@@CVTECK1 Blackadder covers 4 Series and 500 years of English History. It was voted the greatest UK Comedy of all time and was made 40 years ago. It, not only , stars Rowan Atkinson in various forms of "Blackadder" but Hugh Laurie, who was a comedian and musician who was the lead in HOUSE as Gregory House. Ricky Gervais co-wrote and starred in the original "The Office" 20 years ago and sold it to 80 Countries. He hosted the Golden Blobes 5 times until 2020. Don't bother with Season 1 of Blackadder but Series 4 is fantastic with the greatest ending of all(don't watch that last episode to the very end) It is set in World War 1.

@@CVTECK1bother with season one. It's hilarious. It's just different to the other seasons and the characters are different. But each season has different characters but with the same name and actor. But you won't know that until season 3, if you want to skip S1. 🤔

The lady is national treasure actress and straighter talker Miriam Margolyes. She's appeared in lots of movies over the decades but probably recently know for acting in the Harry Potter movies. There are compilations of her stories especially on Graham Norton. Let's just say she's lived a lot!!!

Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) This is a series called Blackadder, and there are multiple episodes set throughout history. They are brilliant.

The Fawlty Towers clips are from the episode "The Germans". It was made in 1975, only 30 years after the end of WWII, so still sensitive for Germans, hence "Don't mention the war".
The 1967 film clip with Charles Hawtrey about the French Revolution is "Don't lose your head". It was the 13th of the 31 "Carry on" comedy films. First of the series made by Rank that originally didn't have a "Carry on" Prefix title. It's a spoof of the story of the classic story of "The Scarlet Pimpernel". Very British like Seaside naughty cards. The comedy in those films was full of double entendres where it's the film viewers who think things are rude even when they are not.

John Cleese is the most repeated guy here. When the ashes were kicked over the comedy team of Monty Python was being interviewed, and Graham Chapman (the best actor among the troupe), who was one of them, had passed away. (Cleese doing the Eulogy is priceless). The Pythons were masters of absurd humour throughout the TV series. They have also produced three movies, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Pythons Life of Brian, and Monty Pythons Meaning of Life. There is also a compilation of sketches in Live at the Hollywood Bowl. Cleese was in some Bond Movies, and A fish Called Wanda with Michael Palin (one of the Pythons), Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Kline. Cleese (along with one of his now ex wives) Connie Booth wrote and played in Fawlty Towers. All of which are worth watching. As for the rest of them, all have had stellar careers, in comedy and film, and Terry Jones who tended to direct, also wrote academic history books. All very talented.
Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) was in Blackadder which ran for 4 series spanning a large bit of English history. He was also in the Johnny English movies, as well as doing odd bits of stand up. And was a member of the troupe in the TV sketch series Not the Nine O'Clock News. Also very funny.
And Miriam Margolyes. Well everyone loves her. A national treasure. I suspect everyone will tell you what she's been in.

John Cleese who was talking about his ex wives is an iconic comedian in U.K. He first came on our screens in Monty Pythons Flying Circus, then in a comedy series Faulty Towers
John Cleese is the tall guy with the moustache. He was one of the Monty Python's Flying Circus team, one of whom had died in that clip. He was famously as an incompetent hotelier in Fawlty Towers. He has made films too. Fish Called Wanda was one. It's hard to follow when you don't know the shows they come from.

Ricky gervais the man on the phone did the original office series .which was then recreated for American TV and was quite successful. I personally played Ricky davace's character was in the 40-year-old virgin but I can't remember his name.

Fawlty Towers, Blackadder “goes forth”, till death us do part and the office are superb British comedies. When Alf Garnett goes into the local shop to buy his tobacco and the shopkeeper tries to get Alf to pay his recently deceased wifes’ outstanding bill. It is so full of things you could never say today.

The "older lady" Miriam Margolyes was in Harry Potter amongst a lot of other films/plays. John Cleese was in Monty Python etc and recently in James Bond playing Q. The other one you forgot was Ricky Gervais.
Ricky Gervais is the man on the phone, John Cleese is the one with the bandage on his head and he's a famous comedy actor here. Miriam Margolyes was on the Graham Norton Show, the lady at the beginning (they chopped that up too much, there is more context to it). The fat fighters one is from a programme called Little Britain.
Also if you think that Australian comedy is brutal, where do you think they got their sense of humour from?
The ashes were Graham Chapman. He was an original member of the Monty Python team. Some consider him the funniest. They knew he would love a gag like this. Still getting laughs after death. R.I.P. (when heaven stops laughing)

He was a part of Monthy python's Flying Circus imho where all modern british humour originates from .. the scene with the dead/ ashes... they talk about their former member of MPFC Monthy python is a must watch .... Blackadder is also absolutely a must watch comedy that is situated through many different time periods... Monthy Pyton movies the holy grail, life of Brian , the meaning of life.... Rowan atkinson movies , ofc all the mr bean ones and Johnny English ...
In the very early 1960s "This Is The Week That Was" was the precursor for Monty Python. That was the original TV satirical comedy show, which had writers that included Roald Dahl, John Betjemen, Graham Chapman and John Cleese and a cast comprising, among others, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Willie Rushton, Roy Kinnear and David Frost.
Prior to that there was quite a lot of radio comedy including Round the Horne and The Goon Show. These really set the bar for the kind of anarchic comedy by the Pythons.

I find Ricky Gervais’s stand up to be too bitter and self-congratulatory, tries too hard for outrage, and lavishes in his own, self-attributed cleverness. His best work, for me, is with his various TV Series. He’s got talent, but it’s better delivered in this format.
