I have a group of 8 and I can't believe how they have grown and colored up...They are gorgeous!!! Mine are so active and they are always ravenous...they eat everything. I have them with a koi angel, geo topajos, 4 alleni rainbows, Cory cats, and a large Bristlenose pleco. These are all in a 75 gallon. I highly recommend this fish:)
@@juliaheinritz3264Hey man, since you have a similar set up of fish like I do, I just wanted to ask you about the pearl gouramis. I was planning on getting three (one male, two females) so I am curious if they show much aggression? I’ve read that they are generally peaceful but I’ve had bad experiences with dwarf gouramis before in terms of aggression.
@MrTickles445 Yes I agree. Some of the Gouramis can be stinkers. I have had Honey Gouramis that are supposed to be pretty nice. Out of 3 one was such a bully, to the other Gouramis and also terrorized the H. Rasborad in my 29 gallon. I now put him in the 75 g with 'the big boys' and he's doing great! Go figure! When I was first adding fish to the 75 gallon I got two female pearls. They really picked on each other and I almost returned one to the LFS. Then as I added more fish, they calmed down. Now they are doing great! They sure are beautiful fish. Have fun!
I have 10 in my 75 gallon community tank. I ordered them on line as fry, they grew out first in a 20 gallon by themselves with filtration that wouldn't suck them up until they were big enough and they've been doing great ever since. One of my favorite species.

This video gave me some major reassurance! I bought 6 maybe 2 months ago and despite having one casualty due to an injury, the rest are doing beautifully!
Those fish are beautiful! And they look super in that tank, you're right... that scape really highlights their coloring. If I had a wish list, they'd be on it! 😏

These!! 🤩 These are on my top 5 wishlist fish. 🐟 Very beautiful tank! Thank you for making this informative video ♥️ I've been looking forward to it! 👍
I paired 6 of these guys with 2 kribs, an orange and bluish dwarf guarami and a young Angel. If the angel outgrows the tank later this year I plan on moving him over to a 55 gallon but for now the community is getting along quite well. One of my rainbow kribs is a bit dominant which is why I chose the congas over a cardinal tetra school and the Congas have held their own and have established themselves very nicely. Their color against a blue neon light at night coupled with their activity has been pleasant to watch. Great suggestion!
Never have really considered the Congo Tetras, but this video showcases them really well. May have to consider adding them to my 75 gallon SA Cichlid tank! Thanks for the video!
I have them in my 50 gallons (190 litres) since exactly one year ago, together with a Bristlenose and they are absolutely fantastic - They are peaceful, absolutely not picky about food (albeit their favourite seem to be insects and larvas: throw frozen or freeze-dried Chironomus for a feeding frenzy!), but above else their colours are absolutely stunning: my local fish shop, where I also have bought them, keep them in a planted tank with Pearl Gouramis and it's a sight to behold, to the point it make a staunchy competition for the reef tank in the same room. I actually keep the male/female ratio skewed to the latter, seems like the former tend to furtherly enhance their colours in such setting. Only problem is their size and gregarious behaviour make them unsuitable for small tanks: I'd never put them in any less than a 40 gallons / 150 litres for a species-only tank, apart from that they truly are a magnificient species, expecially for whose (like me) particularly liking small schooling fish.

Talk about a active fish that shows off some beautiful color. I don’t know if you have done a species profile on the giant danio? Have you ever kept them? This fish spawning is amazing experience. Eggs which are laid will expand and are quite large. It take 7 days for them to hatch. In course of development one can actually observed development of embryo within. They need larger tank to breed. 20 long was ideal for me. All RO water was good but if softer that that fry will not develop properly and will haplessly hop at the bottom.
My group (3 males 4 females) breed almost daily in my 75 and ive just started to catch some eggs without them getting eaten. I put them in my scud/snail tank so i hope they hatch

Love these fish. Bad news...my apartment complex is making me get rid of my 55g denison barb and praecox rainbows tank because I'm on the second floor. They're saying the floors are too weak. Question...could you keep these in a 20 long? I'm pretty sure you're gonna say no, but I'm going to get a 20 long and really do it up first class
What do you think of the Atlantis Aqua filter? It's an internal filter with sponge and biomedia container, modular to 1, 2, or 3 segments for different sizes, oxygenates the output with bubbles and is a built in wave maker. I got it and it's really great I think but have you used it yet and what do you think?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics subscribed, you've helped me a lot with this and I've been watching your videos to get an idea before I get any fish! Currently with 2 tetras waiting for my tank to cycle
Hey Jason. Came across a pair of orange chromide cichlids and got a pair in a 20 tall, but can’t seem to find out much about them. Any thoughts on maybe a species profile? I’m not familiar with brackish water fish and can they tolerate water without brackish conditions? I’ve tried to do my homework on them before I got them but couldn’t find much and had a vacant 20 tall with no center piece and found they stay relatively smaller I hope.
liked the video, but not planning to get congo tetra anytime soon.... if/when I do, i'd come back... do you think youtube understands that ? and does not penalize for leaving the video early ?
Ya know, one of my local fish stores closed for good, and the guy practically gave me 7 for free (15.00!). Right now, they are with my neon tetras in my 55-gallon planted tank.
These videos do not do justice for the colors on the Congo Tetra's, these fish need to be seen in person to really appreciate just how far the color spectrum goes with these guys. I always wondered why people liked this fish and then I was at a fish breeders house and he had a 75gal of nothing but Congo's, at first I didn't recognize the breed because I had never seen them in person, but then he told me what they were, and like I said the color spectrum on these fish is just awesome. If you're looking for a colorful schooling fish (think neon tetra, only bigger and more colorful) then try them out, you won't be disapointed if you have a large enough tank.
I think the lady that scaped this tank uses way to much wood. It looks good, but there are so many branches coming out from every where and takes up alot of space from the fish. I'm not trying to be negative, it's just my opinion. But there's so many branches sticking out that the fish could damage their fins or scrape up their bodies and damage scales. And while this scape is beautiful, I just think that it's better suited for shrimp. It's perfect for shrimp.

