why but I really miss Rob's car wash assistant. She did a good job with the VW. Wish she would've been there to clean up this Range Rover 😁
Cant wait for this build guys. I would say it sounds like big end bearings. Easy to change without removing the engine and I would even consider a new oil pump while you're at it. Good luck , can't wait for the next one. 😎👍
First thing I thought when you said "quick flip" was "no, we're gonna miss out of so much great content". Chris is right on this one mate ;-)
Those Luxury Discoveries are quite rare Rob, They are the ones that come with the the extra loose bits in the engine. Most of them don't have that.
I bet Chris wants it , it’s just his type of vehicle .
These ingeniums are notorious for oil dilution and cylinder wash etc. Used to change the oil and filter on mine with a sealey pump every 4mths. I’ve still got a few service kits in my shed if you want them (genuine oil and filters)
Im so glad I've got the old freelander engine in mine. They changed to the ingenious engine 2016 and the problems I've heard regarding those engines.
A friend of mine told me about a mate of his who had the turbo replaced and 6mths later his engine blew. Luckily Landrover warranty replaced his whole engine.
Still I'm sure with Chris and his knowledge of engines he will sort this engine out!!!
Hope you do rebuild/replace engine as it will be a good one to watch.
Love the content keep uploading these brilliant videos
I think thats the most Chris has ever said on camera, I know he isn't a great talker & does his talking with his skills but it was still nice to hear his thoughts on the car & I reckon he is right to be fair, looking forward to seeing this play out
Had visions of being disappointed with a quick flip. Hopefully the bits needed are cheap enough that you can put the work in and get a few more quid at the end of a nice series of videos 👍
Would be great to see exactly what the faults are and a rebuild
Give Chris firsts dabs on it he truly is a great technician
was thinking the same thing
Glad to hear your going to repair this motor. The Ingenium engine seems to have a lot of problems, oil dilution, DPF issues to name a few. I’m on my 3rd JLR vehicle in 6 years, all 2 litre diesel Ingenium engines, all needed a service at 10k intervals under warranty! Really looking forward to seeing what is wrong with this motor 👍😎
Great video, very informative and entertaining. Thank you guys for the effort you put in to bring us our video fix from Salvage Rebuilds . Till the next one take care 👍🇬🇧
it was nice to hear from Chris, he is getting better with the camera work and you've made him into a film star Rob!
Right colour combo, right spec. Not a write off either so as a desireable sought after car its worth fixing if its at all possible. What a find!
Looking forward to you opening it up and seeing what's wrong with it! You and Chris make a fantastic team, so knowledgeable and nothing overwhelms you, I wish I had your knowledge as I'd love to be able to do it! Good luck with it 👍
I've just started watching this channel. Excellent work guys. Its really well done to a great standard. Transparency is top draw, so makes a great way to sell stuff. Your vids provide great education value too. Looking forward to more interesting projects and seeing more hard graft. Keep up the great work and Rob, please, more waffles!
This was an emotional video. First you said your flipping it, gutted as it would make great content, then you’re looking at doing it, very happy, and then the revelation to end all revelations, there’s a Mrs Chris!?
Does she know what he looks like? He’s always blo£dy working! Really looking forward to this series 😊
I had bulldozer that got an awful knock sounded like a big end or crank problem, turned out to be an injector.
I hope you repair it, I really enjoy those video's the most !
As soon as that motor started I was thinking "It's dropped a valve". I hope its not too expensive to fix. Thanks for another great video. Good luck and I hope you get a nice big return on it.
You should defiantly repair this Rob its nice to see you and Chris get to the bottom of an engine fault for a change rather than the bodywork stuff.
This is going to be a great series, can’t wait.
Well done Chris. Like to see the engine repaired. Great content Rob.
Nice car guys, thanks Rob and Chris, really glad you decided to do some more work on it and not just flip it.
That is Rod Knock. We have a 2018 discovery which has had 2 turbo replacements within 10 days, cars had 6 turbos on it now, we picked the car up and drove back 75 miles and the engine had seized. Land Rover are now changing the engine but that was the exact noise, lasted only about 20 seconds while on the phone to Land Rover.
