The first time I heard her was on the radio and my thought was, "Wow, I never heard this Janis Joplin song before and Bonnie Raitt sure is singing in perfect harmony with Janis." Later I learned about Susan on guitar.

Do you remember that random girl, with a hat, who took the scene with bravura. His guards tried to make her leave, but Bob is the boss, he wanted her to stay. Yes Theresa, you got it. I know many "famous" musicians and I've sat with them, just the 2 of us and at public appearances, talking about things other than music. But when they hit the stage, that's when they shine. And, when you know them and they're on stage playing ,you can see when they're having fun playing with other great musicians it is a joy. They love playing for people and they really appreciate the fans; that is the ones I know. I have met some, however, that developed that snobbish attitude. Those are the ones that I avoided from then on. The ones that I've known over the years and stay in touch with are the genuinely nice people. They are humble and most don't know how great they really are. But I love to see them having fun and laughing and playing with other great musicians.
Cooler than this fun, cool, historic video is the back story. In 1988 a little boy, walking to the neighborhood sandlot to play baseball with his buddies in Jacksonville, stops at a yardsale and buys a used guitar. He was nine. Two years later he's on stage with Bob Dylan, playing "Highway 61 Revisited". At 20 he's a guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band. Opening for the band that summer of 1999, was that incredibly cute, and well regarded singer Susan Tedeschi. They meet. Derek is impressed with her record collection, and they fall in love. Three or four months later, Susan, not to be outdone by her new boyfriend/future husband, is on stage with Bob Dylan, playing, (what else?), Highway 61 Revisited.
I love Derek Trucks!!! And was amazed at his 12year old guitar playing skills. His wife is good too. Wondered how they hooked up. Dylan is a great songwriter, but i like it when others do his songs. I have seen many great artists perform with him tho!! 💜
Possible spoiler: Derek is the nephew of Butch Trucks, original and long-time drummer for the Allman Brothers Band. (Just saying it wasn't simply a serendipitous guitar purchase combined with miraculous career breaks.)
And of course, Susan and Derek have one of the best bands in music. I often thought that if Janice reincarnated it would have been as Susan. What a great joy this video is.
I can not believe I came across this. I was 25 feet from the stage. Susan seemed to have a crush on Bob that night. Bob really performed at his peak again mid to late 90's. Great memories.
Funny to see tweenty years after the young Susan playing with the Master! She looks so shy, impressed but happy. For sure a great experience for her and he looks happy too. Nowadays Susan covers always a song of Dylan in the tremendous concerts of TTB she gives all around the world!
She's a pearl, shining, cute and happy to be in the music with maestro, and then of course she's a true guitar player. I've seen this clip over and over. Did't know her. Exiting.
I've watched this quite a few times now. I commented once before (can't find it). I think this is one of the best bunch of rock guitar riffs (duet!) ever, right up there with Clapton and Hendrix. Really fun too.
Haha! I remember driving from Connecticut to Newark, DE only to see a sign the show was cancelled due to Dylan's Grammy appearence. My reaction? I drove back home to watch the Grammys!
I have loved her and her music for years so don't take this the wrong way but she's adorable in this video. She seems really thrilled to be on stage with Dylan.
Whenever someone at work would ask if I could do something (I wrote software for a living) I'd always answer, "Well yes, I think it can be very easily done..."
@@perstorbye6213 That's Bob. One of the great things about going to his shows is trying to figure out what song he is playing before he actually starts singing, and sometimes, if he has really changed it up, it isn't until he hits the chorus or refrain that the song is revealed. One can imagine how boring it would be, being on an endless tour as he is, to approach a song the same way every night. The variety is one reason his concert bootlegs are so great!
Sometimes Bob is way serious and sometimes he can be fun. I have seen the serious side live but I like the fun side Susan Tedeschi brought out the fun Bob on this version of Highway 61.
Bob Susan Tedeschi - Dylan - what a pair! In all of the live videos here both of them are always very focused on their music and appear more introvert on stage. But here - I don`t know what funny things they smoked before their performance - they have a lot more fun as they usually show on stage. Very enjoyable to see how they let their hair down!
I remember seeing Derek Trucks at Skipper’s Smokehouse in the 80s. Just a kid.
Thanks for the back story.
I live in Delaware and wish I had gone to this show.
And of course, Susan and Derek have one of the best bands in music. I often thought that if Janice reincarnated it would have been as Susan. What a great joy this video is.
Amazing and grateful.
Bass player is thunderous -- holding down the fort. Dylan completely at ease jamming and bringing Susan Tedeschi along for the ride
I first saw Dylan at the Hartford Civic Center in November 1975. I will never forget it.
The Zimm is laughing ... wow! Great show ...
Love watching Susan pick this up. Great musicians just having fun. Whew.
Enjoyed that. Enjoyed Bob enjoying that.
I can not believe I came across this. I was 25 feet from the stage. Susan seemed to have a crush on Bob that night. Bob really performed at his peak again mid to late 90's. Great memories.
If I only heard this, I’d say pretty good. Video puts it right there with the best. I’ll be smiling today!
Susan is so, so , so Cute. And of course a Great Guitar player and song writer.
Fantastic song brilliant upload my friend Thanks
Remarkable and fabulous. Heaven on Earth.
great - only great - thank you for this performance
Funny to see tweenty years after the young Susan playing with the Master! She looks so shy, impressed but happy. For sure a great experience for her and he looks happy too. Nowadays Susan covers always a song of Dylan in the tremendous concerts of TTB she gives all around the world!
She's a pearl, shining, cute and happy to be in the music with maestro, and then of course she's a true guitar player. I've seen this clip over and over. Did't know her. Exiting.
I swear to god that Bob was getting ready to duck walk. But the song ended before he could.
I've watched this quite a few times now. I commented once before (can't find it). I think this is one of the best bunch of rock guitar riffs (duet!) ever, right up there with Clapton and Hendrix. Really fun too.
nonsense.
I really love this, but heard nothing like Clapton and Hendrix. 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome, thank you! I was at this show after it got canceled in Feb. '98, so Dylan could sing Lovesick at the Grammys.
Haha! I remember driving from Connecticut to Newark, DE only to see a sign the show was cancelled due to Dylan's Grammy appearence. My reaction? I drove back home to watch the Grammys!
she's having a great time, love collabrations
I have loved her and her music for years so don't take this the wrong way but she's adorable in this video. She seems really thrilled to be on stage with Dylan.
She is adorable.thanks
Would have liked to hear her sing. I love her exuberance for the guitar but her voice is what absolutely slays. Especially on material like this.
It was Bobs gig man......she is so lucky to be there. And she did well........brilliant.
Not brilliant, not amazing, just fun! Thanks for posting. It's good to see Bob laughing and jumping around a little!
Lo vi tocar hace años en México, fue fabuloso, excelso el maestro Bob Dylan.

