The demographic of Babymetal fans is so diverse it's wild. I'm a middle aged old headbanger who grew up on Maiden and Metallica and I love them. I was surprised to learn that I certainly wasn't alone and they have many fans over 40. I also know plenty of people who don't even really like heavy music, but they make an exception for Babymetal. Their music just brings joy and a great vibe to so many different types of people.
If you want to hear Sumetal's voice really shine, listen to Monochrome - The First Take, Piano ver. It's just Su, a piano, and backup vocals, mostly from Moa. It really shows how amazing her voice is. Monochrome - Piano ver./THE FIRST TAKE - ua-cam.com/video/h-hPGRSjgms/v-deo.htmlsi=HcbXdwxAMIwDRAMv
I'm a devout fan at age 73, have tickets to see them live in Bethlehem, Pa in November. When this was recorded Sue was 17 with phenominal crowd control
I am 47 soon. Don't remember a band like this.. haven't had the chance to see them live YET.. but damn.. Presence, Musicianship, Amazing band, quality singing and dancing.. Me and my kids listen to them daily!
Great version of Road of Resistance. Did you notice the mosh pits stopped to sing along, and Su did not say anything to get a wall of death . she just gestured what she wanted . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
This was the encore for this concert. If it sounded like it had some influence by Dragonforce, it did. There were half a dozen people involved in writing the song. Herman Li and Sam Totman from Dragonforce helped with some of the guitar riffs, and played on the album recording of the song. That same year (2015) at the Download Festival, Dragonforce invited Babymetal to join them on stage to perform a song together.
I think it's a great observation that you can be captivated by music in a different language. When you look up the lyrics later, it's even better bc they are positive and uplifting. RoR is about staying true to yourself and overcoming doubters. I'm older, in my 40s, and not particularly a huge music fan. I found them on YT years ago and they are just really different, in a good way. It's cool to see at concerts a range of ages and people.

