A Fighter adding 2 levels of Barbarian is like trading a hand grenadine for an atomic bomb. Barbarian is such a great multiclass.
"Raging intensifies"
*Shirley Temple intensifies*
Just go 3 and get resistance to everything though...
For a lv20 character... Dip 3 levels into 6 Classes and the remaining 2 levels can go back to Fighter for a lv4 Feat or ASI option. Then throw the last level in another Class.
grenadine?
Offbeat outlaw: fighter is the sacred potato!
Me, an Irishman: guess it's time to play a fighter
When you play a Fighter, does that make you a Celtic Guardian?😂
Ancestral Guardian anyone?
"Monk is bad for multiclass with fighter"
Meanwhile, Kensei monk: "Notice me! Notice me!"
That's what I was thinking. It's still probably the worst Fighter Multiclass, but it's not necessarily terrible and it's a really cool concept. Especially since it gives you bonus actions when you're a class that doesn't traditionally use them.
I guess since I haven't seen it
Artificer: cilantro. Some hate it, some love it
Barbarian: sugar. Extremely strong, but very much a main part when you use it
Bard: salt. Everything can use it, and it pairs perfectly with some things
Cleric: beef. Great on its own, a good part of anything, but just doesn't fit with specific things
Druid: tomatoes. They're good with a lot, but I don't want them with my rice
Fighter: Potatoes
Monk: Energy drinks. An ungodly mix of sugar and caffeine.
Paladin: cheese. It's good with a lot, but not everything
Ranger: milk. Some love it, some hate it, but it's a sleeper part of the dish
Rogue: water. As good and useful as it is boring.
Sorcerer: bread. Can be great, but has problems with certain other ingredients
Warlock: peppers. Adds some kick to a lot of things
Wizard: Cayenne pepper. Good with a lot, but suffers on some specifics
I see that the best food is with the best class. Interpret this any way you want
@@reptiliankeyyeah cheese is great
I love your outlook on multi classing. Most people are afraid to multi class at all
My biggest problem with multiclassing is missing milestones. For the builds here he assumed you are level 20 and basically always had 11 levels in fighter. If your campaign ends at like level 13 though you probably won't want to multiclass till level 12 because of the extra attack. Multiclassing imao can easily go wrong without a lot of planning and the first step is knowing what your end level is(which can majorly change the usefulness of combinations). But also if you dip too early you can fall behind the rest of the party for quite a while.
@@jaketron101 this is a good analysis, while these tier lists are using a lot of final level assumptions, being 5 fighter 4 anything else will service your build well throughout more moderate leveled campaigns. Planning is a very important part of power building, but I find it’s always worth it when planned properly
@@jaketron101 a lot of classes get their best abilities at lvl 6 and some get a lot of cool stuff at lvls 1-2.
@@OffbeatOutlaw except wizard. Why would you honestly multiclass on wizard when it already has everything?
@@demonderpz7937 to get the one thing it’s missing. Above 5 hit points.
"Monk is monster energy drink" is also very fitting to the feral energy of a Monk player finally getting to use their class features
Barbarian/Monk?
@@nihilis3288 terrible multiclass unfortunately
@@GoblinLord agree
@@GoblinLord maybe like one level for rage but that's it.
@@arturogasca760 doesn't rage only apply to STR based attacks where monks (usually) really on DEX for their strikes.
Need Immersion loves his power builds, and you two have polar opposite energy levels so I think I’d be a pretty funny colab
I’d love to see a crossover between those two!
Another great optimization / powerbuilding channel is Treantmonk's Temple, his builds tend to be more themed as opposed to just maximizing one particular thing but he's definitely more mechanics-first than a lot of other channels out there.
I'm just glad artificer was put in a higher spot then last time.
i'm really curious about how you would build a multi-class monk, with the classes you want of course.
He has talked about monks in an earlier video. ua-cam.com/video/-P8_1Oz17cM/v-deo.html
1 level monk rest other classes
Already did one a while ago 😎
I had great time with a high wisdom Forest Gnome Moon Druid(2), Monk (Open Hand)12 with mobile and toughness feats, drop kicking someone as a squirrel(usually a Rocktupus or Giant Spider) with 4d8++ and stunning strikes is great, then running away and extra 28 hit points with whatever shape I am in. So versatile
Archer. Ranger (Hunter)5 , Rogue (Scout) 3, Monk (Kensei). It can, at 14th level) regularly put out 3D8+5D6+1d4+2x(bonus) around at range with insane maneuverability.
