- I review, breakdown and explain The Boys Season 4 Episode 8. I give my theories and predictions following the preview trailer and react to what I think will happen in the season finale. I react to ideas such as A-Train’s death and redemption, Butcher being out of control, Joe Kessler looking to release the Gen V virus, Homelander being alone, Starlight being held captive and Ryan’s importance to The Boys.

5.Butcher and Kessler drives into the sunset
Given recent events I’m not sure if Amazon will even upload the show. The plot will revolve around an assassination attempt on a Presidential candidate.

I think A-Train dying in this finale would be a bit premature as they still have to wrap up his arc with his family as well as fighting homelander. Logically that face off should come next season but then again they did noir dirty last season 🤷🏾♂️

I don't think we're there quite yet. I think it's gonna be at the very end of S5, where they have a Star Lord moment when his dad just casually mentions killing his mom. It's very in-character for HL to reveal to Ryan how he was created, in that same manner

I find it hard to believe Huey is so naive that he doesn't have like 10 backups of the Human files hidden all over the place.
Well the shape shifter seems to gain the memory of the person she comes in contact too. So she has a chance of knowing all the backups of the files that Huey is aware of. Unless the boys specifically butcher has a copy unknown to Huey.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I thought he was introduced in Season 3, then upon rewatch he has been there since Season 1

The final episodes of all seasons always end with scenes with Honelander's son.
1) Homelander has a son
2) Homelander's son destroys Stormfront, loses his mother and is taken away to be raised.
3) Homelander takes his son under his wing, he (the son) likes power over people
4) ?
His son will leave him. Fed up with his narcissistic behavior.
His son will adopt his dad's behavior and become more murderous. Scaring homelander.
I think Ryan will save everything and everyone and bring peace to the world without any violence and even bring homelander to Jesus 😅😂
Wonder if they will follow the comics with the black noir twist. Maybe a similar twist as vought would have to have multiple kill switch or nuclear options to control Homelander prior to Ryan even being born. It was one of the best twists ever in a comic series.
I think a better fitting way for A-Train to go is to save his brother and nephews from Homelander. This will finally prove to them that he is a hero. I think the conflict between Hughie and A-Train is resolved now, he apologized, saved Hughie, and gave Hughie compound V. Hughie himself forgave A-Train, the only unresolved conflict A-Train has is with his brother and that needs to be resolved before he die
Not gonna lie, the way this community respects and roots for A-Train to get a complete redemption arc, is one of the coolest things about experiencing this show. This seasons has been wonderful, watching all the viewers rally around him

Maybe not betray as such, but it's pretty safe to say she has her own agenda.
Here's my Billy Butcher prediction: from what we can tell given brief dialogue, the virus activates when it's exposed to compound V. Coincidentally, the tumor that's killing Butcher is all hopped up with compound V. In the finale, I predict Butcher won't be able to find a test subject for the virus, and use himself as a guinea pig. In a twist of fate, it may actually destroy the tumor and save his life.
For starlight, I believe that the doppelganger will die wearing starlight's face, causing Huey and the boys to believe she's dead

here's a twist. Neuman tries to pop Butcher's head but his tumor won't let her.
I hope starlight theory is wrong. Otherwise her screentime next season will be too long and she is boring.

It'd be cool to see if Starlight gets herself out of that trap by finding out she can tap into sunlight itself. So much light pollution that perhaps her senses aren't aware of it kind of thing and by ending up alone like that, maybe reaches near starvation she discovers that sunlight works for her powers too? It'd be poetic.
Loving the chaos that is brewing. Season 5 will truly be a wonderful spectacle of events.

It's so obvious what they're setting up. Butcher will have a chance to stab Homelander with the virus, but this will mean risking Ryan somehow. Kessler will be yelling at him to do it, Becca will be pleading for Ryan's life. At the last second Butcher injects the virus into himself, killing the Kessler tumor. Everyone survives. Except Newman, A-Train and Firecracker of course.
I don't think you can stab Homelander. If bullets bounce off Homelander, then there is no way another Supe could stab Homelander either. I sometimes wonder if the best way to kill Homelander is to inject someone in the tits so they can feed Homelander the virus.

