I got a few questions: What are your MEC settings? (I saw you adjust prop pitch to 100% at some point) How do you micromanage your engine to stop it overheating in the long run?
I'm writing this under the assumption that nothing has changed in the few months since I last played the plane. The prop pitch seems to be bugged. The performance loss doesn't start until you lower it down to ~70%, but the engine temp benefits remain, so keep it at around 75%. Keep the oil rad at 100% and water rad at 65%. This way you should be able to WEP almost indefinitely at standard temperature maps. Worth noting that this is one of the few aircraft that has both a properly modelled mixture and no auto control for it, so you'll need to micro it as you change altitude. Below 4k 35% is fine, then switch to 25% until you reach 6.5k, then 20% above. For dogfights taking place between 3.5k and 5.5k you can just keep it at 30%
@@0GTXR Given that my test method was less than ideal, it seems that I wasn't far off lol. Could you test what the lowest prop pitch with no power/thrust loss is?

@@eb3yr that's what I often do on heat maps. The time I reach 5km I glide (is ironically a fantastic glider) and then restart the engine. I still struggle with the mixture getting very little power at high altitude. I don't like the I225 for RB, but it's my solid number one favorite 1v1 aircraft. Mec to control the temperature of a Mikulin engine is useless.
@@kingghidorah8106 MEC is always worth it, if only to prolong your engine from overheating for an extra 30s or so by always fully opening rads. I think on the I-225 when I briefly played it I'd increase mixture slightly on takeoff and steadily decrease with alt - it's a plane that really benefits from using WTRTI overlays to watch engine power. Lowering prop pitch to 90% or a bit below also helps reduce overheating.
i225 and Yak3 are in my personal opinion the most annoying Russian UFOs at that BR gap. They either severely outclimb everything, outrun everything or outturn everything…the only downside they all share is poor diving characteristics but as long as you can spaceclimb everything you want…well you get to dictate the engagement. Thus I never show credit to any player getting an ace with them since in my book, it‘s mostly playing WT on semi-easy mode. Just my personal opinion on them, then again I‘m certainly not as invested into WT as much as Defyn is and certainly am thus not that aware of every plane‘s strength and weaknesses. You literally have to pray that people at low altitude don't see you otherwise they'll just get away with better turning while you are in a dive trying to BnZ and you have to pray spitfire aren't looking for you lol also this plane compress a lot, if you go above 700km/h it literally become a brick and it has no damn ammo and those aren't even that strong in comparison to the planes it faces. Tbh the only real thing this plane could be good at is killing bombers, but not by going to their tail because even there you can get pilot sniped since this plane doesn't have a bulletproof glass. But then again, you're gonna have in your team some XP 50 and they'll kill bombers faster than this plane🤣 soo... not "one of the most powerfull" for sure.
TRUE SPITS KILL ME 100% OF THE TIME AND DEFYN DIDNT EVEN TALK ABOUT THEM WELL I DUN THINK HE DID

I guess this plane isn’t for everyone. I can’t even reach bombers half the time without being attacked by other fighter. Of course then I’m not BnZ-ing so I lose the fight most of the time.
I just skipped this trash and went for the Tier 4 Yaks instead.

last video about ta 152 h1 from 2 years ago
the russian planes seem to have just sureal energy retention
How do you know if they are in a squad?
When you open the scoreboard you can see tiny emblems with a number in them next to people's names, people of the same number are in the same squad, people without emblems are playing solo.
Is this thing capable of taking griffon spitfires at high altitude?
hello DEFYN, i have got a question for you, are you dutch?
So tracers for the shvaks what belt do you use for the berezin
Fly the G56
Can you do a video on the Yak-3p or 9p those things especially the 3p are monsters
Low speed flying huh? I've always hated this thing because slow speeds aren't in my playstyle
I’ve been taking this plane out and I was interested in the mec controls of this plane if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them I know there are some mec settings in the info on war thunder but I feel like I lose performance with them
bussin
hey defyn can you fly the p-39n
usually i try to get the most of every aircraft that you like or think is good. but this one? i can't. i just cant. the fact that i barely ever got killed by it nor impressed by people flying it(though i've never been in match together with u using i225), doesn't help either.
how do you choose between landing or take off flaps, I can only activate take off flaps when Im in the air
Theres a button for lower and raise
These arent assigned normally
You should fly the Ki-83 rn rn
I love this plane for 1v1, but on air RB the engine just cooks before reaching altitude so I'm left being an absolute brick and taking an L. It's so fun to out dogfight J2Ms at low speed lol
A Russian engine that has wep and an high altitude supercharger? You don't get that with a dependable cooling system .
MEC, and if the engine starts overheating in climb it's probably best to just restart the engine instead of trying to juggle the temps.
@@kingghidorah8106 if u win against j2m in this it only means the j2m is an idiot ;)
Some one tips just in all planes like p51 if some one whit more alt
Best 5.0 prop. Better than the p-51
make a video on the p51h5 please
please do a f86 A5 video
Good plane I guess, too bad no one wants to fight at high alt.
Probably beacuse I still haven't played anyhting in the russian tech tree, but this plane is among those I hate the most to fight against.
So if it shits on k4, and has better guns, why the fuck is it 5.3?
Because it has a shitty damage model and compresses like a mother fucker
You should fly the J6K again.
Can you please fly the p51d5 or d20
❤
Day 2 of asking defyn to play the f4u-4 as he has never featured it
Pretty much a decently better F4U-1 at a deservedly higher Br too.
i225 and Yak3 are in my personal opinion the most annoying Russian UFOs at that BR gap.
Perhaps I‘m also just biased from the old days where the Yak3s were literal UFOs x)
do do do do two things
haha
Can you fly I185-m71?
Boom and zoom with it. Watch your speed, dont go over 700km/h+
Where calories
Day 12 of asking for F4U 1C or XP50
Are you german?
hi defyn
Hello
hey defyn gaijin should start paying you for help it's player base>>??
Yo
First!! (Actually 369th 😔)