D4: Dnd deep dive does some optimized builds that are pretty good
Treantmonk too
Treantmonk is Obi-wan to D4's Chewbacca. Offbeat obviously being Han.
Offbeat: Fighters can even beat wizards at single target damage!
Wizards with gate showing people into volcanoes with no save: Am I a joke to you?
at that point it is just about initiative
Also heavily depends on environment, also, fun thing - Dms can just add a DC. 🤷♂️
@@zimtwiers9726 which some wizard subclasses can boost
I think cleric so be S mostly because of some of the spells like spirit Guardians spirit weapon and other spells like them that give you more damage for just being close to a enemy or at most your bonus action
I’m glad there’s videos like these, always trying to make new characters and your videos help a lot to get an idea on character builds
0:28 Honestly a powerbuild competition sounds awesome. Whoever has the more powerful/broken build wins
pretty sure Treantmonk settled this with his shepherd druid build.
I'd love to see a deep dive into the sorcerer build and how much damage it can actually do
Yes! I’ve been looking forward to this for so long I love your tier lists!!!
I recently worked out a spreadsheet comparing the base fighter, each subclass , each main weapon option, using all resources optimally, across an average adventuring day, for each level up to 11. Very insightful! Then I did fiendlock and it (most levels) blew it all away as long as most fights don’t have just one enemy
Love the videos man! As a fighter main, I enjoyed this. Here's an idea for a series of videos; class teir lists based on the tiers of play. I think it would be interesting to see how the power level of each class compares to each other of the course of a 1-20 adventure. Not to mention, level 20 characters are quite rare and most of the game is spent at 11 and below. Keep up the good work Outlaw!
Well if your curious about another powerbuild channel, their not exactly powerbuild, but moreso they try to make characters as close to certain tv characters, so close enough since they can be really strong sometimes lol, its Tulok the Barbarian.
Gotta love Tulok
Gotta love tulok pt 2
Question: What are your thoughts on the other Ranger subclasses? Such as hunter, swarm keeper, and beast master.
Okay, thing about Monk Multiclasses, is that they are unquestionably non-viable for power-builds, however, +10ft movement bonus and adding your wisdom mod to your AC, plus bonus action unarmed strike, are pretty solid benefits for level 1 (edit: movement bonus is at lvl 2). Do they beat any of the other martial classes for damage and raw power? No. Your best Multiclass into Monk is as a non-martial class, that can acclimate to the different ability score requirements.
This is the best defence of monks I’ve seen. Finally one that isn’t predicated on DPS
@@OffbeatOutlaw Oh my! Thank you very much. I enjoy Monks conceptually a lot, so finding out where they fit can be a real thought experiment. Wackiest options I've found are Bladesinger/Monk for insane mobility and high AC as low as level 3, and Druid, since, when you think about it, all animals use unarmed strikes. Which means kung fu wolf murdering bandits (depending on the DM's ruling, because Wild Shape says "Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast" which is somewhat vague to me regarding martial arts). Also, not all Ki abilities count as spells, which is something even wackier to think about in the context of Wild Shape and multiclassing. Not meaning to ramble, just appreciate the response and my immediate instinct was to gush on this subject I've thought a lot about. I've been enjoying your content as well, including the reasonable Monk critiques, so I think I'll subscribe. Keep up the good work man.
my rankings for fighter multi
s/god: barb, cleric, pally, rogue, warlock
a: bard, ranger, wizard
b: druid
c: artificer
d: monk, sorcerer (as these two are both dependent on a set of points to do what their class wants aka ki and sorcery points)
11 fighter + 9 sorcerer goes super well I think you ranked it a lil too low as it’s damage output is near unmatched. Other than that I can see your rankings making sense, good analysis!