Kessler is Butcher's Johnny Silverhand. I'm surprised no one has compared Butcher's situation to V's situation, because Homelander is basically Adam Smasher to Butcher. I see someone working on The Boys likes Cyberpunk 2077.

I believe Sage will join The Boys as it would fit the pattern of Homelander giving away allies to them , he gave away Maeve , gave away Starlight , gave away Ryan , gave away A-Train , gave away Stan Edgar and the allies he didn’t give away he either murder them or did something that lead to their deaths like Stormfront and Noir .
My theory is the sniper will shoot at President-Elect Singer and just hit his ear

The next season is the last one so the finale is going to be something insane. Because the last season has to start with The Boys in an almost impossible situation. I think it will end with Homelander in the Whitehouse having taken over America with the supes and then episode one of the final season will begin after a lot of time has passed with America and possibly the world having been under supe control for maybe a year.
I agree with this 100%, Homelander becoming the president is what it feels the season is building up to. With this being the last episode before the final season there will be tones of death, I think Singer, Ashley and Neuman are dead this episode. I also think it’ll end with the boys being on the run with Homelander putting a hit on them

Does Ryan even know that the relations between his mother and homelander were unconsensual? Wouldn't he immidiatly reject and vilify homelander if he knew that his mother was victimized by him? I don't remember if becca had an explanation why he was conceived while she was married to butcher.
I don't think Becca ever told him. She was really protective over him, and basically telling Ryan that he wasn't supposed to even exist and that he's the result of rape would be absolutely crushing to a child as sensitive as him.

I think that the season finally will prepare for an upcoming fight between Ryan and Homelander.
From the leaks Ashley takes v and her skin falls off, black Noir survives and a train never dies. Neuman dies by butcher venom, and finally Ryan kills Malory and a nurse with another person. And the whole team gets split and no one is happy but butcher. The peak hunts for Ashley btw and we see another mention of soldier boy by homelander going back in his chamber looking at him. There’s more but I don’t want to spoil it
Oh and Annie knows about Huey having sex with the shape shifter and is mad and has him get tested for any stds. And finally Annie leaves Huey by flying away from Vought military soldiers, but a new character comes that will become Huey’s fiancé and he never gets together with starlight and she realizes whats gonna happen

Theyd be foolish if they waited another 2 years to release S5.
Even if they say Ryan (in universe) ages faster than normal, he'll look like an adult when it finally releases.
Edit: and I only say that because ,narratively, it's not as impactful for a teenager/young adult to need such a father figure in his life.
It's similar to how in Star Wars Episode 1, George Lucas made a deliberate choice to make Anakin a young boy because it was much more heartfelt to have that seperation from his mother rather than a teenager/young adult being seperated.
They are gonna start filming later this year, so the age wouldn't be as apparent
@@coleyoly09if I recall correctly, S4 was done and ready to premiere for over a year. But due to the writer's strike that was going on, it was shelved.
A theory i have is Firecracker will die in the finale. Since the finale will also set up gen V. And the way when Firecracker talked about the side effects (enlarged heart) meds she needed to take to “help” homelander weirdly made me think of Marie Moreau. So maybe the Gen V cast who were locked up will try to escape Vought Tour (where i believe they are being held) and Firecracker will try to stop them and get killed from her enlarged heart being a easy target for Marie Moreau.

Need some major character deaths to reinforce some stakes in this story. Season 3’s finale put all the most destructive characters in a room and everybody survived the incident, I felt cheated. No finality w Maeve or Soldier Boy, just put them in a box off screen if we maybe want to use them later.
I concur. They should've let Maeve make the sacrifice play, depowered Homelander for 1-1,5 seasons and had Soldier Boy slip away.
In 407 they had the opportunity to quickly shove some grenades up Deep's gills and take him off the board that way.
The season finale should be bold in killing off Newman, Frenchie, Starlight, Ashley and possibly A-Train (unless they're saving him for S5).

i feel you are not understanding that this is not a movie. it's a web series. and typically this kind of web series is stretched for 10 seasons straight. this one might end in just 5 or 6 seasons

I think Neuman will die in the finale, people who can control or is getting equivalent to HL are either killed or removed.
S1 it was Madelyn, S2 it was Stormfromt, S3 Stan edgar.