Great reaction. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su-metal was 17, Yuimetal and Moametal only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Any similarities to DragonForce and not coincidental - Herman Li and Sam Totman provided guitar arrangements and played on the studio recording for the album. They even played this song with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015.
Babymetal is awesome, and the backing band from Japan are awesome musicians, that drummer is sick as is the bass player, they're all great, no disrespect to the other guys from the west. You should listen to Rondo of nightmare from the Budokan show in 2014 with the Mischiefs of Metal Gods intro, that whole show is insane.
Aparte son controladoras de público soy su fans y me gustaría regresara yui .Momo está bien Pero le sufrió para que la dejarán cantar . babymetal las pioneras de su metal y tan.tan chicas entraron ❤❤las amo
As to the age range of the fans, I discovered BabyMetal sometime around 2015 and I'm absolutely obsessed with them. I'm 68 and hoping to get the see them this year when the tour the US. In fact following BabyMetal has opened me up to the world of current music and metal. Prior to this I was stuck in music from the 60s, 70s and 80s and I never listened to metal. I'm enjoying music more than I have for many years, all thanks to BabyMetal.
Yeah. Pretty much the same story. 70 in Nov. 6.5 years I've listened to them and watched them grow up. Their abilities and their power in their voices. Just getting better day after day. My eldest daughter showed me their one video on UA-cam mind-blowing. There's a lot of good music in Japan. Band-Maid Lovebites Aldious Hagane Doll$boxx...this is the starter list of bands. All female. All Japanese all-play their own instruments. They all have great singers. They all have great guitar players and bassists and they each have a fantastic wildly Great drummer
@@charleslatora5750 It's funny that your daughter showed you their video. I've showed my son a couple of their videos but he wasn't impressed. Of course they have 2 children and the oldest just turned 2 so they are busy with all of that and I doubt they have time to sit and really watch the videos. BTW I hit 69 in November.
Their demographic is basically anyone, at concerts you will see four year old girls with twin pig tails and tutus. to eighty year old men in Babymetal T-shirts and all in between. I would say it leans towards 50+ men but I think that is because the music is similar to what we grew up on, in the days before the growling we have now.
Great reaction! I have watched this video countless times, but from time to time it still makes me tear up. The performance is so flawless, and the crowd participation is so exciting. As you said, what an amazing feeling it must have been to stand on that stage, even more for girls of that age. There are a lot of people that don‘t like BABYMETAL, and that’s fine. But one cannot watch a show like this and then talk smack about it. Whatever one thinks about the band, there‘s no denying that they are putting on a top notch show.
You need to hear Headbanger by Babymetal. One of the live versions from the last few years is best. And you can hear the variants (moabanger) and (momobanger)
From the outside I think us metal fans who’ve never listened to Babymetal would be skeptical. They are so phenomenal. So good. Better than a lot of metal bands out there for sure. I think people who don’t like them haven’t heard them. I mean, I guess it’s obviously subjective. But one thing no one can say is that they’re bad. They’re amazing.
BABYMETAL fans (The One) are men and women from the age of 8 to 80. This band is built around the vocals of SU-METAL. Great reaction, you earn 🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊. 🖖❤
They made special shows where the audience was only women, or only old men, or only children with parents. But the best audience is when you see all of it mixed, e.g. Metrock or Wembley. No matter where and when the stork dropped you, BABYMETAL will get and raise you.
Great comments, very thoughtful and observant. Good job. This is one of Babymetal's truly classic performances. Now 10 years-I believe-later Su has said she remembers this as one of her favorite vocal performances. And for good reason I say. I've seen a lot of concerts in my day and I would put this one as one of if not the best of all of them. There is an epic almost magical chemistry between the girls and the fans. And the band does just kick ass. You mentioned Dragoinforce. Herman Li and Sam Totman did the guitar arrangements for this song. And they played them on the studio release at the time. It will never cease to amaze me the power and presence three teenage girls (17,15&15) have over this huge crowd. That power is given to just any performer. Babymetal had to have "something special" and to earn that amount of respect.
The girls were in their mid-teens when this video was shot, could you fathom confidently entertaining 20,000+ at 15 years old. As you said, this song was written with the help of Dragonforce, they have performed this song live with them.
Great reaction. Definitely been enjoying your journey so far, hope you keep going. There’s so much wonderful music to discover with these girls and the band.
Awesome reaction! Would love to see you back with “Headbanger” live at Legend 1997. This is a song that you definitely need to see the live version of.
I say this every time but to understand Babymetal you have to start from the very beginning ( Doki Doki Morning & Megitsune ) it is an amazing story told through music and shows just how epic their journey has been.
Their fan demographic is literally anyone and everyone across the globe, which actually says a lot about their ability to perform to such a high level and bring people together.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (circle pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in their almost every show (either in their headline or in huge festival) The audience reaction is always similar to it in this video. (Likewise in the two shows during their 2023 North American tour in your country : Tronto & Vancouver) In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:16 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile and matured mild voice that I love 😄
2:48 _Now Pizza time (Pizza time!)_ 🦊🤘🍕 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Nice to see you're back with this suggestion to follow your BM journey, just like here it was the ender for almost every show at the World Tour 2023/2024 and everyone loved to have fun with this one such last month at the Europe Tour and prior to that at Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas, they did a fun interview about it and you can see they were excited with Slipknot returns, another band BM producer loves) they were very supportive during early era or Metal Resistance chapter, also they played at San Francisco as part of the Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok and DragonForce were there playing too, another supportive band since BM beginning career and also involved in the album version of this song as well some live collabs together around those years. "Road Of Resistance" is a power/speed metal song, it's one of their most epic anthems and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. It's all about facing your own path without looking back. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they're performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are real and magnificent set of elite musicians, they were sent to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists). They are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly passed away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father was very famous in Japanese music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to make them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed from X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. Originally the demographic was aimed at younger girls like them but the fanbase started to grow and getting wider between 2 - 80 yo and everything in between, the lyrics on their songs talked about pretty much about what the girls are feeling at that age or at least that was the attempt from the composers, although the theme on this song isn't so girly, in general Metal Resistance album is a more mature chapter but without losing their kawaii side, still you will find deep meaningful lyrics on the first album such Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zettai and Headbanger!! among others. Next suggestion: - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013) See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Ijime dame zettai at 2014 sonosphere please! Its arguably the most important live performance of all time for Babymetal as it blew them up internationally.