@@OffbeatOutlaw I do agree with you that you can build a strong character with sorcerer and fighter i just disagree with it being overally a good multi for fighter in terms of the video eldritch knight + sorcerer. Eldritch knight is an intel class and has low amount of spell slots. Sorcerer main trait is meta magic so on a multi i just dont see it being overally that good for a fighter (eldritch knight) to mutli when different spell casters offer better spells or at least more uses. I should of but it either b or c in almost any other case i just feel that dependency on sorcery points (just like ki) lowers it to not really being functional for a heavy focus as you have to go more in terms of building sorcerer levels to be stable and not like pally where your mostly novaing 1 turn only. The only reason i even put pally as god tier is more smite spells, channel divinity and auras which make them highly powerful without building a nova boss killer.
low encounter powerbuilding a Sorighter is godtier, sustainable multi encounter powerbuilding its b or c at around lvl 10+ any lower and your suffering from lack of spells, spell slots, and sorcery points
@@OffbeatOutlaw in the video you made the mistake of claiming that a sorcerer-fighter could triple cast fireball in a single turn. Fireball is an AOE that does not fulfill the conditions required for twin spell metamagic. Additionally, most AOE damage spells do not double damage when overlapped (RIP spirit guardians) so three fireballs is only really useful if you’re completely surrounded by low HP mooks...
@@alexandrudorries3307 quickened spell+ action surge was the ruling I was using. However I now am of the opinion that only 2 fireballs can be cast per turn via action surge
You have earned my subscription by being the first D&D UA-camr to recognize how amazing the spellsinger multi attack is. It's so God damn strong and flexible, sure you can booming blade people in the face but that's smooth brain. Sapping sting can knock a target prone to get advantage on the rest of your onslaught, mind sliver before a battle master maneuver to ensure success, make blade ward into a pseudo rage if you get into a sticky situation without eating your whole turn, minor illusion to give you temporary cover for ranged fighters, mold earth for actual cover, Robinhood an arrow into a firebolt, I forget if guidance is on the wizard list or not but you can dip to get it if you don't but you can use it to give yourself a free d4 to a grapple or shove in the same turn! It's The Luffy of multi attacks, so flexible.
Yoo the Persona Background music really sets the mood, Gotta love that Behind the mask
seeing this now... would it be worth it to dip into fighter for like 3 levels to get eldritch knight for shield? asking for a forge domain
I'm playing as a fighter in my first ever campaign, so this video is a godsend.
The only thing I would say for monk MC is that it can add tankiness to fighter if using BA for patient defense (dodge) to get disadvantage to be hit and adv on dex saves. Does use Ki, so not great, but I would place it as C. Stunning strike could be useful as well, but not reliable if not heavily spec'd for it.
Having a good time watching this video, but dang...something about the music is making me want to go steal some hearts!
Just gonna make a bet about fighter-sorcerer and fighter-Paladin, these will be top picks
I'm a new player and hearing that Fighters are actually pog is great. I'm honestly super glad to find this.
my favorite build is always echo knight/rune knight partnered with sorcerer (any will do, but favor draconic bloodline and divine soul) my last build was a draconic bloodline (8 levels), warlock (the titan, homebrew, 1 level) and 11 levels rune knight. it was so much fun.
Hey what would be a good multiclass with a Gunslinger Fighter in Plate?
Thoughts on the Bard-Barian? Personally one of my favorite class combos especially if I'm allowed to play as 2 seperate characters that act as one (think of ice climbers from smash bros ultimate) mostly not legal in game but pretty fun if allowed
Following straight 5e/ not homebrewing I've struggled finding the balance and can easily fall behind the rest of the party.
Im thinking about multiclassing with Moin Druid. I have No Idea how to do though. I mostly want it for Story value, but also want it to be useful :/ do you have any Tips or ideas?
Outlaw: Quivering Palm isn't valid
Me: Stunning Strike tho
On DDO my warforged sorcerer with quicken reconstruct was incredibly fun for self sufficiency! I can see a fighter 2 / warlock 2 / sorc being a fun build with the right stats
Is that an OST from “legend of dragoon” in there around 11:30-11:45? Or am I just hearing things
i did build a multiclassed fighter druid.
1st lvl in fighter for the proficiencies, 2 levels in spore druid, then take the magic initiate feat to grab hex (or alternatively, one level in hexblade warlock). the rest of your levels in fighter. now all of your hits do 2 extra d6 necrotic. also gave him pole arm master for the bonus action attack and the double the chance of being able to use my reaction. havent gotten to use him yet, but i feel like it just takes what the fighter does really well, single target damage, and multiplies it
I know this question may have been asked alot but if my fighter is Unarmed attacker. Would monk be better than Barbarian? Or is Barb better than monk still
I have a question. In your this list what is the minimum level for a fighter to multi class?
Hey good is a Kensai Monk Samurai Fighter multiclass?
