For those that are new here... my name is Ellie and I'm a student at the University of Cambridge studying Part III Masters of the Mathematical Tripos (basically a fancy way of saying I'm studying a maths masters lol) and I am in Sidney Sussex College! I love maths, space and tech (I have a tech channel too!) and I'm so excited to share this new chapter with you all 💛

Partial derivatives 🥰🥰🥰
To be serious, I think that hydrodynamic math is the HARDEST math. I am impressed. Good luck ❤

I just have to appreciate a person like this that is studying from literally waking up until going to sleep, staying focused 24/7. As a person with ADHD, it would be a dream to have a ability to do similar but well, it izz what izz.
SAME, i can concentrate for 3 hours but if i see anything thats not related about studies i distract myself in seconds..
Just use that to your advantage! I'd love to major in pure Math but I'm doing Engineering Physics, because it's the ADHD degree. Super math heavy, but you learn so much applied physics you can bounce around all the time in what you're studying
That ability is not exactly regular, I'd say very few are able to do it, unless it's something one finds interesting. I imagine it also requires a bit of a "support network", to be able to feel relaxed between days.
Do not underestimate yourself, ADHD doesn't give you the inability to do this, it just means you have to do this differently. Especially if it is something you are passionate for, ADHD will not be able to stop you, just might take you a little longer
Thank you for sharing Ellie, I appreciate that and your existence, it's beautiful to see people like you do what you do and use their ability to learn and study to blossom into something beautiful.
My jaw dropped when you said past papers didn't have mark schemes, I laughed when you said it was to make it hard! The sunrises and sunsets, I dream of having a view of one, let alone both! Thank you for sharing, good luck, God bless
Very inspiring video for maths lovers !
Loved this video Ellie! You’re a star 🌟
Cambridge is great! I was in the first M.Phil. Linguistics class (1978); we had to write 3 research papers and a thesis, but there were no exams. (I was at Clare College and remember those long walks around a slightly rainy town.)
You inspired me to pursue maths in university! Wish me luck 🍀
I look forward to know your method of study at Cambridge
Oh i love you're try😍💎
Love all your video's Ellie. Can you please tell me what whiteboard's you use.
Didn't know even studying is intense learnt something thks❤❤
Wow mashallah I found you there, I've become happy , because I saw your video which you have explained how we can make a CV ,and also you said that I am going to send my CV to Cambridge university,, I'm really happy ,you have been selected,
In 1992, no computer( only in programming club, MSdos gwBasic or pascal and Fortran), no mobile, wake up coffee, with mathematics.
? This sounds 1972 to me, not 1992.
At least in the Netherlands.
And even in the study, 1972-1976, my brother used computers in his study maths (Leiden , netherlands). I cannot give his PHD title due to privacy rules...
but this phd could ONLY be done with (self programmed ) computers.
I really liked your wall mounted Light can you give any references where i can buy ?
I wish I could be back at brick uni. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the OU and being able to work and study but being a full time student is a life that I really miss
but u gotta study. do u enjoy studying? i dont xD and im not even in uni yet
So cool , I’m doing undergrad maths too
i would love to know how you use active recall !
These people are so much smarter than I'll ever be
What about the semester exams ? is it hard or direct questions from what you studied?
Hi Ellie! I got an offer from Part III math for 2023 MT entry and I'm really interested in exoplanets. I guess I should've applied to places like IoA as well but back then I didn't know much about Cambridge... Just wondering, do you know about the chances of getting into a PhD program in astrophysics after Part III, either at Cambridge or elsewhere? That would be really helpful!
Congratulations!! During Part III there are talks about phd applications which was one of the helpful parts of studying at a university where you want to do your PhD! I’m not sure on the acceptance rate but I do know that studying Part III is one of the best things you can do to ensure a PhD at Cambridge! 😄
Hi Ellie! I'm a freshman at University and I'm studying Computer Science, not math, but I still have to do a lot of Math. First semester I did very well, but now that I'm in second I don't have motivation to study and I'm not being efficient enough when it comes to study I think I could spend even three hours without learning anything and that's frustrating me. Have this ever happened to you? What would you suggest me to do? (Also English is my second language so I'm sorry if I wrote wrong some things)
Me too…I think you have to put a goal on the wall…keep going…do not give up…Good luck
Taking some break might help
Maths masters is CRAZYYYYYY👏🏾

🙌
hi, what's up? I like math and I wanna study math at the univ. Do you know where I can get the cambridge syllabus in math?
There may be a few lecture notes online or on Cambridge course website! :)
Do you do the same as a astrophysics student?
Hi ma’am, which book should I study to under stand A level maths
Mathsgenie and physics and maths tutor youtube channels. Textbook depends which exam board you doing Maths with
Peace be upon you,
What is the material (notes, books, online material) with the help of which you solved this past paper about exoplanets. I found the paper, but I do not know what to go through to be able to solve it. Your reply comes and I start studying about this. Thanks.
I miss going to school and using my brain to learn.
I believe it were hard a daily solving problems.
Wow, what sort of hours were you doing each day? Also, were you working 7-days a week?
It massively varied day to day! In this video I started work at 7am and finished around 9:30/10pm before going to bed - roughly a 15 hour study day including food and rest breaks :) other days I wouldn't be as productive and would spend my evenings resting. As it got closer to my exams I was consistently waking up around 6/7am and working throughout the day - whether the work during the day was productive depended on how focused I felt that day. I was often told by my friends that I study way too hard which might be true😂 and yes, I was working 7 days a week unless I was unwell or had a seizure. I can create a video explaining how hard I revised each day if that would help? :)
@@EllieSleightholm Congratulations on your achievements.
Thank you.
@@EllieSleightholm thanks a load for the video! I am in the process of applying to part 3 now and would really appreciate that kind of video :))
I want to be a British engineer🏴🇬🇧
Is there any one from Kolkata (india) 🙂?
Cause i noticed a name 'sudipto' on the black board which was written in Bengali
And also few Hindi words too
doctoral degree in mathematics
functional analysis
manifold geometry

...
iam a student can you tell me how you understand math
ur so smart omg
Wow!
5t^2+2t+3/1+t^2+t^3 can you solve this integral?
No, but I can solve the following equation: 1+1=3
My wish for you is that, may you write on blackboard as well as on your whiteboard, if you know what I mean, and I am sure you do :)
Cambridge is the best place to study
Do You Really Think I Care About NUMBERS.
All you Need for computing is GCSE Maths and For Electronics is A'Level Maths.
YOU, ALL YOU CAN DO IS: MEMORISE AND REPEAT THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION.
IF ITS A QUESTION, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE. YOU CANT DO IT.
