  • I had a god plan when I started on this job, then I decided to deviate from the plan half way through. I should probably not have done that :-(
    00:00 The plan (3D model)
    02:10 Building mounting mechanism
    06:17 Explaining the mounting mechanism
    08:25 Building the headlight brackets
    09:10 Message from the future
09:50 Continue building the headlight brackets
10:15 Testing and evaluating the result

I know this video is a year old .. but that being said,
I think the headlight mount is excellent! It's custom! It's innovative! I really like that the fork tube look clean and unobstructed... I would have cleaned off the red sharpie and ran with it!!! Great Job!!

Thanks 😊I did make a follow-up video where I reused some of the parts, and got it to my liking: ua-cam.com/video/QE8kwDBoce0/v-deo.html

I think it's good that you still made this video even if you didn't succeed, On to the success video

Glad to hear that 😊 I had filmed the whole process and thought it was too bad to just throw it all away 🤣

I like the idea. I agree with all of your observations at the end but it's a great starting point. I'd sink the headlamp further into the fork but due to the mounting point on the headlamp there's only so far you can go.

    Not bad in my opinion...
you can Mesure fork diameter fix brackets that tide on forks and you can make some holes at sides metal that holds the headlight to adjust it back and forth....

Thanks 😊 I could probably have improved it, but ended up creating a new one from scratch, check out this video if you want to see how I did it finally: ua-cam.com/video/QE8kwDBoce0/v-deo.html

It needs to go up and back. The gap on the round tube isn't so bad It gives it a decent detail. Go as far up as you can without interfering with the Tach and speedo cables. Maybe even indent the headlamp bucket to get the headlamp back further. IMHO. It doesn't need to be adjustable once you figure out where you want it. Then you can tidy up the threaded rods.

Thanks for the feedback! I am not very keen on moving the headlight upwards, might move it some few millimeters if it is needed to get it back. I want the headlight to follow the main horizontal line of the bike, to avoid the bike look like an "ostrich" having a head sticking up in the front :-) Will definitely tidy up the threaded rods somehow.

@@kihestad My next project is going to be a Honda 350 or a Kwak 400, something like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo style but clean and well engineered. Which won't require OEM parts, just build from scratch. So issues like yours are good for me to see cool solutions to problems.

@@GearHeadGeeks That is really cool, good luck with your project!

Hi, if you are looking for something to tidy up the threaded bar, maxbo sell aluminium tubing (alu profil) with a 6mm internal diameter which slips over M6 threaded bar nicely. Also available in 8mm. Simple and cheap fix.

Thanks for the tip, will check it out! I have considered using a rubber hose, but this might be a better solution. I have struggled finding metal pipes with small diameter (6/8mm inner). I have no equipment (and no skills either) to weld aluminum, so I am normally looking for steel. In this case however would alu do the trick.

Bauhaus also stock quite a few different metal profiles too, in 1m lengths I think.