This is the band that got me back into listening to rock and metal. You need to listen to Rondo of Nightmare Live at Budokan Black night next! Be careful. Their production company Amuse, is very quick with the strikes. Pause often and possibly use watermarks to protect yourself.
4:15 Welcome to how much of the world experiences English-language music. :D Okay, not exactly, as most people probably have some basic knowledge of English, but that usually doesn't extend to understanding music when hearing it for the first time. But just hearing the song without a deeper understanding what exactly is being sung, is really a quite common way to listen to music.
I felt that rock music was dead about 50 years ago, but when I heard this song, I was shaken by rock music for the first time in half a century. I am in my 60's and now I am a fan of BABYMETAL.
No it doesn't. The Live in Japan instrumentation is less technical, the audio production is worse, and it has a lineup that doesn't exist anymore. Su and Moa have improved leaps and bounds over ten years. It's a figment of the past and not representative of BABYMETAL at all.
Amazing as always. Never would I have thought a 17-year old and two 15-year old tiny humans can lead such a massive 20K crowd like this. Amazing. Dragonforce? Yep! Herman Li and Sam Totman were involved with the guitar parts. Herrman even said he thinks Takayoshi Ohmura (Pink guitar) can play even faster than him. Also, Su-metal’s vocals are almost always live, backing vocals is a bit of a mix of live + tracking due to choreo (varies song to song). Next suggestion: *Metali (Legend MM)* A newer song from end of 2023, ft. Tom Morello. “For the Fox God” channel has a solid pro-shot up, with a band intro! 🤘🦊
I would like a source of that Herman quote because I have never seen him say that and I've watched quite a few Herman Li interviews on this song. This is especially curious to me as speed is relative and what is happening in the Live in Japan version is less technical than the Dragonforce composition on the studio track and what Dragonforce performed at the Golden Gods.
@@Hymnodic Okay, I found it, Herman said Road of Resistance was “faster” than even some of their [Dragonforce] songs. Too many facts to keep track of lol. ua-cam.com/video/MgM0OKeT0dI/v-deo.htmlsi=3vAtCb_eSXQvMhf4
Great reaction! They are amazing, aren´t they? The SSA performance from 2015 is outstanding. I don´t say that other performances are bad, to the contrary 😉 I experienced "Road of Resistance" myself ("in your face!"🤣), it´s pure, happy madness and high octane, even in a small venue. In my case 4k people, totally different people all over there. From 16 (it was age restricted, because of Wargasm as support for that evening, I believe) to 80. At least I think a rather old couple and some guys were VERY close to that age 😄 There were some tough biker guys having fun, smiling all the time, a couple from (I believe) Ethiopia, in traditional clothing... and for RoR the crowd demanded the Wall of Death itself, as soon as RoR began. It was huge 😄 Btw., did you notice that in the "Wooohooohoo" part the crowd was led by Yuimetal and Moametal, too? And that the HUGE circle pit stopped, so that everybody could follow them, chanting? That´s a thing I only saw (and experienced) with BABYMETAL. They say, that the crowd is an important part of BABYMETAL, THE ONE, and that´s true. Especially at their concerts in Japan. The Japanese crowds are god level. The Kami Band in this is so great, I love the style of Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura with this. Their harmonies were great and their sound (together) was gorgeous, every single time. BOH and Hideki Aoyama were driving the whole thing, and they obviously had a lot of fun playing it 😉
think their stage performance in this video (15~17 years old) is the best because it was an encore song from a one-man show with intense dancing, and most of all, the band "Kami Band" from this era had world-class talents.
You assumed right that that they did not need autotune, especially Su. She could hit all them notes with ease and is even better now at 26 she was 17 in this performance but an incredible voice even then and Yui and Moa 15 Try Megitsune at the PIA Arena 2023 or Monochrome PIA Arena 2023. Welcome to the foxhole 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. BABYMETAL's lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the speed metal component in this one though. Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
Those girls have true power. The demographic is everyone, 8-80. You will never unhear that bad singing guy. At my last show, I had an 8 year old concert buddy and her dad. The 8 year old told me everything she liked. She was tugging my shirt to tell me stuff. Dad was happy, I was good with his daughter's desire to not include Dad. That is the BabyMetal way. We all love them. She wanted a non-Dad Fan to connect too. I was the victim, lol.
Great reaction, thanks! Yes, they totally know how to put on a great show. And this is from early 2015 so, as you can imagine, they only got better and better. Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal, the lead singer) is a hell of a performer (and she was just 17 years old here). But you can see in her eyes her drive, confidence and determination. That moment when they walked through the bridge was so special for them as Su-metal explained years later. She said that was one of her favorite moments on stage. She also made this song her personal anthem. You can tell she was on fire, specially during the second half of the song, by her expressions. Not to mention the moment she verbalized it by shouting: "Kakatte koi yaa!" ("Bring it on!"), which you noticed, by the way. What about something newer next? Here: "Mirror Mirror" (Live at PIA Arena 2023): ua-cam.com/video/DrNfDkP_Buk/v-deo.html 🤘🦊
I've watched all three of your Babymetal reactions and it seems to me that you really enjoy their vocals a lot. Know that Su-Metal is a singing nerd. She loves learning new ways to sing and love practicing them. I would suggest you react to BxMxC live. One of the most challenging songs for Su-Metal, she had a hard time finding her flow but now it's one of her favorites to sing.
Great reaction!! Keep em coming! If I am not mistaken Su-Metal was 17 years when this was filmed?. . . .Imagine performing like that as a teenager! . . .the other two girls were 15-16 I think. . . The guitar parts on the studio version of this song were written and recorded by Herman Li and Sam Totmen of Dragonforce. You were savvy to catch that vibe in the reaction. Herman said on his podcast that they never thought they (him and Sam) would have to play them live so they made them ridiculously challenging. . . . enter the guitarists from the KamiBand (God or Spirit Band). That is Babymetal's group of world class studio and touring musicians that rotate in and out (they all have their own projects as well) to back the trio in Live performance. They are all INSANE players! The drummer here is KamiBand East player Hideki Aoyama. They also have a group of American players who are their current group called the western Kamiband . They have Anthony Barone on the kit who is also a TOTAL BEAST!!!! Looking forward to your next Babymetal reaction:) Kitsunes up! 🤘🦊🤘 PS. Again, TheOne welcomes you to the foxhole 🦊Cuda-Metal!
Su has amazing crowd control only one other person i have ever seen with that kind of charisma on stage and that is the late great Freddy Mercury who used to tune the audience before a gig lol Babymetal are always better live 🦊
This song is about resistance, but it breathes victory. Suggestions? I would recommend to start with their first album and work your way up to the last. But to be a little more specific. There's lots of songs that have already gotten much attention. But there's a lot of less heard songs that are at least just as good. A song that I thought was more of a filler on the album when I first heard it, but now I love just every millisecond of, is Divine Attack. Mirror Mirror is another example. As for the lyrics, they never choose supervisual meaningsless words. I even took up japanese lessons to understand it beyond the given translations. Mirror Mirror ends with "atarashi sekai ima koko ni" ("A new world, here now!")
I‘ve you wanna hear Growl and singing from Momoko check Headbanger, Meta Taro and Metali from Momo‘s Birthday concerts Legend MM 20 and 21. 20 was the day before her birthday and I think you know for what this all stand. Legend (new from the Foxgod before the first song Death) 20&21 is the age. 5 Songs on both days (Death, Metali, Gimme Choclate, Doki Doki Morning and The One).

