Thank you, everyone, I still need some time to work on Part II, as I recently rode the Desert X from Bogota, Colombia to Santiago, Chile for about 12K kilometers. This gave me enough time to have an educated idea about this bike. At the same time, I need to work and make money to support myself, work has been quite busy lately as well. I am sorry for the delay on Part II but soon enough I will film it.
My first Desert X I shipped to Uk from Australia.. it took my to Iceland and all the way down to Croatia . Sadly stolen in Italy . Now I have purchased a second hand one in New Mexico . I hope to ride down to Patagonia . I’m in awe of your mechanical prowess. I’d love to chat with you as to any tips on maintenance down south . Absolutely amazing skills and respect to you mate .
Excellent video! Perfect camera angles. Can't wait for Part 2 so I can see what other ideas I can borrow for my DX. Thinking Scotts steering damper next.
20 min job. Under tank location is the cleanest area to draw engine air from. Put a Unifilter foam element in and 10k mile swap is fine. Vid of over 12k on a Unifilter (ADV Ducati DesertX Australia crossing) is viewable for anyone who doubts this fact. Funny how the KTM crowd was fine with this under tank filter location on the 1090. They understood that putting the filter in a more accessible spot resulted in way more dusting of the element. My DesertX has 9k miles riding in Texas, around 3k off road. My filter is lightly dusted.
I did pretty much the same to my T7 It’s a joy doing it I went to a Ducati dealer earlier this week The new desert x rally looks really impressive Thinking to trade in my bike I really like the T7 but I can’t get the Dx rally out of my head Man it’s a terrible disease ,that’s why I’m always broke 😊
damn you are me: very neat, have the same Wera tools, lock tides, love the same add ons, same bikes and also I am from Colorado, whaaaat..... cheers V!
You are right, it is just installing parts and I am not a professional mechanic by any means. Although I have done some deep maintenance work on my 1090 R in the past...
Thank you, everyone, I still need some time to work on Part II, as I recently rode the Desert X from Bogota, Colombia to Santiago, Chile for about 12K kilometers. Amazing work, both on the bike and this video! Do you live in Colorado? I'm in Denver and should be getting my DDX in about 2 weeks. We should link up!
Also after your experience how are the guards from SW motech and how often are you cleaning the air filter ? Don’t you consider to put unioil Australian filet ?
Nice run through. DDX on the Western Slope here - touch base if you ride through. A few questions... The electrical block connectors - where'd you source those? The combined USB/Voltage readout - where'd you source that? The air filter - did you omit the buried back screws on re-installation of the cover? Last, did you replace that lower black plastic wind fairing when installing the crash bars? I've got the mounts set with the skid plate replacement but that wind fairing looks like avoidable misery unless absolutely necessary for steering clearance. Thanks, safe riding!
Both the USB outlet and the block connectors were from Amazon + SW Motech USB Outlet Handlebar holder. Links on description... I did not omit the any screws, I just got so frustrated while putting them back on started cursing so did not use the footage :D . Yeah, I did replace the lower fairing part for the crash bars but honestly I could not film every other step on some sections. I took the entire headlight assembly off anyhow so it was not a big deal to install that part, you need to take the coolant overflow reservoir bolts off to reach one of the bolts though.
Damn sorry you lost all your previous content. I was subscribed so it must have been good! Great video, that's gonna be a hell of a bike! Focal depth, lighting and shot angles were great, can see the effort you put in. Edit: Ah I see your website, of course it looks fantastic it's what you do! Was the Scott's Damper enough of a upgrade over stock to warrant it? What's the reason to go with a pannier system? Completely aesthetically subjective but imo panniers can ruin the look of a bike, and can be a cause of injury in a crash. Went with the Reckless 80 system from Mosko on my 701 Enduro personally. Excited to hear that de-cat + exhaust!
Thanks for the compliment and being a subscriber! The stock damper was kind of in the way of my tank bag where I carry my camera on projects and I also wanted a damper that I could adjust compared to the non-adjustable stock one. About pannier racks: The racks I installed can be taken off the bike quite easily, for aggressive riding but when I am on a long trip I prefer to use soft panniers, I like Mosko Moto bags in general and traveled with them in the past but Reckless 80 (Was on a 690 Enduro for a KLIM project in Colombia with them two years ago) is not my favorite for long trips, very hard to get stuff in and out imho. I have been using the Enduristan Monsoon Evo panniers for the past few years and quite happy with the system. Stay tuned for Part II, you will hear the bike and see the rest of the setup entirely.
Thank you! Well, for heated grips and the fog lights unfortunately you need to go an authorized Ducati dealer to get them activated by the computer. Installing them is super easy and plug but no play until you give em a visit. :)
@@RideMustSick video, thanks for putting this together. For the heated grips install, is the tank removal necessary, or did you only remove it because of the other work you were doing?
Really nice video. Already waiting for Part2. Do you know max Apms of the front connector? I guess there is a fuse for it in the fusebox, Is that right? Thx
Thank you! Do you mean the USB outlet I installed or the connection I got power from to it? I can tell that the USB outlet is charging my phone way faster than the USB port on the side of the dashboard.
@@RideMustI’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. I refer to the connector you got power from. I think that connector is there to power the optional Ducati (Garmin) Navigator. I was wondering if maybe it has its own “Accesories” fuse for safety located in the fusebox.
@@Pedro_CNC No worries, I have connected both my Garmin GPS and the USB Outlet to that connector and so far it has been working fine. Not sure about the fuse layout, as far as I know you have 6 fuses in the fuse box and 4th one is labeled Dashboard, could be that one? But I have in-line fuses both the cables coming from the GPS and the USB Outlet just in case.
Hello great video, do you have a wiring diagram for how you wired up the gps JST plug to the WAGO 221 Lever Nuts? did you connect the gps tablet to it? or what did you connect? did you just use as a splitter? if so can you explain how you did it. I have been trying to figure out solution to do my own controller and Gps tablet and other accessories. Thanks in advance.
There is the OEM GPS Switched Power line behind the dash. It is not connected to anything and has the female white adapter at the end. I used a WAGO 4 way distributor connected to that source to use it for GPS, USD Pd Outlet and lights.
Did you need to have the ECU re-flashed for the exhaust or any other kind of re-mapping? Doing many of these same upgrades to mine. Thank you for the video!
The dealer enables the system for the lights so that you can use the button on the handlebar to activate the lights, have not tried that with 3rd party lights.
Hey! Does any of this void your warranty? I work on my bikes and I hear about Ducati's 'send to the dealer' for everything, but I am obsessed with the DX.
As a Desert X owner, watching this brings me immense joy. More pls!
Thank you, stay tuned for more.
Damn. That man knows his way around a wrench ;)
...and DESERT X landed on earth. HALLELUJAH!!! Keep on what u are doing. Inspiring.

