Looking at Shane's recipe it is a little different. He does not use spinach, mint or habanero pepper. I think the mint and habanero pepper is for taste but what about the spinach? Why would you include it but he does not?
Also, on your recipe card it states 3 cups of water but I didn't see you add that in the video. Are we to add water to this after it is done going through the juicer?
Last question - the recipe also states that the final juice amount can be cut with 1/3 water. What does this mean?
This is my very first juice fast so I want to make sure that I am getting it right. Thanks.

I first met Lou Corona when he was 52 (I believe. or maybe 56?) at a food demo at a Whole Foods. If he is 72 this year, then that would have been about 20 years ago. He did the demo where he took thick sticky oatmeal that is ready to eat and poured some enzyme powder and showed how the enzymes liquefy the oatmeal. And I believe he also spoke about his lemon ginger blast juice. I bought a hand-crank Z-star juicer and used that to make the lemon ginger blast. I ended up attaching an electric drill to the end that the hand crank attaches to. I started making the drinks and it really made a difference to my health. the retaining ring on the Z-star started to crack from the pressures. And i tried to repair it. And it held for a bit but eventually cracked again. For several years I tried to figure out what i could do.. I thought of making my own replacement ring.. perhaps reinforced to withstand the pressures or to create a 3d print of it and then print a new one. Also that one could be made with thicker parts to last longer. In any case, a couple months ago I did find a replacement retaining ring on the Tribest website for $4.95. So I ordered one and hope to get it soon and then I can begin to start juicing again. I may consider getting the juicer that you recommend. What i like about my Z-star, is it is very portable.. It can be carried in luggage very easily. It is a manual juicer. But with my electric drill attached, I can make it crank with less effort. And because it is powered by a battery-powered electric drill I can take it on trips where there is no electricity.. like road trips and hiking/camping, etc. and if I don't have the electric drill I can still manually crank it with the handle. The reason why I am commenting on your video today is i was trying to remember Lou's name and also see what he is up to these days. And also to check what his lemon ginger blast recipe is. I am not 100% sure, but I think he recommended the Granny Smith apples. Or maybe it is just that I like those better?? And I used serrano peppers. I think because they were less expensive than the habaneros, and more readily available fresh.
I am wondering if you can talk about where you get your ingredients for the lemon ginger blast and what it cost you for them?

Tried it! Loved it! Did not try the pepper , was kind of skeptical of it in a juice. But the lemon definitely helps with the flavor, I added a few extra ingredients (more celery apples cucumber spinach oranges and little water)to bring the lemon flavor down, made me love the drink even more! Love the base ingredients! All of them are very nutritious! Definitely will be adding this to my juice rotation!

I love Gillians channel and most of the people she brings on. I am a huge fan of juicing. That being said I try to be as realistic with natural as possible. In one sitting, we do not eat a whole head of celery, clinatro and parsley. If you make this juice as listed in this recipe I would suggest breaking it up into 4 to 5 servings a day and not drinking it in one or two hours. Its just not natural. Thats why celery juice crazies live in the bathroom because we aren't supposed to eat 25 stocks of celery in one go lol.

Excellent video as always! The only concern that I would have with this would be the amount of OXALATES from the spinach / kale (and possibly the celery). There are obviously a lot of wonderful benefits with this juice, but I would like to gain some insight into the topic of OXALATE DUMPING with regards to these vegetables. Sure, there are tons of advantages to eating a raw vegan diet but one has to also look at the cons. As a biomedical researcher, I try to see both sides of the story and focus on the materials (and methods), along with the results, interpretations, and the different possibilities and tactics to enhance one's health. Thanks for your efforts Gillian!

    • @Charlie-eq3dj
      @Charlie-eq3dj 2 місяці тому +2

Hi fab123fab. According to Anthony William's book titled Celery Juice, on pages 142-143 he writes that oxalates are not the cause of kidney stones, gall stones or uric acid in the kidneys. It's proteins bogging down the liver.
And I must say, my friends and coworkers who get kidney stones, two of them work out at the gym and eat lots of animal protein and the other has become too afraid of fruits and vegetables to eat them fresh or in large amounts so he sticks to animal protein and heavily processed foods.I don't know any vegetarian, vegan or raw foodist who has had a kidney stone yet.
Since you're a researcher I would love to see a study to validate or disprove Anthony William's claims. My opinion is that they appear to be true as I am a high raw foodist and have never experienced a stone.