A technical suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or ten seconds before resuming, that way you regain the flow of the song. You may or may not know that if you tap your keyboard space bar once it will pause the video, another tap will resume play. Also, if you tap the left arrow key once, it will rewind the video five seconds (a second tap for another five seconds), and tapping the right arrow key will advance the video five seconds. This may also help baffle the YT copyright police. I will be the first to agree with The One that Babymetal is best served live but they have several music videos that are real works of art and definitely worth looking into ("Doki Doki Morning", "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), "Megitsune", "Karate", "BxMxC", and the Tom Morello collab MV "Metali!"). Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
by so far they are the best artist i have EVER seen live and i have seen a LOT of artists live- i feel like the only bands to have come close were cage the elephant and my chemical romance edit: thought about it and iron maiden def came close- i think its the venue for me that wins babymetal out. IM was in a stadium and BM in a small venue, which i far prefer
11:22 which is part of what makes them a gateway band to metal. Babymetal features on Bring Me The Horizon song Kingslayer, I noticed on your channel you have a Doom soundtrack reaction, the co-producer on that album was: Mick Gordon. He was part of it for the game music/sound effect, not the heaviness though.
Good reaction, I liked your commentary and analysis. Looking forward to more. Regarding the fans, I'm a 52yo man who grew up on Metallica, Megadeth and ACDC, tapped out of metal in the 90s as it got a bit repetitive, came back for Linkin Park but not much more. Babymetal is the freshest thing I've heard in 20 years or more. My 15yp nephew loves them too, I think Babymetal are a band for young and old.
Still the best version of this I think although it's always good - the crowd is very distinct - I guess they went to some trouble to include them in the audio. Great reaction!
Babymetal drummer Hideki Aoyama is the son of a known drummer in Japan, Jun Aoyama, who passed away in 2013. He also lost his younger brother drummer Aoyama Yuk. Quote from Hideki Aoyama: I will be inheriting the will of Yuki and my father, who were both drummers and showed love for their work
If you want to see the kami band then go for "Rondo of Nightmare + mischief of gods - 1997" - they so Solo before summoning the queen from the depths.. BxMxC Legend-MM 2024 for heavy metal wrap and amazing band from the western Kami band. "Monochrome 2023 PIA" for amazing visuals and vocals. "Just feel the music "
This was a fantastic reaction, thank you! There is just nothing like them, once you get hooked and keep delving in to their live performances and overall catalog and realize they are just always excellent, different, there is no going back. Look forward to more! There will be tons of great suggestions, no matter what you go with it will be great, live is usually better (though it is possible to find poor quality videos of live performances, I think it was a 2018 BBC recording that is somewhat infamous for just being terribly made, and some mashup videos that are not obviously mashups before you realize they look different as it goes).
I noticed that you visit Lovebites three years ago just once, you never watch a video from Band Maid, Gacharic Spin and East of Eden (the Japanese one) - you should update your Japanese side of music. You may get the mos recent of each band. Enjoy.
You don’t need to understand a word of English in order to appreciate Freddie Mercury on stage. Charisma, stage presence, excellent performance, speak by themselves.
I remember when I first heard Road of Resistance I commented that I really like the song but the woah woah part kind drags out too long. Someone replied that if you're hearing it live, it feels like 10 seconds. I've heard it live several times now and yes, it feels like its not nearly long enough. The only negative thing I have about this song now is that it's almost always the last song in the set. So it's bitter sweet when they sing it.
Well, by Default they have normally about 40% femalr Fans and the age range is from 5 to 85.And the important thing is in Japan Metal is a tiny nicht and they opened this nicht for other Bands, so they made really what they were created for.Open this tiny market that onöy contained men and they all got older year after year. While nowadays they have a real following of little girls. Something that didn't work in the beginning, you don't send Teenagern to a metal concert, but when your 8 to 10 year old daughters ask you that is something else. And for them important, while they were not created for the World, they achieved a purpose in Europe you can go with people that are not into metal to a metal concert. This brought them so many fans in Europe and a bit more limited in the US, that they are the International most successful japanese Band. They have nearly no competition in the japanese market.
@@Hymnodic Then I would really ask the question where and when you visited their shows. You can say when Yui left the show, they had practically no children and only few females, while todays children in Japan are nearly of the Charts. The basic problem was simply that no one allowed their children to go to Babymeral without Supervision. But it is a totally other question Mum and Dad want to Babymetal and the eight year old daughter wants to Babymetal too.Kobas expectation simply did not work. They don't come to Babymetal concersts by themselves but they come with their parents. They don't really want to go alone. Another Bonus if they are ypart of a Cosplay Scene. Their stage costumes are teally practical you can go eat something after the show without any worries. I had no interest to Set a point overvthe time, but more what can you expect currently. They are a vety useful Band for people that are not really interested in metal. In Japan they really ipened the door for many groups, while previously it was no exegeration by Koba the market were only ageing males and the girls tried to dance against this insanity. And in Europe the market was much better distributed. In Germany we observed a slight but general growth of female Fans. I would say in General you can see between 30 and 50% and in General it is quite easy to motivate them to come to Babymetal, they have more interesting elements.
