    Everybody looking to do this to their car as well, go to Crutchfield and put your car into their website and choose a radio and it will suggest the proper dash kit, modules to keep factory settings, and they even give you installation instructions free when you buy the stuff.

    whats good man i'm trying to install the same exact pioneer you have in your 2012 malibu but my is a 08 but the told me i would have to get some type of module to keep my On-start and for the radio to work, so my question do you know the code for that module?

    • @ParisTheMotorhead
      @ParisTheMotorhead  10 років тому +2

      The module is the PAC OS-311, this is the one I used to retain the on star. Now if you don't want to keep on star I believe you just buy a normal wiring harness. I know a few people who didn't want to keep on star and they went that route. The radio will work fine without the module for on star.

    Quick question, I have the same car, "12 Malibu LTZ and it has the plastic woodgrain looking trim above the stereo and then wraps around the dash to the doors, same as yours, but when I bought the car it was missing the plastic trim that goes around the stereo and HVAC controls so I just bought a silver one from a salvage yard. Once I put that in, it looked nice with the woodgrain so I just decided to keep it that way. But now that I see yours, it has the same silver plastic trim around the stereo and HVAC and then the woodgrain above that, just like mine. Did you do that yourself or did it come that way from factory? Because I'm wondering if what I thought was a mismatch on my car is actually how it was from factory.

    • @ParisTheMotorhead

      Hey there. Mines was like that from the factory

      @@ParisTheMotorhead Well hell, guess I was on the right page anyway and didn't know it lol. Not that being on the same thought process of GM engineers is a good thing, because god knows I'll never understand some of the shit they do...like when you have to replace a headlight bulb on these cars. That happened to me 3 days after I bought it, and I was cussing GM designers the entire time. The only other question I have, and I'm not trying to be a smartass when I ask this, but why not just use the bluetooth in the Pioneer for both calls and music and forget about the factory bluetooth? Just seems like a redundant option to keep both, but maybe I'm missing something?

    • @ParisTheMotorhead
      @ParisTheMotorhead  5 років тому

      @@Jayhoyt32 no worries at all. That's actually a good question. I think I was just being OCD at the time lol.
      As far as the headlights. I feel your pain. I've had to do it a few times. I can do it quick now.

    • @Jayhoyt32
      @Jayhoyt32 5 років тому +1

      @@ParisTheMotorhead Makes sense man. I've done many things in my 41 years that leave people scratching their heads, and still do lol. But the headlights....once I figured out that the entire front clip has to come off to do it right, I changed every bulb in there before putting it back on. I do think it will be much easier next time though, which is good because I spent entirely too much money at Oreilly on the most expensive headlight bulbs they had ($79) as I was hoping for bright white with a slight blue tint, and ended up with just bright white. So I went back and showed them at Oreilly and they explained that the law here states they cannot sell anything over 6000k, which these are, and you have to go up to like 8000k for the blue. So, I'll be doing it again soon but this time I'm buying LED headlight bulbs online. Every bulb on the back of the car is LED as well and the difference there is insane, so much brighter and much more crisp. I appreciate the quick responses too. Liked and subscribed.

      @ParisTheMotorhead  5 років тому +1

      @@Jayhoyt32 thanks for subscribing! I wish I would have did a video back when I was installing the HID's on my 2012. I had 8k HIDs. It had the nice shade of blue and the police never bothered me. Fast forward to now I think LEDs are a better route. My 2014 currently has factory HIDs in it so I haven't touched the lights aside from the the LED bezelz. I'll have a video on that soon.

      Juan Colon with your factory bluetooth you'll need to have it set to your phone before you install the new radio. If you already have the kenwood in then put the original back in so you can get the bluetooth code it gives you. Did your kenwood come with a mic and bluetooth? If so you can just use that to talk on your phone and even listen to music through the phone. @ParisTheMotorhead  10 років тому

      No I don't. I didn't use it when I had the factory radio in. They do make it where you can add that to the radio though.

      I got a 2009 Chevy Malibu LTZ i got a few weeks ago. I got a Pioneer AVIC-Z120bt I tried to install. I got the GMOS-LAN-03 for onstar. hooked it up and got no Sound. I was told the LTZ model has a factory Amp and it is no longer turning on and i need to Tap into it. no one around here seems to know how. Do you know anything about that. Now i had this same Pioneer hooked up in a 2010 Malibu no problem with hook up. BUT... it did not have a factory Amp. Thanx

      With the particular radio I didn't install it because I didn't have any experience with double din radios or adding modules and steering wheel controls. I'm use to install single dins with no extra added to it.

    Can a 6.5" double din work in this car?

      Yes it will. The radio is still the same size the screen will just be smaller

      +Cortez P and if I don't need OnStar what harness do you recommend?

    • @ParisTheMotorhead
      @ParisTheMotorhead  9 років тому

      You'll just use a regular wiring harness for your year and car to connect to the harness that comes with the radio. It's all color coded. When you go in the store for the harness or buy it online the package will tell you what GM years it'll work for. If you want thw steering wheel controls the module will still have to be added too.
