Everytime she sung these songs my great granny had some sort of flashback, and for a tiny little time she was able to remember about her kids and us nephews. I think because those were the same songs she also sung to me, my mom and my grandma, there probably was this sort of connection. Even if Hector did mostly only agree to help just to have his photo up, he didn’t endanger or lied (intentionally) to Miguel. Miguel had no right to act as if Hector was the only selfish one, or being more so.
Hector lied and said he had front row tickets to De La Cruz’s Sunrise Spectacular. But I don’t get why Miguel got so mad when Hector was in danger of fading and all he asked was for him to put his photo up
8:03 Also I think Miguel was so wrapped up in the idea that his great-great-grandfather could be his idol that he didn't hear how miserable Mama Coco was sounding when she was saying "Papa! Papa!" It's been at least 90 years since it happened and she's still hurt and sad that he left her.
And that kinda explains why his Abuela is still adamant about the no musuc rule. She wasn't even born when all this went down, but she grew up first hand seeing how heartbroken her mother was at even the hint of her grandfather's memory.
The scene at the climax where he sings to his great grandma is still one of their greatest tearjerkers imo. Not just because of the stuff with her and her dad, but also because you see how his grandma had always just been trying to protect her mother from something that caused her pain. The inter-generational trauma really does it.
The cat at the end is Pepita in her earthly form - like Dante, she can move between worlds. The novelization says that in life she was Mama Imelda's pet cat, and since then has returned occasionally to watch over the family.
Watched it a few years ago and now my eyes are soaked now after watching Coco with you again. This movie is one of the best from Pixer. So good and songs are exceptional. Family forever.❤
When Disney is original I love it. Coco is one of those. It tackles another culture, it hits home with your family wanting to keep you from doing something and learning more about your family and yourself. I love Coco, it always hits me in the feels.
When the grandma breaks the guitar it makes me think of Merida’s mom throwing her bow into the fire. So sad to see fights like that, but it makes it more relatable sometimes.
When she remembers her daughter 😢 it breaks me every time. The animation done on Mama Coco is so breathtaking. I am not Mexican, but I grew up in San Antonio, TX. Surrounded by this beautiful culture, there are soo many traditions they nailed. The marigolds that lead the souls home, the offrenda, the spirit animals (the dog) and the beautiful, COLORFUL environment. Such a beautiful deep culture. I’m so glad you loved it. This is one of Pixar’s finest creations to date.
One thing coco never relinquished to the horrible terror that is dementia was her papas memory. Even for almost 100 years she remembered and that really gets me
Coco is my favorite movie. I watched it when it came out and cried. Now I come back to it every year, and uh, cry again. This move makes me so nostalgic, sad, and happy. I love it sm Also just a note, the cat at the end with Dante I think was supposed to be mama Imelda’s spirit animal, and all of them have real life forms
It’s always the most heartwarming scenes that make you cry. I love Grandma Coco singing, “Remember Me”, with Miguel!! Second time watching the animation is beautiful a top tier Pixar movie! I was rooting, for Miguel & Hector his family’s drama needed to end, so they could all be happy again! 🎸🥲👏🏼 Thank you, for reacting, I appreciate your editing plus audio glitches ❤️
I love how she only reacts for 30 minutes, but it’s like I’m watching the whole movie! This movie is my one of my favorites. You’re a great UA-camr, I support you!
34:32 one thing i noticed back then when i watched the movie is that the one wh oscanned the face thing was shocked and glad at the same time that Hector could finally visit🥹🥹 Imagine how many years that girl probably saw him try to do that scan thing but he couldnt because he had no pictures put up for him😭 i never had a good cry ever till i watched this movie
Being Mexican American, this movie perfectly captures my culture and preparations for El Dia De Los Muertos (The Day Of The Dead). How we decorate the altars, the music, the lore behind the celebration, everything. Also, Dante is a breed of dog called a Xoloitzcuintli (Zoh-loh-eats-QUEENT-ly) or a Xolo, for short. According to the lore of the Day Of The Dead, Xolos were guides to the underworld. Also, a slap from a sandal or Chancla hurts, specifically on bare skin. That's why they're so feared in Mexican culture, especially when they're wielded by an elder.
The ending made me so happy, how they reunited with CoCo and Ektor got everything he deserved. This movie made me cry especially because I am someone who loves my family. Props to the writers and the animators, very well done
I guess we're crying again. I relate to Miguel so much cause I wanted to be a dancer and singer, and I let my family talk me out of it. Now, I'm a nursing student.
I always tear up at "Remember Me" remembering my own Nana who had Alzheimer's and dementia, still thinking she was in Florida, or Canada, having dreams of visiting her late husband, talking about raising my grandmother, she was a bit of an artist, who would nit these beautiful blankets and table spreads which my grandmother has given me she was a nurse up until around her late 80s when she broke her hip and started going downhill