@@Hymnodic I fully believe your analytics. It does seem though like maybe the demographics are a bit different in different regions. It seems like the audience in the US and UK have a bit more female attendees while maybe the Japan shows more male? But that is just the impression I get. I certainly know many , many female fans of Babymetal including some of the biggest UA-cam supporters (Ohmajination, Callie, Annie-Metal, etc.)
@@jimnusbaum3589 It will certainly skew based on region, but I don't think it differentiates outside of the normal of what is "metalcore" for the region, so more than extreme metal, and less than symphonic metal. As for Japan, I think a study in Japan showed about 5% female audience for the "heavy music" genre with female fronted bands, and they measured various bands and groups.
Did you notice that Ratatata, Karate, and Road of Resistance ALL sound NOTHING alike? They sound VERY different from one another. That is ALSO a fairly unique feature of Babymetal. All their songs are quite good, but also are very different from each other so you'll never have that, "Oh Babymetal sounds like THIS" feel. You can't really describe their sound except to say either they mix JPop with Metal, or they like to experiment with different music styles. But the sound from song to song is always quite unique. You mentioned that you don't care that you don't understand the language, that you STILL enjoy it. Su-Metal, the main vocalist, would take that as amongst the highest of praise as she likes to comment that she doesn't care of people don't understand the lyrics. She wants them to be able to FEEL the song. To her, the lyrics are almost not even important. So there's going to be a few things you may want to know if you continue down the foxhole that is Babymetal. First of all, this is what is commonly referred to as Babymetal 1.0. You have Su-Metal, Moametal, and Yuimetal. Su ALWAYS has a ponytail and 99% of the time has the mic. Moa and Yui adorn pigtails and are the main dancers and backup vocalists. Moa has dimples while Yui has Baby cheeks. So they can be identified by their cheeks essentially. If there are dimples when she smiles, then its Moa. If her cheeks are chubby, then its Yui. Easy. Yui had to leave the group in 2018 due to health reasons. At this point in times Babymetal was just a duo of just Moa and Su for a bit, but they felt the chemistry wasn't quite right, so they enlisted in 3 girls to take turns covering Yui's spot in dance along. They never sang along. These 3 girls were called the Avengers. You can tell you're watching an avenger by their hair style again. They won't have pigtails and they won't have a ponytail. Instead they will have little buns where there WOULD have been pigtails. Similar to Chun-Li in Street fighter I guess. Finally in July I think it was of 2023 Babymetal announced a new member to take over Yui's role. That young lady was one of the avengers. Her name is Momometal. When this happened Babymetal became what we commonly refer to as Babymetal 2.0. Momo has been a blessing in disguise I think as she has added a couple of things to Babymetal, but I don't want to ruin the surprise. One things that she has added though is a sense of mischief along with Moa. Before it was just Moa who was the mischievous one. Moa brought the smiles and fun to Babymetal while Yui it can be argued brought the Kawaii factor over the edge. Both placed an important role. Now Momo tag-teams with Moa and they have a lot of fun, often at Su's expense lol They all love it though. As I said though, Momo has other surprises. You'll know you're looking at Momo as she is even taller than Su by just a tiny bit, she's also the youngest of the 3. I won't really recommend which song is next, however I WILL say that there are 2 sets of trilogies that if you decide to a song from either of the trilogy, then you might as well do the trilogy. Nobody in the Babymetal community will mind I think it's safe to say. The 2 trilogies are the Trilogy of death and the trilogy of light. The song list for the death trilogy is Headbanger Live Legend 1997, Akatsuki Unfinished (I'd recommend adding in the regular Akatsuki as well maybe after the trilogy), and Babymetal Death! Live legend 1997. The 1997 doesn't refer to the year the concert took place, but rather the year Su was born as her birthday was just the day before the concert and they were celebrating her birthday. The second trilogy, the trilogy of light goes Starlight, Shine, and lastly, Arkadia. This is a bit of a sad trilogy as it was a dark time in Babymetal's history. Yui had left the group but even worse, sadly, their main guitarist, Mikio Fujioka (may he rest in peace...) died in an accident where he fell while stargazing. So this trilogy are songs which goes through the stages of grief. While there is no definitive proof these songs were released to pay homage to Yui and Mikio, due to the timing of their release, the meaning behind the songs, and even Su-Metal stating that she often thinks about Yui and Mikio when she sings these songs, many of us take this songs as a homage to 2 amazing people who left the band. Anyhow, hopefully that explains a little about this band (just wait until you watch them when they were still kids in their JPop school Sakura Gakuin... way too cute!) and gives you a bit more context and allows you to be able to tell who it is you're watching now too.
Babymetal demographics?.... Try watching a vid from their Forum show, you have guys, girls, 8yrs 80yrs, old skool grey bearded metal heads to pink hair scene kids to someones kid sister that just got off playschool.... Yeah, Babymetal spans every spectrum. And their music spans everything. They fuse metal with any and every genre (though I'm still waiting for a country metal crossover from them...).... Years and years ago I saw their first three videos (Doki doki morning, Iine, Megitsune) and I laughed my * off. I thought these were the funniest silliest Japanese videos I had ever seen. You know Japanese humor is something.... A couple of months later I saw this video, Road of resistance, and it was then when I realized that they are SERIOUS. They are the most serious and most professional heavy metal band in the world. They are breaking grounds. They made me go into concerts, no other band can cross that on their todo list.
I'm nearly sixty. I grew up with Pink Floyd and deep purple. These girls and the band are a breath of fresh air. It's needed!
I'm 57 and right there with ya!
Catching u guys with 47 🦊🦊🦊
The demographic of Babymetal fans is so diverse it's wild.
Good reaction! “RoR" is one of the iconic songs of BABYMETAL. Please keep listening to BABYMETAL!🤘🦊🔥🎸
Thank you! I'll keep listening!
If you want to hear Sumetal's voice really shine, listen to Monochrome - The First Take, Piano ver. It's just Su, a piano, and backup vocals, mostly from Moa. It really shows how amazing her voice is.

