Shaji Chen (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaji_Chen) is a renowned writer, movie actor, music and movie critic. He started his career as a Music Industry A&R Executive and later moved to advertising and then to writing. He has written more than 10 books in three languages on movies, music, and memories. He witnessed and chronicled the evolution of Indian popular music and movies, in his reviews and writings. In the last few years, he has been acting in Tamil Movies with occasional outings to Telugu and Malayalam cinema.

Malayalam is derived from Tamil language and Sanskrit. So how can Malayalees sing Tamil songs better than Tamilians???? In fact Malayalees are unable to pronounce Tamil words properly. Alot of mispronunciations. I love their singing and voice, but when they sing Tamil songs, their pronunciation needs to improve

Actually SPB, P Susheela, S Janaki had perfect diction compared to Yesudas and Chitra in Tamil. Not to complain but both had natural Malayalam accent in few words they sang. Yesudas sang ‘therukoil’ instead of ‘thirukoil’ which became a controversy
