The concept art for the final boss of this game originally actually would've been more interesting than the current final boss. Shame that they scrapped that original idea.
Am I the only one that thinks that the final other forms of Xemnas look badass as hell?! o_O
3 years late but they look amazing and wish they re-added them in Final Mix for the PS4 version, I don't think the hardware for the PS3 would handle it even though I used to play the PS systems a crap ton.
Bruh I like the old Xemnas fights better than the new one, because they look BADASS.

There was data for toy story in kh1. The reason why it took them so long to add toy story was because that's how long it took to convince disney to add anything related to pixar.

The Behemoth was scraped in the 1000 Heartless due to technical limitations.
Actually the battle was a 1000 Nobodies its just that some heartless was used with in that battle.
George Stovall I loved this every since the first kingdom hearts even though i did not have enough money to get it then but i eventually got it and every since then i been collecting the games i even bought systems just to play that one game.

i'm pretty sure that the two keyblades were made for hit testing. It even lies in the name "detection saber" it was made to test hits from long keyblades and the edge of ultima to test hits from short keyblades. I don't know about the latter's name though, since it has nothing to do with testing. perhaps it really was meant to be developed into the ultima weapon later. this shows that the ultimaweapon might have been the first weapon the team made.
also, the texture shows as well, that it was likely just testkeyblades.
That design at 1:34 actually looks freaking awesome Imo.
It is what they're using for Re:Coded right now, and in KH1.. I think it is also in Memories.
Toy Story confirmed for Kingdom Hearts III
Judging off of the two screenshots for the Wyvern and Behemoth, it seems as if the Behemoth was going to only appear in the 1000 heartless battle, being an ending boss (them being excluded from the main 1000) and the wyverns coming down every once in a while to spice things up a bit, with the remaining wyverns coming down at the end with the two behemoths. The wyverns, I assume, were gonna be normal heartless that you could encounter at random, mainly appearing in hollow bastion.
The Behemoths were removed due to frame rate issues, and also, you can still summon Woody and Buzz. However, if you try to, the game will crash

Exactly my thought. I mean, 1 000 AI enemies at once, sounds like it's gonna need a powerful console... at that time at least. Or alot of RAM if it was on the PC
ARWINGx1 Only a few Heartless were rendered at the same time in the battle. The others were just moving images.

I am... I am freaked out about them in rainbow textures.
I've always had some irrational fear about this kind of thing, especially with all that empty space behind them.
And now the creepiness factor went up by about 1000% :P
I hated the hollow bastion from Kingdom Hearts 1. Don't get me wrong, I loved the theme, looks, and soundtrack but it was like traveling through a labyrinth. Thank GOD we didn't have the old Hollow Bastion and got Radiant Garden!

The only thing that made Hollow Bastion unbearable for me was the Wyvern and Small Elemental heartless that appears in an area where you'll easily fall off to the bottom of Hollow Bastion when fighting them and can't access a switch to get to the next area because there are still enemies around.
Funnily enough Hollow Bastion was probably my favorite world because it didn't really annoy me much and was pretty cool. Other world either annoyed me more than i'd like, or just weren't cool enough.
***** you can get through hollow bastion on proud mode in 30 minutes or less as well...

The Wayvern heartless is actually a BOSS in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS.
Your channel is amazing. I envy you. I tried to make my own Kingdom Hearts channel a few years ago called KingdomHeartsVEVO but UA-cam took it down. Glad to see a youthful, intelligent, true Kingdom Hearts fan got to make their passion into a successful UA-cam channel. You have my subscription forever.
The reason buzz and woody are not in the game is because Pixar and disney we're disputing before the merger. Disney owns the first two toy story films and a bugs life outright and could do what they wanted but Pixar was mulling over leaving and they were excluded due to the fight because disney was trying to convince them to stay and buy them so they were removed so as to keep the relationship and allow the merger to go through

On the topic of original Hollow Bastion appearing in the E3 trailer, I doubt it actually would have been in the final game. It's far more likely that they just hadn't finished designing all the areas of Hollow Bastion yet, so they reused assets they already had available for the sake of throwing a trailer together
So, if you read the descriptions on Edge of Ultima and Detection Saber, it's clear they are debug weapons for testing collision. Hence the name "Detection Saber." Reusing the KHI Ultima Weapon model is because it's something on-hand that can be used very easily.
Those other Xemnas forms are terrifying
Edge of Ultima and Detection Saber were tests for the Ultima Weapon's palette

The Detection Saber and Edge of Ultima are just a recolored versions of the Ultima Weapon from Kingdom Hearts 1.