Probs naff service history, notorious to then get clogged like you wouldn't believe. 'Needs a new engine' is code for 'cant be arsed to root around diagnosing it' - hope it is a simple fix for you guys, would be a lovely profit!
Good to see Chris talking to the camera :)
Delighted that you are fixing this one, looking forward to next video.Might be a keeper for Chris 😊
I had the same car..same year, spec etc..great looking car...gave me nothing but trouble (mechanical and electrical) so I eventually got it fixed and got rid of it after only a year...looking forward to seeing how you get on with this one guys👍🇬🇧
Great stuff. Was disappointed initially that you were going to flip it, but now looking forward hopefully to an Ingenium strip and/or removal 👍
It's 2021 - Failures that Landrovers suffer from now are far from 'accidental' or a learnng curve. It's either extremely poor engineering, the parts are designed to fail or there are dodgy batches being manufactured.
JLR have no excuse for the crap they are producing.
Rob and Chris. Very sensible. Enjoyable content to come. Looking forward to the future videos on this car.
Really looking forward to see if you diagnose and repair this one, great content as always guys.
What a lovely car I would be mortified If my 15 plate discovery looked like that inside. I have an old 08 mondeo and wouldn't let it get in a state like that. Great video as usual look forward to the next
It’s been used 🤷♂️
I agree with Chris on this one Rob 👍 get prices and if the numbers work it would make a fantastic series of videos that I definitely will not miss. Tom
Glad to hear you're fixing this as they are the best videos.
nice one chris this is what we like to see you repairing cars not hoovering and selling on keep up the good work love whatching your vids
Hope this also inspires another video on the LSE, would be great to see the next instalment of that series
"Just a bit o' Bush Rash"
T shirts please 🤣🤣🤣
😂
The lads profits would go through the roof! 😂😂😂
Love it...actually thinking of getting one next year. Would love to see the work on this if you do, and hopefully diagnosing what caused the problem
Absolutely love watching your videos the two of you have a great working friendship and definitely can’t wait till the next video cheers
Just teasing us now lads with 'will they won't they' 😂😂😂 Looking forward to seeing this done and priced up whichever way you go with it. Definately enjoying the variety of how you're sourcingbthese latest projects Rob.👍
It makes sense to repair the engine as the Disco will not be a " category car" its a rare model series and the way prices have gone for decent top quality motors its going to be worth strong money.
Great video Rob & Chris. I hope you do repair this one. My wife has the same model on an 17 plate. Lovely car!
Good job that rabbit hole wasn’t too deep. Chris would have to call the fire brigade to rescue you 😂 Would be great content to see the diagnosis and repair of the engine 👍👍 Keep up the good work guys 🙏🙏
Take a oil sample to see if its gone to far to repair before replacing. Bottom end will show as high lead, tin, iron and PQI readings.
Nice to see a bit more of Chris. Would make some awesome content doing a rebuild if you can, and saves changing numbers on the V5.
I am so glad you haven’t sold the car. As soon as I saw it I thought wow that’s gonna make some good viewing. They when you said a quick turn around I was noooooooooo!! Chris is absolutely right. The videos of the engine rebuild will make absolutely amazing content.
This is the channel that just keeps giving. Another great video. Looking forward to the next one
Spoiler ALERT!
Rob gets back on Monday and Chris is out off-roading in it, Chris worked Saturday morning.
Such a nice Discovery. Looks like you cleaned it for the first time in its life. A little heat gun action may fix the back of the passenger seat.
Glad you decided to take it on. Im excited to see how it goes!
Great video as usual guys!
Would love to see this one with the engine fix as love that type of content. Call is obviously yours as its your money and time etc. Thanks for some great vids.
I reckon someone’s tried driving it in deep water, water’s got into the engine and bent one of the con-rods. However there doesn’t seem to be any other signs of water damage like water ingress into the cabin etc.
For me I’d want to know why the turbo failed in the first place? I know some LR’s can be flaky but only 6 yrs on a diesel on not that high a mileage makes me wonder. Was it just bad maintenance ie. no oil changes or was there something else at fault. Can u plug it into a diagnostics machine and get any info from there?
