I told my wife I know that Eternal Life is free, but the Bible makes it sound like it cost everything. I told her I’m not going to understand this unless God shows me. Okay forgive me the thought but..coukdnt the appeal to believers to live a life like Christ so we rule and reign with him tinged with appealing to mans pride? Is our goal on earth to do good works so we get rewards and prizes (crowns)? Why not just live a life of thankfullness and share his grace and not worry or even strive for what we might get there. Human vanity will be gone so just getting there and serving is sufficient i feel.
You don’t understand that the doctrine of rewards is commanded by Christ. Hebrews 5:8-9 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Eternal salvation here equals “inherit salvation” in Hebrews 1:14, which is a double portion only the first born sons and daughters receive. Here is a man that is in heaven Matthew 22:1-14 who has no wedding garment who is cast out into outer darkness or the darkness outside the banquet hall. This is not the lake of fire but he misses out on this special time for those who were faithful to Christ. Revelation 16:15 Behold I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, and does not walk naked and they see his shame.
@AlvinFen I've read your testimony and have a very similar experience of having spent 50 years "serving" Christ but never understanding trusting in Christ being totally convinced his work paid for all of my sins, past, present and future. Having believed as a child, I was soon rushed I to a lifelong teaching of Calvinism or it's worse, being able to lose your salvation. God rescued me from both heresies. But I understand to obey God is to believe in his son. After that is sanctification of learning to take off the flesh and take on the spirit (to live bu the spirit). This is defined in Galatians (works of the flesh). God wants us to live by faith, and be motivated out of love for him and people. To obey is to believe and to love and to preach the gospel. I've always wondered about the purpose of rewards though since we cast our crowns at his feet and we won't have ou we sin nature in Heaven that prides itself on hierarchy in Heaven. Since giving a glass of water in faith is rewardable and slander (tongue is a great fire), is of Satan, I think we will be shocked at what remains when our works are tested by his fire.
@@JokersWild139 I also went through the Calvinism, my brother being a pastor of a five-point Calvinist Church. My wife and daughter and I were members for a short time. My wife picked up on the heresy before I did. All we had to hear is the story about all the balls rolling down the hill, and God sugar coats some, and the rest He just lets go on down the hill to hell. Then another pastor said…It’s unbiblical telling a person God loves them when in fact His plan for them may be the eternal lake of fire and you would be lying to them. They do violence to the little children’s verse of John 3:16. My daughter was born again when memorizing John 3:16. She believed Jesus simple promise of eternal life. You said this: But I understand to obey God is to believe in his son. How about if you were to tell your child that…honey I have a gift for you if you will obey me. They would know something was up, it would take their attention off of the gift and on to obedience. It’s clearly not free gift language. In fact the Gospel of John where we find Jesus telling the woman at the well…If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who said to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water. It’s all about the giving and receiving of a gift. If she had already known the two things the giving and receiving would have already taken place. In the Gospel of John you find believe 100 times. You don’t find obey one single time. Why? It’s not free gift language. Also, Jesus gives us a free will. He doesn’t make us love Him, but wants us to for our own good. In eternity some will experience the reward of eternal life a greater experience of eternal life which is Christ. Just as the apostle John who leaned on Jesus breast, he had a closer experience than Peter. Peter knew it too, and he would ask John to ask Jesus questions like who was the one who would betray Jesus. All our good works will glorify Him, and He will reward us because He wants to: Jesus, And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every once according to his work. Rev 22:12
@AlvinFen I agree with everything you said but I think you misunderstood my point about obedience. For example, works trusters will tell you you must obey what Jesus says to stay saved...follow his commandments. Some will say you have to obey his Commandments. My point is we are and show obedience to God by simply believing in his son. The will of the father is to believe in him who he has sent. When we read and understand passages like John 3:16, when we believe this, we have by default, obeyed the father. Those who cry out Lord Lord and point to their works, failed to do the one thing necessary, to believe in the Son. They didn't believe his atonement was sufficient to cover all their sins.its too easy for them. To not trust in his finished work is to live in fear and doubt and uncertainty. The entire Gospel is found in John 3:16. Amazing how many professing Christians do not believe this.....they fail to obey as a result. That was my point. My only concern with rewards is many workers in the church do marvelous works, but only God knows if their heart and intentions are pure. A child giving their dad a glass of water when he is out working in the heat of the day can be just as blessed or more if given out of the purity of their heart. This is the attitude that reaps rewards in Heaven. Our focus should be to please him in everything we do out of a motivation of love and thankfulness. Some do it because they want God to give them rewards, others do it because they feel undeserving of what he did for them.
@@JokersWild139 I believe that the message has not changed that you must believe to be born again. The life is in His name NOT in His work. Without His work no one could be saved “born again.” By one saying that you must believe in Jesus death, burial, and resurrection is saying that Jesus promise is not enough. Other words this would no longer be true: Jesus said, Truly, truly I say to you he who believes in Me has eternal life. Your saying this: Truly, truly I say to you he who believes in My death, burial, and resurrection has eternal life. What does it mean in the context of the Gospel of John to “believe in Me?” John 11:25-27 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” That’s what it means to “believe in Me” in the Gospel of John, which is short hand for the purpose statement in John 20:30-31…that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have LIFE IN HIS NAME. John also says in his First Epistle…Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. How is one born again in the Gospel of John? To those who believe in His name John 1:12-13. (See John 2:11,23; 3:18; 7:31; 8:30; 10:42; 12:11,42) The Samaritans believed that Jesus was the Christ the Savior of the world. (John 4:42) That’s what they said, and they had no understanding of the cross. The Christ is the One who promises eternal life, and resurrection. I know I can’t convince anyone of this unless they have heard the voice of the Father in the Scriptures and have been drawn, and taught by Him. Jesus said no one can come to Him unless the Father gives them to Him. Jesus verifies this to Peter, and it is the “rock” a revelation of Jesus the Christ (see Matthew 16:15-20 and 21-23 to show it wasn’t to do with believing in Jesus death, burial, and resurrection that the Church is built on, also see John 10:16 who hear My voice. Paul knew this by revelation, he heard the voice of the Son of God after the Father had given him to Jesus Gal 1:11-12; 1 Tim 1:15-16; John 5:24,25; 6:44-45, 65; Luke 10:20-22). So, what about the death, burial, and resurrection? It’s the eighth sign for the purpose to believe that Jesus is the Christ the giver of eternal life. The Gospel of John was written during the Church Age, and has no expiration date. If believing in the death, burial, and resurrection to be born again John would have had to tell us, but he treats the eighth sign the same as the other seven signs..that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the giver of everlasting life. And that is what will judge a person on the last day (see John 12:47-50; Rev 20:15). Eternal life is the critical issue.
Believe that about yourself to prove that you believe with works is a devil than know yourselfThen can know why are you a devil that needs saving to get saved.Repent to unbelief to belief 🕊
Three Bible verses of God's Word to consider for Tuesday’s election: 2 Timothy 4:3: For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their ears want to hear. Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 1 Timothy 6:4-5: He is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain: From such withdraw thyself. The Secret Ballot is a God-given right in the United States of America - at least for now. NO ONE will know how ANYONE votes in this election. On Earth in the flesh, Believers will be in training as disciples and learning but will not be perfect and sinless. In heaven, Every believer is perfect and sinless like Christ is perfect and sinless. Will every believer be a clone of Christ? No.
The scripture this man is reading says the student WILL become like his teacher. Our teacher is perfect in all His ways. Can a student be like His perfect teacher and be flawed and still sin and be like his teacher? Of course not. So you added a talking point not even mentioned in this bible study.
All our good works will glorify Him, and He will reward us because He wants to:
Jesus,
And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every once according to his work.