I am a Spanish teacher. I showed this to my 5th graders for Dia de los muertos, and I COMPLETELY forgot how sad it was!! I was sitting in the back of my classroom trying not to have any of my students see me cry! 😂
@@Thatgirlvelvette that movie is sad too! I haven’t showed that one, but I’m sure I would if I did it would be added to the tally of movies that made me cry!
A random fact to cry some more😭: at the end when Hector was finally walking with his family through the leaves, he’s finally wearing shoes. His family makes shoes and he’s part of the family again🥺😭😭😭😭
The song 'La Llorona' from what I can tell is about someone singing about their love for a woman who is always weeping, talking about what he goes through just to see her, and how he will never stop loving her. The folklore mythic figure of 'La Llorona' however is a completely different story. A beautiful young woman married a man and had two children with him. Her life (most versions of the story say) was good until one day her husband abandoned her for another, younger woman. In her rage, humiliation and heartbreak, she wanted to hurt him by taking something precious from him, so she took their children to the river and drowned them both in a fit of rage. When it was done however, she came to her senses and realised in horror what she had done, trying to wake them but it was too late. In her misery she drowned herself. Now every night she wanders around that river (or any river) weeping and wailing "Oh my children! Where are my children?" And the folklore is also that if she sees any child wandering about by itself at night, she'll mistake him or her for her own child, and will take them to the river as well to try and replace the ones she lost, never realising they're not her children until it's too late.
The song 'Remember me' My brother and I used to jam to this song together this was our favourite song sadly I lost him this week and I couldn't resist listening to this song once again, brings back all those good memories we shared together while he was here with me. I miss him a lot
27:30 Some of those who watched the movie just figured that Ernesto figured he may have had a great-great-grandson because we figure he was a total womaniser when he was alive (and protection was harder to come by in those days), we saw him flirting with one of the dancers in his final performance. I just keep imagining that there was one or two women who went to his lawyers after he died either pregnant or with a baby in their arms saying 'This is his child, don't we get anything?' (and getting nothing because they couldn't really prove it). I also bet that before they left Santa Cecilia Ernesto was always flirting with Imelda and she just found him annoying.
18:49 It's basically in the lyrics - someone who wrote the story or directed the movie said that that song was written for Imelda. It's Hector basically saying "you drive me crazy but I love you"
I love Coco, it's one of Pixar's best recent movies IMO. I'm not Mexican but from what I've heard, it depicts Mexican culture very well. I'm also a sucker for Mexican mariachi music so yeah!!
This movie made me cry. So many plot twists, funniest and saddest moments and amazing adventures. Remember me is my favorite song in the movie. Sometimes, I wish I could see my family members in the afterlife 🎵🎵🎵😭😭😭💗💗💗
I wish somebody would have warned me about this movie when I went to watch it for the first time. I expected to be touched, but I didn’t expect a whole theater of people weeping. Some people crying so hard, I was almost compelled to get up and hug random strangers. I think, as humans, we can all connect to the universal themes of love for family and remembering and cherishing those that left before us. I can’t believe your make up withstood the river of tears you shed.
So I am not a huge movie crier unless it moves me, but when this came out I took my little cousins to go see it. It was a year after our grandma, the matriarch of our family and my favorite person had passed. I was bawling when Miguel and Mama Coco sang together; I used to play guitar for my grandma and sing for/with her all the time. My cousins and I had a big group hug and cried through the credits. 🤎😭
i remember crying in the cinema when this movie first came out. The part where he talks about the ripped picture to mama coco got me shedding tears. Pixar makes some real good movies but this one just hits different idk man!
This movie was an emotional rollercoaster with plot twists leaving you confised but later the tears will come down or flow. This movie touched our hearts and really related to some of us viewers. I highly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love you too babe!❤️ And I’m sorry, but you’re gonna be crying some more. But don’t worry, I’m crying right along with you 😭🤧 And I don’t know what the next video will be yet.
This movie touched a nerve of mine which is still painful, I cried as I've never cried watching anything else, when the mom put Coco's photo on the shelf my heart broke. One of the most emotional Disney movie ever created
I watch all Coco reactions--it's my favorite Pixar/Disney. Miguel is an awesome character, and Héctor... ay, pobrecito. They just did a wonderful job, and it's also the first time I actually understood Dia de los Muertos!
The movie is SO GOOD, but Dismey tried to copyright Dia De Los Muertos, and I can't forgive them for that. I celebrate day of the dead every year (November 1st and second). GREAT VID
Rumours of Coco 2, have been announced but I’m not sure how they could do any better than the first movie, the moods and the music was perfect. I still myself cry when he sings to his Grandmother fantastic movie.
