I didn’t know how to position my bottle of propane. I had the propane upside down and the regulator was freezing and it wasn’t pumping enough gas into the griddle and it was turning off. Thank you for showing me how to do it right. It’s working great now and I’m currently seasoning it
xImmortalTechnique no problem. I truly didn’t know there was a difference, but this one has been great so far. ESP since I’ve hooked it up to a 20# tank.
@@kevincameron8437 The only difference I've seen between the adventure model and the normal one is that the normal one is chrome and has the grease catch in the front.
Man, I would have put that cooking surface in the sink, run hot water on it, then scrub with soapy water. They probably put a protective oil, wax layer on it to keep rust off. With carbon steel pans, that is a must. Just sitting in a warehouse it with start rusting. Would be sweet it that top could be carbon steel vs. rolled steel, carbon steel heats fast and even, much more so than cast iron or rolled steel. It's amazing how much smaller the 17 looks over the 22. What is the weight on the 17? The 22 weights 50 lbs. That 1 lbs tank hook up sucks. I realize they want it on a 45-degree angle to stop icing up the regulator, but a flexible hose like the 20 lb tank and a 45 degree cradle for the 1 lb tank would have been nicer. Try installing wind guards to cut down side heat lost. Probably a more of a concern in installing say in the back of a tear drop camper, to use in the back, where space is tight. Blackstone fueled by gas, owner by coffee, sweet.
Thank you for the video. Thinking about getting one for our camper. Do you like the drip cup on the back. Noticed they sell a similar model with a built in drip pan but its $25 more.
Travels with Delaney Since this is the only Blackstone I’ve used, I like the grease tray in the rear. It makes scraping towards the back easy and ergonomic. Depending on that I cook, I don’t have to empty it that often, as it’s quite large. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Thanks for the upload got this for my birthday. I’m worried about the grease can getting hot, spilling and leaking between the grill and catch can have you had any issues?
Osbaldo Gomez thanks for the comment. After many hours of use, I haven’t experienced any of that. The grease tray stays very secure on the back and the flame isn’t really anywhere near the grease tray.so as long as you don’t violently tick the griddle, you shouldn’t have any issues.
Donny, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm glad you figured out about your bottle positioning. As far as storage, you can leave the bottle connected and all should be fine. I hope this helps, Kevin
I have a 17 inch griddle, I just oil it up and throw it in my oven on 425 = to medhi heat and bake it for an hr the same way i do my cast iron skillets upside down with a sheet tray underneath just in case oil does drips, to me you just wasting a lot of propane and lot of work to me, I'm a retired executive chef. Multitasking was my priority in the kitchen for me. Get it done.
Thanks for watching and replying. What you’re experiencing is prob a gas lock. Shut off and disconnect your bottle and griddle. Then VERY SLOWLY, open your bottle and try again. If you’re using the small bottles, disconnect the small bottle and then slowly reconnect the small bottle. Sometimes when connecting that bottles, an air pocket forms, blocking LP from reaching the griddle. It can get frustrating, but don’t give up. Thanks for watching.
Hey Kevin, Good video. I'm wanting to get this unit. I have a 28 inch at home and I love it. I don't even use the stove anymore. Lol. I can use this one for my fishing trips and camping. Are there things you wish were better? I'm concerned about the wind. Does the wind blow the flame out easy? I will be outside with this one. My 28 inch is on my porch so there's no wind. I have a channel as well if you would like to subscribe. You have anew subscriber now. Thanks you
Jimmy Eets thanks for the comment. So far I haven’t had any issues with the wind. I run mine many in high, but there might be issues if you run it lower temps. As far as improvements, I can’t think of anything right now It’s a well built griddle.

Mine's doing the same thing is freezing up
I did this same thing my first time
Well this vid is 4 years old ~ but thank you for it! I just got one of these little Blackstones & I wanted to get the seasoning right.
Glad it could help. These little griddles can cook for quite a few people. Thanks for watching
Va multumesc pentru ajutorul domneavoastra prieten
Very nice video. A lot better than reading the instructions. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
I think you are supposed to wash the machine oil off before seasoning, unless they changed the instructions
Nice job Kevin. Excellent review. Thanks.
Nice review on the newer model
Alex Nava thanks. The more I use this the more I love it. Just took it camping with us for 2 weeks and it’s awesome for breakfast!
Thanks for the video! This was the only video I could find of the "adventure" model from Walmart. Thumbs up.

That would be great, camping! Thanks four sharing!
It is great for camping. We always take it with us. Thanks for watching.

Definitely get a adapter line. It's well worth the 12.00 dollars.
Oh, I did shortly after this. Definitely a game changer. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching.
I got the black stone griddle cart so everything has a home. Is it OK to leave the little propane canister attacked when it’s not in use?

Found this at my Walmart today for $54. This video will help. Thanks
Mike Hammock Mike-That’s a great deal and I hope this helps. The more you use it, the better it gets.

U leave it on 425 the entire hr? I do the same, just not as long. Have u tried the blackstone griddle conditioner?
Man o Man thank u for this...its exactly what I was looking for seasoning the 17 in in the oven...save propane use...
On average how much cooking time do you get with one bottle of propane?
On the small bottles, I get about 1.5-2 hrs of cooking on it. I now have the 20# tank adapter which works better for home and camping.
How close to the house can you have it without burning the siding?
odd question , if i cook a steak on the griddle then put it under a melting dome with one lit briquet would it give my steak a bbq smoked taste?
D thanks for watching and for the question. I personally do no think it would add much of anything. But I’ve never thought about it or tried it.

I've done everything you did and it won't come on

Use less oil for seasoning.
Your doing it wrong bud. Let the surface change color first then apply oil. Let the oil burn off and repeat without turning burner off. 4- 5 times