When he eventually gets to the rogue multi class I think paladin and barbarian would be god tier with paladin supplying heavy damage with smite added on to sneak attack and barbarian can use reckless attack to get sneak attack every turn if there is no ally to help. Also if you do samurai fighter with rogue is also sneak each turns
Min/Max Munchking does some pretty fun power builds. Also after that rant on monk/fighter multiclasses, I can't wait to be ripped a new one if you review my power build submission 😅😅😅
Moon Illusions is great channel for these kinds of topics and is very underrated
Im runnin a fighter/warlock with undead/pact of the tome (BoAS) and duelist/eldritch knight. Definitely not the most "power built" stats at lower levels but gives you INSANE versatility/utility. You can have up to 6 cantrips and 7 or 8 spells by level 6 (3 in each) (short rest to replenish limited spell slots) combined with the form of dread can make some funny interactions since you have the potential to cause fear as well as have spells/cantrips that cause damage if the enemy moves. And thats before accounting for action surge plus the buffs FoD give you. So ba form of dread (cause fear) into booming blade 2x into action surge eldritch blast with or without agonizing blast or 2x melee attacks. Then next turn you can grasp of hadar them towards you 10 feet. Odds are being feared they move at least 5 feet from you and take the extra damage you can repeat (minus the action surge). Combine that with something like chill touch for a necro boss or big undead creature and you can see how the damage could stack (and stop boss from healing)
But outside of that you also end up with things like identify and other "utility" spells within the BoAS as rituals to go over any loot or artifacts found after your boss fight/dungeon escape. Combine that with the fact that the BoAS gives you the ability to add ritual spells in for cost/time/finding them on scrolls, books, or (if the dm allows) from someone proficient in arcana who is willing to teach you it. Then if you can get ceremony into your spell book you can not only marry people but also cast spells to not allow dead creatures to be brought back to life for 7 days.
Can you tell im in a zombie/necro heavy campaign?? Also let me know if i missed any cool combos. Keep up the sick videos!
Great Vid! Next campaign we're starting at lvl 7, i'm going Lvl 6 Echo Kinght and lvl 1 Barbarian. Definitely once we lvl again i'd take Barbarian Lvl 2 for Reckless Attack, after that not sure. Probably best to take Barbarian Lvl 3 to get its subclass (not sure which one though), then Lvl 4 Barb for the ability score/feat.
Although Echo Knight with some Rogue could work, Sneak Attack is a nice feature.
I'm currently running a Fighterlock (Not Eldrich Knight) I'm a lv 5: 18(STR) 10(int) 12(dex) 11(wis) 13(con) and 16(Cha) Any advice for this dragonborn? I've been kinda lost on him and as you can see I rolled low on his stats. Currently 3-2
Playing a 5th lvl Eldritch Knight/ Twilight Cleric now. So much fun dropping a weapon to switch between melee and range then summoning the weapon back later. Or surprising a new party member with a firebolt from the guy who healed them earlier. 300 feet of darkvision with two attacks (possibly four with action surge) from a bow at near max range. So many options...
Running a Paladin who is dipping into fighter. I did so for the tanking and the added frontline damage.
Fighter is a great class for any build, I agree. 2 levels you get so much that is useful forever.
Rangers one of my favorite classes. As for multiclassing with fighter, theres one really fun build I have using Horizon Walker Ranger, Cavalier fighter, Assassin Rogue, and war domain cleric for a boy blinking around the battlefield, striking multiple enemies for (potentially) safe crits, and marking an opponent to have disadvantage attacking anybody other than you before warping away and turning a fight into a benny hill chase scene. Is it weird and awkward having 4 classes on a build? A bit. But is it fun? Absolutely XD
fun fact: there was an actual person in history who was bassically a fighter/bard multiclass. during world war 2 he ran into the battle field armed with one of three things, a longsword, a longbow, and bag pipes. and the guy bloody dominated
Here's a really fun Barbarian fighter multiclass I'm super excited to use:Ancestor warrior.
Taking Echo knight and ancestor barb you can style it like a warrior being infused with the power of dead souls, the echo being a hardlight manifestation of this.
While maybe not the most min maxed, it's pretty cool and still pretty good.
A multiclass I like is the Eldritch Barrage class.
2 Fighter-3Warlock-15 Sorcerer
First level in fighter for proficiencies, obviously.
Hexblade warlock because duh.
All the rest in sorcerer can be whatever we don't care about it for anything but metamagic.
First turn : Hex + Hexblade Curse.
