    Sounds like a winner too me!! My wife an I went from 600 Polaris Liberty to 900Ace Skidoo sleds,haven't looked back.Sure,not a trail rocket,but every other category we are more than impressed. Given the price of fuel,the 900ace just sips it,and I can imagine this Polaris will be similar.For 90% of trail riders ,a 90hp 4 stroke with loads of torque for corner to corner riding is plenty.12 ,000 miles later we haven't looked back.I'd love the chance to try this new engine from Polars,and that Indy looks just fine to me.

      I don't know about sipping fuel. I currently ride an 850 MXZ TNT, I rode with some N/A 900 ace riders, and at the speeds we were going, our fuel consumption was close to identical. And I was riding a way more fun sled imo.

      @@duckdestroyer2412 when I rode my 900 ACE in Vermont where the speeds were more in the 30-60 miles per hour range and the trails were hardpack, I’d see 24 MPG. It’s fantastic on twisty trails in the woods for good long cruises. That’s where these NA 4 strokes shine best. Not as exciting, but they go forever. The sled itself will begin to fall apart before ever looking at the motor. 10,000+ miles no problem, and if you ride 4000 miles per year, that’s a pretty big deal. These Prostar engines are ideal for that market.

    Lots of trail riders really appreciate 90 hp. 4 stroke powered sleds that are fast enough to enjoy a safe ride on the trails. Many riders have been downsizing on horsepower to get a more fuel efficient engine. Fuel costs are not going down. 4 strokes are here to stay. Even 90-100 hp engines. Trail speed limits are 70km/ hr. Most of us like to cruise and enjoy the ride and don't need 180hp turbos. Thanks so much snow trax for such a well thought out, truly accurate and positive review. Polaris should be very proud of this accomplishment. Ride safe everyone.

    It competes with the 900 Ace from Skidoo for a family touring 4 stroke, that is it and stop trying to make it more than it is. The folks that buy these dont want anymore horsepower, they want fuel mileage, they dont really care about the extra weight because they are not going off trail or trying to pop wheelies at every intersection. The fact that there is a four stroke option in a matryx chassis is great and when they release the turbo version, you will see more weight and complain because it is not 250 horse right away.

    • @justflylow
      @justflylow Рік тому

      @@nateperkins7534 Polaris is good at engineering but fell short on getting the public involved in the motorcycle movement. They did not create the concept like their competitors did to make Victory as iconic as Harley Davidson. I think they saw another brand that was about the same age as Harley and decided to bring Indian into the 21st century to compete. Maybe I missed the mark on the reasons here but I know I have heard more good things about Victory than bad. I think Polaris is being careful about entering the snowmobile market with the 4stroke because they already know the competition is strong. The Heat from the engine will melt the hood and the engine goes into limp mode. 90 hp is Great but the Clutching and Top Speed with a gearing change would be nice. But Hey. You can't change the gearing just like the OLD FST Sleds. So that is Some Frustrating as well. PRAYING That the worm gear for Reserve doesn't mess up on anyone cos they are a pain to deal with. 90 HP is Probably plenty of power for most people . 87 Octane gas .. Engine should last forever. How much weight does it add, what is the MPH?
    a 270 Degree crankshaft is not well balanced. You really do have to run a counter balanacer .. 270 Degree twins are very popular in Motorcycles supposedly because they make more low and mid range torque..

    Yamaha nytro/viper 1049 - 130hp
    Polaris 1000 - 90hp
    I like Polaris as a company but this is pretty lame. Why would you buy this or the 900 Ace when they get smoked by engines that are like 15 years older. Rental sled city. Polaris and Can Am better hope they don’t drop the 998 turbo into an SxS because it’ll be game over.

      I owned a phazer. Am now riding a 900 ace ski doo. There is worlds of difference between the two. 900 ace is way better and I'd argue has a lot more than 10 hp on the phazer.

      @@chrism4351 Ace 900 is rated at 95hp. So 15hp. I’ve ridden them both. 15hp seems about right but ski-doo handled much better. That being said the comparison I was trying to make was that when it comes to 1k 4 stroke motors both Polaris and Ski-doo can’t seem to even come close to matching Yamaha. I’m sure you have your reasons for buying the ski-doo 900 Ace but let’s be real it’s not even on the same planet as the 1049 even though it has a similar displacement. Snowtrax’s said so as well.

    Computer junk , overpriced to boot. When it falls into the 1500 dollar range in about 10 15 yrs and it’s proven they were good maybe I’ll buy one. Wouldn’t count on it though because I’ll still be riding my old 2000 models. Xc Xcr. XLT s I have several of them and not one third the amount of money one of these tech crap piles cost. Can’t even find the damn engine in them after you spend a long time to get the hood off and side panels only to see a fricken nightmare under the maintenance department. I bought a small farm 30 yrs ago for that amount of money.

    Can we please stop pretending that 4 strokes are better than 2 stroke engines? They're not. Part of what has always made snowmobiling so special IS the 2 stroke engine. And Snowtrax, please lose the constant music bed over your videos and let us actually hear the machines.