I just found your channel and I must say, you are one of the funniest and most entertaining UA-camrs I've seen in YEARS, your videos are amazing, please keep it up
What is shocking to this day for me is that he (Ernesto) made a movie based on what happened in real events where he killed off the person that pretty much wrote the music (Hector) and still made millions of dollars off it
@@SusanaCanales1 I think they are referring to how in Coco, Ernesto made a movie that became a classic but it was actually the story of how he killed Hector. I don't think that they were referring to real life.
7:31 It's the food their deceased relatives enjoyed while they were alive, they're having a party with the whole living family and are inviting the dead relatives to come and join them, so they set out their favourite foods so they'll have something to enjoy
Rukiya, Dante’s breed is a Mexican hairless dog. You see, in Mexican culture they served as companions to them warm at night and Aztec mythology they served as guides to the underworld.
I just realized when she mentioned jail for Ernesto, that there is actually police in the land of the dead. They were trying to charge Hector for impersonating Frida. So Ernesto committed a bigger crime, he tried to kill Miguel.
Imelda's spirit guide "Pepita" is an interesting combination of animals, it's similar to what is known in European and Middle Eastern folklore as a "Griffin" just with a lion's head instead of a bird's. Also the name "Pepita" literally means "Pumpkin Seed."
The sad thing is Coco had the proof of Ernesto's theft for decades but since Imelda banned all songs from the family Coco was never able to give Hector justice until now
When it's Pixar, there will be tears. It's the law. First time I saw this, I probably cried as much as you did. It's just beautiful. I've watched it several times since.
20:26 I think the issue is that she didn't have time to cry over him. He hurt her by leaving her and she felt or didn't allow herself the time to cry over her feelings because she had a business to build and a daughter to raise. And because she never really let it out, she held onto those hurt feelings and it made her bitter. Plus she seems to be a proud woman, and apart from the pain of being abandoned there was also a sort of shame to it, that is back when it happened it was a sort of form of shame mixed with some pity if a woman was abandoned by her husband, everyone whispering about her, everyone knowing who she was and what happened to her. Some people find it hard to accept pity because they find it demeaning (heard Malcolm X's mother got angry with someone working at a store after her husband was killed when the person tried to take something off what she owed him, she knew exactly what she bought was worth and wouldn't pay less because someone pitied her and acted like she needed their help), and I don't doubt there'd be some spiteful people in town who would've snickered about it, about her being just another young woman who lost her head over a musician who abandoned her. In any case, I think her point here was that she had dreams and joys of her own, and she could have gone on to sing for the world if she wanted. But she didn't. She stayed, she worked, she learned a whole trade, and did everything she could to make sure that her daughter could have a good life, everything a parent is supposed to do except she had to do it twice over because she did it alone.
"And it was caught in 4K!" hehehe It's quite rare that the main villain is taken out in the first 10 minutes of the film. 34:26 -- that BROKE me, when I saw it in theaters.
The best way to watch this movie (at least for me) is to remember that the family doesn’t love each other. They don’t hate each other, but the don’t really understand how to love. Love is simply being obedient to our matriarch. Watch closely and you can tell the family is just going through the motions of love. Miguel running away was a good thing. I knew he would eventually come back, but I think Miguel running away made the family realize that things weren’t okay. Miguel mends his family without even trying. 👍
Yes, I’ve watched this like 3 times and I still cried every single time 03:30 - I can relate, because my grandma, we were visiting her because my older brother was moving to another state and we were seeing him off, well, we were going to get pizza afterwards but my grandma was so adamant that she make us burgers, BURGERS!!! And they were good burgers too, well, she also made hotdogs too, but I had a burger but she roped around and asked me if I wanted a hotdog and I told her I already had a burger. So yeah, grandmas are like that, always making sure their grandkids are fed even though the parents are already doing the job of feeding. Don’t underestimate a grandmother who is determined to make sure you’re well fed. 19:04 - Yeah, and it’s supposed to be a love song, like you love someone so much that they make your head go crazy. Love DOES make you do crazy thing. 33:59: {singing} And they’re like, forget you-oh-oh-OH! I guess that plan to murder, and steal of your friends, wasn’t enough, and we’re like forget you. Like he deserves Note: Imelda didn’t give up her voice for a man, she gave it up for her daughter Coco, to stay and raise her while Hector went and played music
I love this movie! I may be a little bias cuz my name is Miguel and I really am a musician. Part of my job is singing for elders and when I sing songs from their time, it is very much like Coco, they start remembering things from when they were a kid and young adults etc. And this movie did a really good job depicting my culture.

