We talked to graduates from the School of Mathematics right after their graduation ceremony and asked them what advice they would give to new students in the School.
My Advice to anyone majoring in Pure or Applied Math, Just start studying REAL ANALYSIS IN ADVANCE, try to purchase a book of real analysis and it will be of great great help
Any book recommendations for doing this? I’m a pure math major and I plan on applying for PhD programs next semester. I want to take any steps I can to ensure I succeed. :)
The good thing about math is you can collaborate, but you don't have to. My work would probably much better if I collaborated more often, but I'm too stubborn.
Well only because most bachelor degrees are just a doorway to the master's degree. You're essentially nothing with a bachelor's in mathematics in Belgium.
Nick P I thought that was the case everywhere. I’m currently studying math in Belgium and prepared to have to have a masters to have a degree that is worth something.
Maths degree alone will not prepare for real world. Need a Masters degree after in a work related topic. Finance for investment banking / investment management or real estate investment finance etc. Unless of course you were just a teacher.

Know many math majors who already have jobs set up that don’t directly use math, but require complex problem solving skills. It’s a great degree!
it seems like they graduated from hogwarts
Great advice thank you!
Collab seems to be the key!
