The Focke Wulf 190 Dora is stiff but lethal, the excellent high speed manoeuvrability paired with it's high altitude preset makes it a great Boom and zoomer, unfortunately it's not very good at dealing with people that have more energy than you.

@@eliasa.5408 I had 8 kills in a Soviet P-63 (ok, 4 where bombers) and after an hour of that round (this was when the rounds lasted longer) it was a defeat. Could not catch the last bomber.
@@Jaeger_89 he said it's the best footage he got. and i agree with that, it's not a carry plane and it's great at swooping in while the team is occupied fighting. the way to maybe carry in this is to stay above everyone and run away, make wise decisions about who and when to fight. it's extremely hard to carry in this plane, it evolves some big brain time and this is why it's my favorite prop :)
despite 109K, G outperforming it and being more fun, so to say. this is different kind of fun, struggling for a win. i think most d9 pilots are weirdos, but you CAN solo carry in this plane, it's just extremely hard.

Isn't support fighter something that isn't meant to carry a match? Like a fighter that usually helps with the baits or sweeps from a certain angle people who's in lower energy state?
@@kingghidorah8106 I think it's some and some, traditionally yes as you say it's more in the secondary role but in the hands of a pilot like DEFYN a support fighter is supporting his entire team with a carry
@@kogi4684 ah make sense. I actually like doras a lot especially the Ta C and the D9, out dogfighting people is very rewarding but it's becoming more common because the player base is less skilled than before
The Stirlings represent British bombers pretty well: they have a great bomb load (and British 1000lb bombs are efficient), but they are massive, slow, and poorly defended (only 7.7 MGs).

I always did find it interesting that the D-12 in-game is the plane that gets all the unlockable camouflages, even though the D-9 was actually built in numbers and saw service while the D-12 was cancelled after only a few were built.
Not at all related to the plane's performance, just something I find interesting.

There are so many planes with no unlockable camos, pretty sad when the stock camo isn't great and your only option is user-made skins.

I’ve unlocked the FW190 all the way up to the D-12 but every time I play them I get so frustrated. I feel if you make one mistake you literally have no options. If someone is above you you have no options. Incredibly disciplined play style.
For the 109’s I feel there are so many options and play style as it is far more versatile. Winning a 1v1 dogfight through energy fighter is very rewarding. The FW190 really has no showy moments.
Personal preference I guess.

Idk, the fact that it train my discipline to learn altitude, flaps management, energy management, target priority and area assessment is something I appreciate from this plane, definitely the best of the FW 190, probably my favourite plane to date. A6M5 premium,sorry.
Defyn you should do a series where you break down x vs y combats like Fw 190 D13 vs Spitfire LF etc, where you go more in depth on the strategy involved and the various mindsets for each playstyle with each plane. That would be quite enlightening. Like match ups were one is at a slight disadvantage or where it's often a challenge to win,

This and Ta-152C-3 are my favourite aircraft in the whole game. Too bad the Ta costs about 30K to repair, even though it gets outclassed by all other 6.0s.
They dont represent the dora correctly in this game. Ive been playing il-2 and sims that accuratly depict how these planes actually flew and this game just shits all over some great planes legacys. The ta was a good plane but, it wasnt as useful as the d-9. When the war ended and we came across abandoned german fighters, we rigged them up to run off our high octane fuel and the dora out perfomed anything we had at the time in the air. This is a fact you can read about it. The TA is to much of a strict high altitude fighter for my taste, it fails to much at lower altitudes vs fighters, it seems to be a interceptor strictly for bombers more then to face other fighters.
@@profo4544 the saddest part is that they got it correctly in earlier versions of the game, and then shit over basivally all of german fighters. Back then you could hold up in 1v1 with basically everything, even if they had superior turn ratios
@@Omen09 The d-13 is my favorite model, the gun layout the 3x 20 mineshells thats essentially a gun a modern fighter would pack, atleast round size wise. And it also had hydrolic ailerons wich gave it basically the roll rate of the antons. Its basically a d-9 thats like 10 mph slower at low alt, but is much better at high alts. There was also a rubber seal like a gasket seal that the dora was supposed to have when it went into production, Kurt tank was confused how they even managed to work without the part in the first place, but if they were made with this rubber piece it made the Jumo engine perform better, a good amount better from what i heard. I think what happend was we came across some partially built doras and built one according to our tolerances, we might of added better metals to areas that might have cooled it down better, the germans at the end couldnt get there hands on alot of types of quality metals. Alot of people think this a rumor, but this is a legit article ive read and i know for a fact its somewhere out there. I forgot the exact things it went into regarding the changes, but we somehow managed to make it operate on a higher fuel without knocking as much, and we kept the MW50 system, we i think made changed to that aswell. The mw50 was one of the things that made the jumo not knock. but airframe wise, the doras are better than anything, they were inverting the v-12s before we even figured out the advantages that gives, and they were building the entire airframe around the inverted v-12 shape, if u look at a dora from the rear its a pyramid, the bottom is flat and wider and the top comes to a point. A flat body on a fighter is good, it helps with angles of attack and is just much better to have were using this on modern steath jets, its actually something we really slept on and didnt know about untill recently, the germans saw this advantage in the 30s-40s. Theres so many crazy details i can go on for a while. They also might of thrown a different prop on the dora, maybe a 4 blade instead of the 3 bladed paddle prop, im not sure but if i had to bet on it id say they messed around with them and probably had a few flying damn well.

