My guy the reason Xbox started focusing on game subscriptions was because they noticed a decline in sales for their console years ago so they made this plan and eventually implemented it into their business because their sales were already on the decline when the ps5 released it became the number 1 console to be sold other than the ps2 which is the most sold console to ever exist Playstation has always been above Xbox until the xbox360 released then Sony and Microsoft became rivals but their rivalry didn't last that long cause after ps5 got released it blew Xbox sales out of the water forcing Microsoft to look into alternative solutions like game subscriptions even the CEO had said that Xbox sales were miserable so they just gave up and focused of other things

Horrible take. Xbox should NOT REGRESS into limited platform availability. We as consumers should press Nintendo and Sony into also releasing their games on PC, which would even the playing field. This would also create a more enjoyable experience for everyone and would get games sold to people who otherwise may not be able to afford an entire console. Furthermore, I don't buy games that release on PC with delay, simply because the stories have already been spoiled for me.

They are looking for a sustainable future, where they release their games for broader audience, so they don’t have to rely on hardware, plus cloud gaming is in the game. Hardware is the most expensive part of their sales, and they want to minimize that. While Sony and Nintendo are focused on Short Term success like Great exclusives, and great hardware. Microsoft is playing the safer game, and they are putting themselves in a good future. When something happens, they can adapt easily due to their business model.

Looking at Jacob's previous video on this topic and the many comments disagreeing with him, I think the problem with XBox making their would-be exclusives cross-platform is that while it would be beneficial to, consumers in the short-term but in the long-term this is beneficial to us only when all the other companies make their own exclusives cross-platform, at the same time. You would need Sony and Nintendo to put their exclusives on XBox, in which case everyone wins, otherwise it will just kill the competition for game development and XBox decision would be short-sighted and stupid.
That's what the PC market is for. They should stop treating the PC market as a competitor and just start releasing their games on there. If not people are just going to emulate it. There are so many switch emulators and a new PS4 emulator. People are just going to pirate games for free. So why not just release it to the PC platform and make even more money.

I feel like another reason Xbox isn’t getting many sales is because of the quality of the consoles. Like they are actually pretty good and last for like forever. I’ve had my Xbox 360 for more than a decade and it runs fine and my I think 8 year old Xbox one also runs fine. It’s like how lightbulbs used to last forever but because of that lightbulb sales went down so they nerfed the bulbs so people would have to buy them more often.

That's why it wont matter if a PS5 Pro is $700 cuz that makes the PS5 cheaper. Thanks Jacob, i knew switching to PlayStation after the 360 was a good idea. Had an Xbox one but if always felt like I was missing something. Real Games other than Halo falling off and Gears of war carrying the Xbox other than the weak ass game pass. I'm not getting a PC, the ports are ass too unless it's from Sony and don't feel like getting scammed. Steam aint it for normal people, Streamers and Tubers understandable tho
X box sales where way down long bevor the new strategy. X box games studios only releasing mid games or buggy mess dident help either. I feel like another reason Xbox isn’t getting many sales is because of the quality of the consoles. Like they are actually pretty good and last for like forever. I’ve had my Xbox 360 for more than a decade and it runs fine and my I think 8 year old Xbox one also runs fine. It’s like how lightbulbs used to last forever but because of that lightbulb sales went down so they nerfed the bulbs so people would have to buy them more often.
@@creepergaming3445That makes little sense to me, I mean my PS2 and PS3 are still functional, yet I ended up buying the PS4 and PS5. I bought them for the games and next gen power...though I am disappointed with this generation of PS5. It's frankly all about the games, which is a reason why I also own a Nintendo switch cause I enjoy playing their games.

@@creepergaming3445their biggest reason is gamepass and Xcloud. They know exactly what they're doing and trying to focus on the software side over hardware sales since that's where the real money is at. Console manufacturers sell their consoles at a loss and make up for it in software sales. Except for Nintendo of course.

What makes more money? 150-ish people buying a console a day, or 15,000-ish people buying games a day, now personally I think that the second option would make more money, but that is me.

To be honest, I'd argue that PlayStation’s strategy is fleeting and wouldn't benefit Xbox if they copied it.
Xbox fan will say "literally playstation has no games all they have is spiderman lol" while we have many games coming on ps5 and there is many master pieces on the old ps consoles, and when we say to Xbox "what games do you have" they bring up a game pass 🤦♂️
They're pushing this cloud BS too far. Willing to bet that this apparent "Xbox handheld" coming in 2026 will be a crap wifi only console that everyone will forget about the week it comes out.

Honestly, you guys should forget about exclusivity. Just keep consoles for a cheap alternative for pc for multiplatform games, which are majority right now, if you dont own modern gaming pc. Except ps5 pro, yeah, don't buy that, it defeats the purpose of console being cheap.

We need the competition between Sony and Microsoft, monopoly is never good for the consumers. Already ps5 pro is a big example why sony needs the push from xbox!
At first I was like, pfftt, gamepass... How is that gonna compete with PlayStation..
But when I started I can't stop. It's addicting. The Idea of having lots of Xbox IP's and just paying yearly to have them available is little but insanely consuming once you get into it. And It's gonna be there for a very long time....even after consoles have aged out

Yeah they forced Xbox into a 10 year contract with them to not make them exclusive. I think cod is coming to game pass though. So there's still that.
