IWD, independent wheel drive, is the best. EVs are truly on a new level
I have enjoyed my AWD Twin Turbo Ford Taurus SHO here in Michigan over the past 6 years in all seasons. Hasn't let me down.
@@RantzCore I live in New York, where we have a lot of harsh, unpredictable winters. I have to reconsider RWD. But they are fun to drive no doubt.
AWD for sure
RWD with rear or mid-engine.
RWD - most fun
AWD - most practical
FWD - most economical
Awd can drift really good like audi rs4 in winter
RWD - Intuitive, well balanced and drivable
AWD - Low Traction Surface King
FWD - Unbalanced shitbox that understeers for days and breeds horrible habits that can literally kill you in both the other types.
@@Dominik189 clearly not a car guy
@@catf4077 no, haven't been one for 4 years now... And only been driving for 15 or so... And I mean on the road and the track.
@@Dominik189 people love defending their fwd shit boxes.
AWD for me. More traction usually equals a faster launch. It allows for better comfort and security while accelerating through those corners. AWD makes the difference during winter.
You’ll still need good tires.
- Subaru driver
Traction doesn't always mean a faster launch if your car is too slow to break traction to begin with. Power is essential too
@@joshthomas2536 very true, if you don't have enough power, it simply just adds weight. (in terms of traction and launch)
@@joshthomas2536 my Q50 is AWD and breaks traction all the time. But Infinity AWD system isn’t AWD all the time. It’s normally RWD until the front wheels start to slip then the AWD kicks in
@@wes276 Stop vaping

RWD. Pure, drifting is sweet, and takes some skill to control with high power and limits.
Like takumi in his 86
for a car guy no but for normal person no and you dont hoon everywhere do you i say for normal ppl is fwd its easy to control or awd if you live in rough places keep in mind not everyone watching this is a car person
@@paperisbored If you’re a normal person all you should worry about is not getting RWD. And yea, I hoon everywhere. It’s fun.
@@cornercarver636 do i care...no i dont
@@paperisbored lmfao ok bozo
Front wheel drive is easy for me to drive. "I drove a Dodge Journey"
But I like Rear Wheel Drive.
FWD for daily driving on the cheap, AWD drive for putting power down to the road and RWD for the purest driving experience at least that’s how I look at it
One of your best videos yet. And, yes, an understeer/oversteer video would be awesome. great work as always!
Thanks!
Obviously a to door and AWD to increase the grip and mostly acceleration
I wish Honda had made more RWD cars
I agree with that
S2000 should comeback indeed with RWD
Me too.
The accords
@@dariusrivera1697 they're fwd
Always in for an ideal vid ❤️🤟🔥
All wheel baby. Gave me the most confidence in the world on them turns
If you want drift or drag go rwd. If your state has lots of rain or snow get awd. If neither of these apply get whatever you want
Yep! I’m getting a AWD, thanks my guy 🙏
Great content guys *ESPECIALLY* since most Guys are REALLY stressed
I really like FWD even in the racing setting. RWD is fun as well, I stay away from AWD don't want to get to comfy in one and push too hard
Love ur videos bro very informative and fun😀😀😍😛
My 06 outback is a beast both on and off road with exceptional handling for a wagon and unlike my 04 accord I wrecked it won't loose grip as aggressively as the accord did. My outback is going to be one beautiful race car one day
FWD - Understeer
RWD - Oversteer
AWD - Skids!!
It's all about the rear-engine front wheel drive Dymaxion.
If your referring to Porsche then you're probably going to lose control in high speeds dude to the weight of engine. Corners and good handling go hand n hand with a Porsche.
@@alexlopez5800 Porsches are Rear engine, rear drive, or mid engine, rear drive.
Also, that's not really true; most people are more than capable of driving a porsche or an MR2 or a Lotus, which are all rear engine, rear drive or MRR, with little issue.