I'm going to keep suggesting that Neuman caused Hugh Sr.'s stroke. That was just the impression I got from her meeting with Hughie last episode. Also I'm pretty sure Butcher's powers are a Ben Hargreeves sort of deal, based on the tentacles coming out of the Temp V rabbit in episode 5.

My first prediction is Ryan is going to die By Homelander this will be the perfect plot for Casler to convince Butcher to release the Virus
Second prediction Newman is going to be captured by Homelander and he will probably kill Zoe Sameer and Stan in front of her eyes as she can literally survive his laser vision and he also survives her attack so emotional defeat is the only option left.

With everything that happened yesterday - I’m surprised that they don’t push this air date back. Remember when 9/11 happened, a lot of movies/tv shows were pushed back or changed.

Theres a lot of posters of soldier boy in some scenes in this season, so I think he may return in the final episode or next season.
I will say this about the laptop is that Hughie was copying those files somewhere else I cant remember the exact part in the episode but even if those files are deleted he copied them somewhere else

Hughie Campbell:Hughie could take on more of a leadership role within the team, especially if Butcher is unable to continue. His relationship with Annie (Starlight) could be tested again, but ultimately they might find a way forward together.
Homelander:Homelander could be defeated or at least weakened by the end of the season. He might be forced to flee and go into hiding, paving the way for a new main villain in the following season.
4. New Player on the Scene:
The series could introduce a new villain or a powerful ally who arrives just as it seems Vought and Homelander are defeated. This new element would ensure that there is plenty of tension and unexpected twists in the next season.
I think Sage might switch sides and cure butcher since she was talking about being able to cure cancer and world hunger
if you watch when sister sage leaves homelander she throws a notebook onto the table before leaving, it had Queen Maeve on it. i thought that was interesting

My theory for the finally:
-Bobby singer would die and the shapeshifter would use starlight or hughie face to kill him
-Firecracker will die due to the heart drugs
-A-train die saving someone
I have a few predictions:
-Butcher and Kessler battle for control similar to Marc Spector/Steven Grant in Moon Knight. For this season finale episode, Kessler gains control and kills someone important (my guess is A-Train), and for the final (next) season I think Kessler maintains control almost the entire season (unbeknownst to the rest of The Boys) until Butcher gains back control in the series finale, where he gets Hughie to kill him
-Homelander kills Firecracker when she causes the planned assassination of Singer to fail. Homelander also kills Sage but she anticipates this and forces him to do so in a way that he also kills Neuman or Ryan (or both).
-The shapeshifter (likely Malchemical) becomes the first fatality of the re-engineered virus after Hughie figures out they are impersonating Starlight, with the dose being administered by Kessler-as-Butcher (against the wishes of the rest of The Boys).
The finale is going to be amazing
The weight of the viruses release is based on our connection to the supes we need more time to know these people. Plus we need a supernatural reunion Bobby and the Winchesters on screen at one time would be a huge moment.
I want Butcher to have some really cool superpowers in the final episode because damn I wonder how he killed Ezekiel
My personal theory is the notebook that sage left on the table has a fake plan that is meant to fail. Sage is smart enough to know she is a tool for homelander, so surely she had contingency plans

i feel like this current black noir will be killed by homelander in the last episode and in the final season the new black noir is a clone of homelander like in the comics
They're not making a clone, that's a stupid plotline that only makes sence in the comics because he was cloned at birth
Maybe black noir gets attacked by homelander having an episode thinking the new noir is the original and they both put up a fight and noir gets injured and mute again
This starlight shapeshifter arc is exactly like the comic homelander and Noir clone writing. Starlight is going to either prove there was a shapeshifter or start to gradually lose her mind and think she’s done horrible things.
I'd love if If Butcher is about to take the drug to kill the worm, but having a chat and basically agreeing to become Venom he's enough, just being Punisher, but What If P became V, is my favorite comic.

I imagine this scenario:
- Homelander is at a rally full of his supporters, getting cheered and praised. Suddenly on a big screen appears sister sage and the boys, and they expose homelander for who he truly is. They leave the flight 37 video, they reveal all the terrible things he’s done. The Home-steamers start to turn on homelander and then we finally get the scene of homelander slaughtering a whole group of people. He flies into the air, drenched in blood with his heat vision ready to release he lets out a roar and it cuts to black