Regardless, glad to see Chris back and looking well after his illness. It’s gonna take a lot more than a global pandemic to stop that fella. Rob, you’re looking sharp as always. Thanks for another great vid. Can’t wait to see the next one where this car does it’s “dance of the seven veils” where it slowly reveals itself to you. 😃
Lovely motor! I want to see this one "stay in the family". Chris definitely got his eye on it. Fix it up 👍
it's nice to see a couple of guys doing the jobs properly & professionally and not letting a vehicle go until it's 100 %
Love to see you guys do this one. Love the engine content on so many of your videos, like the white transit, it teaches us all so much. Let Chris get knee deep in it👍👍👍
This will be going to Chris. I’ve never seen him that keen on a vehicle. I love the idea of repairing that motor - that’ll be outstanding content.
I’d go with clogged oil pickup in the sump, probably killed the old turbo and the new one.
That Topdon scanner you have will also be able to verify the miles on the car. The actual mileage will be stored in some of the modules, like the ABS module for instance.
Mileage is bang on and I had the discrepancy removed 👍
@@sruk that's good news
Can't wait to see what you decide to do, I am sure you will see if it's an economic repair as it will be a lovely car.
Chris is quite taken with it, would make great content as Chris has said.
Great to see all the feedback on that engine.
One of the best cars you have bought Rob. A beauty.
So interesting to hear you doing through the thoughthan process of what to do with it.
🤞 you keep it and we see more of it 😊
Great content to see you working on a top end car like this.
Another quite different video which is great. As others have said there do seem to have been some problems with the JLR Ingenium engine, particularly diesels. I'm a member of a Jaguar forum and have read several threads about ingenium engine failure caused by stretched timing chains - the chain jumps a cog or two! apparently JLR did a modification to the chain in 2019. The reports also say that parts are not available and a replacement engine is required. Hope you do repair this one will make for some great videos and a lovely car when its done.
I have a love/hate relationship with LR…. Love that they are beautiful cars but hate they can make an engine which is so bad it only lasts 80k before it goes boom
I really really really hope you guys do an engine rebuild on this one
Great video rob and Chris that’s a lovely motor and I for one hope you both decide to do the work on it , it will definitely make for good viewing and as you guys normally do finish up with a fantastic vehicle for sale and of course crunching the numbers, look forward to seeing what you decide to do take care
Great video and looking forward to see what is next on the project
I'm going to hold back on my bush rash joke 😂
😁
Exciting bit of content. Looking forward to the diagnosis… could be so many things 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks Rob and Chris for thinking this through, and I agree that this car can yield great video(s) and a higher return, as well as an excellent buy for the eventual purchaser. I love it!
Great vid fellas. Rob love the way you are always so polite to Chris. Proper gent ☺
Be great to see this coming apart and the cause of the engine failure. It’s a straight motor and looks really clean. A very desirable model to so well worth doing lads.
Disco's and Range Rovers are'nt bottom of reliability tables for nothing.
Chris is sweet on that car,he’s got his eyes 👀 on it
Nice to se a new vid I've just been signed of work for 3 months and after that mabey even longer with some serious health issues so watching your Vids will actually take my mind of it always enjoyed your content lads gonna be catching up on some of your stuff I've missed
Hope you get better soon bud 👍
@@sruk thanks :) I hope so to I'm gonna use my time of to get my health under better control get a few little jobs done on my moters and if covid allows then go visit some family in county cork
I havent watched a video in a long time but its amazing to see how much you have grown! Crazy numbers, hope you reach that 1M subscriber level:)
"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
Uncle Rod!
Lol 😂
Nice one !!😂😂😂😂😂
Hope Chris can rebuild the engine then let him have it as a early Xmas present because I truly believe he deserves it, great video
I agree Chris Bloody Hard Worker ,and Top Bloke !!👍👍
As always Quality video with intriguing questions as to which way to jump ! Really looking forward to the outcome Good luck - a cool project !!👍
again quality car and video, very informative too. I love these cars but not practicle for me as i dont do the miles they are built for. Can't wait for the update video on this. Good luck guys :)
BEAUTIFULL CAR
what a good buy guys.
My guess is Chris will buy it, he so loves it.
My mate runs a recovery break down business he loves Range Rover and Land Rover he makes lots of money from break downs long may it continue.
Love to see the rebuild cheers Rob/Chris for the video