Defyn, nice vid. Do you remember wayy back when the D9 had little to no elevator authority? That was pure pain back then. The D9 is def not an "aggressive" figher but more of a support.

I don’t believe in “support fighter” it’s a bs term for the plane isn’t very good. Support is a play style not a plane, the good planes can play a “support” role and also carry games, so what’s the point
There are various degrees to being not very good. There are planes that can carry (carry planes), there are planes that can 3rd party (support), and then there are planes that can't do anything but maybe go for AI (bad).
Most planes I agree, but this is one of those exceptions to me.
Support planes are normally just bad, but it has good synergy with 109s and they fill some gaps on each other.
If the plane is a Jack of all trades then yeah it can support and carry ( alone vs entire enemy team ) , but there are planes that only have one good thing either speed or roll rate or turn and shit at every other thing and that's a support plane using your team members as bait basically so you can position yourself and get kills but as soon your team is dead then there's not much you can do if they gang up on you .
@@rabbischlomobengoldbergstein I agree ,but my point is that isn't the title of an aircraft. What if the "carry" planes are playing the support role, since they can do whatever they want. Are they not considered support fighting even if they're 3rd partying? If a plane is bad it's bad. Support is a playstyle, not a class.
Honestly I feel like this video understates how good the D9 can be 1v1. Now you cant really rate fight people, though at low speeds you can surprise some planes with the landing flaps so you can pull around on some of the fatter fighters at that br. The D9 is the best turning of all the Fw190s and its engine performance is quite good, not amazing at its br but again it surprises some people. In any sort of rolling fight you 100% have the ability to destroy even yak 3s and it is entirely because of those landing flaps, once you get under 300 you would expect a Fw190 to basically drop out of the air, but no this thing can hold a decent turn speed all the way down to 230, this makes it fly alot like a F4U-4 (not a B its engine is too bad for that), people see you and think you cant turn at all, you bait them slow and use your roll authority to suddenly cut into their turn with your surprisingly good low alt low speed turning. I have used this on many occasions to kill yak-3s, F4Us (who dont use their flaps well), Ki 61s, and a few others. It can even hang long term with some more fat planes like the heavier yak 9s, p51s, p47s, I185s. Now yes this plane is still a Fw190, no getting around that, your better off using your energy retention, but never underestimate this things 1v1 this is not a Fw190A and if you treat it like that your going to die, if your fighting it or if you are flying it
The funny thing is you can completely miss this feature of the plane if you just fly it like a normal Fw190, next time you fly this thing and get in a turn fight, instead of pitching down for more speed, pitch up, drop flaps, and give whoever you are fighting a fun little surprise. (Notably if the flaps were fully used at the start of this video that F4U kill would have been alot easier). Basically if you are above 500km/h try your hardest to stay above 500, if you are below 500 try and get under and stay under 300 and fully use those flaps
TLDR: Flaps good, if your under 500 and in a dogfight try to loose speed down to 300 and keep your flaps fully extended at all times. Use your roll+surprising low speed turn to kill people who aren't expecting you to be able to turn at all. Oh also this is literally the best german plane for ground rb fight me.