Every turn after that : Eldritch blast as action, and quicken spell to eldritch blast AGAIN as bonus action.
8 Eldritch Blasts with a 19-20 crit range, +11 to damage thanks to Hexblade Curse and the invocation that lets us add charisma to eldritch blast, for a total of 8d10+88. Yes, that's a flat 88 damage. In a turn. If you hit, but obviously you will because you've got at least a +11 to hit, and probably a number of magical items that increase your attack role value since you're level 20 so let's say +13, and surely u got some friends to help you hit. Get in melee with crossbow master and get advantage from flanking !
And of course, let's not forget our 8d6 damage bonus from Hex !
So a total of 8d10+88+8d6. Accounting for our 10% crit rate, and advantage with Crosspow expert, we should be getting 2 crits in there. Let's say one, just to be fair. So 9d10+9d6+88.
And then ? ACTION SURGE, BABY ! ANOTHER 4d10+4d6+44 !
And the great thing about that, the reason we're taking all those level in Sorcerer ?
WE CAN DO THAT CONSISTENTLY.
AT A RANGE OF 120FT.
I'd love to see your recommendation for a monk subclass if you have one
Where would you put blood hunter on this list? The first serious character I used was a lvl 10 blood hunter/warlock multi class and I feel like that class gets left out of videos like this
I mean, it's not an official class. But I would say a tier. Fighter and BH both use strength or Dex, but BH needs intelligence or wisdom, and there's just nothing special there for them. Personally, I think it's god tier with eldritch knight or battle master and blade singer wizard, but some dms only allow 2 classes
But I would rank it high for bladesinger
only class i think monk would work together is rogue. take shadow monk and assassin rogue and you can get behind people and back stab
If you go Kensi monk with fighter you can use your flurry of blows with fighter extra attack allowing you to attack a maximum of 8 times at level 8 with a long sword
Favorite power building channels would be D4: D&D Deep Dive and Treantmonk, would be cool to see some collab action there
theres tulock the barbarian he does muticlassing to do your favorite fictional character in dnd
I would love to see that happen
About the Wizard, it also pairs nicely with Eldritch Knight because of the same spell casting stat so it reduces the MAD aspect of multi classing a bit.
This, he's put others higher for specific subclasses he should have done so here
D4 dnd deep dive is a great optimization channel. Along with treantmonk
I'm about to start a new game as a war wizard multiclassed with psi warrior fighter. The combination is looking like it will be fun. Can't wait to find out.
Min/Max munchking is a guy who makes powerbuilds! Anyway, good video!
Optimisation channels?
Treantmonk and D&D Optimized are my favorites besides you Outlaw.
My favorite fighter multiclass that i have done recently is Bladesinging Wizard with Echo Knight Fighter. So much mobility and very solid AC.
is their a Build for "I'm proficent in that" for a build that basically is proficent in all the skills I've gotten 14 before but I lost the character and now I cant get it work anymore
There is
Im doing a mainly warlock fighter build rn thats a dragonborn. Working towards being able to minigun the eldritch blast
Happy to see the sorcerer get some recognition
If you were an eldritch knight bladesinger, and you have war magic, could you make your attack, make your cantrip attack, then make your bonus action attack from war magic?
Technically no as the blade singer works off of your character taking the attack action whereas the eldritch knight works off taking your action to cast a spell. I would allow it at my table cuz it’s cool but otherwise no
Could someone explain the fighter/bard to me more? I get that expertise and bardic inspiration are great features but they don't really synergize with fighter as much as I feel a cleric would. What spells or class features do bards have that make them deal more damage than a fighter/cleric?
College of swords bard with blade flourish, creation for constant flanking, there’s a lot there
@@OffbeatOutlaw Those are alright, and I suppose defensive flourish can increase your AC too. But are those really better than access to divine strike, spiritual weapon(or war cleric's war priest), and especially spirit guardians?
@@jaketron101 all of that coupled with expertise, Jack of all trades, and a variety of other support spells (haste being one of them) it all coupled together allows ALL of the bards kit to synergize. Whereas Cleric requires a little more work to be built around it. Like I said, it’s a much of a muchness, both are excellent as cleric is A tier. Bard just all around works better for a variety of different play styles, while cleric I felt required a more centralized build. All the same, both are great, but I found bard performed better overall than the cleric
Im curious what you think about specifically the battle master fighter + open hand monk. It may not be the most dps heavy character but its got some really good control.
