People need to talk more about these good games, these little surprises. The gaming industry isn't as doomed as how the bleak stuff covered by the media make most think.
It is pretty doomed. Great indie games are also very rare and only half a dozen or so per year Majority of indie games are absolute shovelware and worse than the worst AAA games
The gaming industry is currently going through a thing that the music industry has been going through for a long time which is everyone thinks games and music are bad now and that couldn’t be further from the truth if you put in even a little bit of effort to go past the surface level of the mainstream
I would’ve never got into these types of platformers, but I got a Switch last year and it opened up my mind to these games. I really like playing them on handheld for some reason. Definitely gonna play Planet of Lana! It looks gorgeous.
Thought the same but unfortunately its an xbox exclusive "According to the official website of the game, Planet of Lana is hailed as an Xbox exclusive title, meaning only PC and Xbox gamers will get to play this game." so its a pity im never ever going to play this game.
Was going to comment the same. Sound and music are one of the most important features of games that seem to be overlooked by many reviewers. Well done ACG!
Agreed. I'm a musician and gamer and ACG is the only reviewer that I've come across that actually takes sound design into real consideration in his reviews.
So nice to see a big UA-camr like you showing love to Indie games. I think there's an overload of TOTK content at the moment, but these devs require some appreciation as well. Massive respect as always!
I loved Flashback back in the day. The way she lands on a cliff edge after jumping looks 1:1; the organic movement instead of video game impossibilities of movement, is VERY ZEN for me... its a BUY for me.
This game is really beautiful. I can only recommend this game to everyone. It's not too short, not too long - perfect length. The music is great, the gameplay is fun...Hopefully it will come to Playstation and Switch, the game deserves more attention.

I don't see Ori either, but I am wondering if it's going to pull at the heart strings like Ori? 🤔 That, along with a great soundtrack, will definitely give Ori vibes.

Fantastic review of a beautiful game. I finished Planet of Lana just last night and haven't stopped thinking about it all day. If anyone is considering Game of the Year blind spots, this should be right at the top of their list. Only 4-5 hours long, available now on Gamepass, delivers quality throughout - just get on it. Without wanting to ramble, Planet of Lana does things and goes places I never would've expected. It's pure magic.
A "like" for the Flashback reference. Also, I really appreciate the in depth analysis of the audio presentation (both music and sound effects). For me, audio is an equal third of the gaming experience, alongside gameplay and visuals, and not enough reviewers focus on providing detail on that portion of a game. You've convinced me to give this game a try. Good work!
Great game, very chill. So many games now seem like they're trying to punish the player with how difficult they are. When you get to be old like me and your dexterity isn't what it once was, that can suck. Instead, Planet of Lana focuses on the majesty of the game world and guides you gently through its twists and turns. Solving the mostly relatively simple environmental puzzles still gives the satisfaction you crave but without pulling your hair out in the mean time. It also doesn't wear out its welcome, clocking in at roughly 4-5 hours. The score is also very soothing and epic when it needs to be. 5/5.
