Half pint - Bravo! Yours is the best reaction to this song I've seen. You hit the nail on the head -- Haley projects confidence and commands any stage. You can't take your eyes off of her...for fear that you'll miss even a second of her gorgeous voice and stage presence. Haley is sexy in that old-school classy way -- no gimmicks, pyrotechnics, "wardrobe malfunctions", or stage show -- just pure talent. She's the personification of the best attributes of several "greats", including Amy Winehouse, Sade, and Karen Carpenter.
corker... your the first that i have seen mention karen carpenter in reference to haley and i completely feel the same. although their specific sound and range is different there is something magical about their general tone and vibrato that is eerily the same. it's as if they are singing directly to you in very personal direct way that touches your soul as crazy as it sounds... the effect is nearly identical
@@HaleysTusk "superstar" is my overall favorite arrangement of the the carpenters but "rainy days and mondays" highlight karens' voice the best. her lead vocals were stunning not to mention the great harmony of the backup vocals from richard, etc.
@@HaleysTusk I'm 4 months younger than Richard and 3 years older than Karen. I listened (and watched when they appeared on TV) to and fell in love with their sound the first time I heard them, and went on to follow them until Karen's death. She's been gone for 38 years and I still tear up whenever I hear a recording of her voice. As Jay says, her golden voice touches your soul. Invariably, when I watch young people do blind reactions to her performances, one of my comments is "Karen was an angel." Haley makes the same connection.
I love how you point out that what Haley does is more than just singing, it is a performance. And her beautiful powerhouse voice is something of course, but it is also her eyes, her hands, her hips. She hypnotizes like a siren. So feminine as you say. I think she is the greatest singer of our generation, not just for the voice, but for her aura, her charisma, her gorgeousness. For a change in pace, try her duet with Jeff Goldblum, where she sings straight on jazz with her playfulness on full display with Jeff who adores her performance.
"She hypnotizes like a siren...her aura..." These descriptions are spot on! You can't focus on anything else when she performs. It doesn't matter that I've watched the Haley/PMJ cover of "Creep" a hundred times -- every time I enjoy watching a reactor discover her, I watch every second of the performance one more time.
Hey Half Pint, might want to put up on Instagram that you posted this here on UA-cam - was no notification dear! This young lady has a lovely voice! Much love & positivity always Half Pint & GITANO'S!!!💙💟💙
Haley and Postmodern Jukebox are awesome. You should do their version of All about that base, European version. It's so fun and classy and sexy, you will love it I'm sure. Great job Gitana,
You are so on point with this reaction!!! That voice is just incredible, "Siren" might be the best description I've heard. It sucks you in and you are there in her world. That's special!. Great reaction!! Say something😁
Great reaction video, my first intro to your channel! Haley has long been my favorite artist and just when I think she’s at the top of her game she keeps on killing’ it with more surprises! Like this magnificent performance. I completely agree with your comments and sheer joy for this performance!
I agree with you about Haley's femininity, in my opinion, she is the sexiest singer performing today, and she does it all with her clothes on, it is in her singing, movements, and facial expressions. Sometimes in the pursuit of all the vocal fireworks, her interpretation of the meaning of the song isn't quite there, but in this one she hits it spot on. This was absolutely phenomenal.
You make me so happy watching your reactions. You are such a bright spirit. I feel like I’m hanging out with a friend. Thank you for sharing your time and joy.
Honestly, I like this, and her rendition of _Seven_ _Nation_ _Army,_ even better than _Creep._ You can go down a very, very deep rabbit hole if you start in on all the stuff PMJ has done.
She is a typical diva. Discovered her when she sang Seven nation army. She looked like a personification of Jessica Rabbit. From the movie Who framed Roger Rabbit
I’m shocked a NYC music collective can find fabulous musicians, shocked I tell you. They are going back on tour. Buy your tickets now. They shows are so much fun. If you wish to to see what PMJ can do watch “Stacey’s Mom”. It super fun.
I saw Post Modern Jukebox a couple of weeks ago a Town Hall in NYC. They are an amazing band. The 3 feature female and 1 male singers were outstanding. They also featured an amazing tap dancer. Probably the best concert I've seen - ever. Would love to see Haley but the performers at this concert were over the top. The arrangements were out of this world. The tapper danced to the Mario Brothers theme song - a jazzy arrangement. Their rendition of Chandelier by Sia was literally thru the roof. Of course, the first encore was All About that Bass and the the final encore was the Theme from Friends - like you've never heard before. Maybe Angelina Jordan, when she's older, would be part of the group in the future. Her jazziness would be perfect. AND - another great reaction by you.
If you haven't already reacted to her singing these two and I missed them react to her cover of "Black hole sun" with PMJ or "Lay it down with just Casey Abrams in black and white. Both are , in my opinion, exceptional.
People sometimes catch the Mashup with You Don't Own Me but hardly anybody makes the connection that the whole arrangement is totally in the style of a Burt Bacharach song.