I have a 29 gal tall that has been cycled and was started Oct. 8th and this is Jan. 17. So I am ready to stock my tank. My question is how may could I get? I also love the Dimond and the Lemond Tetra. do I have enough room for 6 of each? Please help
I might stick with the diamond tetra and lemon and do 6-8 each. The congos might get a little large for a 29 gallon.
can you keep just males in a tank? would that attribute to too much fighting?
Sure!
The rainbows might be ok but the Roselines would need a larger tank. Sorry to hear that!
Can Congo tetras live with smaller fish like neons or Rummynose or will they outcompete them for food
They usually do ok together.
@primetimeaquatics we call them Congo Salmon hete in the Netherlands. But wat is it, a tetra or not really?
It is a tetra!
I think they go great with empire tetras.
hello, would u recommend them with German Blue Rams?
For sure!
Hello, do you think they can do well with Pearl Gourami ? 47 gallons with x6 Congo Tetra, im only looking for one male and female ? Thanks you
Definitely!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thx you really much! 🙂
I haven't used it so I'm not sure?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics oh okay, no worries, I can't find a review anywhere yet but it like like a new design
That's so cool. I haven't had them since I was in my teens so I don't really remember much about them?
Would they work well in a nano tank?
Probably not - they get too big and too active.
Funny I was just researching these yesterday vs. Beunos aires for my 75g.
I like these a whole lot more. The Buenos Aires can be really aggressive.
Do you think they work well with cherry barb ?
Its maybe a bit too big for cherry barb, they will be stress you think ?
Thx
That might work!
That might work!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thx u, have a nice day
Thinking of adding these to my 29 with upside down cats, would they do well in black water?!?!
They thrive in black water!
I figured such, just don’t know if there could potentially be some clear water spots in the Congo that they prefer
I have one female that was given to me how many males could I have ? My tank is a 75 planted with lots of other tetras.
At least 6-7 more provided your tank has the space.
Can they live in garden pond
watch out with introducing tiny fish with them. Had my big congo tetras eat small gold tetras the moment they went in!
Could I keep them in a 65 gallon with 8 Kamala Rainbows and 10 Albino Cory cats?
For sure!
What color is the Congo Tetra? I've only seen it online and seems to be a little different in every video.
Males tend to look just like you see here. Females a little less color - more silver.
liked the video, but not planning to get congo tetra anytime soon....
if/when I do, i'd come back... do you think youtube understands that ? and does not penalize for leaving the video early ?
I think it will be ok. 😀
Can they go with discus?
Might be a little warm for them depending on what temps you are keeping the focus at?
Ya know, one of my local fish stores closed for good, and the guy practically gave me 7 for free (15.00!). Right now, they are with my neon tetras in my 55-gallon planted tank.
That’s awesome!
@Prime Time Aquatics yep, the store is called aqua world. They do have another location in Ellisville (around Saint Louis)
Can i put this fish on shrimp tank..??
They usually eat shrimp
Oh so pretty 🤩
Wait, how fastdothey grow?
They are average growers
Think they’d tear up Vallisneria?
They seem to keep our short. 😀
Where to get them?
Try Flip Aquatics online.
They love coconut flakes 😊
Major Major food hogs... I struggled with mine to the point that I had to return them
I have my school of 12 in a planted 51 gallon. With 12 smiling acara, 3 Apistos, 2 Calico plecos and 5 Cory’s. It’s like you’ve all seen my tank😂
That’s a cool set up!
do they eat plant??
I haven't noticed them ever eating my plants.
Mine started spawning this morning I was surprised I need to get an egg chamber my fire mouth was snaking 😂😅😢
And just where can anyone order and actually receive male congos, guaranteed?
I'm not sure anyone will guarantee males only. You would have to go to a petstore and pick them out yourself most likely.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I haven't seen a male in a store in many years. I would like to get 3 or 4 males and 3 females. The tank isn't set up yet though.
Imagine theese in huge tank with angelfish and electric blue akaras!
That would be cool!
food, clothing, shelter, congo tetra
I think the lady that scaped this tank uses way to much wood. It looks good, but there are so many branches coming out from every where and takes up alot of space from the fish. I'm not trying to be negative, it's just my opinion. But there's so many branches sticking out that the fish could damage their fins or scrape up their bodies and damage scales. And while this scape is beautiful, I just think that it's better suited for shrimp. It's perfect for shrimp.
