I hope you make a video for every class with their start in the new expansion. The video is well written and well edited and frankly your audio is miles better than a lot of content creators.
I've watched this video like 5 or 6 times now and my hype for Gunbreaker is through the roof.
The changes on the E3 build have me even more excited, too! Lots of changes I wanted to see from the media tour build.
@@VeryMerri that's some good news! will you be making a video/update on these changes?
They're gonna have to allow full tank parties now. Everyone's a gunbreaker!
I have made a playlist for Gun Breaker and this video has easily been played over 20 times in anticipation of ShB launch. You da Man!
WELCOME BACK, MERRI!!! And a great video to come back swinging! I'm so excited for GNB AND that battle with Aenc Hon at the end was awesome!!
Super excited to try this job out. I am glad to hear the complaints of it seeming "underwhelming" are not all players.
dunno where these people coming from with complaints, job looks fire and imma pick it up, if numbers is what they're concerned with those can easily be changed.
This was one of the best guides I have seen to date on gunbreaker, at the very least the explanation and how each ability interacts with one another. I hope to see more guides from you :)
AHHHHHHH THE MUSIC IS SOOOO GOOOD
I want Shadowbringers now D:
If that's the boss theme for dungeons IMAGINE what they do for the final boss theme. I mean remember Shinryu, you go through the whole game to the stormblood final theme and then Shinryu took that amazing theme and cranked it to 11 all the while kicking your ass.
Just wanna say your coverage of the media tour has been very informative in terms of stuff you captured; it allowed us to kind of observe the nuances of Superbolide in action and we now also have some video evidence of the combo timer being extended to 15s from the current 10s. In my eyes you're the media tour MVP
Thank you!
lmao alphinaud and minfilia taking their sweet ass time to cross lmao "im not afraid..not afraid" lmao
And when Alisaie says "It makes me feel dirty just looking at it" towards the boss' 2nd form.
Gunbreaker based off looks alone is gonna be my main tank class. I'm loving everything about this class
See if I wasn't dedicated to Cecil Harvey's OG class Gun would likely be my main.
Hey thanks for giving your perspective as a Tank main. It really helped.
Same. I was main DRK and i told myself i wouldnt Change buuuuuuuut :(
Watching you go ham on these enemies with your cartridge combo is so satisfying.
I can't wait!
This class and MCH are the 2 i am looking forward to most, great video dude as always! -Atigeve
OMG finally Merri Vids again!! I missed you dude
The boss music just gets better and better.
That music. How can I feel nostalgia for something I've never heard before? XD So beautiful...
This video honestly gave me some more hope for the trust system of all things. Seeing that bridge mechanic and how each of the npc’s tackle it differently is really interesting!
Also, ye Idk if I will level GNB after DRG or War but i ammmm so excited for it
you rock ^^
I got distracted by how awesome the Gray Draco mob looked :P
Loved FF8. Saw Gunbreaker and not ashamed to admit it, but I totally fangirled.
Hell yes
Awesome vid dude!! I cannot wait for Gun Breaker! I hope they fix its ultimate though. It just looks awesome regardless!
*(Whatever..) Intensifies*
This class looks amazing, i am expecting chamges to some abilities but looks very solid as a whole. Will be jumping into this and trying it out myself.
I'm not really a fan of tanks, but this could change my mind *drools*
That's it I will level a gunbreaker! Thanks for your vid, Merri!
Very detailed video! Gunbreaker's going to be my first job to play through the MSQ, gonna try to get out of my comfort zone (healing/DPS) and more in the swing of tanking this time.
Thanks for this! Looks like I’m going back to tank in ShB.
Ah shit here we go again
Every single last tank feels and plays great. I'm actually having a hard time deciding on an actual main. I want it to be GNB, but DRK is pretty tantalizing...
Very Merri I feel you I’m probably gonna try and main them both until my friends just say dude just pick a tank already.
I've been playing this on repeat, trying to internalize as many facts as I can.
This looks like such a fun tank to play, I can’t wait for early access.
Thanks for the content Merri.
I had decided to make gunbreaker my main when they first revealed it but now all of the lv80 jobs look so cool
anyone else realize that the boss is using the Form Change animation from Monk to do his auto attacks?
that music on that boss fight gets me going god I love it!