I’ve pretty much stopped playing late props because of this. If you play anything above 4.7, 8/10 games is a 6V6 with 4 bombers/attackers and it’s just painful.2.7-4.7 is where the fun is at.
@@md.shihabsharar8753 I have been playing the A-4, G-6, and Hispanostang but I decided to go lower down and give the P-40E a try. It is endless pain. Soviet premium spam means you will almost always be fighting a P-39N-0.
I've been using this bastard at 6.3 ground for CAS/Air Superiority. Wrecking people HARD! I can't help but to like it :p
My favourite is still the FW-190A-8, so much firepower! And high fire rate 👍 only problem is it makes your turn time slower but that's not really needed for a bnz plane anyways

The D9 is my favourite plane in the game, i actually have to disagree about the support fighter part, because i have been winning 1v6s vs Spits, F4U4s and Mustangs quite often. I love the armament, the energy capabilitys and the high speed turn rate. Maybe it was just due to my enemys being stupid but i have nerver really had issues with the enemys outclimbing me.

See the Dora series were high altitude interceptors. It’s not a shock it’s got issues down lower. I preferred the A-8 version cause I like to say, there’s nothing wrong with more guns

I've always run API and air targets for my german tier 4s but seeing Defyn's IAI and stealth load has gotten me curious as to which is better.

@@zvin1611 It was an event where US had a formation of AI bombers and the players (Mustangs and Thunderbolts) protected them from the German team (D-9s, A-5/U12s, 410s, G-6s, something like that I think?) and it was incredibly easy to grind there so Gaijin cancelled it.

Regardless of the answer, thanks for your input. Was aN ex-terrible player, but your perspective to set up my expectations is making the game feel a lot less irritating - so now I am actually attempting to do more interesting manoeuvres and plays for time/the win - than just head on, turn fight, can't actually turn fight, die. Repeat.

In my opinion D9 is the best Dora. It's very competitive up to 5km where the other D's will start to outperform it in terms of engine power, but despite what the stat card says up to 5km the D9 outclimbs the other Doras and it has a slightly better turn rate. Also aiming is alot easier with the IAI belts and stealth belt combo for the 20s since the IAI 13mms and the main damage dealers of the 20 shells stealth belts have nearly the same velocity.
People often talk about some planes needing "good teams," like you did here; but I wonder- how _does_ one be a good team player? I've heard people complaining that the "teams on [X] nation at [Y] BR are awful-" well, what can one do to better the situation, or at the very least slightly improve the chance of a victory? Is it just, give up on helping your teammates and become a carrying god? Play with a squadmate? I believe you're certainly an experienced player, DEFYN- what do you do to be a better team player?

One trick i used to use in il2 was agressive rolling manuevers, try to ctach them ina feint one way get them to commit then go the other type of thing. To try to get mustangs who had more energy infront of me. It would actually work alot, u might take a few shots but ive had it work alot. especially down on the deck. Im not sure how the dora performs in this game or if its even close to the dora in il-2. Alot of these precise lead shots would never ever happen in il-2 or a real life scenario ill tell you that tho, that kill at 3:28, yeah right. In reality you would of had to get urself way more on his six before shooting, maybe a few of those early lead shots would of hit but, ur leading so far ahead and doras didnt have gyros so. Idk how realistic this game really is. Ur just casually manuevering taking lead shots and downing shit like its nothing. The dora in reality was a decent plane, alot better then this game makes them out to be. When the US got our hands on them after the war and rigged them to work on our high octane fuel, they out performed anything we had. This is a fact. I do prefer the d-13s gun layout over the d-9s tho by alot.

People mainly leave because of Repair costs. Some called me a "Pussy" for J-ing out after me being the last one but excuse me, i won't go down paying 16k repairs just to be HONORABLU. I look after my resources. Or at least i looked after them when i played the game.
I have no intention of playing hard grinded planes just to get broke in the end. The more you go in BR it should be more fun and rewarding. It is not.
