Playing Golf Club Wasteland/Nostalgia first, along with seeing Charlie's Odyssey that unlocks when completed, changes the experience going into this game a lot and so much better. It changes it from a decent game no feeling about the lore to something that hooks you the moment it starts. It's quite a different experience having done the other first. It's gonna be whey some will have the opinion of this review and others feeling quite different and loving their time with it.
3 hours seems like a good length even if it runs out of ideas before the end, but am a sucker for the aesthetic and cinematic platformers.
I see short runtime as an absolute win for these type of games, it's horrible if they overstay their welcome. There's a sweet spot in lenght and that's around 2-5 hours depending on the game. Had INSIDE been 6 or more hours it wouldn't have been such an amazing game. 3 Hours seems just right gonna pick this up in the special bundle with planet of lana which is only 9 bucks if you already have planet of lana (another amazing game)
Awesome beautiful game, too short? Yes! But limbo, inside, somerville etc. Where all about that lenght, its a "in between" game and will be on sale on switch pretty fast, so be patient and get that gem later on.
I wouldn't call it a "Companion" piece myself. I'd call it an evolutionary sequel, as the Cub character was also featured in Golfclub Nostalgia. I'd highly suggest everyone play Golfclub Nostalgia first, as it utilizes that same radio DJ and call in listeners style to convey the story of what happened to the Earth and life on Mars. It's also a more chill relaxing type of game. And it can often be had for very cheap on sale.
There's so many things SUPERFLIPPINFANTASTIC about this game, yet it sometimes feels like the devs never made or played a video game ever before. There are so many areas where the control of the character feels slow, sluggish and unresponsive. The White Buffalo area being one of the most frustrating areas as the character control seems to change randomly when attempting to jump. The double jump also seems like it fails sometimes at the worst possible times. Other than that, the music & commentary, the art style, the story line, are all SUPERFLIPPINFANTASTIC!!!
For a moment I thought it was the Avatar 😅
Gotta love the game's anti-capitalist stuff in this dy age. Yep. It's not getting old ever. Totally not seeing it everywhere else.

@@JimTheBananaBoy Bots don't usually misspell phrases like "day and age" as badly as I did here.Is it so hard to believe that a real person would make a sarcastic comment about how unoriginal the whole "capitalism bad" idea as a narrative thing has become?
Bots aso don't have crappy uploads of themselves playing awesome games.
TL;DR I've never met a person more wrong about anything than you in this instance.
Considering how many reused assets this uses, it feels like a very short almost half baked game.