Underrated content creator. Great job.
As a Final Fantasy 8 fan, and someone who has been trying to get into tanking more, this class is an absolute godsend. I'm gonna spend some of the next month leveling and practicing tanking on Paladin, I think, that way I'm not going into level 60+ dungeons and trials all like, "Okay, so... what's the difference between MT and OT again?"
Florence MT= main tank, OT= off tank
So what the difference between them?
Does the main tank occupy the boss and off tank occupy the adds?
Do you often need to tank switch and how do you do that?
@@AIIXIII0 MT is the one that keeps the boss' attention for the most part. If there's adds, it's usually up to the OT to handle those, that way the MT doesn't accidentally turn the boss towards the party and direct AOE's at them.
As for tank swapping, I haven't really seen it done yet, but I do understand that it is a thing that happens under certain circumstances.
As for how it's done, tanks have an ability called shirk, which redirects a percentage of agro to a targeted party member. So basically, you use that on the other tank, they can use provoke, and then unleash a combo on the enemy, and they should be able to hold onto the aggro.
Tank stance is also important to consider. Typically, the MT will have tank stance on while the OT doesn't, though I think there are some situations where it can be beneficial for OT to snap tank stance on temporarily (like if you need to draw stubborn adds away from party members.)
I saw this video before attempting a lvl 60 dungeon so I made sure I'm doing the skills in a way that I don't screw up and lose enmity on targets. Ty
Bravo with that ending there my man. Bravo
there's just something that I can't explain why, but I just LOVE about getting to see the npc's actually accompanying the WoL/D
Alphinaud: "I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid..."
Alisaie: Sprints!
I haven’t tanked since Heavensward. Looks like I’ll be getting back to it!
That boss music! God tier Soken!
"Bow Shock", "Nebula", "Superbolide", did they get GNB's skills mixed up with AST's?
Best GNB video, hands down.
That's very kind of you to say, thank you!
@@VeryMerri Goes in depth with all the stuff someone who considers maining it would need! It's basically a godsend!
"Each tank has been rather slow" B-b-but DRK and extended Blood Weapon. But with that combo, the continuation one, it definitely seems super fast.
Nice job on the vid Merri!
Thank you!
oh christ thank you merri, thanks for a video on my main
No, thank you for watching!
When I see Ready to Rip and Tear.. I think about my boy Grynewaht. The true Gunbreaker.
✊
I'm sorry, who? Squall? Yeah, same.
Brutal shell with heart of stone helps you contribute when you're off tanking or sub tanking in raids. I really dig it.
So I came to the game little over a month ago and when I was looking at jobs to play I saw what I wanted to be my 3 mains red mage, machinist, and gunbreaker. Sadly gunbreaker wasn't out yet so I worked my way up to the other 2 and got them to 70, and honestly Im excited gor shadowbringers. I picked up DRK to learn tanking and the MCH changes have me over the moon. Most of my excitement for GNB is that it looks like it plays more in line with a DPS role which is where I feel most comfortable, so im definitely grabbing it day 1 even if my main plans are to use MCH for the msq.
I love the music for this fight
Can’t wait til June 28th my gunbreaker riding into the sunset with his grani mount. Oooooooooohhhhh
after seeing your vid for gunbreaker my plans have changed was gonna play mch but now I'm definitely considering gnb
so does blasting zone reaches into space?
Thank you for this, for newish player this helps a lot, still levling my main to 80 but this may be the next job!
got my Sub both your dancer and Gunbreaker are excellent and detailed if you could do that for the other class too would be sweet
I actually really like superbolide. I do think that if hallowed ground stays the same then superbolide has to either have a longer duration or a shorter cooldown than hg.
this is probably the best GNB video right now thank you for this
im really keen for this job and do plan to level this first to also main it but i am wondering little bit of a minor question
just the color of the job stone for curiosity sake.
edit found out it was yellow
Could be wrong but how Im reading Camouflage is that its a 10% reduction on top of the increased parry rate, making it 10% reduction + the parry reduction (believe it was 20%?) whenever the parry happens. So it'll still be somewhat useful against magical attacks mitigating 10% of it, even if its not as great as the other tanks. But like I said I could be wrong and it could really just be a 50% parry that does 10% reduction on parry
Would be interesting to see Superbolide dropped to 2 minutes, but just turn all but 1 HP into a stackable shield, which then fades over 6 seconds or so. Superbolide, nuke-heal to top back off, and you've now got almost double eHP. Once every 2 minutes.
