We have two 2023 4 stroke Indy sleds. Never been in snow as we did not have any last year. I wanted to verify the shifting. One sled shifted smooth. The second sled had a clunk. I put the brake on which it appears in not required. Both were at idle in a trailer just to run them and get oil and battery charge. Sleds have .1 miles on each. Thanks for the nice job you did Kole! Great work!
Thanks Kole. Nice sled. I had that X2 with S4 on SnoChk but after 3 delays I canceled and picked up an in stock 650 ADV 137. I hope to see and hear one of these S4. Nice work Kole and Co.
Great Job Kole. Sure would appreciate some intel in the area of fuel economy. I realize conditions and ride style are big variables, but can someone provide a real world range of what can be expected?
Yes I'm going to purchase a 2024 Polaris ProStare Indy S4 XC sled very soon. I prefer the 4 stroke because how reliable they are and less smell and it being quiet than makes things easier to talk to someone else
Yes I agree! I had the chance to ride on last week and they are a very nice sled they handle very flat through corners and the different drive modes make a huge difference. I hope you enjoy your new sled!
Good review, im a new subscriber. I was wondering how easy is it to change the spark plugs? They probably last longer. Also, with electric throttle by wire, is it feasible to add cruise control? Thanks
Thanks for the sub! Spark plugs are easy to change but follow your owners manual for maintenance schedule so youre not changing them too early. You cannot add cruise control on the snowmobiles, it wouldnt be safe of the trails.
Polaris doesnt offer a scratcher set up for their trail snowmobiles. The sleds are designed to cool properly in good snow conditions. The issue we have with scratchers on trail sleds is the rails dont have many options to install them and drilling another hole in the rail can cause them to become weak.
Nice job! I have a 23 titan S4 , I put 800 miles on it so far . I love it , tows the ice shack like its not there. I love how easy /smooth the clutch engages . In high range it is breathing pretty hard at 50mph not sure how many R's its turning , maybe 6kish. I feel like its geared a bit lower than it needs to be?? I wonder if the Adventure/ Matryx is geared a bit higher for the trail. Also , I assume the drive mode option is exclusive to the Matryx ...7s?? Not on the Titan/Axys, If I can shift drive modes I haven't figured out how. Thanks!
The Titan is designed for work so it has a lower gear ratio in it, but the size of the track is causing the speed reduction 20X155" track is a lot of rotating mass. When S4 is in the Matryx chassis it has a top speed of around 80 mph. Also the 7s is the only way for the computer to change through drive modes.
The new S4 is designed to run on both regular and premium fuel. From my experience premium fuel is easier on the mechanical system due to being ethanol free.
Polaris has designed this engine for cold weather so you should have no issue starting it in -30c. The Polaris off road vehicles such as the Ranger have no issues starting in the cold.
Nice rig but I think I'll stick with my proven 900 ACE. I also have a 600 ACE for my son and this S4 sounds exactly like it (no surprise since both are inline twins).
Yes they are both competing in that segment. The biggest advantage this S4 would have over the Skidoo is the Matryx chassis and its easy of handling. But to each their own!
I have 16,000 miles on a 600&900ace ski doos. Been reliable as the sun and getting excellent fuel mileage. I’d highly recommend. Kudos for Polaris putting their hat in the ring however.
Yeah its not for everybody but the market they are trying to reach at this time will be more than happy cruising this S4. Just wait until the turbo S4 comes out!

Excellent run-through. No other Polaris vid showcasing the new S4 is close. Thanks!
Thanks Kole. Nice sled.

I agree, it has an 11.5 gallon capacity, fill up the tank and drive until you’ve used 11 gallons . divide miles driven by 11 this gives us an average.
Very good review, exactly what I was wondering about the S4.
Glad I could help!
Can you do a video of breaking in the 4 stroke motor on the Prostar S4 snowmobile? Thanks!
What kind of mileage do you think it would get in sport mode?
Yes I'm going to purchase a 2024 Polaris ProStare Indy S4 XC sled very soon. I prefer the 4 stroke because how reliable they are and less smell and it being quiet than makes things easier to talk to someone else

I will very much enjoy it and ill never cell it for any other sled. @APowerSports
I'm also thinking of studing the track on the sled as well
New subscriber ,please more content on the pro star 4 stroke, recalls ect. On 23's and 2024's thanks brother
Thanks for subscribing! Love the feedback, we'll definitely work on that.
BEAUTIFULL SLED TAKE OFF IS SMOOTH .
That's awesome to hear!
Great video brother, I love idea of a 4 stroke reliability, just don't care for all the electronics possible problems? Peace Turtle
How many miles before needing a rebuild on the engine. Thanks. Nice informative video like always.😊
Never it’s a four stroke

Nice review.
Thanks!
How far trail riding can it go on one tank of gas?
Trying to find scratchers that will fit a 2023 Indy adventure S4 any insight would be appreciated.

You can probably get different shocks on it to rid a bit higher because I'm probably am going to do that to mine.
Can you tell what the fuel range is on a tank of gas, example 200 or 300 km
Thanks
Polaris doesnt show the MPG on their units, its hard to show because everyone drives differently.
is the brake disc at the same side as the chaincase?
The brake system is located on the right next to the chaincase.
@@AplusPowerSports No driveshaft in the chaincase?
Regular or premium fuel?
The new S4 is designed to run on both regular and premium fuel. From my experience premium fuel is easier on the mechanical system due to being ethanol free.
That thing sounds like a Brig and Stratton!!😂😂😂
Is there room for a turbo!!!??
Haha yes it looks like plenty of room for a turbo to be installed. I'm excited to see what they come out with soon.
But will it start at -30C?
Polaris has designed this engine for cold weather so you should have no issue starting it in -30c. The Polaris off road vehicles such as the Ranger have no issues starting in the cold.
Why wouldn’t it , not a diesel 😂
-30C is no problem it's like a car do you have a problem starting your car? Because I don't at -30C so that sled shouldn't have problems with that

It’s the same proven engine that’s been in utvs for years
People thought that Ski-doo muffler was big. This is in another world big.
That's the only way to keep it quiet. I'm excited to see what the aftermarket company's come out with!
We run is 4 strokes ....what i can tell 90hp isn't enough for these sleds
Yeah its not for everybody but the market they are trying to reach at this time will be more than happy cruising this S4. Just wait until the turbo S4 comes out!
you never ridden one then
Spoon-feeding Polaris at it again. They already have a 180 HP turbo 925cc 4 stroke.
Oh don't worry there is plenty of room under the hood for a turbo. I'm sure its coming soon!
It's coming this thing has only been out for less than 2 years.