100th like!!!!!

Watched it a few years ago and now my eyes are soaked now after watching Coco with you again. This movie is one of the best from Pixer. So good and songs are exceptional. Family forever.❤
Dancing while crying is the perfect explanation for coco

When Disney is original I love it. Coco is one of those. It tackles another culture, it hits home with your family wanting to keep you from doing something and learning more about your family and yourself. I love Coco, it always hits me in the feels.
Soo happy you reacted to this. Honestly my favorite pixar movie. So cultured, moving and beautiful message.
Me too!
I'm so happy I saw it too! It's such a good movie❤️

Sameee!
I like the way at the start. Rukiya was going so crazy over the music.❤
When the grandma breaks the guitar it makes me think of Merida’s mom throwing her bow into the fire. So sad to see fights like that, but it makes it more relatable sometimes.
I will say, at least Merida’s mom immediately realized she made a terrible mistake
Or King Triton with the Trident-splosions.
I love it sm
Also just a note, the cat at the end with Dante I think was supposed to be mama Imelda’s spirit animal, and all of them have real life forms
This movie is just so good! "Remember Me" gets the water works going every single time 😅
I kept crying while editing because of that song 😭😭😭
It’s always the most heartwarming scenes that make you cry. I love Grandma Coco singing, “Remember Me”, with Miguel!! Second time watching the animation is beautiful a top tier Pixar movie! I was rooting, for Miguel & Hector his family’s drama needed to end, so they could all be happy again! 🎸🥲👏🏼
Thank you, for reacting, I appreciate your editing plus audio glitches ❤️
I love how she only reacts for 30 minutes, but it’s like I’m watching the whole movie! This movie is my one of my favorites. You’re a great UA-camr, I support you!
She got great edits
I’ve cried in four movies. Coco, Nimona, Bridge to Terebithia, and five feet apart.

I hope you'll get to pursue your dreams some day! Doesn't matter if that's after achieving your family's dream for you
I always tear up at "Remember Me"
remembering my own Nana who had Alzheimer's and dementia, still thinking she was in Florida, or Canada, having dreams of visiting her late husband, talking about raising my grandmother, she was a bit of an artist, who would nit these beautiful blankets and table spreads which my grandmother has given me
she was a nurse up until around her late 80s when she broke her hip and started going downhill
I am a Spanish teacher. I showed this to my 5th graders for Dia de los muertos, and I COMPLETELY forgot how sad it was!! I was sitting in the back of my classroom trying not to have any of my students see me cry! 😂

Anyone who's into Frida Kahlo can confirm that the scene at 16:08 is the most accurate thing ever

Where are my children?"
And the folklore is also that if she sees any child wandering about by itself at night, she'll mistake him or her for her own child, and will take them to the river as well to try and replace the ones she lost, never realising they're not her children until it's too late.
Yes and the Haunting of Bly Manor’s “Lady of the Lake” seems at least partially based on the story of La Llorona too
The song 'Remember me'
My brother and I used to jam to this song together this was our favourite song sadly I lost him this week and I couldn't resist listening to this song once again, brings back all those good memories we shared together while he was here with me.