They (the behemoths and wyverns) were scrapped from the 1000 heartless battle because the hardware couldn't handle having 2 behemoths and all the flying enemies at the same time.

3:38 Yeah, no, that's a Dustflier buddy(358/2 Days). Wyverns are smaller and a lot less threatening.
It's cool how they have most of these idea's scraped. it be awesome if we could of seen the old hollow bastion with a new look to radiant garden.
I would LOVE to see the Aeons From Final Fantasy X/X-2 as bosses/summons in any future games! :D
Yeah, if the original development team was still making the games, we probably would have seen them in one of the past games, but based on the development team who ARE making them now, they wouldn't shake two shits at that idea.

the dragon like heartless you mentioned is in 358/2 days incase any KH fans want to fight a heartless boss with a lot of health and power, I just want to let them know to get 358/2 days for the DS, it is the hardest boss in the game and suppose to be located at the top of twilight town when u have to fight 6 giant heartless (or 7-8 if you want to do extra work and challenge yourself) anyways good job on the kh research and keep at it for the next one they release is the future for us!
How could you forget destiny islands and the room in castle oblivion with the organization thrones originally going to be playable areas?
i think that the concept art for the last 2 forms of xemnas should b brought back for kingdom hearts 3 cuz it would kind of make sense if it ended with xemnas turning everything to darkness

Omg, fanboy feels from over 10 years ago returned when I saw the Kingdom Hearts 2 trailer (where Sora fights Neoshadows in Hollow Bastion and jumps and prepares to strike a hooded XIII-member). I had TOTALLY forgotten this piece of beauty

She was kinda on your side in the game. She held off the heartless while you defeat xemnas. She wanted him gone first then later move onto sora I guess

Missed Donald and Goofy's Detection weapons. They're huge in game and are simply missing textures. They also say they don't do damage in their description.
Not sure here but you think that maybe possibly maybe there was some sort of world/minigame/enemy that you needed these for?
Also I mean the Ultima weapon is pretty shit so they did a pretty bad job at wanting to make it the strongest keyblade. If they wanted to do that they should have given it something like Combo Boost and Air Combo Boost at the same time, not a measly 20% MP recharge rate.
one thing I can think of about removing the behemoth heartless on the thousand heartless battle might because it made the battle harder than they wanted.

The thing that got me me pissed off the most about this is woody and buzz didn't get included which if that was it I would of been ok because didn't care much , and actually not really for a toy story world, but what gets me mad is instead of getting them as summons we got freaking chicken little from that movie everyone hates.

Pixar should have allowed them the rights because they would have bad a new money printer in the game then when KH3 comes if it would have become a world the IT PRINTS MONEY
chicken little was a publicity stunt for the movie because it had just came out before the game
and to the people in the comments, there were issues between Disney and Disney-Pixar and they just got cleared up which means there probably will be a toy story world in kingdom hearts 3

The reason for that was because back when KH2 was in development was before Disney owned Pixar. Disney didn't buy Pixar until 2006 - right after KH2's release.

what if Square and Disney add the scrapped models and ideas to KH3? Like the Jungle Book world, various Final Fantasy bosses, unused/untextured summons and weapons. Wouldn't that be cool? and time saving

The two unused bosses could have been fun than the ones we have now. Or we could have just added 4 bosses, the ones now, and the ones that were scrapped.

I'm actually a bit surprised that they didn't include the other keyblades in KH2 when in DDD, Unbound was much stronger than Ultima Weapon, so I guess they changed their mind

What is said at 5:30 is not 100% true. The Nightmare Before Christmas, the basis of Halloween Town, was released under Touchstone Pictures. However, Pixar is more of its own company than TP as the latter is really just a label used by Disney.

Technically fenir is stronger than the ultima weapon in strength
the wryvern in 358/2 days is the most powerful non official boss enemy in the game as the mission before Xion and i had to be lvl 78 with zero gear +++(ability mabobers) and the assist of my younger brother jet to beat it barely so hell yeah I'm glad it wasn't in KH2
thats not the same as the KH 1 wyvern, so no worries there. however, I agree with you, that was one hell of a fight. luckily, his moves were pretty easily to predict so you could dodge most of his attacks

What I want square enix to do is bring back the ultimate weapon from kh1 I didn't like the kh2 version because it looked more of a weapon sora would use if he was a member of the organization idk its just my opinion. I love the kh1 because it seemed more like a blade and the art work was unique. The same goes with goofy's save the king and Donalds save the queen ultimate weapons I miss the kh1 versions.