I literally cheered when I saw the Wago's go in. Inspiring work!
bro, all that work and not even one cuss word! 🤣🤣👌🏼💕
They were edited out! 🤣
Wera and Milwaukee 🥰
Nice content! Love the ASMR.
About the parts, couldn't be better! Amazed by the steering dumper 😊😊
Waiting for part 2!
Thanks Javi! It is a great bike to ride, but I am very disappointed in some design choices like Air Filter location and the effort to get to it... :)
@@RideMust The air filter location is a "design" choice that comes from the Multistrata 950. It was a pain to get to

Please upload video2 I was gutted when it wasn’t already there, fantastic j9b and choice of parts 🇬🇧🇬🇧

It has been great so far after 12000 kms on it through South America.

What model is the handle bar riser? Can’t find one anywhere.

Do you live in Colorado? I'm in Denver and should be getting my DDX in about 2 weeks. We should link up!
I used to live in CO but moved to AZ recently.
Thank you for this disassembly video ! What is the brand of the package holder assembly please ?
SW-Motech.
Cleaning the air filter I see.... (I have one too!)
Nice to meet you. I'm riding the same model in Korea.
What kind of footpegs did you use?
Can you give me a link?
Bonjour comment avez vous brancher les antibrouillard ?🤔
I see you did some kind of adjustment to the throttle. Did you manage to get rid of all the free-play?
I installed heated grips, throttle free play did not bother me tbh.
Also after your experience how are the guards from SW motech and how often are you cleaning the air filter ?
Don’t you consider to put unioil Australian filet ?
Hello, where did you buy the HP Corse Exhaust System?
amazing video by the way!!

I did not yet, as Ducati won't have a map for my setup I need to look for 3rd party options but they seem a bit sketchy so far...
I think that probably Ducati map would fit just fine this setup… or do you think termignoni full exaust is much different ?
This bike would be perfect with 150 HP.
Did you have to get there dealer to program the fog light button for it to work?
Yes, both the OEM heated grips and the fog lights needed programming at the dealer.
thinking to install Denali electronics fog lights (have the same plug) will they work or dealer must to enable them?!? Thank you!
The dealer enables the system for the lights so that you can use the button on the handlebar to activate the lights, have not tried that with 3rd party lights.
Which exact model are you thinking cause I am not happy with OEM ones.
C’est une pub pour Wago ?

Any idea where to get Loctite 601?
Part two?
When I get my motorbike purchased I will ship it to you to modify if your interested in doing so.
What’s the brand of the electric screw driver ?
When will we see more??
Pretty soon for the reveal video and some riding.
Bonjour pouvez vous me donner la référence de l’amortisseur de direction ? Merci
Why another paper air filter ? Better to use an oiled foam uni-filter ?
Unifilter didn’t show up in time, will install that one very soon.
No side view of the finished product!
le filtre à air est pas du tout accessible 😱
Not one single bolt torqued to the correct spec
What if I did not film every time I used the torque wrench?