@@fuzzpunks3639 I didn't mention that the cars have issues. The nature of the beast is that it naturally does that due to the weight of the engine.
ideal like always!
first let’s go man love the vids❤️
Rear-biased AWD. 35/65 with rear LSD is all you need
Love the vids
Why is this channel not at 1M subscribers
i mean idk which is the BEST, they all have there pros and cons. people might think rwd is the best and it is but only for what its good for. for straight line street racing awd is the best. for drifting rwd, and im not to sure what fwd is good for but some of those civics are crazy 😳
FWD - cheap
You didn't mention fwd torque steer.
I love it .
RWD Classic way to drive and AWD for unpredictable weather
I hate FWD .
Fwd is good for wet weather too but
It is hard to brake smoothly in an FF
Just takes time and practice I’ve been driving a rather heavy Front wheel drive car for a long time and it’s become second nature for me to break in a smooth controlled fashion.. a good driver adapts to their car’s driving characteristics
@@MissingLinkGTRS fwd still feels weird to me but kinda useful
For 90% of the population fwd. The other 10% can fight over the rest. Fwd,
Cheaper to manufacture, more efficient better mpg, less expensive to repair, less weight.
Even if your in the snow ❄️ belt, kissing cousins to Canada(I’m sorry if your are), fwd is better with 2 front snow ❄️ tires, not four like Awd that you need.
Even if you drive a ev, Fwd is better for regen hands down!
For the good old boys (and girls), that are into 4 wheel drive, let’s just say they like 4-wheel drive along with a favorite beer, nobody is going to change them. Again, if your in the southern area of the US don’t let the salesperson talk you into awd, you just don’t need or really want it, they want you to have it
I need that video on under vs over Ster
You guys are rocking yaa
I love how they showed a shot of 1979 BMW M1 racecar for "modern aerodynamics"...
Do a video of the Honda crx please am a big fan
yeah i think you should make a vid on understeer and oversteer
thx
Oversteer is when the rear tires go faster than the road below them because off lack off grip
I Love all of them
FWD is for real drivers, tourque steer is all I gotta say
Torque steer is actually kinda fun too fight tbh
I daily a saturn sl2. Lmao. Torque steer is life.
FWD 4 Banger Gang where you at? before you start hating on me.... I'm from Canada, FWD is more practical for the winters here. My daily is a 2010 civic si
great video
I liked rwd for racing back in the day and still do but to be on the safe side on those bad roads i would get an awd for now.
for me Rwd because Drifting
Understeer vs Oversteer please!!!!
Wouldn’t awd be better for putting down power on bumpy roads?
Well my Stealth RT front wheel drive handles great around corners and it sticks great
Handling isn't all about grip. What does your stealth do when you break traction? Is it scary or fun?
@@mikeb9569 not had that happen yet
Rear-Wheel-Drive=power from rear wheels. Front-Wheel-Drive=power from front wheels. All-Wheel-Drive=Front-Wheel-Drive+Rear-Wheel-Drive added with zero modification to the drivetrain configuration. Four by Four (4x4) is a Rear-Wheel-Drive vehicle modified so that the drive wheel also drive the front wheels. This is if I'm correct, what is so hard with jusst saying this?
Your t shirt is 🔥
What about Rear engine Rear Wheel Drive? Has the driveline efficiency, cabin space, and weight-over wheels thing of FWD, has the good handling of RWD, and as long as you keep the weight distribution around 43-39% front, it isn't too crazy twitchy like mid-engine RWD, as long as you know how to take advantage of that mass of the engine and such being ALL the way out back. (Don't lift.)
Where did you get your t-shirt from?
Nice
Hi Brad is the chr the best suv by Toyota that has the sickest widebody
I like to do rallycross on my spare time and i am fan of Toyota's.
I have driven cars/trucks for 66 years and have driven all types of drive, RWD, all that was available when I started driving, there were some 4 wheel drive jeeps and a few rare 4 wheel drive pickups, drove em for years no problems they all got the jobs done, then rear engine RWD, VW came along, then front wheel drive and drove em for years they got things done, and then AWD, have driven them for about 15 years living in an area that gets real winters for 4 to 5 months a year and they are the cats meow, they really work well, especially with studded snow tires all around, as do 4 WD trucks. would not drive anything else. It does not matter about efficiency or all the technical crap, they just work and work well !!! My motto is "It is better to have and NOT need .....than to need and NOT have !!!
