Hi Matt! Thank you a lot for playing Countless Army. From what I can see on the video you are playing the previous version, on the actual I’ve fixed some things and added others. However a bug could escape being only one working on this. I’ll love that you try the actual version, even if you don’t make a video only to see the advances. Besides to see how you unfold on the next kingdoms, being everytime a little bit more challenging. Those aren’t engineers….but I’ll be delighted to make a skin for a unit of your choice! I didn’t think about the Dock form the truth…is it true that..well…is just a dock… I’m very happy that you entertained me with my game. Again thank you a lot for playing it and making a video for it!
Anomaly and Anomaly 2, were quite fun and understated games and they were trying to coin th eterm "tower attack" for reverse tower defense. they're usualy sold dirt cheap on steam. and has a sleek sci-fi, post apocalyptic look :)
@@shiyon8947 I was going to say.... I felt like "reverse tower defense" games have been around forever... just maybe not called that. The concept doesn't look new or anything to me. Of course the first thing that comes to my mind though is Frogger. LOL.
The concept of a reverse tower defense is really fascinating, but this game is missing a lot of core gameplay elements… As the player, it looks like very few of your choices even matter. You can’t control the number or spacing of your troops, just the order and which path. The shield spell doesn’t expire, so there’s always only one correct time to use it-when the most troops are on screen, even if they’re not being actively hit. 90% of the enemy towers are exactly the same (single target archers) so there’s barely any need for you to send different units. Just spam your strongest one until you start running out. Why do the enemy defenses not specialize more? Fast fire rate vs AoE vs armor piercing, etc. why do enemy defenses not upgrade between waves like you do? Because of all these elements not being present, the game feels like it boils down to whether you have the “meta upgrades” or not and that your choices within the level are almost irrelevant….
Hi. First of all, thanks to showing your opinion, it helps a lot to improve the game and learn about my errors! Also I want to answer some few things you mentioned to clarify the game evolution. The decisions are really important in the game, because as you advance on it you get more spells that you need to decide where and when to use because of the different effects. Also the troops have different stats and specialties, things that will modify the army composition based on your strategy. About the defenses: the first kingdom is an introduction to learn the controls, but after this one there's more defenses like flamethrowers, longbows, spikes, etc... Each with a different way of facing them depending on your strategy to win. The option to upgrade each troop for waves is very good. If you don't mind, I'll keep working on it in the future. I hope I can explain the game a little bit better!
@@Great-Dao-of-Elegance Some people asked this for me and the idea is very interesting! However actually it is complicated, because the code is complex and I should change a lot of it, as well the defense system and others making it a completly new. And with that said I'm keep the idea for a future part of Countless Army.
Warcraft 3 had a custom game called Wintermaul Wars, it was a 3v3 where each player built their own maze to defend a part of the path and also paid to send creeps to the enemy maze, it was amazing. You could do so well just recreating some of those custom games, what an amazing time.
There have been various Reverse Tower Defense games (aka Tower Offense games) in the past. Tower Wars comes to mind thought that's a tower defense/tower attack combo game really. Or the old Anomaly and Anomaly 2 games from 2013, or the more recent Tower Attack.
Had the thought of making something like this for a game jam with a theme of "player as the villain" (paraphrasing there). I unfortunately do not have a team and have not made a game in a couple years, but I'm glad that someone had the same idea because I really like the concept of reverse TD
There's been a few of these kinds of games so far, two of which I know the name of: Anomaly (1 and 2) and Tower Wars. They're pretty fun, although Tower Wars is only a shell of what it used to be after it's online servers shut down...
This is an interesting proposal. Others have said this too, the making of a 1 vs 1. I have it written for a future, of course this could be something interesting.
This game is like flipping the script on tower defense! 😂 I kinda love the idea of being the attackers for once. Makes me wonder how the strategy changes when you're the 'bad guy' 😂. Can't wait to see more gameplay of this! 💥
im telling you the best game you can play right now is the minecraft create mod, its the most perfect mod for an engineer to play, you can make a bunch of contraptions, machines automatic farms and even more, its pretty realistic too so i think you would love it
This reminds me of that flash game back on kongregate, it's been so long since i saw that game to the point where i don't even remember the name, it was super fleshed out for a reverse tower defense game and had a castle where you could slowly build out towards new units and abilities, i miss that game so much and this awakened a childhood memory of it Edit: Found it, It's called Villainous
weirdly enough, as far as I remember, PvZ was the only game that lets you reverse roles (except for defenders and attackers person shooters, welp they are still doing the same thing, elden ring rpg turning you into the victim, and etc.) in one of their minigames
Anyone looking for a semi-similar game, I highly recommend Toy Soldiers: Cold War. Great RTS tower defence where you can also attack your opponents base in multiplayer. The campaign is fun but not much of a challenge.
You can tell the devs appreciated the plug since there's actual engineer and hard hat dog skins in the game now. 😂 Which is fair, seeing as I bought it because of this.
I am now going to imagine that every time you play a tower defense game you are playing against someone from an alternative universe playing a reverse tower defense game.
Interesting game, but I think the game should start on basically impossible for a true reverse game, then you advance a level despite losing until you can finally win after an easy enough level comes up. The game would be a bit odd, but it would be a true reverse tower defense.
Wow, was really excited to try this game, but man was I disappointed. Very clunky, the outcome is often random. But my biggest issue is I could see the white tracer showing I was travelling one path... and my troops would take the other!
So, who else watches DangerouslyFunny and RealCivilEngineer play very similar games in.... Not dissimilar ways despite everything and finds it hilarious?

Good game
Game looks great, but losing excess troops on a route when they fill up a building seems like an issue.
@donuteater3353 Yes. Once they fill up and destroy a building, the excess should keep going along the path until they reach the end or are killed.
Is there going to be a phone port?
I would love to play this on mobile and I’d happily pay for it if it means no micro transactions or ads
Finally: tower offense.
Excuse me this comment is offensive I demand you take it down now 😡
finally, we get the other side of it.

Tower Offense