I'm a devout fan at age 73, have tickets to see them live in Bethlehem, Pa in November. When this was recorded Sue was 17 with phenominal crowd control
The drummer is a Japanese drum legend!!
The fact that the circle stops just to sing along and then continues after is incredible!!!!
Rammstein also does a great live show.
Welcome to the foxhole 🤘🦊🤘. Great react vid. Ty

At the end you said, "Three very important things..." I thought you were going to say, Yui, Moa, and Su. 😅
Nice to see someone else discovering Babymetal. You should check out Akatsuki or Rondo of Nightmare. Both are amazing Su solos.
Omg. Every time i get shivers goʻose bumps , tears in my eyes.
Like a spell of ultimate charm has been cast on me.
Band-Maid
Lovebites
Aldious
Hagane
Doll$boxx...this is the starter list of bands.
❤❤❤❤ cant wait see u react babymetal - megitzune live version
Headbanger Live at Legend 1997
Welcome back🤘🦊♪
Thank you!
Mind blowing performance! Hits soo hard!!! Showmanship is on another level 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Its so good!
BABYMETAL fans (The One) are men and women from the age of 8 to 80. This band is built around the vocals of SU-METAL. Great reaction, you earn 🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊. 🖖❤

Ya, I'm pretty sure I will still be listening when i pass 80 haha
@@marcmacinnis6610 true, that probably too ! Just hadn't see them personally, I guess it's kind of hard to judge sometimes too
They made special shows where the audience was only women, or only old men, or only children with parents.
She never said that.
Appreciate your enjoyment of my reaction and thank you for your suggestions!
This probably 1 on the greatest live performances ever done babymetal is just flawless here , su n the girls r absolute stage generals
I would say to check out Sis Anger live for just a Yui and Moa performance
Road of Resistance and HeadBanger are my favorite song because of how the crowd and the chants are part of a big part of the song
I've seen them in big and smaller venues but the crowd participation is truly insane... This band really makes my life better!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (circle pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in their almost every show (either in their headline or in huge festival) The audience reaction is always similar to it in this video. (Likewise in the two shows during their 2023 North American tour in your country : Tronto & Vancouver)
In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:16 meaning "Bring them on!".
2:48 _Now Pizza time (Pizza time!)_ 🦊🤘🍕
Welcome back to the Foxhole.
They are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums.
Next suggestion:
- Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013)