Would be nice to see the other "immunities" be a little less homogeneous, too.
Is this really the boss music for dungeons now?!
Most definitely is. Generic boss battle music for dungeons. It's great, isn't it?
Hrothgar going from the perfect posture of default AST healing animations to the bestial hunched over posture looks very awkward
Ooooooh baby that buff that Sonic Break got tho.
i can use this video to learn the class at the current patch? or much changed
Did you mean 2000-2500 rather than 20,000-25,000?
Gunbreaker is definitely my next class to 80 after Drk, the tank changes have me so happy now that tank stances aren't awkward growths that punish you for using them.
That, and the removal of enmity combos and the addition of more in-depth combat rotations in their place make all of the tanks REALLY fun to play. It's just a fantastic time to be a tank.
Camouflage doesn't really "take up a mitigation slot" compared to other tanks. DRK has Dark Mind in this spot, WAR has Thrill of Battle in this slot, and PLD doesn't actually have anything in this slot, but it does have 2 party mitigation tools(veil+wings) with wings also doubling as personal mitigation to make up for the missing slot.
Fairly new player here, just starting the Heavensward expansion. This sounds like the job in was hoping, for almost like a blend of DPS and Tank! I'm super excited for this Job Class.
And if not that then try out Warrior, it's the reigning DPS tank king
Is there a reason you would use Burst Strike instead of using the cartridge to go into the gnashing fang combo?
Honestly gunbreaker does look like a lot of fun, I've played as a tank since 2.0 unfortunately I couldn't play 1.0 😭 but I've raided on all 3 tanks and welcome a new tank to play. Just a little sad I won't be able to experience the savage raiding on him as much.
Would camouflage have higher value when used in trash mobs throughout the instance?
It's not a defense cool down to be held. Just use it when it's up.
Ya paladin tank ultimate is in a league of its own so a direct comparison would not be the best especially with that ridiculous regen on GB.
any thoughts on which you'll main ?
Looking like Gunbreaker, at the moment!
I've been a caster main since 2.0 but hot damn does GNB look fun. FFVIII was my first FF and gunblade my favorite weapon of all time. I think it might be time for me to switch mains lol
You mentioned it was misrepresented that Sonic Break is listed to give a powder cartrige, but honestly I wonder if that isn’t what it’s supposed to do. The overall potency gain for using it would be high enough to actually be worthwhile then, and that would justify the long cooldown for it.
IIRC, it was discovered that the JP tooltip for Sonic Break had the initial hit and DoT potency listed higher, but I can't confirm that. Either way, I'm not so sure there's a cart that's supposed to be attached to it, but we'll just have to wait and see at this point.
I must admit never really being a tank player, I dont even have 1 tank at 70, I am quite excited to try this job. This combined with the trust system will allow me to get to grips with the role before I venture into DF with it. Good video Merri, nice to see some youtube content again!!!
It's kinda hard too understand it completely without other players judging your actions but still hopefully it's not that hard too understand
Thank's for the info! I do hope they fix those 2 skills. Big fan of the gunblade weapon. This will be my new main as well. Sorry Paladin... One question, does it feel easier than Paladin or is there a learning curve behind it. I still feel like I am learning how to tank properly.
Tis pretty spicy gameplay
are you increase the speed peace video, because it seems way to fast for Gunbreaker combo
The way I see Camouflage statistically work is 10% static dmg reduction and 10% from all parries (50% of the time a 20% dmg reduction). It's basically Rampart (including CD) but with half the dmg reduction having RNG in it. So if lucky it could reduce more dmg, and if unlucky it couldn't... xD Would have been cool to use if GNB had some kind of skill to use off of parries.
DRKs: Yeaaaaah those were the days
Great video! Does the GNB share gear with the other tanks? thanks in advance
Yes.
im switching to Tank...GunBreaker is my new main!!!
