I was told this recording was on UA-cam and I had to check it out. I was the one who recorded it! You can hear me and my buddy at the end going wild about Dickey. It was a great moment to capture live. I was a huge fan of the previous times Dickey had joined Bob on stage (Sarasota 1992, New Orleans 1993; the latter of which I attended). When they launched into "Ramblin' Man" it was transcendent. They nailed it. Great show at the USF Sundome.
How did you record it? Were you in the audience? Did you make copies for other people and that's how it got on UA-cam without your knowledge. At the time, I had no idea this was such a momentous moment. I didn't know I had just witnessed a piece of history at my very first Dylan show.
@@damianrudegeair3064 I recorded it with a DAT recorder and stereo mics. Was in the audience. Left side of the stage on the floor and about half the way back. I circulated it not long after the concert, so it has been "out there" for quite some time. Not sure if anyone else taped it, there might be a better source out there than mine. Sarasota '92 is one of my favorite Bob Dylan tapes of all time and the guest spot by Dickey is incredible, so that's worth seeking out, too.
@@merlebuck Wow. That's about where I was in the audience on the floor. I tried to hear if I could hear myself but don't think so. Haha. My friend and I were yelling "Rainy Day Women!" like buffoons.
Thank you Otis Gibbs for sending me to this video. Bob Dylan loved Dickey just like me and you! Welcome to that great gig in the sky Dickey and keep shining your light on us!
the guitar riff 2/3rd of the way through this song is the best in history. It is so friggin clean. Thank You DB...May God Bless and keep you....Rest in Peace
This is somewhat off topic... Went to see Hot Tuna in Portland in '90s?? Opening band wasn't paying attention. But I said to dude next to me, this guitar player sounds like Dickie Betts. He says it's Derek Trucks. Ahh!! Jorma had him come out and play with them. Very cool. Special night.
This video deserves take a seat between all this '' Play me ,,,'' that Dylan relates in his very new song Murder Most Foul . I suposse u know too that Dickey Betts' son , a 12 years old , played with Dylan on stage . He plays a keyboard ... (It's not a request only a wish)
Sorry , he is another member Allman Brothers Band , Butch Trucks (not Dickey Betts) , and yes , his 12 years old son played with Dylan the slide guitar on two songs in Clearwater (Florida) 1992 .( my hard.mind -disk fails a lot too) ... (my wish remains)
@@blackcrow7049 I have it in my files but the Tunestotube service is temorarily unavailable...as soon as they are II'll upload Everything Is Broken, one of the tracks he plays on
Not a long time Dylan fan, only 30 years but one thing you often hear is, I love his writing but he can't sing. I may have even said it before I "discovered" him. I have given up trying to convince anyone, and certainly he can be bad live, but man if you can get into him you'll find he's actually quite talented. Here in his verse, he hits all the notes. And he does try harder on covers, especially if the writer is playing with him! I saw him about 10 years ago in St Paul and Bobby Vee was in the audience. He said some nice words and the played a one of his songs. He hadn't had his best voice that night, but he did for that song. He doesn't have an operatic voice, but fits his sinning for the song. He was able to croon a little when younger and did in 2013 for Bobby Vee. Maybe l just love the songs so much I forgive his singing but mainly i just think it's too bad if you don't, these songs have brought so much enjoyment to me. Oh, I love Dickey & the AB as well, all good things said about them I agree with.
Otis Gibbs mentioned that Dickey and Bob did Ramblin Man. Glad to find a version on UA-cam 😅
Saw the same.
Meeeeee Tooooo 👍👍🙏
I just saw the video, thank you so much for this!🙃🙃
Me, too. Last week, that is. Otis read a portion of Bett’s memoir.
That first solo is soars beautifully. Betts’ playing is so melodic.
Man Betts played beautifully- so nice to hear him with Bob.
Yes I agree real beauty sounds best
Otis Gibbs sent me looking for this. Unbelievable!!

He sings pretty nicely too.

Dickey Betts says this is his favorite version of his classic song.
Dickey Betts has the best sense of melody; love everything about his playing, writing and singing.

Sonds like one of those guitar solos might be Dylan. Anybody know?
Who plays second lead solo? Plays it beautifully.
JJ Jackson I presume.
I'm not sure, but Dylan played A LOT of his own solos at that show.
@@tommybell1786 hahaha, yes, he did play his little solos, but this is not Bob playing here
its Bob
