Tammy, I suffer from depression and the first thing I do in the morning is go for a walk. I’m up to 6 miles a day but I started out slowly and now it’s a habit. It will start off your day in a healthy way and might help you stay on track.. just a recommendation. The important thing is that you get back on the horse and keep uploading consistently. That’s a big accomplishment in itself. I loved your little “Spice Girls” edit! Your voice is absolutely beautiful! ❤

Exactly a couple of years ago before I became crippled I lost 100 lbs and would go to the track 5 days a week . I follow macrobiotics I ate wakame miso soup 5 days a week ,seaweed helped me to lose a lot of weight.
U CANNOT have that poison in ure home ever ,sugar is a poison too much salt is dangerous it's all about yin and yang
The western diet is extreme yin, sugar , alcohol, drugs expansive energy . Extreme yang is constrictive energy like salt meat ,stress and pressure
Americans eat extreme yin and extreme yang that is the diet so they swing back and forth between those two extremes
If u are stressed and under pressure or had a lot of meat and salty foods ure body will demand balance from extreme yin which is sugar mostly or drugs or alcohol
Just don't play the extreme game I follow a Japanese diet we don't eat all that poison. Some grains some beans , cooked vegetables, some seaweed ,miso soup little bits of fruit
Macrobiotics is what got me to 125 lbs and away from some problems like migraines , and ulcers and such
I cannot walk at the track anymore but I still maintain 125 lbs
Also u need a hobby is food ure whole life because that is super boring get a hobby. Go to the bookstore the bookstore has a lot of secret books u will discover secret hobbies !!!!!!!
      Good luck

      Also we allowed some fish
Walking secluded is dangerous I study missing person cases in ure pursuit of health do not put ureself in danger I'm armed every time I go outside with a handgun ,maisse etc etc let someone know everyday ure location where u will be everry stop u intend to make and my god do not walk alone don't make ureself a target
Do I really need to explain to u all what it's like to talk with families who have lost someone they are missing think people think be safe first
Life is struggle and pain that's what the Fallen world is if u are not willing to struggle and fight why do u think u deserve a reward ?? Ure poison food was ure reward
I'm skinny cause I did the work I don't get to eat all that garbage but I get to be skinny

I am suffering from anxiety and depression. I noticed that walking is really calming! I seriously wish I would of done this much sooner. I also talk to random strangers (they don't know me, so the convo is genuine) and it has been very rewarding. I need that interaction with other humans.

Your singing always warms my heart. All this horrible pressure of building things up & then releasing it onto food is a part of your journey which is entirely heartbreaking Tammy, but also keep in mind that it does not define who you are. I love your playful side even after a bad day (this shows in your editing) & your ability to accept things as they come while simultaneously still working on them with your therapist & on an private level as well. It's difficult to put into perspective our self-destructive mechanisms & the reasoning behind them. Sometimes it's best to slow down so as not to get overwhelmed by too much that we put on our plate without quite wanting to. Have a great week & thank you for sharing your journey with us.

I’m glad u pointed out the way you avoided the extra steps that would’ve shown yourself self love and care (with eating out of a pan at the counter Vs plating ur food). Little steps like this make a big difference. Hope u can find the energy to show yourself love. Food effects our energy levels and how we feel WITHIN ourselves and ABOUT ourselves

I'm only a little part of the way through but I wanted to mention that your food 'rule' of not replacing a meal with unhealthy food has been such a game changer for me. I never even thought of it like that but now this is something that reduced a binge or even stops it completely as it takes my mind off it with an actual meal. Keep going Tammy! Not only are these videos helping you but they're helping and inspiring so many others like me!

    • @raquellambropoulos279
      @raquellambropoulos279 2 роки тому

Wait ,so you are thinking it is good to eat an entire meal after a binge or after a too high calorie snack ? How about just listening to your body and eating when hungry? I don't count every calorie but I estimate 500 per meal. If i choose to eat a donut instead of a healthy dinner that was my choice and i miss dinner. The next time i am in the situation I think hell no i don't want cake i want my dinner!! Having the cake and dinner as well is how you pack on pounds. Its the entire mindset of reward for food, which is toxic. Why reward your bad behavior? Why see food as a reward at all? Just eat to fuel your body. Sure it should taste good and be enjoyable. Healthy food can be that way

    • @goodsofearth
      @goodsofearth 2 роки тому +1

@@raquellambropoulos279 no noo totally different from how I meant it! A binge is definitely not a 'reward' in my mind as the impulse to binge usually comes from feeling sad or alone etc, when I binge I usually say okay well I won't bother with dinner as that will help bring down the calories at least it's a tiny bit better. With Tammy's rule i prioritise the full healthy meal and by the time I've done that most of the time the impulse to binge has passed entirely or I don't want to as I know I've already consumed the calories from my meal I don't want to make it 'worse' and eat more. I hope that makes sense as it's a difficult thing to explain 😅 my goal one day is absolutely to eat to fuel my body but I'm 27 years old now and have been struggling with disorder eating since the age of 11, it should be easy and straight forward to just eat normally but unfortunately I'm not there yet.

