Ahh brings back lots of memories. I was brought up in the area. I remember caulms wood from 50-60s completely tree less and open as far as you could see. Got the motorbike bug riding a friends moped all over the area. Tony Hewit the bike owner lived in a small cottage as you walk up from the wooden style on the left. Bet its long gone now. Lots and lots of memories. Thanks. Peter Walker
@@nigelkthomas9501 I'm 75, but even a kid the lines had been removed. Wait I'm getting ahead of myself. I believe it was called the coal rally because the was a rail line running coal to a large coal depot occupied by coal merchants. There was a gas works and Coking plant behind the viaduct and they transferred coke down there as well. It ran across Jack Lane and continued at the side of the railway arches into Dewsbury. That area was my playground. Happy Days.
Hi Nigel that was a great video off the walk and Trains that was in 2020 Lockdown Covid 19 you did Batley to Dewsbury that was a nice video.
Thanks. I had to get out; everyone needed to otherwise they’d go absolutely insane!

Thanks. Glad you liked the video!
I can remember walking from Birstall to Dewsbury on the old railway line and Caulms wood being treeless
Nice one. Part of the Batley-Birstall (Lower) line is walkable as it’s a cycle track and walkway.
Good video
Thanks very much.
You could have turned right at that viaduct and wallked on the Coal Ralley to Batley Carr.
I’ll look into that, thanks.