I make this recipe a lot, but use Granny Smith green apples, and usually leave out the hot pepper.
I think I already said, I juice fasted again 03-13-23, but broke it on 03-16-23 evening. I keep asking “God” to guide me, please, in a night dream, and one dream seemed to indicate that I needed to NOT do the juice fast… or needed to go slower to THRIVE (this may have to do with my adrenals, of course the thyroid-hypo-“autoimmune disease,” and all the acidosis/acids, chronic disease, stress of my life w disabled teenish-young adult, and that I’ve used food for treating, nurturing and nourishing), so going slower… just adding juices in and doing 80% raw, and not getting too down on myself when I eat things that make me tired, puffy, and more fatigued than I already am… but then I reach for stimulants (cacao, a little cold coffee, or black tea!), which is dehydrating and negative, over all. 🤷‍♀️ I’m impatient to get well and THRIVE! Been working on this for YEARS! But maybe I’m going at a pace that keeps me out of the Emergency Room, not dying, and functioning-in-my-life if even ever so slightly-lethargically, and not having poor-parenting moments. :P
✌🏻&❤️ Lou Corona really made a hit!

Congrats! And I totally agree. Time has been my biggest factor. Two days ago it took about 4 hours to prepare for three juices I was making.😳Washing to produce, then cutting into small enough pieces, then feeding into the juicer, then cleaning up. I decided not to strain the juices bc that adds a whole other level of time and messiness having to constantly clear it of pulp. And it only yielded 3 1/2 quarts.😂
I have a quality Omega, horizontal, masticating juicer. But doing juice cleanses, and even just incorporating one juice a day, having a Nama is going to be a MUST. Looking forward to getting one in September as a birthday gift to myself.🤗
Curious…How much time does it take you now? About an hour?

After watching you, Shane, FRK for about three months, I finally decided to try your juice recipe in this video. I didn’t have all the ingredients and I didn’t have my juicer (old Jack Lalane one somewhere). Instead I used what I had, namely my vitamix. After blending everything I strained it with a colander on top of a Wide mouth huge measuring cup. I then used a smaller strainer, placed it inside the bigger one to squeeze the rest of the juice out from the fiber. This was crude but very effective. My major learning was, with that amount of water added, it doesn’t spike the blood sugar like I thought it would. This is a huge learning. Your juices are so dark I figured they would hit the BS hard. Not true. Within minutes my achy shoulders felt better and my eyesight is better. I’ll try again tomorrow and also buy more ingredients. It was fun to create. I had apples, ginger, lemon, bottled water and kale on hand. I left the celery and kale out because they don’t seem as watery and I wasn’t sure with my vitamix. I love kale and celery whole anyway. Thank you for these videos. I’m already mostly raw many days. It this was a fun step up.

im doing the green smoothies. here in aus what she made would be $10-15 for one drink no joke. coriander is $3.20 for a small bunch, not what she or another guy I saw used (that might be $9, parsley same), celery I would say a huge one is $3.90. Im getting frozen fruits that are less than $3 or 300gm blueberries, dragonfruit etc. I sometimes can get fruit $3-5kg (apples mostly $5 cheap atm) or free lemons I can get.. the spinach etc mostly used in these juicers like Dr golden does, would cost me more than $4 the smoothies and salad I ogre it runs around $6 for my lunch with walnuts and a couple trinkets added. today I will be doing a grass smoothie. tastes like grass.. kale, some salad dark greens, maybe a pear, an orange, and some frozen fruit. Then I will do a another smoothie with a lemon, some berries and banana mango and pineapple. So that's gonna run to $6-7 or more.... then to think of dinner...:)

One thing you shouldn't forget is that if an electrical device is defective or our car needs a repair costing over 1000 euros, we often pay the bill without much thought, when the same amount should be invested in our body, which is there for us 24 hours a day We don't see the cost of "repairing" it...
P.S. Even half of the recipe will definitely do a lot for the body