31:54 u had the best laugh lol
18:49 It's basically in the lyrics - someone who wrote the story or directed the movie said that that song was written for Imelda. It's Hector basically saying "you drive me crazy but I love you"
i never knew that, thats so sweet omg
I love Coco, it's one of Pixar's best recent movies IMO. I'm not Mexican but from what I've heard, it depicts Mexican culture very well.
I'm also a sucker for Mexican mariachi music so yeah!!
This movie made me cry. So many plot twists, funniest and saddest moments and amazing adventures. Remember me is my favorite song in the movie. Sometimes, I wish I could see my family members in the afterlife
🎵🎵🎵😭😭😭💗💗💗
29:16 now Rukiya, why are you like this 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Don, you need to expect the unexpected when it comes to my reactions okay😂❤️
i remember crying in the cinema when this movie first came out. The part where he talks about the ripped picture to mama coco got me shedding tears. Pixar makes some real good movies but this one just hits different idk man!

GREAT VID

What is shocking to this day for me is that he (Ernesto) made a movie based on what happened in real events where he killed off the person that pretty much wrote the music (Hector) and still made millions of dollars off it
This movie was not based on a real person.
@@SusanaCanales1 idiot, I was talking about the movie Ernesto De La Cruz made about how he pretty much poisoned the dude. ASK QUESTIONS!!!
@@mvltidiva lol what are you, five years old? Remove the caps and chill out.

That’s so sweet
THE WAY SHE SAID PAPA IS HOME I LITERALLY MELTED :((
Coco's smile when she hears Miguel's song, and starts singing with him, is both adorable and heart-melting omg.
Rukiya, Dante’s breed is a Mexican hairless dog. You see, in Mexican culture they served as companions to them warm at night and Aztec mythology they served as guides to the underworld.
I can never make it through the scene where Miguel is trying to get his Grandma Coco to remember her father without crying.
Not her dancing in the background of the intro😂😂😂😂 nah guys the music was fire❤
I just realized when she mentioned jail for Ernesto, that there is actually police in the land of the dead. They were trying to charge Hector for impersonating Frida. So Ernesto committed a bigger crime, he tried to kill Miguel.
Imelda's spirit guide "Pepita" is an interesting combination of animals, it's similar to what is known in European and Middle Eastern folklore as a "Griffin" just with a lion's head instead of a bird's.
Also the name "Pepita" literally means "Pumpkin Seed."
Its an alebrije.
The ending always makes me bawl. Happy tears, but gosh seeing Hector and Coco hug and then the song - just too wonderful.
As someone who has a family that celebrates día de los muertos/day of the dead, I am happy you loved it!
33:15 the tears coming out of my eyes like waterfalls 😭
Agree
Same
The sad thing is Coco had the proof of Ernesto's theft for decades but since Imelda banned all songs from the family Coco was never able to give Hector justice until now
When it's Pixar, there will be tears. It's the law.
First time I saw this, I probably cried as much as you did. It's just beautiful.
I've watched it several times since.
Rukiya an Alebrije is an animal that has died. I'm from Mexico and I absolutely love the fact that you reacted to this movie. I love your videos!❤

28:41 90s years of anger and hurt are hard to let go off.....
Why does his movies get me every time?😢
"And it was caught in 4K!" hehehe
It's quite rare that the main villain is taken out in the first 10 minutes of the film.
34:26 -- that BROKE me, when I saw it in theaters.
Not me still crying after seeing this movie multiple times, knowing what was coming 😭
That was me when editing this video 😭 I kept getting emotional near the ending even tho I knew what happened 🫠🫠

Yes, I’ve watched this like 3 times and I still cried every single time
03:30 - I can relate, because my grandma, we were visiting her because my older brother was moving to another state and we were seeing him off, well, we were going to get pizza afterwards but my grandma was so adamant that she make us burgers, BURGERS!!!
Like he deserves
Note: Imelda didn’t give up her voice for a man, she gave it up for her daughter Coco, to stay and raise her while Hector went and played music
😅😅😅
I love this movie! I may be a little bias cuz my name is Miguel and I really am a musician. Part of my job is singing for elders and when I sing songs from their time, it is very much like Coco, they start remembering things from when they were a kid and young adults etc. And this movie did a really good job depicting my culture.
oh damn the similarities lol
