mine does it too just not as loudly. Sounds awesome but its a sign of a couple different trans/diff issues so.. despite the cool sound you typically wanna get rid of it .
Cam Ethier it’s actually not an issue. The Subaru transmission has semi-helical gears that’s what causes this noise. Most race cars have straight cut gear which make the transmission whine like a supercharger.
@b2tl-gamingchannel319 my 5mt has been whining like this for well over 100k miles and still running strong, so I agree if it was an issue it would of died by now unless they are very durable transmission.
My 11' STi makes the same exact sound. It's really harsh sounding at low RPM's. Is it the center diff bearings like the rest of the internet seems to think or what?!
From my research back when I swapped my Bugeye, this noise is inherent with the STi 6 speed. I have a '13 STi now and since owning it, it has produced the same whine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The noise in this video is probably from the front differential pinion bearings. The pitch increases with wheel speed, and is only present under load. Bad news - massive finicky job to replace them. Good news - pinion bearings are massive and you can drive for years with this noise like every other Subaru owner. Or, pretend you have a rally car with straight cut gears ;)
My 04 Wrx makes this noise whenever I’m accelerating. It stops whining when I let off the gas and doesn’t make the sound when I Rev it in neutral, only while on the pedal accelerating. Anyone figure out what it is yet? Is it the center diff bearings?
@@griffin_kith6214 no but I think it was the front diff. I ended up selling it at a loss because it was an automatic and I bought a manual 02 bugeye. It did start to get way worse towards the end of me driving it though so whatever it was it wasn’t good
@@Rumblefan alright thanks I just bought an 06 and it has a weird whine to it when I’m on the throttle, I don’t know if it might just be because it has a built shortblock or if somethings bouta die
Has anyone found out what this noise is exactly? Car is making the same exact noise and I can't quite pinpoint what exactaly it is. If anyone knows it would really be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a whining (supposed to be normal) and buzzing/scratching noise when I step off the gas especially in the 2nd and 3rd gear on my STI MY10. I think it was getting worse after the new clutch installation. Does anybody have a clue ? Engine not modified, and STI not used for racing activities.
@@dermc3491 I meant transmission fluid, check for leaks and other things. My transmission sounded like that for a good amount but when I added new transmission fluid and gaskets it stopped
I don't know why I like this noise, especially in trucks and buses.
Sounds amazing! Problem or not music to my ears lol
On stock trans this is not good lol means metal on metal
I don't see why people don't like this noise, I think it's awesome

well its only cool when ur car is supposed to make that noise

Noticed it after I changed my shifter bushings
The whining noise is making it sound like a post war bug 😂

I know this was 4 years ago but did you ever figure out the problem? I have a 11 sti and I hear a slight rough whine noise at low rpm
We got any ideas bois same issue ahahaha
Lol same with my 11 Sti
'11 STI here as well, the whine just started this week, anyone solved it here maybe?? Lollll

Omg. How well have you been treating your car? What oils do you use?
Did you install Lada transmission? Whining and crunching are its natural sounds xD
Did you ever figure out the issue?
Anyone figure it out ? It’s driving me nuts . Makes my head feel like it’s going to explode.

I have the same problem with my Subaru 2009 I wish someone would of tell me what the problem is and how much does it cost to get it fix ???
Sorry everyone, this was a wholesale auction car and I never found the solution. Just re sold it.
So what's the problem any solution?

Nick Demers did you change the shifter bushings ?

What was the cause? Price fix???????
sounds like the same noise my 04 sti is making. Did you ever figure out what is causing it.
same here it is driving me crazy
so? bearings? or what?

Check the transmission fluid
what was the issue? people want to fucking know!!
Straight cut gears possibly

Check the transmission level, this noise comes from metal on metal parts that arent getting enough lubrication
@@aletron4750 what is transmission level ? Transmission oil was changed regularly

I hear all modified sti have it , mine does that whine at low rpm
Did u change Ur gearbox or is still the original?
Please help me I just bought a Subaru 3 days ago I hear a whining noise in first and second gear any clues or ideas you think it might have
Bad bearings in the center diff
Is it easy to fix?
output shaft bearing.
AKJangly lol right, gotta be a main bearing in the trans or diff related.
nobody found what this sond is ?
need for speed most wanted anyone?