Can't understand a word after the first 3 lines &, "Highway Sixty One" and I still still didn't want it to end. That's some fine music!
This is fun to watch. Dylan really relaxed here.
So great, seeing them having so much fun
Though Susan Tedeschi can certainly rock, on this one, I think that's Charlie Sexton doing the heavy lifting on guitar.
Yeah, I was looking to see who was really playing all the good stuff. He only appears briefly at the end. Audience never knew.
Absolutely and we can’t see him… drats… they should all been toe to toe with Dylan in the low down pocket .
Epic Performance……Hard to know how it could be any better ❤
Bob is so gracious! God Bless him!!!
First time for me this version. Takes my breath away.
Perfect example of Bob speaking in tongues. No big deal. I know the words. And Susan was happy to be there.
Love Susan! Seen in Utrecht.. Netherlands.. Tedeschi/Trucks.. Wow!
Was he actually having FUN ? Got to be the Tedeschi effect!
Nothing like a little pussy to motivate a guy!
It's a good thing I've known all the words since 1965.
Thanks Ken. Yep, we've been Dylan fans for 50+ years, and he still can't sing. LOL.
gave you a THUMPS up i guess DRUNK don,t know WHEN,,,,,but FUCK IS YOUR COMMENTAR FUNNY-=)

Whenever someone at work would ask if I could do something (I wrote software for a living) I'd always answer, "Well yes, I think it can be very easily done..."
I went to a Dylan concert a few years ago. He played this but it was totally different. I prefer the original.
Susan était déjà une great performer et cela est prouvé avec le groupe TTB. Bravo
I was there. Opening the Bob Carpenter Center at the UofD. Susan tore it up!!!
Sometimes Bob is way serious and sometimes he can be fun. I have seen the serious side live but I like the fun side
Susan Tedeschi brought out the fun Bob on this version of Highway 61.
69 years old now and just discovered TD . 4k lps and cds and only now find this.
Priceless!
I was at this show. So great to see it here.
Awesome. Love this tremendously. A lifetime favorite.
Every once in a while Dylan show a lot of emotion. It's rare but great to see when it happens.
Absolutely fantastic 🙌
Bob Susan Tedeschi - Dylan - what a pair! In all of the live videos here both of them are always very focused on their music and appear more introvert on stage. But here - I don`t know what funny things they smoked before their performance - they have a lot more fun as they usually show on stage. Very enjoyable to see how they let their hair down! GIve us more! Thanks for posting.
INLOVE WITH DYLAN;) he's sexy voice mixed with his shy mannerisms keeps him forever young. Dylan is forever beautiful....like freaking beautiful. How the universe made such a masterpiece is awesome to me....good job universe, I'm proud of ya!
Sure, Universe. And Universe’s Creator.
Me too. Thank you Tedeschi highway
That just made my day!
Great version. They both look so happy too.
Great , I like songs with a lot of guitars
Awesome Sauce. Thank you.
It may, as James Brown pointed out, be "a mans world"......but Susan Tedeschi can hold her own in it.
Great Year, I think it was the state fairs tour too and he was kicking ass. This is a great cut.
This is Robert Zimermann, 2017 Nobel prize of Literature!!!
Listen to his "Saved" album. He sings: "You can call me Bob, or you can call me Bobby, or you can call me Zim, or you can call me Zimmy".
you can only image how Susan felt to be playing with Dylan - and it shows - pure Joy!
and vice versa
She is throughly enjoying herself whilst rocking HARD.
just love seeing Bob enjoying it!