Tammy, I cannot thank you enough for sharing. Your videos are so relatable and truly make me feel like I’m less alone. One of the things that has helped me with binging has been reframing it as a form of self-harm. I used to see it as the only coping mechanism I had, but working with my therapist to reframe binges as acts of harm has really helped to snap me out of those intense urges when they occur. I’ve been in treatment for over a year and this has been the thing that helped most so far. I’m currently 2 weeks binge free for the first time since I can remember :) wishing you and all your viewers peace and encouragement!

I’ve found I feel more in control lately if I focus on how I feel PHYSICALLY after binging or eating horribly. Emotions change too often and it’s harder for me to push away binge urges if I only focus on my emotional state. It ends with me tricking myself by getting happy and then binging. Since I had previously associated negative feelings with binging. But, if I tell myself that I will get sick or that I’ll get heartburn, it turns me away much easier.

Hi Tammy! First of all - so GLAD i found ur channel.. i share the same struggles as you are, i was lean as a kid but I stopped playing volleyball professionally and gained massive amount of weight afterwards that I couldnt get rid of for years.. along with emotional eating and binging problems.
As someone who lived also in Amsterdam for 3 years (very recently moved out of NL), i have to say the food environment in NL makes it SUPER HARD to lose weight. Although general public seem to be really lean (Dutch people, as I saw, tend to eat very small portions) I struggled A LOT since if you are unable to cook on your own due to emotional distress (I was also almost working 10 hours a day + living alone) the options of -especially- ordering healthy food were limited and quite underdeveloped. The healthy options were always localized towards the centre of the city, and although distances are really short since its a small country, the delivery was not done in small businesses if its more than 1.5 kms away which is CRAZY compared to bigger countries. And in comparison, junk food options had much more stores in outskirts, and obv delivering everywhere. (Only talking about ordering, supermarkets are good in healthy food content)
In such distressed situations, unless you have a car (which I didnt) or the energy to pick your food up, you would be %80 ending up with junk.
I REALLY hope in NL this issue gets much better, and I don't know if you share the same problems, but it was really hard to deal with.

I am new here. But you caught my eye because I, too, am overweight. About 50 pounds.
I am a senior so I have already had a good life and big family. But I am borderline diabetic and have seen the horrid complications of this disease. I had an eye stroke. Wake-up call for me. So I am on this journey with you.
I lost 10 pounds in my first three weeks of low carbs and fasting. Then I had a craving for macaroni and cheese with stewed tomatoes. And I acted on it.
I swear I gained a pound overnight. I hope I don’t do that again. But, like you, I am going to keep plugging away.
I will be praying for you nightly. SO glad you are working on your body now. I wish I had when I was younger. The complications caused by obesity are endless.

Hey Tammy, I hope you're not stressing yourself too much about that last binge anymore and look forward.
If you're noticing a physical and mental improvement after eating healthier, you could put that on a paper. I liked your "sheet" where you listed reasons why a binge happened, maybe you can do something similar by writing how you feel physically and mentally during/after a binge compared to how you feel while eating healthier. I still struggle with cravings, but thinking deeply about how healthy foods work as a better fuel for my body and live style and how sluggish I feel after eating a lot of junk, helps me with not giving into these cravings quite often.
I appreciate your openness and wish you the best. ♥️

Hi Tammy. I don’t have an eating disorder but I do have a dependency on alcohol. As a kid I had OCD.at 11 back in the 70S I had Bulimia! At that time it was never heard of. I went to hospital to check why I was being sick. This followed me for years. I became as well as a binge eater an anorexic. Then later became alcohol dependant. The problem is to stop burying the pain. I believe every addiction is to stop feeling something.

Your singing is so beautiful Tammy! Have you ever thought about joining a choir or singing course? It could help with depression? I’m thinking of doing it myself.

yeah I don’t like talking about my food problem to normal weight people because they literally can’t understand. it’s not so simple as it is to them to just don’t eat it, don’t buy it etc. the closes comparison I can think of is to being a drug addict or a alcoholic.
we literally have almost the same cravings the same urges that same itch. we obviously know it’s bad and we will regret it later when we are on our “downers” but that urge is still so much stronger. I also get bad mood swings if I stop myself from getting what I want like super grumpy bitchy moody and I snap at people.