Same here god damit I need this in my life
Hey Merri hope you have the time to answer this question but first thank you as always for your hard work and everything you do for the community. So my question is as a PS4 player controller how is it for all the tanks in general ? Is there more or less buttons or the same amount from stormblood? Because I paladin had so many abilities it felt for me clunky, also does each job have the same amount of abilities and weapons skills. Thank you
More or less the same buttons, but you'll use more of them more often. Things flow REALLY well for all the jobs.
nice to see the trust ai are good at their jobs
Gunbreaker is looking to be my main as well.
Also, that boss theme. UNF.
oh my gosh 22 days left until early access
Good video but i got a question, do u think gnb will be mt or ot? From what i see war will most likely be the mt of choice and pld seemsvery ot like.
If you are comfortable being MT, on any tank, go for it. True, WAR in some instances are "better" because of cool downs. But I was MT a lot in Heavensward as a DRK.
What’s the music playing towards the end in that battle?
I’m a tank main too mainly war but ya tank main but this. This is just I can’t wait. I can’t wait at all for this dam class. New main.
All the moves for gunbreaker have the most metal sounding names. I will have to play it just for that reason.
Some are named after Squall's limit breaks
I see u getting down with GB I wasn't to interested in GB but after watching u go ham yea I'll pick that up gg sir
Before I forget get the dungeon music is good like really good
I may just go Gunbreaker for this whole DLC. Looks pretty sweet, but I know everyone else is gonna be on it...
Is there any information about how the stacking system of certain skills such as the gap closers, heals, kassatsu and many others work at the start of the fight? Like, if you wipe, will you have to wait the full duration of 2 cd's to get your skill back and thus get the most efficient and optimal usage in your opener from it? The gap closer on tanks probably doesn't affect it too much since it's only a minor dps loss and probably not necessary to have during prog but for example on WAR it would limit your infuriate usage and ultimately the fc upgrade which forces you to play a slightly shifted rotation without waiting for both stacks to be back up?
You may have already seen but they mentioned this in the Live Letter today, they will recharge to the full amount after a wipe.
Curious on others thoughts about burst strike sitting on the gcd. I feel thats a poor decision and will make the job feel slightly more clunky than necessary and may be part of the reason it supposedly does low dps. At the end of the day I’m just wondering if I’m the only one that thinks it’ll feel kinda bad to use since you have to spend a gcd to expend the cartridge you’ll be receiving constantly from your one combo
Does Virtuosic Capriccio hit that hard to make you use Superbolide like that?
Gunbreaker looks like it might be popular. Not sure if I'll play Gunbreaker or take this opportunity to play more DPS while queue times are still shorter than usual due to more tanks.
I feel like gunbreaker is going to be sooo much fun but I’m also a bit nervous of it being a bit more complicated then most tanks. Well for me that is xD. But I really most excited for Lvl 80 Red Mage and the Dark Knight Rework
Not at all. Honestly, I expect GNB to actually be the EASIEST tank and great for casual players. Which almost has me a bit hesitant to take it into high end content, but we'll see how it pans out.
Very Merri well if you believe it will be the easiest tank then I will look forward to it even more because I’ve been wanting to Main a Tank Class for a while now since atm I main Red Mage and Samurai
It looks cool and I might end up playing the game again for gunbreaker but I do have an issue with it, the gun part only holds 2 cartridges instead of 6. It's not a big deal but it just kinda bothers me.
Yeah, two surprised me as well. I was expecting at LEAST three.
So warrior or Drk As first tank to lvl up? Drk seem really good , bit war still seem to have more dps and that strange heal utility
whichever u find cooler my dude
Wait but you don't take damage in superbolide. Thats seems like a really good breathing room for healers struggling to get you back into shape.
I have a question. I have FFXIV complete edition disc that includes everything except Shadowbringers. If I want to buy Shadowbringers disc, which disc would I use to play? Does the Shadowbringers disc come with other expansion or Shadowbringers only?
Or should I buy the digital version instead? Since I just want Shadowbringers only.
It looks like it's supposed to be built around speed, which I'm absolutely down for. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it actually puts speed into it's gameplay. I really wish they had created a unique Haste system that gradually speeds up (kinda like Greased Lightning) for GNB to really hammer in the theme of hacking and slashing, and then finish it with an epic BLM-tier esplosion. But this definitely LOOKS promising.
Yeah. There's a ton of speculation going around about stacking Skillspeed on GNB, but we'll have to see.