The good control abilities of monk come at level 5 namely stunning strike, meaning you’ll be doubling up on extra attacks accidentally. On top of that you’ll be potentially missing out on more battle master techniques that would effectively allow you do the same stuff as a monk. We also can’t ignore the drop in DPR.
I personally think it’s a little underwhelming. However, don’t let me stop you from having fun!
I want to try a fighter multi class with bard college of swords. How many levels do you recommend for each class?
Depends on playstyle, if you want more melee focus then do at least 11 in fighter. If you want to focus on being a caster with a touch of melee you don’t need more than 4 levels in fighter
@@OffbeatOutlaw It’s a melee focused one and thank you!
@@OXIV nice! Make sure to take shadow blade as a spell at some point and go crazy
I’m currently in a low level Percy Jackson campaign and I’m playing a fighter sorcerer, child of Poseidon and it’s quite fun.
Starting dungeon of mad mage tonight. I'm taking a halfling fighter/bard. He's a beat boxer who doesn't know how to play instruments. College of swords is the only way to truly make it work. I'm loving what I see on paper for him. Hopefully it goes well.
I'm not sure if you will find this comment. I love your videos, I also love the addition of the music in your videos. a comment I have about the music in the video, personally music with lyrics subtract a good bit from the video, because the lyrics are distracting. A suggestion I have would to find some royalty free chill hop or chill music.
what about ranged fighters? im curious on your thoughts about the ranged options
All types were considered when ranking.
Multiclassing Wildfire Druid gives you a great use of your bonus action, basically giving you a free teleport spell that damages. Ya, it ain't as tanky, but the mobility it provides is insane. Plus, the fire damage spells are a great bonus.
What do you think about Sorcerer multi-classing?
As far as artificer goes, IMO it depends on the subclasses. Battlesmith and armorer are best for psionic warrior and eldritch knight, making them fully intelligence based, without having to worry for other attributes.
I have actually found a use for the Champion subclass - an Elven Archer, with Elven Accuracy, Sharpshooter, Crossbow Expert, Piercer, and a friend who loves starting combat with Faerie Fire to give you ranged advantage. With Bracers of Archery, +3 bow, and +3 arrows, that's an Alpha Strike with a 37% chance to crit per hit (assuming the target ends up glowy), eight attacks, and a potential average damage of roughly 250 damage / maximum 376, and a normal round of an average of 125 / maximum 188 - and all of this from up to 600 feet away, or at point blank with no disad. And those averages don't count the free 1d8 reroll per round.
Oh, and one level of Rogue can be a great non-combat useful one level dip. Did that with an Eldritch Knight once to end up with a gish with the highest Arcana skill in the party. :D
Artificers can be armor "This is incredibly useful for Dex based fighter so they can use platemail to fix their pitiful AC..." Medium or light armor can get you AC of 17, Platemail provides AC of 18. So taking 3 levels in a class to get 1 more AC and disadvantage on stealth. So many other ways to get 1 more AC.
3rd level Battle Master fighter and 17 wizard abjuration school while getting the tough feat somewhere in there literally makes you god. I love playing this kind of class everywhere
Treantmonk and D&D Deep Dive are to great optimization channels I would check out. They actually did a recent collaboration together!
Wont let my fully join your discord says channel verification is too high
This was JUST SO GOOD 😂
Can you make a video on multi classing an artificer
I’m running a Samurai fighter and adding a little hexblade and damn it’s so good
When it comes to the Monk, I would say a Monk with a sprinkle of Fighter. But a Fighter going Monk is meh especially with Tasha's adding in the unarmed fighting feat.
For dnd youtubers who do powerbuilds, i do character builds and in general dnd topics, I think my next video is going to be a character that is powerbuilt to have frequent critical hits (spoiler its uncommon to not get a critical hit at least twice per session if you use this build) if you wanna see it, I'll release it probably this or next saturday
I found that Monk mixed pretty ok with the fighter if you take echo knight and the way of the astral self on a bug bear. 15 ft reach, extra attacks, force damage, and flurry of blows. All of this with having a additional attack from your echo with having easy mobility between these two classes. It's not the biggest slobber knocker sure, but it has lots of options, easy ways to get around, ways to stealth, and options for mitigating damage ensuring you stay in the fight.
Problem is, he doesn't use Critical Role content, since its unofficial, and Echo Knight is Critical Role.