I just watched a video of a women who went from healthy to food processed food. She found that she would eat excessively 1,000 extra cals just to feel full. When she eats healthier, she said her body gets fuller and on less cals. When you said something about not skipping a meal even after a cookie, it made me think of her video. Great call! Good luck with your journey

    Hi Tammy,
I too struggle with overeating. I especially struggle with candy and sweet foods. I was wondering how about you start baking at home, using less processed ingredients? That way you feel like you've created something nice and also get to eat something yummy and healthier. 😋
You could also volunteer at a soup kitchen, that way you give back to the community and I'm sure it'll give you some extra boost of self confidence. Or anything like that really. Maybe that'll keep you busier and help avoid or postpone binging.
    Take care! 🤗🤗

I don't know if that speaks to you but there are AA type meetings for people addicted to food! (Overeaters anonymous) The AA movement helped me so much. I've been sober for years and also fine with food now. If there are no OA meetings in you area I'm such NA or AA would welcome you, because an addiction is an addiction.

That feeling of needing to stuff your face is really uncontrollable. Like, it’s a meth addict trying to not do meth. Every minute of the day becomes consumed with fighting the urge and it’s incredibly tiring. It has nothing to do with your lack of self control, be easy on yourself and keep moving forwards, it’s all learning and progress!

Such a gorgeous voice, singing, and talking too!! I'm new to your channel, and I can feel your struggle...and hate that such a beautiful person is dealing with that all day, every day. I'm sure that you must have covered the topic of Lap Bands, Gastric Sleeves, or newer procedures that are out there...things that would keep you from feeling so tortured all the time...and maybe you have a reason for not being able to have them. I would have to if that were me, because I can't stick to anything good for me for more than a week, LOL!!! I somehow was able to quit smoking, though, about 30 years ago after trying everything from patches to hypnotism...and even though I still crave them at times, I remind myself how difficult it was to quit, and I'm not willing to do that to myself again. I know you can find something that will work for you...be determined, and go after it!! ♥♥

I argued with my mom because she wouldn't hide the cashews from me like I had asked, she was defensive and insultingly said, "well I just figured if you don't want to eat them, then don't eat them! It's just common sense to me!" I was so pissed, but I didn't say everything I had wanted to say. Like that she knows I have substance abuse problems, so why would food be any different... And that she has no problem trying to control when I buy chocolate chips, and hiding those even though she literally never eats or uses them...
Anyway, I knew she was just being defensive. And she admits that she's never struggled with any of the things I struggle with, so she openly doesn't understand. She tries though, and I'm glad Stefan tries for you.

To y'all reading this: I recommend Glenn Livingston's book Never Binge Again. He shows you a few tricks that most of the time help me a lot. I haven't binged since reading it although I ate a few more snacks than I intended to eat but I haven't had this disgusting urge to binge which actually feels the worst. It's like a long-term solution. You do need to read it til the END before judging, otherwise it doesn't make sense. ❤️
After reading the book and watching a few of these videos I realized that I can't keep lots of sweet stuff at home without eating it out of boredom. If I want a snack I'm gonna buy it right away. That's my only solution.

Tammy, you need more of a schedule/routine in your life. You are home alone way to much and that isn’t healthy for you. Getting a low stress job would get you out, lift your mood, give you a healthy routine and help your eating plan.

You go girl 😘
Ps. Ja ik doe het lekker in het Nederlands ☺️

You’re still doing good! You could explain it to people as an addiction. Eating disorders are very much an addiction. For you, saying no to a sugar craving is just like a smoker saying no to a cigarette. (I’ve recovered from eating disorders AND quit smoking so personal saw how very similar they are😅) it’s hard but you can do it!👍 you’re so strong you always get right back on the wagon 😄

hello tammy! i know you can do that! just be consistent, consistency is the key to reach your goals. i was 90 kg before and now i am maintaining my weight of 67kg. just eat healthy such as veggies, fruits, avoid sweets, avoid too much carbohydrates and always check the calories of the food you will eat. caloric deficit is very effective. and try to walk and do cardio exercises everyday. it will help you to lose weight. that is what i did.

That's the thing you need to realize is to remember how you feel after eating unhealthy. Maybe find something you enjoy that's even a bit healthier. If your able to move about even a short walk a day will help.. I was over weight my self. and step by step you will get there just need to have the right mindset and remember why you want to change. It's a lifestyle and isn't going to happen over night. Stay away from all the sugar and unhealthy carbs. Find new whole food meals you can make and reduce portion size. All this is key for losing weight.. You can do it just depends how much you want to change 🤷‍♂️. 💪

Going back to eating three meals a day is probably a good plan for you now. But.. I'd change it to eating ONLY three times a day. Period.
Of course if you get the highly processed food-like substances out of your house, sticking to that plan will be easier and more productive.

I don’t know anything about BED but I know one of the first rules for a restrictive ED is to not have food rules…does maybe having so much focus on food rules and when you should eat and what you should eat etc maybe trigger your bingeing?
Please note this is just a question/curious suggestion from someone who suffers from a restrictive ED…I don’t wish to sound rude or anything I’m just curious as to how similar the two EDs are.