Okay, not exactly, as most people probably have some basic knowledge of English, but that usually doesn't extend to understanding music when hearing it for the first time.
I love when people react to this performance. The newer one people have been reacting to is great but this one easily tops it! 🦊🤘 "See You!"
No it doesn't. The Live in Japan instrumentation is less technical, the audio production is worse, and it has a lineup that doesn't exist anymore. Su and Moa have improved leaps and bounds over ten years. It's a figment of the past and not representative of BABYMETAL at all.
Happy I got it right the first time! They did phenomenal
I still prefer this one, it's just an amazing performance and control they have over the crowd at such a young age. It's really phenomenal.@@Hymnodic
@@Hymnodic I believe he mentioned it in one of his streams on youtube. Can’t recall which one. He was giving Takayoshi praise.
@@Ganimal83 Takayoshi is a very fast speed metal guitarist. Context matters though.

It was huge 😄
Btw., did you notice that in the "Wooohooohoo" part the crowd was led by Yuimetal and Moametal, too?

I love Su voice so much, and it gets better and better as the years go by.
Here: "Mirror Mirror" (Live at PIA Arena 2023): ua-cam.com/video/DrNfDkP_Buk/v-deo.html

Especially the recent performance at Legend MM. Su really put some special sauce on that song for this performance.
Looking forward to your next Babymetal reaction:)

She has a great suggested system of how to sort through the catalog to get a sense of where this band came from and how it has evolved into one of the biggest and busiest touring acts in the world!
It is only 12min and will give you enough background to really understand and appreciate some of the things you will encounter down here in the foxhole. .🦊🦊🦊 . . There are longer updated and more extensive guides you can get into later if you want even more info. In the meantime you will get plenty of suggestions where to go next from the comments. I recommend Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! Live from Legend 1997 Apocalypse concert.