I believe that the message has not changed that you must believe to be born again. The life is in His name NOT in His work. Without His work no one could be saved “born again.”
By one saying that you must believe in Jesus death, burial, and resurrection is saying that Jesus promise is not enough. Other words this would no longer be true:
Jesus said,
Truly, truly I say to you he who believes in Me has eternal life.
Your saying this:
Truly, truly I say to you he who believes in My death, burial, and resurrection has eternal life.
What does it mean in the context of the Gospel of John to “believe in Me?”
John 11:25-27
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
That’s what it means to “believe in Me” in the Gospel of John, which is short hand for the purpose statement in John 20:30-31…that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have LIFE IN HIS NAME.
John also says in his First Epistle…Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.
How is one born again in the Gospel of John? To those who believe in His name John 1:12-13. (See John 2:11,23; 3:18; 7:31; 8:30; 10:42; 12:11,42)
The Samaritans believed that Jesus was the Christ the Savior of the world.

Three Bible verses of God's Word to consider for Tuesday’s election:
2 Timothy 4:3: For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.
I have studied these Bible verses, and I will be voting my faith and conscience on November 5th.
What is it you're affirming - specifically , precisely , and without exception - one must Necessarily believe and Perform until death in order to be born again with endless Everlasting Life to enter His Kingdom ?
Thanks .

Do you see what I mean?