I personally think that neither is better than the other, they all have advantages and tradeoffs, and it depends on preference and priorities.
More like needs, and what works the best for most conditions !!!
Don't know if this is about just new cars, but everybody that does these seems to forget about the VW bug same economics as FWD all one unit but mounted in the rear and RWD, put some snow tires on them and best thing ever in the snow
Rear wheel drive ftw
FWD is sufficient even for most car enthusiasts. I beat S2000s, corvettes and 370z routinely at autocross in my Scion tc. It really comes down to your seat time to get the most out of your car. That being said if you are one budget getting FWD will usually mean you get a nicer ride, that is easier to live with.
Gimme your driving skill pls
Not a big fan of FWD since they require more skills and more money to fix
@@Windows11Official I wouldn't say they require more skill. Rwd and fwd just behave differently
As long as you do NOT have to deal with going up hills in snow and Ice !!! Even RWD is better there !! !
@@wilburfinnigan2142 nope not even
Brad can u do an video that has the best suv widebody kits
Front-Wheel-Drive may be easier and cheaper to build, but they don't last as long under continued regular use over a long period of time. And yes, I now a few people dispute this claim. But please. How many vehicles are out there now that are of your particular vehicle? A Front-Wheel Drive vehicle in MOST cases will not last as long. And this is because they are built with a weakened structure in it's design. The Front of the car has too many parts in one place and has all of the vibration of all of the moving parts and the vibration of actual movement on just on part of the vehicle. The structural problem is from the fact that the drive wheels aren't on a solid frame like they are on a Rear-Wheel-Drive vehicle. And that leads to added wear over a shorter period of time.
Tell that to my Toyota.
I really don’t care what wheels are being driven because an experienced driver can make anything look and or feel fast people who specialize in FWD cars are going to preform better with a front wheel drive car than some novice with a RWD car personally I daily a FWD car but I’m looking at getting another car which I’ve narrowed it down to a couple different models most of them are RWD and a couple are AWD in any event it all comes down to preference and the only real way you can be sure on what you prefer and are there by most comfortable in is to go out and drive different cars from each segment
@LeonL47 and that’s fair as it makes sense for your application
Was that a fwd drag car with a wheelie bar?!
AWD can never go back once driven. Beast in the snow and rain.
nah lol I was in rear, tried all and then went right back to rear.
Absolutely !!!! !!
@@lucasmiller6681 You obviously do not live where you get real winters or a lot of rain, or you are just ignorant !!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142 well I don’t live in a place where it snows…..so I like rear.
How about diagonal drive, opposite corner wheels only.....
AWD means more tires to be replaced more often. Also means off balanced alignment. I don't see the use of a AWD car in normal driving conditions.
To be honest with you, if your car's on low speeds, you're totally right, but in high speeds,it gives you more grip so that you don't lose control
Tires are eaten faster but idk about the alignment part. You running over pot holes, speed bumps, and curb a lot? I hadn’t done a alignment on my AWD the past 30k miles and it still straight… lol
Alex you obviously do not live where you get REAL winters with snow and Ice, IF you do you will change your mind if you have any smarts left !!!
@@chickenricesteak541 Tire wear has never been a problem an any of my AWD vehicles, but you do have to replace ALL 4 at the same time !!!
I could be wrong but pls feel free to correct me I think theres a awd system that reduces the the power to the front wheels sometimes shutting it 100% off to reduce understeer and turning it back on to 50/50 to exit the corner I've read this somewhere but I cant find it maybe its not really a thing just an idea or a prototype
A lot of german awd systems are mainly rwd but put power to the front wheels when its needed
The all wheel drive will help on rain with only 155s
the anwear is : Golf GTI, Audi Quattro, E36/46 :) thank U thank U :)
Among 2WD, for daily driver and all/mainly street use, FWD works better in most situations
Man it’s been so long
I love cars the best and fun
V8 (the biggest you can afford), RWD, Automatic (no manual for me).
*Laughs while drifting and doing a burnout in my ‘15 Jetta TSI*
What about left wheel and right wheel drive?