This show celebrated Su's 16th birthday (1997 was the year of her birth in Hiroshima, Japan). This was 3rd to last song and . . its about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday. . .changing her life forever. Definitely give the lyrics a quick read b4 or after. Again, TheOne welcomes you to the foxhole 🦊Cuda-Metal!
OMG. . .I beat Grington to a reaction!!. . . LOL
@@CHRISCONTEPSS He'll be here no doubt. Very early hours in the UK 😉
Yes, this show was in January 2015, so Su had just turned 17 a few weeks before, and Yui and Moa were both 15.

Su has amazing crowd control only one other person i have ever seen with that kind of charisma on stage and that is the late great Freddy Mercury who used to tune the audience before a gig lol
Babymetal are always better live 🦊
Dragon-Force actually helped them compose this song. That's one reason it's so fast.
👍👍Awesome performance. "Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational BABYMETAL!" 🦊🦊🦊 🖖❤
Hahaha looking forward to it
I‘ve you wanna hear Growl and singing from Momoko check Headbanger, Meta Taro and Metali from Momo‘s Birthday concerts Legend MM 20 and 21. 20 was the day before her birthday and I think you know for what this all stand. Legend (new from the Foxgod before the first song Death) 20&21 is the age. 5 Songs on both days (Death, Metali, Gimme Choclate, Doki Doki Morning and The One).
Su metals very loudest screaming! You probably have to match that to the VERY LOUDEST SCREAMING FEMALE LIONESS, The very finest Lady Amada Yuna's, Her own screaming moment scene! Taking you out [ Taking you out Tonight! Final 2018 tour at zepp Divercity Tokyo. ] yes, right at the very beginning if the very impressive song ÷ For sure! Very unfortunately Amada Yuna had to enter retirement of August 3rd 2021! Beause of a very poor illness effects! We very truly miss the very finest screaming Red head young japanesse lady, Amada Yuna! Her very greatest successful achievements of very beautiful years! from 2016 to 2021! My great inspiring message is out again! Have a very impressive beautiful day.😀😊
A technical suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or ten seconds before resuming, that way you regain the flow of the song.
by so far they are the best artist i have EVER seen live and i have seen a LOT of artists live- i feel like the only bands to have come close were cage the elephant and my chemical romance
edit: thought about it and iron maiden def came close- i think its the venue for me that wins babymetal out.
He was part of it for the game music/sound effect, not the heaviness though.

more babymetal pls
Good reaction, I liked your commentary and analysis. Looking forward to more.
Regarding the fans, I'm a 52yo man who grew up on Metallica, Megadeth and ACDC, tapped out of metal in the 90s as it got a bit repetitive, came back for Linkin Park but not much more. Babymetal is the freshest thing I've heard in 20 years or more. My 15yp nephew loves them too, I think Babymetal are a band for young and old.
Dude You most to SEE the drums solo of Antony barone their second drummer

Enjoy.
BABY METAL🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
You got to let the videos play til the end. BM is good to the last drop and they have a way of throwing a goodbye suprise in.
The original lineup...Su, Yui, and Moa.
You don’t need to understand a word of English in order to appreciate Freddie Mercury on stage. Charisma, stage presence, excellent performance, speak by themselves.
Average fan age is between 8 and 80. Su-Metal was just voted the best female metal vocalist of all time.
I can say from the analytics of my channel, the largest group of viewers is 25-34 years, and second largest is 18-24 years.
@@HymnodicIf I remember correctly, there is another range of 45-54 years. But I'm outside of those.😄
@@dingjk5630 That age range is a much smaller percentage.
Voted best 2nd year in a row. 🤘🦊🤘
That's unreal! I love that!
🤘🦊🤘
The analytics on my channel show 15% female, which is reflective of every BABYMETAL concert I've been to.
Su- 16 years old, Yui & Moa I believe 14. Kami Band is awesome, check out Kami (god) intros!
Su- had turned 17 just the month before. Yui and Moa were 15.
Su was tired and done. I watch Su so much I can read her.
Doing a lite sub for now

The band shreds harder than the most beloved bands. They are crazy
Ever seen ladybeard?
Not being critical but every reactor always compares other bands to things they know, music and musicians play music.