@@SilverDungeoneer ah didn't know that. I don't pay attention to critical role.
What I picture: "I activate pot of greed which lets me draw 2 quivering palms"
Thread necromancy! What wizard tradition do you pair a fighter with? Bladesinger? Sure. But you know what’s an absolute monster? Slap some war wizard on your eldritch knight. Arcane Deflection ftw, because after Ftr 7 you’re using the war magic feature to do booming blade coupled with a bonus action attack, and that’s a cantrip. Saves you those spell slots you’d be burning on Shield or Absorb Elements. Tactical Wit? Yes pls I’ll go first so I can light up my enemy w an action surge. The ideal split is 10/10, probably going Ftr7->Wiz5->Ftr10->Wiz 10. Get war magic online ASAP, then grab wizard for utility spells, better progression and your subclass abilities (and lvl 3 spells), then head on up to Ftr 10 for eldritch strike (you become a nasty nasty enemy when you use your action aurge to cut four baddies, then next round drop SLOW on them), and then take 5 more levels of wizard, ending with Durable Magic - now you’ve got concentration going on somethint (upcast Shadowblade?) you’re doing your fun Booming Blade shit, you take Mobile so you can peace out with impunity, and the whole time you’re rolling with stupid AC and saves courtesy of your concentration. Or use Summon Shadow Spawn and play buddy cop action movie on your enemies :)
I have and Eldritch Knight that I plan to multiclass into an Abjuration Wizard. (Bladesinger was an option but it didn't really make sense for her build. So I put it on my Rogue in a different campaign.
Agree: Barbarian, Rogue Cleric, Paladin, Sorcerer, Artificer, Monk
Disagree: Warlock, Bard, Wizard, Druid
On the ones I disagree with:
Warlock and Bard should be dropped a tier to A tier. Apart from requiring a MAD build (13+ Charisma score), the skills/abilities gained are often offset by either the PC's low ability score (charisma), or a lack of damage-dealing options.
In the case of the Warlock, the most that a player could get from Hexblade Warlock would be Hexblade's Curse, their choice of two spells (especially from among Hex, Hellish Rebuke, and Armor of Agathys), and Eldritch Blast. But in this specific instance, Eldritch Blast is nigh useless due to their generally low Charisma score (usually 13 to 14, which isn't much).
For the Bard, having Bardic Inspiration and extra skills (for College of Lore) is nice and all, but neither ability per sé increases the damage output of the PC in question. (At least directly.) Secondarily, Vicious Mockery is a save-or-suck spell which becomes useless as soon as high tier 2/low tier 3 play. Finally, College of Swords/Valor doesn't add much to the damage output compared to what the Fighter can actually do already on its own, depending on the Fighter subclass.
Druid should be in D Tier (Monk Tier), for a few reasons:
A. Most DM's that I have played with (to include A.L. legal games) have made access to "natural armor" nigh improbable to either buy and/or make oneself. Without DM intervention, the PC has to rely on Wild Shape for Armor, thereby taking away their ability to both tank and defend oneself.
B. Further, Wild Shape, while good for recon, tends to interfere with normal weapon attacks during combat.
C. It's a MAD character.
Finally for Wizard, I'd bump it to God Tier just on the strength of the Divination and Chronurgy Wizard subclasses alone. Find Familiar also aids with granting advantage via the Owl's flyby ability. Finally, spells like Shield and Silvery Barbs increase the defensive capacity of the Fighter.
"I don't know if there are any other power building channels other than me" d4 network deep dive series, but I will say you probably wouldn't be compatible, he focuses on a broad build like dps or tank with a certain class like hexblade dps and his builds are well rounded where as you hyper focus and therefore everything else takes a hit
I disagree on fighter having to be a Frontline fighter. You can make an AMAZING archer/arbalist fighter
From the 3.5 monk (always a good option for almost anything) to now its quite the change haha.
response to 22:01 Pair it with the necromancer wizard and the battle master fighter and you get what is essentially a zombie general able to take spells and maneuvers that aid his troops and help him out like "bait and switch" or "commanding strike". additionally you can take spells like "phantom steed" "vampiric touch" and "unseen servant" "sapping sting" "toll of the dead" to enhance the theming of "leader of undead soldiers and army" fanstasy even better. I came up with this idea after watching this video a long time ago and honestly i think its a great combo
Someone appreciating the Eldritch Knight Sorcerer combination as a viable pick, playing one right now, and she is tough as nails.
