I see a lot of people confused about the "change of concept" and the lyrics, so I figured I would explain the context behind this MV. Before every comeback, Dreamcatcher always release a "mystery code" - a picture with hints about the future comeback. For this CB, the mystery code consisted of a whole ARG with an X account (ymenehcra99, who also appears in the MV in 0:48 and 2:35), documenting the descent into madness of the user, who was obsessed with "the crown". The person running the account mentioned doing things like spending lots of money on luxurious clothes, chasing a truck with the crown symbol and almost getting into an accident as a result, and they even posted an audio of what sounded like an alarm, as if they had stolen something; all that in order to be "worthy of the crown". This MV might seem flashy and superficial, but it's supposed to be satire about how things like the idol industry (and social media too) are not as glamourous as they seem at first, since a lot of what is posted is actually fake. It's also critisizing how some people are willing to do anything to be famous and get attention: buying nice clothes and faking a luxurious lifestyle (hence the OOTD lyrics being so narcissistic and so "generic" - they're playing as the "villains" who let fame and power get to their heads/won't stop at nothing to get attention - and Sua and Siyeon posing in front of cars and motorbikes around 0:27 and 0:40), staging fake drama (like Handong and Yoohyeon faking a fight in front of the camera in 1:32, only for Handong to help Yoohyeon immediately afterwards), or even editing their reality to make it look more interesting or appealing (see for example the very obvious green screen behind the girls during the dance scenes in 2:55, or the multiple photo/video editing references, like in the very beginning of the video). DCC really put a lot of thought into the concept, so it's a pity that many people don't have enough context to properly understand it. Hopefully this comment clears the confusion about the lyrics and concept!💖
I'm in the satire camp on this one. It's subtle, but the smoking gun is the bit in the middle where the song stops briefly and the view pulls back to show all the cameras and staff. That makes it clear enough that the whole "we're so rich and perfect" shtick is nothing more than a staged act, just like it is for everyone else in the industry who uses that tagline. Deukae always has a deeper meaning.
The whole mv, lyrics are satire. Not about just boost confidence, hotshot, im the best vibes. The album clearly called villainS.. there is so much details in music video / new lore. about sound, I felt the same just some of them that didnt like this song or were unfamiliar with this sound, but it definitely grew for me 👍🏼 this album 10/10 for me
The fact that this song/mv are SATIRE/Social critique, calling out all the fake , insta-people, influencers, etc. ❤ While at the same time making it a flex ❤ Whole album is a big SLAP in the face. Its soooo different and yet that makes it even more Dreamcatcher ❤ Handong and Gahyeon are HELLA AGRESSIVE in this 😍 SuA on that bike... nah im good OMFG😍 JiU letting us know she is a GODDESS is FACTS❤ Siyeon... bruh... Bloohyeon needs to PUNCH ME IN THE FACE AND END MY LIFE ( lets be honest she already did ) DAMI TOLD ME TO GET THE F**K OUT OF HER WAY 😍😍😍 YES MA'AM I WILL F**K ALL THE WAY OFF ❤ Near the ending when Jiu says the spotless line... the facial expression she makes... SHE ENDED ME
You could think this is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. I have no idea if my theory is correct, but the fact that the album is called VersuS VillainS makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe useless instagram influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion. The fact that fashion is moving ever faster is the most destructive industry to the planet apart from the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up. The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback. It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well. The music is highly interesting as well. There still is rock there, but dialed back. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is punk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.
Hi. When I first listened to OOTD, I thought the song was so amazing and great, by the way, it was different from what I had expected, so I felt unfamiliar a little. But, the second and third... As I listened to it, I see myself quickly falling into the magic of another Dreamcatcher as I always did. Surely, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher ! 👍
Hi. You must check the album (B-side) by Dreamcatcher. You shall be shocked. 😉 OOTD..Rising..Shatter..We are young. Just Masterpiece ! It is Dreamcatcher. Thanks.
Dreamcatcher's themes have usually come in trilogies and I love this start of a new era. It still sounds like them, but how they would do a version of what a lot of groups have done lately
Appreciate the check in Ace. I've never been ok in my life and certainly will not be after this, but thank you for asking. Yeah I definitely understand just being caught off guard on first listen. Its very different from what you go in expecting, especially trying to keep a distance on spoilers. Like other people have said, I think the general read on it is it being satirically narcissistic. I've been enjoying the stages and the b sides are phenomenal, shocker, I know. They're definitely going to another level with the concept in this era, which is saying something for deukae.
Yes, "OOTD" is a new musical side of them. And no, especially check out the B-sides “Rising” (currently without official MV) and “Shatter” (featuring on the official DC channel). And yes, they have become more experimental. And that's a good thing, because that means further development. And I love it, and this album and the 7 Ladies.
I wonder if it's because Leez isn't working with their sounds anymore? It's definitely different, but I don't mind it. The ladies look great as always.

Plus all the bruises on Dongie’s legs when she’s in the pink dress.. shows there’s always something going on outside of the beautiful frame.
the main signifiers of this that I see are "photoshop" and "ready.. action".

They are all about social commentary, I adore them. Thank you for the great reaction

As far as I know, it's gonna be a two parter this time.
@@Friedensp4nzerWe are getting a second part to this? I thought it was only one! Thank god!!!
@@Onlyprestons for what I understand the next part is the heroes pov (this is the villain pov)
