      @@liamjohnstone1062 We had pro wrestling for 80 years at that point. It’s possible WWE doesn’t become the worldwide leader. But it was the time of major acquisitions. Someone would have taken control of a really popular product.
      We’d still have Ric Flair, Sting, Macho Man, Andre, Bret Hart, Rocky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, Sean Michaels, etc., wrestling would be different, but we would still have wrestling.

      I don't know if he's talking about their King of the Ring match in 2002 but I just watched that match yesterday and Kurt legit cut a promo backstage at KotR before the match laying into the interviewer for saying that people were saying that this is a fight between two real American heroes.
      It looked sort of like a shoot promo but I think it was more of a Kayfabe breaking promo because he said that he was the one who legit won an Olympic medal for his country, meanwhile he said that Hulk Hogan is an American Hero because Vince told him he was. If Vince had told him to be a Zoo keeper Hogan would be a zoo keeper today. It really surprised me for a promo in that day and age where Kayfabe was faithfully kept, Kurt was giving a little peek behind the curtain.

      That's the saddest part about the whole thing. This coming from a guy who loved the Hulkster as a kid. The character is still one of the best ever and what he did for the business in terms of popularity can't be forgotten. But the man, the human being underneath it all is just such a piece of shit. I recently listened to an interview where he spoke about the Screwjob where literally every detail was wrong almost to the participants lol. The only thing he got right was that it happened. Just everything you'd never want your kid to be.

      Back in the day Jesse Ventura tried to get the wrestlers together and unionize. Jesse had a bunch of the top guys who were going to go with him.

      Hogan and Shawn are about the same backstage (that's why they were the top guys at the time) but Hogan has more pull due to time in WWE and friendship with Vince, that's why Shawn Michaels threw a flop fit (funny overselling) when he knew he would lose to Hogan. It is hilarious when egos clash.

      As a fan, don’t concern yourself with what goes on behind the scenes. In the ring is all that counts for us and Hogan was the man. The only reason You or I know any of this shit is because of social media…which is a fucking killjoy. I don’t care what actors are dicks in real life, I don’t care what ballplayers are rude, and I don’t care what wrestlers are like backstage.

      Go back and watch his debut match. Every little movement he does is so intense and purposeful, and the moves are all totally precise. He's a wrestling genius. And totally ok with making a total ass of himself. The opposite of Hogan
