Every relationship which involves infidelity always results in broken hearts.
A great film , beautifully acted & scripted but nevertheless dealing with a hugely toxic & destructive subject.
Fine if you can ignore the collateral damage to the husband & children but you can't polish a turd.
She had a stark choice - destroy a good man & possibly alienate her children for ever or go with a man she barely knew but somehow appears to have become her soulmate.
Streep played the part as an intelligent, compassionate, caring & supportive wife & mother so can you really see her a few months down the line living in an alien environment coming to terms with the devastation she left behind & being blissfully happy?
She chose to remain knowing full well her chances of happiness, irrespective of what she did were gone forever.
She was selfish & foolish - he was an irresponsible uncaring marriage breaker indulging in the pursuit of a relationship in which there could be no winners!
In the USA as in the rest of the western world fewer marriages are happening & of those 80% (according to multiple surveys)are ending in divorce.
There is little doubt that many males are now questioning the validity of entering permanent relationships with the odds so highly stacked against them!
This version of a true classic movie/song moves this old man to his very core.
We must cherish every beautiful moment of our lives as if they are our last, or we
might have to face and ending such as this... so very bitter-sweet.

Skervydawg, you are right when you said that the movie is based on real life. It is MY life..I love the man but the future of my daughter became my priority. I have to sacrifice my very own happiness for her own . I cried and cried watching this movie and each time some family members what was the problem, i always said "my headache is killing me"..Beautiful movie, beautiful songs and music, excellent actors.. perfect!
I think when we all get to a certain age after all is said and done.....at some point in our lives we are able to look back and say.....I have had that once in a lifetime person in my life. 💝
Everybody should have someone that feels this way about them at least once in their lifetime.

This song so describes my husband and I. He is my life. Now he has gone to Afghanastan! My heart feels so heavy and part of my soul went with him! I miss him and love him more than I thought was humanly possible to love anyone. He tells me it is only 6 months. It feels like a lifetime. I just want him safe and home soon!!

I wonder what my children will find out if they take the time to go through journals and memory boxes after I'm gone. I've had 2 great loves besides their father, and this scene reminds me of the mementos I still hold. Would loved to have told them about it all. ❤
Depends on whether you had the "great loves" before or after you committed to the children's father.
It's not too late - why wait until you are not around - go on girl, share the happy tidings & bask in the outcome!
Given you haven't had the good grace to enlighten the father or the children would appear to indicate that you are less than proud of your endeavours - fearing those receiving your romantic? good news history might not be as receptive as you would hope.
Why the heart emoji?
I'm not sure my old Dad, if this happened to him, would be all that impressed to receive a cascade of my mother's cherished romantic history.
Knowing him I've a feeling that DNA tests would be the order of the day!
I would suggest that you take the advice given in the Cheaters Manual:

The credit is his and I feel bad now that he didn't put it on his own because he did do a wonderful job with this and the ending is very emotional. You're so right about the chapters of relationships, they can be bitter sweet but we never forget those that we love no matter how short or long and this movie really shows that. Even though it is Floyd's very first video , but It bring me tears as his other videos . We all have our own story . Sometimes we have to close the chapter no matter what . Sometimes the chapter long soemtimes it is short , someimes it seems like never ending , bit they all fill with human emotion .