Featuring Haley Reinhart the singer arrangement and music by POST MODERN JUKEBOX I know you meant to say that and agree that it’s sometimes difficult to see past Haley’s stellar vocals
Thank you Gitana, wow that is pure Haley at he sultry best..Man can she heat a room up and her voice is perfect for this style of song..Then there is the band...Both a work of art..
Not sure if you know who Rani Mukerji is, but she reminds me of her song Chhabeela from Sawaariya. Body confident with sultry swagger on a fuller figure. And she uses her body alot which is common in Bollywood. She is as much a visual artist as she is a vocal artist.
Just when I think she's channelling Peggy Lee in the 50s doing Fever, out comes Haley, roaring like a lion, whew !! Girl cain saing !! Thanks for doing this and how 'bout some new Dimash, Fly Away, he's hot !! That hat, suit, oh baby... !!
Hi I really appreciated the way you described Haley and her performance in this video you really nailed this one. Please react to Haley and PMJ covering Oops I did it again. You will not be disappointed Haley takes Sultry and Voice skills to another level please please please react to this.
I agree with all you said BUT I always feel like I'm missing a significant part of the performance if I'm only listening to the vocals. Her body language is a big part of the whole package.
Gitana I know how you feel about Haley, you should react to Haley, Slash, and Myles Kennedy's performance of Rolling Stone's song Wild Horses! It was in 2015 at Mohammad Ali's 70th birthday bash!
Gitana, you hit the nail on the head with this one. What we have just seen and heard is a master class in confidence and voice control by Haley Reinhart. I know I'm showing my age with this comment, but Haley reminds me of the famous actress and entertainer Mae West, who was class incarnate and could wrap any man around her little finger. This performance by Haley was so sultry and sexy that, after I watched it, I had to go take a cold shower. Whew! She almost made my computer overheat. Loved your reaction; keep up the great work.
The style of 60's music and the powerful yet sultry voice, GOOD choice I'm gonna listen to more Postmodern jukebox Videos. This one seems to have put a Big smile on you prettyv little face. Would Love to See them LIVE in Concert sometime..... F.Y.I. Reba McEntire re-released "DO HE LOVE YOU" Featuring Dolly Parton. Maybe you'd want to react to that and if it get blocked on you tube you can post it on your Patreon Page. --- Bill V
Scott seems to have integrated a lot of old hit tunes in there. I heard the chord progressions from "You Don't Own Me" in part of it there around 5:25 .
Just as Haley comes back to the mic after her turn, she whistles a couple of notes. You have to pay attention to pick it up. First time I've heard her do this in her music. I'm suspecting, but don't know for sure, that she may have picked that up from Ariana Savalas. Ariana whistles in her music. Haley, Ariana and Morgan James toured together with PMJ.
I very much enjoy seeing ladies be feminine and men be masculine. Lines have gotten way too blurred these days. Now I need to find something where you're all dolled up in a long ballroom dress!! 🤩😍🔥🔥 Beyond the Haley and the band, I get a kick out of xylophone/saxophone dude popping in and out of the shot!! 😂
Would be interesting for PMJ to collaborate with Morissette. I think her voice can adapt to any genre Scott Bradlee would arrange for her. Anyways, when you get a chance kindly react to Morissette's co-written original song Will You Stay - ua-cam.com/video/wDz6QflAEU4/v-deo.html
Hi Gitana. It's a first impression as I've never heard of Haley before but I felt as though she was really straining her voice. I know that Adelle had to take time off because she strained her voicbox and I wouldn't like her to have to do the same. From the voice coaches on UA-cam I get the impression that there is a way to get the effect she is reaching for without hurting herself. I did enjoy her performance.
stephen... she is not straining. that is haley's very unique husky natural voice. there are a lot of vocal experts on youtube, etc that have confirmed this about her and even warn newbie singers not to try to hard to imitate her sound. if you liked this you should check out "creep" w/ pmj. "don't speak" is superb but "creep" is a masterpiece and maybe one of the best cover ever done.
@@jaybourne1185 The PMJ/Haley version of "Creep" is, indeed, a masterpiece. Don't expect their version to be styled like the original, however. Same lyrics, but it ends there.
I would be concerned if Haley were performing this nightly, but she's not. Some reactors knowledgeable about singing have noted Haley uses her lower body and arms to support what she's doing vocally. One of their comments about this song: "It's important to have your body loose and free so you can support your sound and use your breath, and have a certain fluidity and then direct that energy. And when you're using your hands like this it helps to direct that energy. She's doing so many awesome things.' As others have noted, Haley does have a naturally husky voice. I totally agree that she is a great singer, but I think she is way off on her interpretation of a song that is so serious, especially when she gets light and flirtatious.
Just a stunning woman in every respect, artistically, vocally and pure feminity. Men go to war to defend this.
Noticed the progression from You Don't Own Me in the instrumental break...
I’ve seen Haley live many times and you are spot on- she is powerful divine feminine energy incarnate, and commands the room from start to finish 🌺
You are so fortunate...lucky you.
