The officers driving in to the cabin from Chandler's county stopped and turned back. They were told about the torso found, so that proved Bart/Krista never made it to the cabin.
So disturbing that Mitchell and fiance were looking for clues at his parents' cabin while at the same time, the Dane County detectives cancelled because a torso was found, and Mitchell wasn't even told. He's allowed to continue a pointless search, along with the Langlade Co. detectives. They weren't even told.
This was an ongoing investigation. They had no idea if Mitchell was involved and they probably did not want to tip their hand. Please think about those type issues before throwing shade. Also, just because a torso was found certainly didn't complete a search and/or investigation.
It wouldn’t matter at that point either way. They need to confirm the remains and the cabin needed to be gone through anyways as that’s where Chandler told authorities the parents were. There’s nothing wrong here. For all they know they’d go to the cabin and either one of the parents would be there (the one whose torso wasn’t found). They knew nothing at this point
It's disturbing yes but the police didn't do anything wrong or cruel, of course they have to confirm everything first. It's disturbing in hindsight knowing they are on a totally pointless search while the officers that stayed back because of what we know now.

In cases like this where people kill their parents what happens to the parents property possessions etc - I mean if they've made provisions in a will would the perpetrator still be entitled to inherit? Hope this doesn't sound disrespectful its just something I was wondering while watching
It would be the same if a spouse killed another spouse. You don't get the life insurance and or other properties. It either goes to other persons named in will.
His brother inherits everything. He will be in jail for the rest of his life but regardless even when a spouse kills or tries to kill their husband they lose everything.
@@webvole If they did not have a will it is considered dying "Interstate" which means nobody gets a say as to who gets the estate or valuables (property or assets) not even the children. The estate would have to go thru "probate court" and that means the laws of that state decides who inherits what. and I believe each state has what they call "The Forfeiture Rule" or "Slayer Statue" that says a person who kills another cannot benefit from their victims assets including someone who is named a beneficiary on a life insurance policy.

He's got a fiance, and later, if he has kids... those kids will never know their father's grandparents, but will know one day that their Daddy's brother murdered them. Emotional baggage and damage? Oh, yeah. So what if Mitchell is inheriting a million. He's got a cross to bear for the rest of his life. So, so, so sad.
Mitchell won't inherit the whole million dollars anyway. Just because Chandler was convicted of their murders doesn't mean he won't still inherit half his parents estate. I don't know Wisconsin law but I'd be surprised if it was different to everywhere else in America. Edit : Somebody said I am mistaken about this.
I'm afraid most of that money will be spent on therapy ...years of it probably to overcome the tragedy ..
There’s a Slayer’s Law (iirc the name correctly). You can’t inherit from someone you murdered. No idea if it’s a state law or not, but it’s common across the U.S.
I hope in Mitchell's grief he can maintain the relationship. Such a traumatic event he will not be able to forget. Plus the thought of wondering is this kind of behavior part of him too
@@Mark-Smeaton I don't think you can inherit money from someone you murdered...there's some kind of law that prevents murderers from profiting off there murders. The officers driving in to the cabin from Chandler's county stopped and turned back. They were told about the torso found, so that proved Bart/Krista never made it to the cabin.
