i love the idea of a horror version of simcity type games, you should be a godlike being yet you still fear for your safety
Frostpunk but water
Be cool if you placed a light in a completely dark area, when you put power to it, tendrils would pull away into the dark. It would just be a neat effect just to add to the fear. Also if you left a build in the dark for long enough yellow lights would appear around the build and when you turn the lights back on it would show those lights were actually glowing eyes on the ends of the tendrils, like they were observing and studying you.

Hey IGP, I think you missed the part where the game said you needed to research the uv light so that you could keep the monster away from your base....otherwise great video. Was a lot of fun to watch you play.

I really like the idea of not only managing your resources, but also check your crew's sanity. Really adds a nice tone of challenge.
This game is somewhat heavily reminiscent of Frost Punk. Love games like these.

IGP I honestly love your content so much, it keeps me entertained on the worst days always no matter what you upload.
Gotta love our boy IGP... Gets attacked by the anomaly and prompted to build a UV light to avoid further attacks. Continues the entirety of the video without ever building said UV light, ignores the mission quest prompt on the left-hand side of the screen, and continues to question why the anomaly keeps attacking. Yet in true IGP style, completes the 100 days in only his kinda fashion. Never change Indie, we love you man, awesome entertaining video as always.
Awesome video as always, good job keeping me entertained. I just wanted to let you know that Folklore Hunter has had quite a few major updates. The whole entire Bloodfang Forest is reworked and different, including the Strigoi themselves. Also, they announced the next cryptid for the game which I won't say if you don't want to know yet, but I just wanted to say this real quick if you didn't know. Anyways, keep up the good work with these amazing vids.

Thank you for actually playing until weird stuff happened! I've seen several vids on this game and none actually showed the horror side of things like the Anomoly.

7861 meters would put them in the benthic zone, in the trenches. The deepest kelp grows is 61 meters. These guys might wanna check their numbers.

underwater frostpunk is the vibes im getting from this game
this game is interesting but seriously if it actually have something down there. the last thing i want is big freaking lamp as a main base. it's like you lit a candle in a dark forest.

Is this game any good? I like the underwater direction these games are going, but I don't think they've nailed it yet. I've seen the same problems with this as I have with Surviving Mars: why are people that are entrusted with this mission, given traits (that you then must balance out in the gameplay), that don't make sense given the context? Why are people overly materialistic? Or gambling addicts? Or alcoholics? Or even like, children? Why is Earth sending children to Mars in the first go? It makes no sense. This is made by the same developer, and your colonists still care about luxury things more than they should.
This is a pretty cool game. I wouldn't mind seeing more of it if you are genuinely having fun with it.

you know what would be a cool (possibly horror?) game. a game where you develop a lab or something in a horrible environment, say under the sea or in space, but you play as both a omniscient city builder and a researcher in the lab. like, imagine if you had to make your job as a researcher harder because of resource management, or being forced to build or buy something because you wouldn't survive as a researcher otherwise
Love this genre, nice change of pace and would enjoy seeing you play more.

This greatly activates my Thalassophobia but I am greatly fascinated by this game and makes me want to try it out anyways.... Great, I hate love it.
I think I have a better idea for a game like this.
Takes place on a colonized alien world, so the environment can be whatever. That way we can add crazy alien fish and still be believable. You start out designing an underwater resort colony in the shallows and you get plenty of support and personnel from the surface. Then whatever megacorp that hired you makes you build deeper and deeper, each shift in depth being a creepier and more hazardous new map, building gets harder and harder because it's harder to get supplies from the surface so you have to start sharing materials from previous maps. Then once you beat the game and build at the maximum depth, it activates a "live as long as you can" mode, say a disaster hits the surface and your underwater resort has the only survivors, supplies are cut off and now you need to be entirely self sustaining.
I can imagine having to build lights late game and lightning turrets to keep reaper-like megafauna away lol

The music reminded me of the music from this little game that I played when I was a kid that all you did was collect more fish and there was sometimes a whale in the background of a mermaid but I don't remember the name and I really wanted to download it again. :(

The one person who is suffocating:
I'm amazed you lasted as long as you did without expanding to other biomes. Getting multiple coal extraction points on your 1st base is very lucky. Also the Anomaly tends to attack buildings in darkness first, which is why your fauna traps and that sonar tower got attacked. The UV light is hard on power consumption, but it will keep all buildings within the light safe. Unfortunately you have to turn it on and leave it on for the entire duration of the Anomaly attack, which feels VERY long when you're using double power.
Getting 2 research labs up I think is essential, because the higher tier research gives major bonuses to efficiency (especially coal power/oxygen so you don't run out before you can expand) and other stats. You can put an attachment on the labs to give bonus research per day, and unlocking Tier 2 gives you a permanent scientist who can boost research even more or make cloning go faster. Before I got to my 1st expansion or any clones I was getting about 50 research per day.
The mess hall is a great buy. You should have one centered in every cluster of buildings where people work, combines very well with nutrition paste (high volume of low quality food). People will be malnourished eventually, but that only lowers max health so nobody will be incapacitated. Plus it keeps moral up with recreation access.
Once you get to oil generators, air quality starts to become more of a concern. You have to find aluminum extraction points to have enough for air purifiers, since you'll have enough oxygen from generators but the heavy industrial buildings will nuke air quality anyway.
Fun and challenging game! Very eerie atmosphere with wonderfully creepy music. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Poor Shane Ferry, sent to the hospital to acclimate and get over their cognitive dissonance and IGP immediately turns off the hospital, so Shane just suffocated to death 5 days later and he just goes "I think she's bugged" almost a month later lol

I do love these city building type of games, and I like the concept of this even though the horror doesn't really fully land or last thanks to us being detached, separate from the facility. I'd love (and somehow absolutely hate) if someone combined a game like this with something like Iron Lung (but with a view). So we're able to move around the ocean floor and the interior of our sub, see it all in first person view and actually be under threat of attack if we're unlucky or mess up.

What I like about games like this and frostpunk, is there isn’t an upkeep that cost thousands of dollars a second, and everything you do you don’t have to watch your profit for ten seconds to make sure you’re not losing money
IGP not sure if you'll see this or not but if you do you should check out a game called Project Ferocious. It looks really cool but is still in development. Maybe just keep it on your radar. It's supposed to release this year.