😳
AWD all day for me baby
It's just super practical,RWD is fun but needs skill,FWD is basically super easy to drive but sometimes it feels boring
Cool 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
all three of these drivetrains are good in their own way for what you want the driver I'm one of those people that says you're going to like what you're going to like if you want to drift and have good power slides and have fun going around corners rear wheel drive if you want to get good grip powered off four wheels live in the mountains four-wheel drive if you want to have to hold the back of your car like a shopping cart to burn out you want front wheel drive
The thing with RWD is that apart from the fun factor it offers no real practicality. AWD is the better all-around package in almost every scenario, or FWD if you're going for a cheap economy choice (in most cases).
*cmutch kick* + *counter steering*
Lightweight fwd 900kg 280whp vs heavyweight awd 1600kg 280whp, which faster, drag, track and hillclimb
Why do i always find your vids 5 days after they come out 😬
This chanel is slowly turning into gaming chanel
the rwd is the best for performance and drifting
the fwd is the best to light the weight
the awd is better for performance, offroad, etc.
I've watched 2 vids on this and they ignore fwd drifting :(
What is your favorite drivetrain Ideal? I'm obsessed with rear wheel drive! People in the comments, tell meyour favorite.
AWD followed by 4x4 for trucks !!
Just seen a advertisement about V-Fit and I thought this was his channel..
I made my choice long ago
Drifted the rx8 for the first time today
RWD or AWD only, don't like FWD at all. To me it takes all fun from driving. I own 2016 BMW M135 Xdrive, but it is RWD bias, so I kinda have the best of both worlds.
I’ve always thought this was the best. Having both with a bias? Couldn’t ask for more!
Best all round cars I've owned are:
1. UR Quattro
2. Evolution 8
3. Subaru Forester STI
There a theme here AWD is king of the road... the evolution of cars basically moved from RWD to FWD then AWD.
RWD is fun but dangerous
FWD is safe but boring
AWD is best and pushes boundaries. Imo😉👍
RWD and AWD for the win
Please oversteer and understeer vid
FWD is fun too tho
i think front wheel drive is the worst bc understeer is hell
Anything thats rear wheel is the correct answer
I know this is supposed to be a "High Level" explanation of each drivetrain but AWD can be rear biased as well as front biased. Not all AWD systems work the same. Rally AWD systems are better than generic "Just to say it has AWD" AWD systems and they all perform very differently. I know as a fact that Evo AWD can oversteer instead of understeer in a turn making the argument in this video about AWD having problems from both drivetrains combined moot. The center differential has been the game changer. You can now do RWD drifts in your AWD car. Might be smokier though because you're smoking 4 tires instead of just 2.
I agree, but can you turn in as fast in your Evo as a Miata? The CV joint has to be relatively restrictive of movement, or am I wrong?
@@mikeb9569 actually, it might be able to do so based on how the Evo's AWD system works. The SAWC can slow down the front inside tire and speed up the rear and front outside tires causing a rotation that would not be typical of the CV joint range of motion on an Evo. Thus allowing greater turn in than it should be able to have. Nissan's ATTESSA AWD system is even better than that. So it's highly likely it can. If you try that in an older Evo though, it might not be possible, no.
Awd for winter
I got everything figured out including money. But my parents won’t let me keep it inside, and I’m not keeping a corvette out to let weather wear it down and let stupid kids ruin the pain(my ranger got egged afew weeks ago, luckily it landed in the bed off the paint, would love to kick some ass lol). Anyways, yeah a c5 corvette manual t56 coupe. That’s the dream.
Hello,
Hope you are doing well. I want to buy a car but I have below factors -
I am in USA for max 3 more years so I have to resell it.
I mostly work from home so I need a car in which I can roam around in city or may be once a month on a long trip.
I do need car with more features than power.
My budget can range between 20 to 35 K depending on the car. Lesser the better. 😊
Please suggest me something as I am really getting confused what to buy in this uncertain market.
Thank You

On EV it’s gotta be all wheel drive
Actually, there is another drivetrain called individual wheel drive ( IWD)
It exists on the lotus evija
I'm just gonna put my fwd car in reverse and now I have rear wheel drive and rear wheel steer.
